Reviews for VIP Executive Arts Hotel
Review 1:A little mold spot in the wall.
Review 2:Nice staff, great location near Gare do Oriente and clean rooms. You can reach the station by walk and there's a lot of attractions nearby.
Review 3:disappointed with the state of the walls in the bedroom. Badly need a lick a paint. Corridor carpet looking very tired.
Review 4:If you want a clean bed and half decent breakfast at reasonable rates, this hotel is fine. However, the hotel rooms are looking tired and especially the walls need painting.
Review 5:It wasn't clean. Soiled towel and used soap found on bide when checked in. No other soap or shampoo. Elevators were broken 90% of the time. Although they had two credit cards on file, they required us to pay for our three rooms 1/2 way too brought stay. Dining room resembles a catering hall and was under staffed.
Review 6:Good location.
Review 7:I had to wait a long time to check in. The facilities were very basic but ok for the price.
Review 8:It was convenient to get to the airport. It was possible to get free on street parking.
Review 9:Elevators were only partially working, sometimes we had to wait 5 minutes for the elevator
Review 10:Location close to transport hub Modern hotel Spacious room Good views
Review 11:First days wifi was not available, and from the three elevators available most of the time only 1 was worling. What resulted in long waiting time for them.
Review 12:Location, room size and wooden floor.
Review 13:Should be cleaner for this kind of hotel and the TV quality is just ridiculous!
Review 14:The view is stunning! The hotel is great and the room is very comfortable.
Review 15:not a four star hotel, furniture old, tv not working, bed hard, when arrived at midnight only one elevator was working (out of 3), and there was a large queue, so we decided to climb 3 floors with our baggage, but those who had rooms on the 10th floor weren't that lucky,
Review 16:pretty big choice for breakfast, fast wifi
Review 17:Nothing, perfect
Review 18:The breakfast was by far my favorite part! Honestly, after visiting some of the best hotels in NYC Paris Dubai and London, I've never had such a complete, fresh and delicious breakfast. Next time I'm in town I'll definitely go there as a regular customer for breakfast!
Review 19:The heating system was out of order in my room and I had to sleep with my clothes on. Desk computers block most of the time. These need to be renewed and repaired.
Review 20:Good atmosphere in the reception largely due to D. Marisa's efficiency and professionalism. She should act as a trainer for many of her colleagues !!! She's always quick , organised and cordial.
Review 21:The outside look of the building is very deceiving... The rooms look very outdated, the furniture is not in good shape (scratches, stains on the walls, and so on). There's a lack of basic amenities not very common in a 4 star hotel: no slippers, no hair conditioner or hand cream, not even a soap plate.
Review 22:The hotel is located near train station and also only 3 metro stations away from the airport. The price was great for the season.
Review 23:as the name suggests, it's a hotel chain with a higher emphasis on perceived fancy-ness than on real quality
Review 24:not too far from train station, low off-season prices
Review 25:we were quite disappointed with the accommodations. First room had a strong smoke smell, we asked for a non smokers room. We had to ask to be moved to another room. Second room had a problem with the light fuses and light went off. Really bad for a 4 star hotel.
Review 26:Staff were really friendly
Review 27:Average dining experience.
Review 28:Modern hotel, accessible to both Lisbon city & the airport. Efficient & friendly staff. Well appointed comfortable rooms.
Review 29:Asked for single bed they gave us double and they didn´t told us that until we enter the room. Call the reception desk and they told that it was impossible to change. The room was turned to railway, so it was to much noise...
Review 30:It´s near train, subway and airport
Review 31:Matrasses have just been renewed during our stay which we had already talked about as i am pregnant and was not sleeping properly because of the uncomfortable old ones. Far much better now!!
Review 32:In the room which I was the wall need a new paint it's dirty, and I also could hear early in the morning voices from the corridor which made me wake up before the time. Once the alarm went on and I couldn't contact the reception couse the room phone was not working.
Review 33:The facilities are nice...
Review 34:When I arrived there was no luggage cart (or staff) on the outside of the hotel. The shower is inside the bathtub, and the position of the curtain (made of glass) that avoids the water being spilled all over the place makes it difficult to a big guy like me to leave the bathtub. Older people may have a substantial risk potential of slipping.
Review 35:The internet connection speed was, surprisingly, very good.
Review 36:A bit far out of city centre , but this was only 12 euros in taxi
Review 37:It was a great location for the rock and roll half marathon, close to the registration and finish.
Review 38:Hotel has no 4 Stars standard, you can observe that there has been no investment made since opening...lights not working in room...electricity plug-in missing( cables outside of the wall),wallpaper scratched, doors to the the room had to be slammed to close up the room...etc...
Review 39:Breakfast was overall ok
Review 40:The room was really comfortable. The view from the top floors is breathtaking and the staff is helpful and kind. Given the location and the service quality, it is a great value for money!
Review 41:AC unit didn't work properly. Funny smell in hallway. No iron or board in room. Limited towels and toilet paper. Shower design is flaw, leaks.
Review 42:Location
Review 43:Check in was too slow bearing in mind that they already had my details on the system (from previous stay). They can improve by also sending electronic receipts as oppose to paper ones.
Review 44:Location and price
Review 45:Needs renovation, rooms are quite old. Sleepers would be nice to have in a room
Review 46:I liked that the hotel was not far from the airport and shopping center Vasco da Gama as well as Oceanarium. The view is nice. The rooms are quite and clean, although you could see that the hotel is old since it was built for the Expo 1998, renovation wouldn't hurt. The price is good.
Review 47:Like so many other hotels these days, the room was too dimly lit, with no overhead light. I enjoy the relaxing ambience of dim lights, but sometimes need more light, especially on arrival.
Review 48:Enjoyed the art work, and the edginess and modernity of the hotel.
Review 49:The wi-fi does not function well (too slow or not at all). An issue if one must upload data to a remote server; Hydraulic pipe noises from adjacent rooms at night; smell of burned electrical wire coming from the bathroom toilet (?).
Review 50:The staff are really helpful and courteous.
Review 51:The hotel is getting old and starts to need some works.
Review 52:Hotel is conveniently situated. Decoration is modern. Free wifi works fine. Great value for the money.
Review 53:The potent smell of sewage outside the hotel the following morning. Can not be smelt inside so not a major issue.
Review 54:No idea why others were complaining about the dated interior. For the price and location this hotel was perfect.
Review 55:The evening meal left a lot to be desired. They ran out of chicken! and there were only 4 people in the restaurant.
Review 56:Very near to Orient Rail Station so good location for travel
Review 57:The room is good, but needs to be renovated. The furniture is broken, there was infiltration in the walls and the floor was ripped.
Review 58:Perfect location and espetacular view!
Review 59:Noise - a measure train station is just five minutes walk, yet the hotel windows aren't soundproof. In addition , the road in front of the hotel is quit busy, it's absolutely noisy , it's impossible to have a nice sleep.
Review 60:Good location, near transportation and restaurants
Review 61:We asked for a child bed that was not there at the arrival and took too long to be prepared, after we asked again at the reception. The lady that provided this service was not very freindly and did not apologise for the delay (late at night). The general condition of the hotel is a bit run down for a 4* hotel. The price is too high for the quality of the room.
Review 62:The location was excellent and the service at the front desk was very friendly. The breakfast was also excellent.
Review 63:The rooms need restauration. Although the rooms are clean, the wallpaper needs to be changed as there are areas where it's falling off the walls. Also the furniture is not the newest :) I had read about the elevators issue, and most of my stay there was at least one (out of 3) elevator not working. I did not find it to be a major problem, as having the room at the 5th floor and not having any physical disability, i found it easy to take the emergency stairs. Also the rooms are not sound proof and there is a lot of traffic noise (if you are a light sleeper, you might not be very happy about it)
Review 64:Good location, close to subway and mall; easy to reach to the city center. Good breakfast choice. Staff is friendly. Overall very good value for money, especially taking into account the corporate rate used.
Review 65:Rooms needs maintenance; windows could not be closed 100%; floor with craches and tiles broken; bulbs not working.
Review 66:Good location; near to public transport and shopping possibilities. Restaurant with good relation price/quality and good service.
Review 67:Location. Just a 1 night stay. 15mins cab ride from airport. Had a train to Porto next morning at 9.40am. Just a six minute walk to Lisbon Oriente train stn.
Review 68:The criticism of this hotel that the rooms are "worn" and need renovating, one side overlooks the railroad tracks, the elevators seem to always be "out of service for maintenance" are all valid.
Review 69:The location, the splendid view from most rooms and the breathtaking elevators lobbies on every floor (all glass, the price which is deeply discounted for all of the above shortcomings. It is excellent value.
Review 70:room was not really tidy. The cleaning lady must be small as only the half of the mirror was ' clean'. A lot of spots everywhere...
Review 71:Location, breakfast
Review 72:Reception team is not that friendly. They gave us the right information and helped in what we needed but they acted robotic when talking to us.
Review 73:Location was perfect
Review 74:This is a minor issue - I thought the room was a bit too warm and tried unsuccessfully to lower the thermostat. The front desk said they would see what they could do, but when I returned later I didn't notice any difference.
Review 75:This is a nice, modern hotel located about 1/4 mile from the Oriente train station. I chose it for its location as I was only spending the night between flights. I actually spent two nights there in two separate rooms on trips a few days apart. The breakfast was amazing - I couldn't have wanted anything they didn't offer, and all of it was delicious. The staff was courteous and helpful.
Review 76:The name is prestigious. For this level of hotel, I would recommend staying at the nearby Ibis for half the price. Not even a breakfast included!
Review 77:relatively close to Oriente station
Review 78:amenities were awful. do not understand why the cafe bar is closed at weekends. trying to get a cup of coffee was horrendous. tried at bar but could not find anyone to serve. in the end we had to leave the hotel and walk to nearest cafe bar.
Review 79:location was very good.
Review 80:With the special rate I got I can't find any critics. I probably would find the normal rate too expensive for leisure, but that of course depends on the saison. It is also a good convention hotel.
Review 81:The room was spacious, the bathroom was a girls vintage dream, the room was stunning daylight-illuminated, charming, individual! It was such a comfortable stay that it felt luxury: The dark wood and the tall window is simply amazing. Yet I honestly say that I got a special rate, normal price for leisure is more critically seen. The breakfast was great! Friendly staff: housekeeping, Breakfast, reception.
Review 82:The room just didn't have that 'clean' feel to it -- it's obvious it's been around for some time, and the age is beginning to show. By far the worst part of the experience was the shower; while the water pressure was good in our 7th floor room, the temperature constantly fluctuated between freezing and near-boiling!
Review 83:While the room left something to be desired, the included breakfast was phenomenal! A tremendous spread!
Review 84:Everything else. This hotel does not deserve to get 4*. We booked this hotel for our last night in Portugal and we were very dissappointed. -First of all, the furnishing has already had its best days - and this must be a long time ago! -Then, of 4 elevators, only one works - your pity when your room is at floor 10. -But the worst: We had to get up very early the next morning but we didn't sleep a wink! Why? Well, this is because our room was on the back - and nobody has told us that there are tracks of the railway right next to the hotel which lead to biggest train station in Portugal. Not that this is all: A generator from somewhere in the hotel (?) made sleeping impossible! Just too noisy. So we went downstairs to complain and asked for another room. The only answer we got: "We are fully booked.". No earplugs, no help, and no sleep! Never ever again! We would have had more comfort in a non-* hostel downtown.
Review 85:- nice housekeeper
Review 86:Some lack of staff to help. The heavy style, or a little old style of the room and the inside decoration. The noise of air conditioned during the night, so we had to put off to be able to sleep.
Review 87:Place or location itself and for my business purposes.
Review 88:The staff is very unlikable and no case of 4 stars hotel. It took very long to check in and check out. To request information from the reception you have to wait long to be served. We asked rooms with king size single beds and we got twins. There were not enough towels in bathroom. The elevators were running slowly and I think one or two were out. The railway facing rooms are very noisy.
Review 89:The location is very good with parking places near. Initial price was interesting but after seeing the services and their quality disappointed us
Review 90:The A/C unit in the room could have been a bit more efficient. I am used to trains but some people may not like the (I believe main) train line at the back the hotel.
Review 91:Location close to the airport (2 stations away), the coast and a convenient shopping centre, very helpful staff, and a very good breakfast.
Review 92:The shower hose clearly leaked and could have easily been replaced by unscrewing. The water srpayed all over the bathroom making a shower impossible. We will be complaining to the hotel.
Review 93:Near airport
Review 94:There are only 3 elevators for 14 floors of rooms (one was out of service during my stay), so you have to wait up to fifteen minutes to go down. The breakfast area can be crowded with groups going on excursions.
Review 95:The view is amazing, rooms are spacious and well equipped (Although it's one room there's a distinct bedroom and living room areas). Breakfast is rich in choice and of good quality. Free wifi all round the hotel.
Review 96:Best days are already gone. It simply needs refurbishment. Also bathroom wasnt clean.
Review 97:It is 4 stars hotel indeed however its best days are home. Rooms have good standard and staff is helpful.
Review 98:Sound-protection from street very poor. When I entered the room I was certain a window was open, but no. The single-glass (?) windows did not match the overall quality of the hotel. The elevator capacity was poor = long waiting times. People on lower floors had to use the Chinese way to get down to the lobby, taking an upward elevator, going up and then down... (One of three elevators was out of service)
Review 99:Very good breakfast. Room space good.
Review 100:The one side of the hotel is covered by some type of drapery which makes terrible noise all the time. Especially it can bother during the night and it sounds infernal when you are in a bathroom. There is no any function of this stuff. So I hope they will remove it.
Review 101:Good location, basic big hotel with a piece of individuality. Great view from the top floors.
Review 102:Bed was very not comfy. Really pricy for the accomodations. I found some hair And body hairs in the bathtub. We could not open the window wide enough to ventilate, since it was a 6th Floor. Service at arrival was unpleasant. The girl had attended to 3 clients while she was attending me; not profesional.
Review 103:Great location.
Review 104:Staff not friendly, work like doing a favor. Do not have any room iron service, The room phone was disconnected and not repaired even after several complaint to the management. I booked double and wanted to give me two single bed without any excuse.
Review 105:High Floor see view
Review 106:The sheets were not very clean. The room was slightly damaged (mold on the walls, scratches on the furniture)
Review 107:Excellent wi-fi connection. Fair location (10-15 min walk to the metro station). Amazing view to the river. Comfortable bed. Very good price.
Review 108:The hotel needs some maintenance, there was a wallplug loose, the door to my room had to be "jimmied" to open, the hand basin in the bathroom was clogged, the carpet in the corridors were threadbare.
Review 109:The location was great and the staff were extremely helpful. The food I ordered (I checked in late at night) was very good, considering it was just a steak sandwich.
Review 110:It is a new hotel and had a few teething problems, such as the wifi not working in the room but the staff were aware of the problem and the hotel is striving to fix it.
Review 111:The breakfast and dinner buffets were excellent, good selection of foods and drinks. Near the metro station and plenty of on-site parking at a reasonable price. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Review 112:Although we had stayed here several times before and had good stays and treated with traditional Portuguese courtesy and warmth, this time we were treated poorly - asked to pay in advance (which we successfully protested) and made to sign a waiver immediately on arrival that we would not hold the hotel responsible for loss of items but would be responsible for damage - without seeing room - then found the room had small defects (broken curtain hooks, damaged coffee table, etc). We went to the restaurant for the advertised special but were told the menu had been changed but they had forgotten to change the posted ones in the elevators and halls... Our room had a large diagonal concrete beam which completely blocked any view. Generally disappointing and will be removed from our list of favourite Lisbon hotels.
Review 113:large room, good bathroom
Review 114:Long-long waiting for elevator, no stairs option. We got a room on 5th floor, no promised view on the river - instead we got railway and offices. Could not open the windows at all.
Review 115:Some maintenance needed (only 2 of the 3 lifts were working, some light bulbs were not working, bath water temperature was very difficult to control). The cleaning of the rooms could be improved. Furniture in the rooms and lobby needs some updating.
Review 116:A real great location considering the price.
Review 117:Very close to Orient train station and airport, comfortable room, beautifull walks near the river, modern architecture and part of Lisboa worth to discover. And a marvellous breakfast!
Review 118:Our ac wasn't working so they changed our rooms and also given us some discount Wi fi doesn't work properly in all rooms though we had to come out in the lobby to use Internet
Review 119:Excellent staff, very helpful , perfect location sea side is five minutes of walking distance, shopping centre is close by. You can easily catch the public transport to all directions in Lisbon Staff was brilliant especially Marius C who advised us about the attractions and how to get there.
Review 120:Hotel needs some refurbishment, cabinets and beds for instance however was not big deal we could not get with it.
Review 121:I liked the Location, fabulous view to Tejo river, I got some allergies and the staff was very helpful making easy my stay, free wifi and good breakfast and dinners too. Excellent hotel for a short stay.
Review 122:The room backed on to the main rail lines so very loud train noise. The beds were hard and uncomfortable and the room was hot and stuffy. The air con, although very noisy, wasn't effective so very little sleep.
Review 123:The dinner was good. The breakfast was very good with a wide range of continental and cooked. Waiting staff were attentive and friendly.
Review 124:Room was not clean, stuffy, unable to open window to change that. Shower door did not work as it should have, toilet roll holder was coming out of the wall, prior occupant must have had long black hair
Review 125:comfortable bed, free wifi, breakfast fine
Review 126:Its unforgivable for a 4-star hotel has dirty rooms, torn curtains, and damaged furniture, one of the elevators did not work for our whole stay there.
Review 127:The only thing we liked was that the wifi was somewhat stable
Review 128:It didn't have an iron. Breakfast buffet didn't have much to choose from.
Review 129:The hotel's location is great for those interested in visiting all the major attractions. All within walking distance
Review 130:Very hard bed and the room looks and feels old. Got the room that was facing the back, which is the railway. Even with double glaze windows, still could hear the train quite loudly.
Review 131:location is great. Close to oriente station, big shopping mall, restaurants and great view from the front.
Review 132:we went to the bar to have a drink, we waiting a good 15 minet to ge a drink, and wos no wone to serve us a drink, every single table in the bar wos durty, the staff from the restaurante could see us bat no one approach us. we left and we went to a hotel down the road for a drink. we book a double bed and wen we check in wos no rooms with double beds, had to tell the girl in reception that we would leave if they didnt had a double bad, aftar that she manage to get us one.
Review 133:the room wos very nice and comfortable.
Review 134:You stop serving breakfast at 10 am and we thought that was a bit early so we walked down to NAMUR and had a lovely breast for less money!
Review 135:The décor and location are fantastic!
Review 136:No room service menu. They are clearly saving money on illumination, as some (many but not most) lights turned off on hallways, bathroom and bedroom itself.
Review 137:Location, price
Review 138:oh, it is right in front of the main train station!! I couldn't sleep well, the noise was awful... reception staff: rude, useless, and lazy.
Review 139:clean and nice 4 star hotel.
Review 140:The rooms were a bit gloomy.
Review 141:It was right in middle of where we wanted to stay. So travel cost to all the locations were very good. Had nice and friendly staff.
Review 142:The check-in was a bit slow, but I think it was very person dependent.
Review 143:The location of the hotel. The view from the top floor (Make sure to take a room on the waterfront). Very nice decoration. Good value for the level of the hotel and the location. Nice bakeries, coffee shops and restaurants within walking distance. walking distance to Oriente station (Main train station of Lisbon).
Review 144:Friday, Saturday and Sunday 2 of 3 elevators were not working, one of the times had to wait 15 minutes to be able to reach my room on the 4th floor, which was chaotic as it seemed that hotel was almost full capacIty. Room service is poor on answering your call and unless you left a credit card at the reception you can not bill your order on your room, you must pay on the spot when receiving it in your room Hotel was understaff, there was no concierge to help you with luggage My first room had no AC working, the safe was also not working, I asked to change to another room and was told that they would take care of taking my luggage to the new room, when I arrived back to the hotel at 3am the luggage was forgotten in the previous room Although staff was always very educated
Review 145:location and breakfast were the only satisfactory points of this hotel
