Reviews for Mitsui Garden Hotel Sapporo

Review 1:The room was impossibly tiny. Would have been fine if we had carry-on luggage, but we had two suitcases each and it was impossible.

Review 2:Great value for money. Very close to the train station.

Review 3:None

Review 4:The hotel is very near to Sapporo Train station and it is very clean and comfortable. The staff is very polite and accomodating. Will definitely choose this hotel again if I go to Sapporo again.

Review 5:The hotel was very accessible, located very near Sapporo JR, which also meant it was just a stone's throw away from a lot of shopping malls. 5min away was the former Hokkaido Govt building, which was located in a very nice park. The hotel staff were nice enough to hold on to my luggage 24hr before checkin, and had it sent up to my room prior to checkin, so all I had to do was collect the key and head up. It was a nice and enjoyable stay!

Review 6:Triple room is so small that we don't have any space to open luggage. Have to remove one bed to make space. Basically we paid triple room for two beds. Communication to staff is difficult, as staff can barely speak any English, and I don't experience any of Japanese good service unlike the previous few hotels we stayed. They refused my request for compensation, and even showed the picture from booking, and insisted that I should have known the size of room from the picture. How could one possibly find it out from one pic?! Anyway, it was a very unpleasant closing for our Hokkaido trip. Plus, all rooms are smoking rooms, defiantly a No for family with kids.

Review 7:No complimentary bottled water or mineral water.

Review 8:Location is good. Hotel room is clean and comfort bed. Staffs are friendly, very helpful + good service too !

Review 9:SHOULD HAVE MORE ENGLISH LITERATURE.

Review 10:BREAKFAST BUFFET, COFFEE AND TEA IS USUALLY AVAILABLE. FREE SHUTTLE TO THE WHOLESALE MARKET. THE FRONT DESK IS ALWAYS SO HELPFUL WHEN ASKING QUESTIONS.

Review 11:It might be fine if you don't choose the room for 3 beds. It is just push in another bed, and push everything aside. All you can do is sleep, no spot for luggages. Normally family will choose rooms with 3 beds, but definitly it's not for family.

Review 12:NIL

Review 13:Very convenient location. Only 5 minutes walk from JR Sapporo station and 10 minutes to Tanukikoji Shopping Street. The public bath is very nice. Hotel staff are very helpful.

Review 14:You cannot expect large hotel rooms in Japan. If you go in with the expectation of having a large room, you will be disappointed.

Review 15:Booked last minute so expected to find Sapporo hotels to be both expensive and with very little choice. When booking Mitsui then, for the affordable price I booked at I expected very little. Firstly, the location is fabulous. If it's either wet or snowy, the hotel can be reached by Sapporo's underground tunnels (and therefore from any of the major train stations, particularly Sapporo itself). One only needs to surface a single street before the hotel's east side. This also make travelling from the hotel to anywhere very easy when the weather outside is less than desirable. The hotel appears to be recently refurbished. Downstairs there is a coffee and tea room with plenty of seating. On the second floor there are unisex onsens that are open till late. We booked a Superior Double Room (Non-Smoking), which was on 10th floor facing south. The view wasn't special, but thankfully wasn't looking at the back of another building either. Room size was reasonable for Japanese standards. At least 20m2, with room to at least pack a couple of suitcases. For the very affordable price (cheaper than all surrounding hotels), and the fact it was clean, well located with friendly staff, I would highly recommend staying at Mitsui Garden.

Review 16:Breakfast is expensive

Review 17:Location is perfect near to JR station and walking distance to everywhere. Majestic red building just 100m away, and can see from the hotel

Review 18:Close to Sapporo Station. Spacious updated room. Good size bed (about 150cm), comfortable, located in the center of room allowing access from both sides, facing directly at 32" TV. Super clean. Decent room amenities. Friendly staff. Pleasant breakfast environment.

Review 19:We were surprised at how near the hotel was to the JR station. The staff was also helpful, guiding us where and how to go for shopping and eating. The room was spacious and had all the facilities of a 5 star hotel.

Review 20:front desk staff's English is not very good.

Review 21:Hotel sold out non-smoking room, but they correct their mistakes willingly according to my reservation for a non-smoking room.

Review 22:In terms of the price and stars, the room could be bigger.

Review 23:Good English-speaking reception. (one of the best during my stay in Hokkaido) Rooms are well decorated and equipped. Breakfast is ok.

Review 24:Breakfast is not value for money and less variety.

Review 25:Location is 2 blocks away from JR Sapporo Station. Few minute walk to the shopping area and department stores.

Review 26:The lobby and breakfast room are a bit smaller.

Review 27:The friendly attitude of staff and the convenient location of the hotel in addition to the reasonable room rate.

Review 28:It's bad that we had rooms facing the fire staircases of another building. So no view.

Review 29:Location!!!!! The room can be rather small (typical Japanses size), but it's comfy. And the hotel provides common room for guests to hang out for coffee and chats among the group of friend, fair enough. The internet is stable.

Review 30:You can borrow umbrella and phone charger from the front desk in just a minute. The staff can speak good English. The teams are young and energetic. We have a pleasant stay here.

Review 31:No bad experience per say however we were surprised to find out that no breakfast was included, not even a basic continental breakfast. Otherwise good stay.

Review 32:Clean, friendly staff, great location.

Review 33:The breakfast room is too small, and the choices for breakfast are not very broad. Wifi would stop loading so frequently that we stopped trying to use it (our room was in a corner of the hotel).

Review 34:The staff has been awesome with us, calling the other hotels in our trip (we had many questions to ask them, but we don't speak Japanese). They were very helpful. The hotel situation very close to the station is really good.

Review 35:Room too small esp for double bed Go for standard twin instead to have more leg room Breakfast too meagre and not much choices

Review 36:Convenient location and good service - within walking distance to Susukino, Odori Park, Botanic Gardens and historical govt building Nice clean public bath on second floor

Review 37:Small, badly organized, uncomfortable room. Very expensive and slow, slow internet. Overall, just a poor, tired hotel. It might work if it was a budget hotel or converted into a backpackers, but falls far short of what it should be for the price.

Review 38:Good location

Review 39:Triple room we have is small though with 3 good size beds thus leaving hardly any walking space to put lugguages. Daily car parking charge is tied to check out time (11:00am) .Need to pay for one more day charge if car is checked out later!

Review 40:Great location. Proximity to Sapporo JR/train station. Efficient check in/out service.

Review 41:We chose this facility solely because of location and availability when reservation. We just need a place for a night very close to Sapporo JR station so that we can catch the earliest train to New Chitose Airport in the morning.

Review 42:Nothing...

Review 43:Very close to Sapporo sation, very nice new hotel with all modern facilities, just a place to be with good view of mountains from top floors,

Review 44:Hotel has a great vibe, professional staff and fantastic location. You can walk to pretty much all sight seeing spots in Sapporo and its still close enough to the shopping/eating district. Great place :) Room was a great size too, not too small :)

Review 45:The restaurant that provided the free shuttle bus from hotel is misleading on the pricing of dish on their menu.

Review 46:Provided many info for getting around Sapporo.

Review 47:This hotel rated as 4 star but in fact this hotel is rather business hotel.

Review 48:This hotel was well located only < 10 min walking distance from Sapporo JR station, and has clean room with nice public bath room. Free wifi is also another value

Review 49:room was unnecessarily crowded w/3 beds, even though 2 people could comfortably fit in one of the beds (*note: most hotels did this without even asking if we preferred 2 beds)

Review 50:close walking distance to sapporo jr station & great shopping & restaurants, nice ofuro area in addition to room bath

Review 51:I have a problem with my phone that's why late wake up at 10:50am. Since my check out time is 11am and I called to Front Desk to ask for help to extend my check out time only within 30 mins. However their staff reply with very RUDE sound just keep say Charge, charge, charge for JPY2xxx, afterwards call me again to reconfirm my check out time as she said as wrong rate offer. It should be JPY3xxx instead. I stopped our conversation as I am rush to going down. Eventually I went down at 11:25am and requested to speak to the manager since total 4 female staff standing at the Front desk counter but none of them want to solve this problem. This is very impolite manner to the customer who has a problem and even though they don't border to think about or flexible to make a courtesy. Eventually after a lengthy argument they didn't charge us this time. Should have more customer service training and problem solving technique training for staff to handle the case tactfully and flexible. Be a courtesy! Other than that the hotel is great !

Review 52:Their public bath on 2/FL

Review 53:the hotel was very conveniently located a few minutes walk to sapporo station and to many areas of interest. the quality of bedding and public bath were fantastic.

Review 54:I have chosen a smokers room because of availability but I will never do it again. The room was beautiful, but the bedding, pillows, courtains, everything smelled tobacco and the purified of air cannot do the job. Breakfast was 1,500Y per person per serve and the coffee was really bad. It was nothing extraordinary and for that money can have better even in the station.

Review 55:Location was awesome to return late, or to depart very early and see the surroundings. Close to restaurants late, and very close to the station where everything is served until 10pm. If you have a high floor room, it offers great views of the city.

Review 56:I was not able to hook up my laptop to the TV.

Review 57:The blind that shut out ALL the light from outside and the few LED lights in the room - which makes for a good night's sleep. I suffer from back problems and the bed was excellent! Large TV screen.

Review 58:There was no inhouse breakfast service, and the parking is by a multiple-car storage system that needs time to retrieve (can't just park and go)

Review 59:nearby a small shopping/eating arcade (just under the train tracks) Nice decor, good staff

Review 60:The room may be a bit small if you have too many big luggages/suitcases. We have 2 big suitcases and 2 cabin type, and I think it is crowded already.

Review 61:Only 2 blocks away from Sapporo station. Can go underground once across the traffic light besides the hotel, good in winter.

Review 62:toilet was a bit smelly at first but figured itself out after settling down, otherwise nothing major to complain

Review 63:excellent location 5min walk from Sapporo station(and therefore close to major tourist spots), staff helpful, good facilities

Review 64:I paid for 3 bedroom price, there was 3 beds. However, they just put 1 more bed into 2 people room, it was very small, no way to place your luggage, no where to open your luggage. It was so inconvenience to take out your clothes & stuff. It was cheating. I don't know why I paid for 3 persons bedroom.

Review 65:I have a pillow top bed at home so I wasn't a fan of the firm hotel mattress, but the sheets and pillow were comfortable. There was no microwave, but I only felt I needed one once. The heat seemed to not be able to turn down below 15 C, I'm used to running the AC all year round, although I suppose I should've just tried turn the heater off. Those were the ONLY negative things I could think of, the good definitely out weighed the bad for us.

Review 66:The room was better than I expected. VERY clean, no weird smells or mold, not even soap scum. Room looked just like the pictures. The superior double room had enough room for both of us to be comfortable in. The room/hotel was a great value for the price (we booked 4 months in advance), especially compared to nearby hotels (those within a block that were more expensive with similar room styles). Honestly the hotel not being connected to the underground walkway wasn't a big deal at all and I hate the cold but the walkways were too hot and stuffy, and easy to get lost in my opinion. Also the sidewalks are well kept so rolling around luggage wasn't bad at all, especially since it was only about a block. We stayed for the snow festival for 4 nights and the hotel was a great location, only a few blocks away from the main festival site and about a block from the train station, which was very convenient when we took the train to other locations in Sapporo. You do have to pay at check in, but I don't find that a big fuss, we paid in yen (cash) so it was a relief to get rid of that amount of cash and not have to worry about losing it or getting stolen.

Review 67:Could be due to the fact that the hotel is quite new, so there were not many directional signs and the hotel is not reflected/shown on online maps. Rooms are quite small but deemed to be quite standard in Japan (?)

Review 68:The new hotel is within a short walk from JR Sapporo Station which is packed with many shops and restaurants. The public bath is a plus for travellers wanting a convenience "onsen" experience. Friendly English speaking staff. Very convenient location for travellers opting for public transport.

Review 69:The public bath is a little small.

Review 70:The location is really good, only 2 blocks away and within 10 minutes walk from JR Sapporo Station. It's quite near the shopping centre such as JR Tower, ESTA, Daimaru. It's also very convenient. There are 2 convenience stores nearby, it's next to the post office. Although the room is not so big, the facilities are enough in the room and the decoration is modern design.

Review 71:The front desk staff were robotic, they didn't really have much personal touch when dealing with hotel guests.

Review 72:I loved the location, the cleaning staff were friendly and they did an excellent job. Wifi was great, and My room felt like a home away from home.

Review 73:They didnt have room for 4pax....only if i have to write something that i didnt like. Other than this, no complaints at all.

Review 74:I booked a triple room which unfortunately was not allowed to accommodate 2 adults and 2 children (7yo and 9yo) although the room and beds are definitley comfortable enough for us. Fortunately, the hotel was kind enough to let me book another single room at a fair rate and also allowed me to change my booking to 2 nights instead of the original 4, so that i can move to another hotel.

Review 75:1.room is too small , not enough space for Big luggage. 2.check in at 3 P.M. Is rather not fair.

Review 76:Location is O.K, not to far from the Sapporo JR Station.

Review 77:Room a little too small for 3 pax; had to open the luggage on the bed. Does not come with laundry room, but do provide laundry services at a cost.

Review 78:Near to JR Sapporo Station. Had family mart nearby. Nice and friendly staff. Breakfast were good.

Review 79:The room is very small. No space to put our luggage. When open the luggage, it is not possible to walk inside the room.

Review 80:close to sapporo station. convenient store is just next door of the hotel. The room is clean.

Review 81:The facility is new and located at a short distance from JR Sapporo Station. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We enjoy staying at this hotel. It would have been much better if the extra bed was the same type as the twin beds.

Review 82:downtown location couldn't be any better. exceptional cleanliness and friendliness. everyone accustomed to Japanese style public bathing will be able to appreciate the benefits of having such an in-house facility

Review 83:Made me pay balance at check in. Not US style to pay up front, but at least they accepted American VISA. Minor beef, ok in the end.

Review 84:Location, they accepted us credit cards. Clean, new. Cool on allowing free coffee all day.

Review 85:The staff was reluctant to provide a knife to cut fruit because of security concern??? They even refused to provide a plate while the restaurant was closed???

Review 86:Mostly staffs Check-in time is 3 p.m. I went in around noon 1st staff said room wasnt ready so i went out walking around but really need a shower since taking the overnight flight. I went back 2:40 pm hoping the room should be ready, but when presented the passport 2nd staff didnt even bother checking that my luggage already in the room, so had to wait another 10 min.

Review 87:Location and value of money spent

Review 88:Staffs are friendly and can speak fluent English. Nice room though it's small. Location is near to Sapporo station. Allow guest to use funtion hall.

Review 89:A room is not large, though it is a standard size for a Japanese hotel

Review 90:Clean and comfortable hotel located at a convenient distance from Sapporo station.

Review 91:- Bedding not look quite clean (white) - With the high room rate but not included B/F (Toyoko-inn hotel always povides B/F in any room rate.

Review 92:- Location - wi-fi

Review 93:Crowded public bath.

Review 94:Room was spacious and clean with modern decor. Public bath was quite small and very crowded especially the changing area but it is nice to have such option.

Review 95:breakfast is expensive, when not included in room rate. No printer available for costumers

Review 96:Large room (in japanese room size standards), excellent breakfast, hot baths, very close to main train station

Review 97:Hotel provides baggage storage, very convenient for those who are free n easy. Staffs are friendly and upon check in our storage baggage ate all sent to our room.

Review 98:Would be nice if there was room service or at least an on property restaurant besides the breakfast buffet.

Review 99:The location is great - very close to JR Sapporo Station. Many restaurants and shopping within walking distance. The room was larger than expected and very comfortable. Overall, i would stay here again and again.
