Reviews for Hotel Mitland
Review 1:My experience was poor , the room was cold , the spa had no towels and required an additional token for 3.75 for 10 minutes in hot tub. The whole set up was laughable the changing room doors one wouldn't shut ( blocked by door) and the other lock doesn't reach the clasp. These are problems that have existed since the facility was built and highlights the care and attention paid to this part of hotel. This whole spa facility was a whole lot less than advertised on website and made me feel cheated. Other little things like no water in room or vending machine , Paper disposable cups 2 No provided in room etc . I have stayed in hotels that were worse than this but these were considerably cheaper . IN all I feel that I got very poor value for my monies and will have to reconsider utilising Booking.com if you do not ensure that a correct representation of the Hotel is provided on your website
Review 2:Good Bed , not a bad location , nice hire bikes , reasonably clean , Nice man who checked us out on Sunday ( the most pleasant member of staff)
Review 3:The serene atmosphere, the walks around the grounds and the history of the hotel. Wonderful food and facilities. We enjoyed the lovely walks through the parks and discovering Utrecht from outside the city centre. This was our second Christmas break at the Mitland and we will be back.
Review 4:The rooms on ground floor directly next to the parking place are loud (poor insulation, cars driving from the early morning). Had to make an room-upgrade to get a calm room.
Review 5:The hotel is like a big holiday resort, well equipped (small pool, sauna, bar,. . . ), the food is enjoyable and staff is friendly.
Review 6:The coffee facility in the room is terrible for a 4 star hotel. Paper cups???? We don't ever get paper cups not even in a 3 star hotel anywhere we have traveled. The 15euro a night charge for our dog is also the most expensive we have paid anywhere in the world, incl some of the most expensive cities.
Review 7:Stunning Hotel in a gorgeous setting! Staff excellent! Rooms large, clean and comfortable. Best hotel bed we have had in years!
Review 8:Still a computer available ( I do not own a laptop, don' t lose them! ) for the internet, and the lovely restaurant, always great food, although ( a bit ) expensive, great help by the gentle sommelier...nice big breakfast too, again a bit too dear for my experience...
Review 9:A little bit out of the way but easy enough to reach via bus from central station. Raining when we arrived so got a bit wet!
Review 10:Great hotel. Very large and obviously used for conferences. We got a room upgrade which was a lovely surprise. Staff really nice and professional. Ate in hotel restaurant and food was pretty good. Hotel set on lovely grounds.
Review 11:room cleaning was very bad.. for such an expensive hotel this is not acceptable charged for parking.. at this location it should be free reception desk staff tried their best but management does not seem to have a vision
Review 12:View from room was nice
Review 13:i experienced an awful stomach ache during the early hours of the sunday morning. i had the lobster soup from the hotel menu but i can not say whether this was to blame as it was delicious. no further comment!
Review 14:comfortable and warm.
Review 15:Maybe the surcharge on room service should be reviewed. But to be honest we had no need for it. Restaurant was staffed with warm and pleasant staff.
Review 16:The clear interest and care for environment...absolutely loved the shower
Review 17:Location not centralized, have to pay for parking, single bed narrow For 16€ per person breakfast, overpriced for the quality of buffet! Advice: go to a nice cafe instead and get your money's worth.
Review 18:Modern contemporary style of hotel
Review 19:The light in the bathroom is insufficient. The sink is very big, so it is difficult to shave. Women would have big troubles to put some make up
Review 20:Modern, the hotel setting (inside, outside)
Review 21:The thermal pool was not very hot and the Jacuzzi worked with coins (3.5 euros, 10 min aprox)
Review 22:We had a very pleasant 4 night stay. The view and atmosphere of our room was so nice that sometimes we stayed for several hours in the room before going out.
Review 23:Decor in serious need of an upgrade. That and the room furniture seemed pretty basic for a purportedly 4 star hotel. It's quite a way out of the city centre - 20-30 min walk or a bus / cab ride.
Review 24:Nice countryside, gym (even though I didn't have time to use it). Good bar. Fast Checkout
Review 25:A bit out of the centre of town, but accessible by bus.
Review 26:Environmental policies of hotel. Sunset by the lake, with sheep over the other side. Hagel slag for breakfast!
Review 27:Without a car, it is a bit of a trek into town but worth it!
Review 28:We returned here for the third time because we like the individual nature of the hotel. It is in a good position (overlooking a very pleasant lake) and has good facilities.
Review 29:You hear the noise in the corridors Check out is at 11h. If you want to stay later, you have to pay for late check out.
Review 30:Nice modern room Nice "natural" surroundings, although very close to the motorway
Review 31:Didn't like having cardboard cups in the bedroom, proper cups would have been better. Also got a bit 'forgotten' at dinner, had to wait a long time for main course.
Review 32:The staff were delightful, very helpful and pleasant. Very convenient to be able to go out to the car in the car park via a side door.
Review 33:we had to give 200€ of security, seems ridiculous. Also, We asked for a top level room, since we are a couple we wanted some privacy.. They gave us a room with a door to the street where people and cars where constantly passing.. after they charged us 34€ for breakfast and 8€ for parking, and we thought it was free because nobody has given us any information.. when we expressed our outrage the staff was rude and just wanted us to leave.. Also, the hotel is quite far from the city center..
Review 34:The instalations were nice and we enjoyed using the pool
Review 35:.......There are a lot of spiders in the balcony
Review 36:Land escape Surrounded cannels Diversity choices in the breakfast Balcony view Amazing terrace not far from the city center really really really ......helpful front disk Everything was awesome
Review 37:View from room not vg.
Review 38:Very courteous and friendly staff. Dinner menu good value for money Spa facilities Room spatious. Housekeeping very good. outside dining
Review 39:Sauna needs renovation...I didn't like that u need to pay for breakfast or need to pay for bowling...i mean in the price should be more included things...we paid for the bowlong the same price as non guests...we paid even for the parking of the car..so please this capitalism should be more easy
Review 40:Location, quite, nice views
Review 41:The balcony was really filthy. We booked a room with a lake view and as soon as we opened the door to go into the veranda we were shocked. Disgraceful.
Review 42:The location
Review 43:Not the hotel's fault but road closed on approach to hotel on first night of our stay, and there were no signs so it was quite stressful. Not sure what to do at barrier to car park - it had been a long day!
Review 44:Very comfortable bed, lovely bathroom. Great location in parkland. Able to eat outside and enjoy very pleasant surroundings. After a stressful start the staff made us feel welcome.
Review 45:The lobster soup is slightly salty and the pool is rather small but that's ok.
Review 46:I searched this hotel from Google Satellite image and I found that the surroundings and environment are simply perfect. Ample parking spaces. Not far away from everywhere, everything. Prices of F&B are reasonable and the quality is so high. All staff I have met were friendly and helpful. A GM-looking gentleman is always around serving and talking to people so you may raise an issue to him if needed. Highly recommended and will stay again for sure.
Review 47:the room was not clean, but I have got it sorted quickly and decent discount was offered
Review 48:nice location, 30 min walking distance to the city center. get the room with a lake view- highly recommending !
Review 49:Having to pay for parking, it should be free to guests staying for 3 days or more as they will spend money at the hotel anyway. The extra charge is unnecessary. Having to wait for service at the bar or at breakfast, the hotel seemed a little short staffed at times.
Review 50:Great facilities for a break with children. An easy cycle into Utrecht. Good value for money. When the restaurant manager was on duty staff were very attentive and well managed.
Review 51:Breakfast very nice - freshly squeezed juices, baked beans as well (rarely seen those at Dutch hotel breakfasts). Bed comfortable. View stunning, enjoyed seeing the wildlife too. Quiet room which was appreciated.
Review 52:Paying for the parking. If I drive to a hotel, I expect to be able to park there for free. Paying in advance is a nightmare because they wake a €50 deposit on the room. This makes quick check-out almost impossible to achieve. A real pain. Other hotels let you pay in advance at check-in against a credit card; why this one can't is a mystery.
Review 53:Fantastic location, abundant parking, really friendly staff. The wifi is excellent. In addition, the hotel has what looks like a rather impressive pool and leisure centre. Next time I stay, I'll try it out. The property is fairly easy to reach from the motorway.
Review 54:Superb location, easy to drive to, within walking distance of the centre. Peaceful setting and secure parking. Staff speak good English and they are very helpful
Review 55:Location is far from city center and there is not much around. Different room types are in different buildings so you can't have two singles and one dual room one to each other
Review 56:Very nice park and lake around the hotel. Very friendly and helpful stuff.
Review 57:Staff friendliness and helpfulness. Bowling Alley, Pool, sauna, steam rooms were a great extra. Bike hire was very reasonable and great bikes. Perfect location for entering Utrecht.
Review 58:A little far to walk to public transport. We asked for half cup of milk for the coffee making facility provided in our room. Staff and management felt it was quite aceptible to charge us 2 euro for this. We felt this was very excesive and poor customer relations. On principle, I drove to the supermarket and bought a whole litre of milk, which we did not need for only 55 cents.
Review 59:This is a very nice hotel with beautiful surrounds and great parking facilities
Review 60:Location. It is far from public transport or amenities. Is ok if you drive. Also, the food/drinks are over priced. A can of coke for 2.75 euro at vending machine is too expensive, even for Holland. I tried the restaurant once and was no impressed either.
Review 61:No bad experiences, although I feel the signage from the approach could be much better, especially for foreign travellers.
Review 62:The staff were very friendly and efficient and the breakfast was particularly impressive. This is the kind of hotel I feel very comfortable in.
Review 63:Some facilities such as the swimming pool were not available due to reconstruction, without prior notice on the site. This was unfortunate, because one of the reasons for choosing this hotel was the facilities.Wi-fi could be unreliable at times. Finally, due to the location of the room and the nearby highway, late night and early mornings noise from the passing cars was a bit disturbing.
Review 64:Beautiful surroundings lush greenery lots of ponds and lakes walking paths, about 2.5 km from city center. The stuff was friendly and helpful at all times. Modern comfortable room with all the amenities.
Review 65:upon arriving at evening I was told I could sit anywhere in the restaurant. I was then told by another member of staff I had to move as it had been set for 3 people. There were other tables available unsure why I was made to move. Waitress started talking to me in Dutch I advised I was English she then spoke English a few minutes later then started talking to me in Dutch again, not very clever. Some of the male waiters were also a little rude and abrup
Review 66:The evening meals were excellent very tasty indeed Carpaccio and the medallions of pork I would recommend instantly.
Review 67:A well situated hotel, an oasis amid the bustle of the city. Excellent breakfast buffet and comprehensive lunchtime and evening menu. Easy parking and city centre easily accessible by public transport.
Review 68:- no filled minibar, - flooding of shower, - no room service after 23:00 - staff at reception is friendly but from time to time completely clueless
Review 69:Excellent view at the waterboard on the terrace and a very decent breakfast. Room is of average quality.
Review 70:Entrance to hotel isn't the easiest to find
Review 71:Good food, room and service. Pool was closed but this was communicated before arrival, grounds were superb.
Review 72:Kitchen closed too early in the evening and we were there competing at an event so arrived home late and the kitchen had already closed.
Review 73:Everything. Beds were super comfortable, breakfast was amazing. Staff were excellent.
Review 74:All extras like swimming pool sauna closed. Bathroom hmmm 4 stars joke:) Breakfast 16 euro per person was ok but nothing special.
Review 75:Friendly staff and good location
Review 76:Wellness out of order, but I was informed about it in advance and accepted. Rainy weather.
Review 77:Nice location in green area of the Utrecht. Very kind staff.
Review 78:The staff here were excellent; always helpful. They spoke perfect English. One of them kindly gave us a restaurant recommendation and booked a table for us. Comfortable rooms and a good (if slightly pricey) breakfast. Spotlessly clean. A good hotel :-)
Review 79:Pricing is good at this hotel, rooms are large, well appointed and clean. We took a cab to the downtown area for dinner, 7 ppl, 17 euros. We had our own vehicle but we all wanted a few drinks. The historic section of Utrecht is gorgeous. We ate at Humphrys which I would highly recommend, 3 courses for 25 euros and right on the canal. This hotel has parking available for a vehicle, which would be difficult to find in the historic section. We will be back to Utrecht at the end of our holiday but will choose a more central hotel in downtown as we will not have a car, otherwise this hotel would have been perfect.
Review 80:Swimming pool was not available when we were there - although we were advised of this in advance. Initial external impression is of an economy hotel although this is not justified by the interior. It's about 15 minutes walk to public transport and you have to pay around 7 euros / day to park in the hotel car park.
Review 81:Rooms were spacious, comfortable and well equipped. Breakfast and dinner in the restaurant were good and reasonable value.
Review 82:1. Rooms are nice while look a bit less new than on the Hotel page the way the expectation was a bit higher than the real impression. 2. Wireless Internet Connection was not always possible since the login mostly did not work after 5 attempts and speed avg. is 600kb/s which is a bit slow in my opinion. 3. Tidiness of first room was average since I found several hairs in the bathroom (Sink, Bath)... 2nd room was ok but still several places with dust. 4. The city Tax of Utrecht was not informed upfront when booking on Booking.com which normally should somehow be mentioned
Review 83:1. Lake view is great in the morning. 2. Quiet place without noise 3. Near Downtown Utrecht 4. The Service employees were very polite and friendly.
Review 84:My room was situated right beside the path and road to the car park. Not a problem at night, but very irritating if needing to rest during the day. I paid to upgrade to a room in a different location for the second half of my stay. The rooms are not 'luxe'. There was no draw space at all, the towels were very un-fluffy, and the paper cups were take-away type cups. I asked for, and was given 'proper' cups and spoons!
Review 85:Hotel restaurant/bar very good, food and service good, food available 10am-10pm. Buffet breakfast plentiful and leisurely, good value for 16 euros. Terrace beside lake lovely in good weather. Internet cafe very good.
Review 86:unfortunately the pool was being refurbished during our stay, the hotel website made this clear. We had dinner one evening and we found the food to be poorly cooked, however the management did compensate for this
Review 87:the rooms were very clean and comfortable, the location is wonderful, the staff are very professional and polite, parking is easy and reasonably priced. We would recommend this hotel to all.
Review 88:Nothing really although I was puzzled at the room numbering. We had room 574 on the third floor and I kept thinking it was 374! However they did not tidy the bathroom towel each day.
Review 89:The staff were friendly and efficient
Review 90:Not enough disabled parking bays. 3 of the 4 nights there was no parking available at all. On 2 of the nights the disabled parking bays were taken by a coach!!
Review 91:Exceptionally clean and close to family that live in Bilthoven
Review 92:Avoid a ground floor room facing the parking.
Review 93:Comfortable hotel and convenient if you come by car. It is located near the ring of Utrecht although the traffic noise is not annoying. At first we got a room on the ground floor and at the back with views to the parking. We asked for a change of room and a very helpful receptionist gave us a room facing the lake (with an increase of the price). The change was worth it and we enjoyed our stay a lot! The breakfast is abundant and good and in a pleasant room by the lake.
Review 94:This is actually not an Utrecht hotel but a hotel outside of the city. Wanna see a city center? Choose another one! Pretty expensive, given the location. It would make your life easier if come by car.
Review 95:If you are travelling to Utrecht and want to take a bike (in the hotel, it was pretty expensive though) and go to the countryside, then it will fit you perfectly.
Review 96:Ive stayed at mitland lots of times over the years , i found this time that standards had slipped a lot , the swimming pool was closed and it stated on there website it will be closed the week after not the time of our stay , the food in the restaurant was not any where as good as it used to be and the rooms need repainting as there is lots of marks on the walls , shame as i rated this hotel as one of the best before this stay
Review 97:friendly staff and great bar and a kettle in the room
Review 98:Close to the park but far from the city centre. Even a bit far from the closest bus stop, but this is the reason why we could spent relaxed time without noisy surroundings.
Review 99:Quiet location beside a nice green park. Nice restaurant with good wines, and kind staff. And a cute gift of a duck for my little daughter in a bathroom!
Review 100:Would be great if you provided robes, since you have a sauna, steam room and swimming pool
Review 101:Loved the facilities - bowling, sauna, pool. Bed was also great!
Review 102:A very clean comfortable hotel. We were upgraded to a suite at no extra cost. Restaurant meals were very good and reasonably priced.Staff very friendly and helpful.
Review 103:Our room was unfortunately right next to a long corridor, which made it rather noisy at times from passing guests.
Review 104:The hotel is in a pleasant parkland area, surrounded by water. The staff were friendly and attentive.
Review 105:- Location is not great: you need to take a bus from the station, and it is a 15-20 minute walk to the city center. - A bit pricey for my room size.
Review 106:- Very nice setting in a park. - Good restaurant and breakfast. - Nice bar, restaurant and lobby area. - Contains a fitness center pool (though both are small) - Friendly and polite staff.
Review 107:Fitness area is a JOKE! A small square room with treadmill and three other fitness equipments inside. Similarly with the pool, it is actually so small that in 3 days I haven't seen anyone wanting to use it, including myself. No one prior arrival (neither Mitland hotel or booking.com) has informed me that 50 euro deposit needed to be paid otherwise they wouldn't let me check-in. It wasn't a big deal, but people should know about such things! The area around the hotel smells like a farm and generally outdoor pics are nicer than the whole thing in real. Ovarall value for money was not that good (240euros/ 2nights + 5% city tax). Far in advance I booked Deluxe Double Room on the ground floor, instead I was given a smaller room on the third floor.
Review 108:Nice and comfy but small room, fantastic size and bed comfort, tea & coffee making facilities, bath and shower. Polite and helpful staff when needed, a very useful map of Utrecht attached to your room card kit. Easy and not long (25 mins approx) walking distance to the city centre, also bus connections are good. Overall pleasant and quiet stay.
Review 109:Everything was pretty good except that the echoing noise in the hallway was loud if you wanted to sleep later...
Review 110:The hotel and property were lovely, would be very beautiful in spring and summer as it seems like it is a nature area. Restaurant was great :) Pool was nice too,
Review 111:it is strange for a four star hotel,at checking in, nobody is on the front desk. When ringing the bell, available for you, she comes telling you she will be there in a couple of minutes. Why do you receive only one key; when you need one for the power i the rm, and another one for the entrance of the swimming pool; The room was cold upon arrival. busy hotel with non-residents
Review 112:Nice and efficient bath room swimming pool OK spacious room
Review 113:Price for food is really high compared to other equivalent hotels. The room on the ground floor was located next to the parking gate and really noisy. Rooms seem to have an extreme poor insulation as I could hear every car and pedestrian as if they were in the same room with me. Temperature in the room was also a big issue as I could no heat up the room, although 2 heaters were constantly running.
Review 114:Really helpful and friendly staff, clean rooms, good free Wi-Fi coverage, nice and cozy bar with view on the lake, delicious food and excellent service in the restaurant.
Review 115:It didn't look exactly like a 4 stars hotel!
Review 116:I liked everything, in general was very nice! I found it very nice that at the end of our staying they offer an invoice with all the details and also a prove with the cancelation of the credit card, most of the hotels don't do that considering that you don't really need it !
Review 117:food was OK, but lacked a little "something"; the bed was a bit too soft for my taste.
Review 118:pool, sauna, free and well-working wifi, friendly and efficient staff.
Review 119:Too far from Centre particularly considering cost compared with more central hotels - taxis eat up much more than the difference.
Review 120:Helpful staff, clean and comfortable room and bathroom.
Review 121:Some smear marks on bathroom door and mould in the fridge let down an otherwise fair room. Weak wifi signal. The restaurant is over priced for the quality of food. The staff are fair but not overly attentive, polite or thoughtful.
Review 122:Surprisingly large family room with a great view over the water and nearby island replete with wandering sheep. Decent pool and sauna facilities and the breakfast was ample if not stunning. If you find yourself marooned on the edge of Utrecht for a day it is perfectly comfortable.
Review 123:Although, we were allowed a dog. We were suprised by a set of rules given upon arrival - which some are understandable and acceptable but compared to other hotels in Europe they made too many rules, which restricted our stay. I don't disagree with these but wish i had known before the booking also the pet charge was quite high compared with other hotels.
Review 124:Comfortable suite with lake views from front and back of the hotel. Excellent food, 100 points to the chefs and friendly, helpful staff.
Review 125:The beer is a bit pricy!
Review 126:This is my second vist to the hotel as a base to visit the Jaarbeurs Mega Record & CD Fair and explore the City. The Hotel has added advantage of a car park.
Review 127:The restaurant food was very disappointing. The gym does not have the equipment on the pictures, but very old ones instead. The rooms are dated, simple, again, 3 star quality. Which is OK if you werent paying 4 star prices.
Review 128:Great surroundings and access to nature, and easy access to the city if you have a car. The room was very plain, 3 star quality, but we did sleep well.
Review 129:There was an fire alarm in the middle of the night (2:30). People were running out of their rooms, down to the basement. Nobody knew what was actually happening. Later I found out that somebody had smoked in the room and the alarm went one, which nobody managed to stop until it went on in the entire hotel. No apology or anything came from the hotel. In general I think the quality/price ratio of the hotel was pretty low. Also the air-conditioning in the room was very noisy and was only working while I was in the room.
Review 130:Just a bit further away from the city centre, options for eating limited close to the hotel and limited options for vegetarian food
Review 131:Excellent facilities, spacious family room, friendly staff.
Review 132:There were no bath towels in my room upon check in, and the breakfast was not what an American tourist would normally eat. I considered the breakfast to be borderline disgusting.
Review 133:Friendly staff and a beautiful property. Indoor pool and sauna, jacuzzi and steam room..
Review 134:The hotel building is a bit 70's looking but not really an issue.
Review 135:Location just a short walk and 6 minute bus ride to downtown Utrecht, bus literally no more than 2 minutes apart. Nice large clean room, looked recently refurbished. Lovely park setting.
Review 136:Quite pricey for location but I assume it's because it is primarily a business hotel.
Review 137:Liked the fact the hotel was about 20 minutes walk from centre of town with plenty of surrounding greenery. Friendly staff, good bowling alley attached, decent steam room and sauna.
Review 138:Poor layout of hotel-- rooms, lobby and parking.Had to pay for parking which is strange since it was not located in the city and there was lots of parking available. Price was too high when comparing it to other hotels.
Review 139:It was comfortable and clean.
