Reviews for Jacobs Creek Retreat at Moorooroo Park
Review 1:The 'suite' was absolutely nothing like the picture on the internet. It was run down, mosquito infested and far from luxurious. The room was too tiny for 2 suitcases. Very disappointing as this was the most expensive of the rooms booked on our trip and was meant to be the highlight of our holiday not the low point.
Review 2:The gardens were beautiful as was the breakfast pavilion.
Review 3:the property looks at bit tired, needs some " love" . Pool not clean, areas where things had been dumped & looked untidy, & generally looks like some overall maintenance is required especially for the price per night. Deceptive advertising indicating food available which is not the case ( only breakfast )
Review 4:Garden area spectacular
Review 5:There needs to be some lighting in the gardens area around the rooms. It was quite dark at night and I kept tripping up the stairs.
Review 6:The setting of the retreat is off the beaten track but that adds to the romance of the place. It is so peaceful and tranquil. It is the perfect romantic getaway. The rooms are wonderful and the cellar door is is quaint. The country gardens are beautiful and the smell of the blossoms are just gorgeous.
Review 7:Spa bath didn't work despite the fact the staff said she had tested it. The cost of the accommodation would have been based on the fact that our room had a luxurious spa bath
Review 8:Magnificent gardens Great breakfast-pleasant environment
Review 9:Lovely and private. A little expensive for the larger rooms. Next time we will be happy with the smaller rooms which are a lot cheaper.
Review 10:Lovely garden and setting. Great breakfast. Clean rooms and great Spa bath
Review 11:Accommodation was in a room which needed dusting and painting overall. The bed was large and comfortable and very clean. Lovely bathroom but with a non-functioning spa! The toiletries were very sparse and needed to be replenished each day. Quite expensive by comparison with other similar accommodation.
Review 12:Gorgeous gardens and breakfast room.We loved the peace and quiet of the surroundings. Delicious and tantalizing breakfast spread which was served by very attentive and personable staff. It was curious not to see anyone at the cellar door as we would have been interested in a tasting. There seemed to be a shortage of staff in general!
Review 13:Bit cold in the bedroom. Heater from lounge room didn't really push any warmth into the bedroom
Review 14:Service was friendly, breakfast was delicious, room was very impressive
Review 15:None really just the room we were in ok for me only problem for wife to climb steps to loft, if we come again we would stay in a cottage other wise great.
Review 16:The location and layout of the set up was out of this world just like being in France or Italy wow.
Review 17:No WiFi within private room, only available in communal lounge/ dining.
Review 18:Beautiful landscaped grounds, friendly & helpful staff, quaint cottage buildings.
Review 19:Loved it all. Only disliked leaving !
Review 20:There's so much to live here. The beautifully appointed room with spa bath and four poster bed. The glorious gardens, the yummy country breakfast and the helpful staff. Plus a winery and wine tasting on site and fantastic location.
Review 21:Room felt cramped. Not keen on having the coffee machine share the same space as the toilet. Bathroom needs updating.
Review 22:Beautiful setting, great breakfast. Love the big towels.
Review 23:The property needs some tlc. It's meant to be a bit distressed to add to old world charm but it's a bit too distressed. The toilet in our room broke and as they were fully booked we had to listen to water running all night long. The noise of the reverse cycle heating largely drowned out the water noise but my hubby had to wear ear plugs which I don't think should be required at $460 a night! There is no satellite TV and no options to eat anywhere in walking distance. Breakfast on premises was very basic buffet style. At $250 a night this would be a good hotel but i don't feel the prices they are charging are justified.
Review 24:The staff were very helpful before arrival and booked a tour, dinner and a taxi on my behalf. The rooms are spacious and well equipped and there is a cellar door on the property. The property is tucked away and beautifully secluded.
Review 25:Only one small thing was the fridge didn't seem to be very cold but every thing else was perfect.
Review 26:Beautiful room with great character, amazing gardens, friendly helpful staff would certainly stay here next time we are in the barossa.
Review 27:Nothing. It was perfect.
Review 28:Beautiful gardens. Stunning pool. King orchard suite is gorgeous with comfy bed and heaven spa bath and double head shower. Nice private courtyard. Friendly service. Will definitely be coming back. Reccommend to all couples for a romantic getaway.
Review 29:The room was perfect for my pre-wedding photos. The bed was huge and very comfy. The staff were 1st class and the grounds are just beautiful. I planned to moan about the lack of tap to fill the kettle (unless I used the bath tap) but I wasn't charged for the bottled water so that made up for it. I would have liked a full-length mirror but that's a miniscule complaint :) Oh and the breakfast was delicious!
Review 30:I thought that this was part of Jacobs Creek wines. There is no restaurant, no bar and a $20 cab ride into town for a meal or a drink. For the money I expected more.
Review 31:Great gardens and rooms. Great place for a very quiet getaway.
Review 32:This is and absolutely beautiful setting with superb, period buildings, spectacularly restored and an incredible breakfast.
Review 33:Everything
Review 34:We liked the character of the homestead, its location and the staff were very friendly.
Review 35:Friendly service, great location, beautiful gardens and setting, peace and quiet a good chance to slow down and relax in the heart of the Barossa.
Review 36:Beautiful gardens and comfortable room. Excellent breakfast. Perfect place to spend a quick getaway.
Review 37:The grounds could have been better presented, less weeds, ponds cleaned.
Review 38:The room and grounds were fantastic
Review 39:Relaxing & luxurious
Review 40:breakfast open too late 9am no room service options if hungry during the night
Review 41:Location, privacy, bed quality
Review 42:Property needs maintenance
Review 43:Friendly staff- nice breakfast
Review 44:Noisy aircon, parking a long way from room, low hanging candelabra on which I hit my head
Review 45:Size & fit out of the room, nice antique feel
Review 46:A really lovely and relaxing spot. Beautiful setting... Lovely garden!
Review 47:Didn't stay on enough.
Review 48:Beautiful place wish stayed longer to completely relax in the beautiful gardens and pool.
Review 49:A bit run down in places
Review 50:Peacefully, friendly nice pool area
Review 51:Gardens, pool area, cosy cottage feel.
Review 52:Sunken spa bath, tough for mature couple Small room No restaurant
Review 53:Beautiful grounds. Wonderful cellar door Breakfast
Review 54:Very hard to find even with a GPS.
Review 55:Great place to relax, beautiful gardens and grounds. Very welcoming.
Review 56:Garden not well maintained Poorly designed ensuite
Review 57:Old stone buildings and gardens Country location near wineries
Review 58:Need more lounges around the pool, needs to be heated.
Review 59:Loved the surrounds, love the pool.
Review 60:The loft room is dark dated dirty and awkward to get around it needs an update to reflect it's lovely surrounding
Review 61:We were in one of the loft suites and had a possum living in the roof, so we were woken 3-4 am both mornings, until we banged on the roof and it disappeared for awhile. Room was rustic but bordering on being a bit shabby. Bathroom needs updating. Pretty basic really for the price. Limited toiletries, no tissues. Breakfast ok, again basic.
Review 62:Very pretty location and quaint place, grounds were lovely. Nespresso machine in room was great! Host was knowledgeable and friendly.
Review 63:We had 2 rooms but neither Jacuzzi worked, the rooms were very dark and outdoor furniture poor. There were no dining facilities in the evening and it was a long taxi ride into town.
Review 64:The gardens are beautiful and breakfast was good. The rooms are nicely furnished with pictures and antiques. There is a lovely swimming pool.
Review 65:The fridge and coffee making in the bathroom, we loved the coffee machine, but felt if they took just one chair out of the main room they could neatly stow the kitchen equipment.
Review 66:This is a real hideaway, the gardens are magnificent and even and have an Alice in Wonderland feel. The pavilion breakfast was unhurried and a offered high quality selection of foods. Really they couldn't do enough for you - big contrast to cash and wrap of big resorts
Review 67:I only stayed 1 night. Wish I could have stayed 2nights and experience the pizza lunch and more time to relax in the gardens.
Review 68:The whole experience was wonderful. Beautiful rooms, gardens and grounds. Delicious breakfast too.
Review 69:Room was bit out dates and needed fixtures fixed. the mini bar was pretty average. there was no DVD player as stated and the room needed a really good clean.
Review 70:The winery was very cute and the platter with the tasting was great. Charles was nice very informative and the breakfast was beautiful.
Review 71:Everything was fantastic.
Review 72:We especially like the personal welcome and tour from Charles. This is a lovely place to stay and we totally enjoyed our stay. Breakfast cooked and presented personally by Charles was terrific. What a great place and a truly lovely man. We hope to return again. Would recommend to couples as a perfect place to stay.
Review 73:There is not a single fault to be found anywhere. This place is paradise.
Review 74:Jacobs Creek Retreat is just a beautiful location. It has the fantastic combination of location, location, location along with really friendly staff. Being greeted with a wine tasting was a great start to our stay. The first wine was a "Wow". Every experince from that point on was another "Wow".
Review 75:dirt road leading into the resort Needs more cupboards for toiletries and clothing
Review 76:Wonderful walk through of the property with Charles stillness of the area lovely birds in the morning Very comfortable bed Nice calm music Great warm showers
Review 77:- only acrylic glasses - not good if you want to drink fine French champagne - spider web and dust behind the hand basin - no welcome gift, chocolates or biscuits/nuts for a special occasion - only enough milk for two coffees -- poorly painted kitchenette cupboards in the room - very basic breakfast - no Vegemite, no newspaper, paper, no other bread than white bread, no bakery items, no other choice for eggs other than scrambled - did not feel there was any wow factor with this stay in this retreat. It was not value for $450 when compared with other resorts that class themselves as luxury and the extras that they do.
Review 78:Friendly staff and the winery where you can do wine tasting, lovely garden
Review 79:Trees & plants, outdoor benches, chairs and metal fencing not well kept and attended to, e.g. rust all over outdoor chairs rendering them impossible to sit on. No in-house dining facility other than short 1 hour limited spread breakfast road leading to resort no lighting at all at night rendering the drive in and drive out at night unpleasant and spooky
Review 80:Overall ambience, rustic and serene in constitution Seclusion, away from usual small town crowd Exclusiveness unlike the usual square blockish and emotionless motel like setting expected of all small town hotels
Review 81:Winter is very cold for stone buildings, particularly those with tiled floors. Would have appreciated complimentary slippers or thick socks. Electric blankets on bed would also be a bonus for chilled travelers. One of the couple staying has food allergies, which were specified in the original booking: would have appreciated appropriate non dairy products in fridge for coffee machine.
Review 82:Cottages were charming and nicely appointed. Grounds were beautifully laid out and reflected the style of the area and its history. Lovely details in use of recycled materials - a very organic feel. Easy to find and good parking. A great place to relax and enjoy the bounty of the Barossa! Friendly, helpful and attentive staff who appear to enjoy working at the retreat.
Review 83:The name Jacobs Creek is confusing as you think that the retreat isconnected to the winery. It has nothing to do with it. Some areas likethe balconies around some of the rooms need some repair as there arecracks and some surfaces are uneven.
Review 84:Good location to the Barrosa valley. Tasty breakfast served. The ownerof the property was very attentive and helpful.
Review 85:The staff were friendly and helpful. The grounds were breathtaking. The suite was luxurious. The breakfasts were delicious. I will be back. It was fabulous.
Review 86:Absolutely stunning setting with beautiful and distinct accommodation options. Definitely get the luxury feel with the decor in the rooms and the exclusivity with the maximum number of guests at the most being 20 per night
Review 87:Not a decent tv in bedroom. No remote. Lack of toiletries in bathroom.
Review 88:Beautiful gardens and surroundings. Nice comfortable bed. Nice breakfast and pleasant staff.
Review 89:This is a retreat; a get away from it all, private place. So don't expect 24 hour butler service and there's no restaurant for dinner.
Review 90:It was a special place, with excellent accommodation in original historic buildings and stunning surroundings. You gets hat you pay for and it didn't disappoint. A must for the discerning traveller.
Review 91:uor room needed a full length mirror and some moisturiser would have been ideal along with the shampoo and soap.
Review 92:Quality of accomodation, friendliness of staff and beautiful gardens
Review 93:Needs digital TV, better radio service, perhaps a selection of CD's (other than Pavaroti) and DVD's to watch or at least foxtel available. Just more inhouse entertainment.
Review 94:Peaceful and quiet, clean and comfortable.
Review 95:Nothing! Loved every minute. The only thing I didn't like was having to leave on our last day, could have stayed for weeks!
Review 96:The retreat is just amazing, very private and homely. Gardens are breathtaking and tranquil. We enjoyed a really lovely afternoon in the gardens with a cheese platter & bottle of wine organised by the staff. It was one of the most luxurious and romantic holidays ever. Very old fashioned cottages which are decorated and fitted out with modern furnishings. We stayed in a loft suite which was gorgeous. Breakfast is wonderful with great coffee too. Don't forget the fabulous Cellar Door at the retreat, the Sparkling Shiraz is a MUST!
Review 97:One small point. They don't do evening meals, although Tanunda is very close.
Review 98:Set in beautiful grounds. Histroic buildings furnished in traditional style but with modern day luxuries (eg coffee machine). Friendly and welcoming staff.
Review 99:It was very quaint and picturesque. It felt very private. The staff werevery friendly and helpful. They recommend some great restaurants andthen they booked the ones we choose and the taxis for us. It was a verycentral locations to all the winery'S. The cooked breakfast everymorning was a fantastic way to start the day. We would love to go backand stay again.
Review 100:I chose your retreat because we wanted a quiet weekend away and a bit ofromance - the main interest was the spa bath that did not work...Instead we had to listen to the very close neighbouring room having sexand their spa bath working! Overall the breakfast and welcoming staffwere fantastic!
Review 101:The welcoming staff and peaceful surroundings.
Review 102:Only thing missing was a place to have dinner. The breakfast room islovely so having an evening meal here would be perfect. The localtownship of Tanunda does not have a lot to offer after 5pm food wise.
Review 103:What a beautiful place and a credit to the owners and staff. If you arelooking for a relaxing place to stay look no further. The addition ofthe two friendly cats on the property makes it very homely. The gardensare stunning, the breakfast a real delight and the staff whilst veryprofessional are informative and friendly. We stayed in the Sevillecottage and it was beautiful. Great location for visiting all the localcellar doors. Guys if you want to impress your wife, take her here!
Review 104:Everything perfect what more can I say
Review 105:Love the remoteness of the location and the history. Lovely staff, nothing too much trouble....
Review 106:Nothing at all to dislike. Nothing.
Review 107:Just stunning, one of the nicest places I have ever stayed. Staff were incredible.
Review 108:very specia land nice location, a place to go and be! Very friendly staff.

Review 110:Felt peaceful and private there.
Review 111:All good.
Review 112:The welcome from host Charles; the peaceful and delightful gardens and such a beautiful general setting. Rooms delightful and comfortable.
Review 113:Nothing
Review 114:The beautiful fragrant gardens, the lovely stone cottages, the peace, the whole thing we didn't want to leave
Review 115:bathroom downstairs from bedroom
Review 116:Gardens, old buildings
Review 117:We had no hot water, until 11pm at night due to gas cylinders not checked.
Review 118:Quiet, laid back, comfortable.
Review 119:No dinning facility
Review 120:All very good
Review 121:Staff were amazing and so attentive, booking restaurants and taxis for you to make sure you didn't miss out.
Review 122:awesome location, beautiful and cosy rooms, large quiet park. Friendly and very helpful stuff. HIGHLY recommendable
Review 123:Not worth the money. No wi-fi. No pool.
Review 124:Big room, lovely location
Review 125:the gardens & the stillness. very relaxing
Review 126:Not a thing perfect 10 out of 10.
Review 127:The whole place is amazing, pure indulgence and a place you wont forget in a hurry ...cant wait to go back.
