Reviews for La Digue Island Lodge
Review 1:Everything was good except poor communication between hotel and clients. Over christmas and new year of course things change, and the hotel laid on special buffets in the evening - but as a client we were not informed what was happening.
Review 2:Good location, friendly helpful staff, good villas, clean and well equipped set in beautiful gardens right on the edge of the beach. Lovely friendly welcome and a free transfer was a nice surprise from the ferry to the hotel.
Review 3:Hotel check-in took a bit long.
Review 4:Ferry pick-up and drop-off was very well organized. The resort grounds were very well maintained and the hotel staff was knowledgable about sights around the island. We stayed in an A frame house and loved the privacy!
Review 5:- you can hear the A/C of the bungalow in front of you when sitting outside - no mosquito nets at the windows - dinner buffet was a bit boring after a few times - watch out for the little caterpillars, especially when lying under the trees. Some people are allergic
Review 6:- even with the gardenview bungalow you are almost at the beach - very nice bathroom - very relaxed and quiet atmosphare - friendly owner (Italian) - big selection at breakfast buffet with a cook for your choice of eggs - with a bike you are flexible to go for dinner in La Passe
Review 7:Since La Digue is a place where majority of tourists spend no more than one or two nights and La Digue Island Lodge is one of the most comform hotels on an island personal of the hotel has no motivation to be client oriented. I've been there in 2008 and WiFi was only in the lobby - by 2015 nothing has changed - it's still only in the lobby only. no renovation or refreshment of the rooms - still the same...
Review 8:Great place to see a sunset and amazing view on Praslin
Review 9:The room did not feel clean. Every request in the hotel had a service charge. There is no room service and if you forgot to eat before 10 pm there were no options left. There was no safe in the room although it was promised.
Review 10:Location of the room was near the water.
Review 11:Staff at check out time were quite young and curt! Almost spoiled the wonderful stay I had there.
Review 12:Wonderful location with the majority of the staff working hard to make certain you have a wonderful holiday. Great food! Fantastic individual attention showed to each guest! A lovely paradise.
Review 13:- the fact that even though we were on half board, they made us pay 35 euros per person for new year's eve dinner at checkout...without informing us that there was an additional fee. Had they told us, we would have maybe chosen another restaurant. They told us it was included in our half-board, but finally it wasn't.
Review 14:- The room - the closeness to the beach - the pool bar
Review 15:There is no need to pay the rather excessive transfer fee from the jetty if you have light baggage. The walk to the resort is such an awesome experience on its own. If you do opt to walk, ensure that you are not automatically charged for the return transfers when you check-out.
Review 16:La Digue is truly an exceptional island and this resort is very well situated for all those places you need to visit on the island. Hire a bike from near the hotel reception area. The receptionist from Nepal was so welcoming when we arrived at the resort. The staff in general, especially at the restaurant, were extremely friendly and made us feel as if we had been there for months. The beach villa was tastefully decorated and the view from the loungers was stunning. Thank you for a magical experience.
Review 17:WiFi in common areas seldom worked properly, but that might be the service provider, not the hotel's fault. A little pricey, but again, maybe all other hotels are pricey here, too.
Review 18:Excellent location, close to everything you could ask for. Wife is vegetarian, I cannot eat heavy food due to recent surgery, still we both found enough to gorge on at breakfast and dinner buffets. So, very good food. Helpful and courteous staff.
Review 19:Nothing
Review 20:The serene, lush green environment and waking up to the singing birds.
Review 21:Dinner is really too expensive.
Review 22:The room.is nice and the swimming.pool is great too.
Review 23:In my birthday, during dinner, the musician sang me the happy birthday song, and the hotel staff gave me a cake. Very thoughtful :-)
Review 24:very nice location and surrounding. you can walk to famous source d'argent.
Review 25:- nil
Review 26:● Helpfulness of the staff
Review 27:No bad experience.
Review 28:Close to beach. Close to village and ferry access. Enjoyed riding bikes around the island.
Review 29:Comfort of the room and lack of fan
Review 30:Location and global service
Review 31:not customer oriented, overrated
Review 32:beach and internal gardens
Review 33:A la carte menu not very good bar service poor We ate out most days as hotel food was very average and expensive
Review 34:Great location friendly staff
Review 35:less food choice
Review 36:nice view
Review 37:meals can be improved but still good
Review 38:everything
Review 39:some negative feelings about room
Review 40:location and service
Review 41:Wifi not available in the rooms
Review 42:Front ocean room Big room
Review 43:Owned by a resident of La Digue who personally takes an interest in the property
Review 44:The breakfast was dreadful. The worst we have ever had. Old eggs, mouldy fruit (only a few pieces on offer) and soggy toast.
Review 45:Most of the staff were helpful. The room was nice and modern
Review 46:Poor service. We were requested to switch rooms when we were in our room. We had to go back to the reception desk ourselves to hand-in the key and ask for the key of our new room, as nobody of the hotel took any initiative to take care of this. The room was quite outdated. The hostess told us to be at the reception desk at 6am for check-out and for paying the bill, but nobody was there. Finally someone arrived, but the bill was not prepared. We mentioned that we had to leave at 6.30am the latest in order to catch the boat back to Mahe at 7am. It took them 40 minutes to prepare the bill. When we wanted to leave for the boat, we were called back as there was a problem with the bill. Together with another visitor we were not allowed to leave until the bill issue was sorted out. Finally, we were allowed to go after paying the €20 (!!!!) which they forgot to put on the bill. We would have missed the boat back if the captain did not wait until 7.10am to leave to Mahe. It seems that the hotel employees still need to learn a lot about service and treating their visitors.
Review 47:The location is nice and the food was good.
Review 48:Pricey but it is worth considering all aspects.
Review 49:Chalets are designed well and maintained well. The garden around the Chalets are superb. Good guidance from the staff. Good food. Photo-scenic all around.
Review 50:There are a lot of both big and small details that add up to very poor communication between staff and guests and thus low value for the money. Some examples are:a. Maid kept leaving us the wrong number of towelsb. The reservation clerk supposedly did not get an email from us clarifying that we needed a double room. When we got there we were left sitting in the lobby for three hours--the lodge was fully booked--without any clear communication from them about what was going on. They seemed utterly indifferent to our comfort and it was a very unwelcoming introduction to the resort.c. When they finally found a room big enough for us (one room with a king size bed and an extra cot for my daughter) no one told us the rate for that room, which was significantly higher than what our confirmation said on Booking.com. This caused a major problem four days later at check-out time when they would not take responsibility for their errors in communication.d. After the first day when they finally got us into our room (with apologies and attention from the manager only after we had been waiting three hours) we were told to return to the front desk to get our introductory briefing about the island. When I returned to do so, the clerk turned her back on me and said something to the other desk clerk that made her glance, embarrassed, at me. (We had been calm and clear in our communications at all times that day, no scenes.)e. As Americans, we did not know that "Half Board" meant breakfast and dinner until the last day, when a server in the dining room checked for us. We probably should have known this, but it would have been nice if someone had explained it to us.f. When I sent my 12 year old daughter off one day to buy herself some french fries, the bartender interrogated her about what room she was in and then refused to order them for her saying that "the kitchen was closed.
Review 51:The staff was courteous and friendly for the most part and the facilities were clean. The view from our room was beautiful.
Review 52:Total ocerboosted staff. Especially at new year evening. At a comlainment the hotel manager just turned around and leave us alone ! No attempts to avoid the "towel reservations" of the to sunbeds Which will be made at 0600 in the morning and then they are no shows! It is for sure more a low 3-star location then a 4star.
Review 53:Nice location with beautiful garden And parc.
Review 54:Price. Compulsory half board: even if the restaurant staff was friendly, they remained very slow when not a buffet. Arrive then late to be served in less than 2 hours! Food sometimes barely warm.
Review 55:Nice villas close to major attractions on the island. Gentle staff overall. Good pool. Restaurant just above the sand, nice for sunsets.
Review 56:Expensive.
Review 57:Great location by the beach. Lovely sea views. Comfortable, stylishchalets (especially the designer bathrooms). Attached dive centre.Stylish pool. Huge choice for breakfast. Evening buffet quite good.Staff very friendly and helpful. Transfers to jetty for ferry.
Review 58:Amenities were few considering the rating of the hotel. While they said they provided room service, it was almost impossible to order anything as they did not keep a menu in the room. In fact no information on the resort was kept in the room. Service was lacking. Overall not worth the price they charge.
Review 59:La Digue Island Lodge's location was superb. My beach chalet was just steps from the water. The food in the bar/pool area was very good.
Review 60:I do not like the staff reaction and service they re slow Also the dining area is sandy should be paved atleast by interlock without mortar
Review 61:The landscape and style of buliding.
Review 62:Nothing!!! But could have done without the dogs roaming around the beach
Review 63:Loved our chalet! It was huge! There was a lot of space in the room and the bathroom. The pool was perfect for relaxing! We had a lot of cocktails in the poolbar (sitting in the water). The beach side restaurant was one of a kind. Our table was literally 2 meters away from the beach water. Location couldnt be better as it was only a 10min cycle ride to Anse Source D'Argent (the cycle stand is right outside the hotel) Our stay was exotic!
Review 64:The breakfast buffet lacked fruit and a variety of breads, the blackouts every night. We had no torch in the room and it was pitch black in the room. The second night the blackouts occured 3 times within an hour. But we were told it happens a lot on that side of the resort at la Digue for some reason!
Review 65:The location was perfect, it was a very nice well maintained resort, staff was friendly and efficient.
Review 66:Not too much light at night to walk till your room but still managebale
Review 67:We too k a chalet which was nice and cozy The food is nice and tasty If a future trip planed in seychelles surely will go there.
Review 68:Conditioner could be changed to a new one.
Review 69:Very good hotel, beautiful beach and wonderful restaurant. Friendly and efficient stuff.
Review 70:the mezzanine very dangerous for the children
Review 71:The location the Chalet The dive center nearby
Review 72:Location is great, staff are nice and the food was good.
