Review 1：The price was definitely high-end. However, the hotel did everything in it power to make our stay memorable.

Review 2：The staff pampered us from start to finish. The only thing my wife and I had to do was relax and enjoy onsen and their hospitality. The hotel was tuck into the side of a mountain and secluded with any traffic or people. I know there are other guests at the hotel, but the staff did a wonderful job of making it feel as if we had the whole place to ourselves. The dinner and breakfast was beautifully presented and supremely delicious.

Review 3：There is not much in Atami and we made a special journey to Fufu. To be fair the modern ryokan is well-appointed and serves good food. However, as a destination trip it was lacking in charm, design and the wow factor. The little stream running in front of the hotel bodes of a location close to nature and the rock sculpture in front of the entrance gives a sense of arrival, however, the rest of the design doesn't really live up to it. The tiny lobby is awkward and we were made to wait for 20 min in a waiting area/restaurant before being checked in. The public rotenburo is not particularly enticing, rather clinical and austere, not sure the zen aesthetic was achieved there. Our rooms were spacious enough, one had a hammock in the outside area and the other had a small deck table. However, I wonder if the decor couldn't be updated. There was no comfy chair or sofa to watch TV. Communication was tiring as limited English was spoken and requests/questions had to be repeated to different people. I wonder if they could consider assigning one staff to certain guests so that meals, transportation, requests could be handled more seamlessly.

Review 4：The little touches, complimentary drinks in the minibar, nespresso machine, yukata robes, yoghurt drinks in the communal bath. We didn't use them but they were thoughtful touches. Kaiseki dinner was delicious and Japanese breakfast was satisfying. Liked the roof terrace, a bit of open space.

Review 5：The room we stayed in looked nothing like the pictures on this website. Our room was on the second floor so didn't have the nice outdoor area nor did it have a hammock like the pictures for the comfort King show. Instead our room had windows that didn't open so spent my "relaxing" vacation in a room with the AC cranked, instead of enjoying the nice mountain breeze in my hammock like i pictured.
