Reviews for Sapporo Grand Hotel
Review 1:Rooms are very small, and our bathroom looked like a drop in- plastic box - felt like I was in a capsule hotel. No real access to western food inside or around the hotel. No western TV access either - CNN channel was talked over in Japanese, so couln't even listen to the news.
Review 2:location allows central city sightseeing on foot, and easy access to underground walkways. Had a view over the city which was better than nothing. Conceirge on duty spoke english well, so was very helpful in getting our stay and transfer to airport organised.
Review 3:Having to pay for a five year old child at buffets.
Review 4:The room is quite comfortable, very good choice of dinings, location is great especially in winter, and the concierge is very knowledgable.
Review 5:No faults. Being picky though, western options for breakfast (i.e. coffee quality and range of cereal which is nothing unusual in Japan, but I'm really searching hard for something wrong).
Review 6:Location. Accessable in underground walkway, 5-7 minutes walk from JR train station, close to shopping percent and eating. Airport public bus (cost 1030 yen) leaves from back street entrance regularly. Good bars, staff were very helpful and efficient. Surprisingly nice views for a city hotel.
Review 7:The lifts were quite slow perhaps because one or two were shut down for repairs.
Review 8:Breakfast was good. Location was good enough to get to most places via the tunnel. Size of room was good for 3 pax.
Review 9:None
Review 10:Subway access, close to station, close to city center, many selections of good restaurants surrounding the area. Nice comfortable room, with beautiful view. Concierge very helpfull with all our questions and she goes extra miles.
Review 11:Boring deco for the rooms
Review 12:Centrally located and connected to heart of Sapporo via underground walkway and les than 300m from Sapporo JR station so you can get to new Chitose airport in less than an hour and for about 1100 yen.
Review 13:The staff at the counter not friendly and that really surprise me since I am in Japan at pay a lot for the room per night. I encounter 2 times with 2 diff staff asking for direction and she sound inpatient and and helpful at all. Disappointed with my stay for the kind of price I pay.
Review 14:Nothing
Review 15:Grand Sapporo Hotel is strategically placed within everything if not almost all of the facilities for travelling. Its just within 5 minutes walks to JR Station. It has access to underground walk which is convinient for tourists to escape bad weather and get to places. Staffs were very friendly and went beyond call of duty for my requests. My stay in the hotel was acknowledged and welcomed. Hotel room meet my expectations. Definitely will stay there again.
Review 16:No coin laundry available.
Review 17:Location - near to Sapporo Station (10 mins walk) & there's option to walk underground (as it was winter & snowing heavily). Lots of restaurants & shops around. The breakfast are great! However, slightly long queue in waiting for a table, so get there early!
Review 18:Gym was rather small with very limited equipment. Stiff usage fee of Yen 2000. Also, no personal safe in room.
Review 19:Great breakfast options - including buffet at two venues and traditional Japanese breakfast at third venue. Very convenient location, a few minutes walk from JR Sapporo Station. Room in East Wing was comfortably though minimally furnished.
Review 20:None.
Review 21:The hotel was ideally located next to the underground walkway. Ideal for anyone visiting in the winter when the weather is less than ideal outdoors!
Review 22:Room size , go for twin bed room , you will happy with the space , dont go for double bed , you will sad of the space
Review 23:Love the breakfast , you will have 03 restaurant to choose everyday !! Love the location
Review 24:Great location, can walk out directly to underground walkway to various parts of Sapporo without worrying about the elements. Ms Mariko Shimada was very helpful prior to our arrival, as we were a big group and my daughter has allergies and she helped us take care of everything. We would definitely like to stay again.
Review 25:The gym charges 2000 Ren even for hotel guests! Even worse, it is closed on New Year's Day. Haven't heard of any 5 star hotel that has such a high-maintenance gym!
Review 26:Great location both close to the JR station and shops. The room deco is simple, Japanese and comfortable. The bed is huge.
Review 27:Fantastic location and service. 10 min walk from Sapporo JR STATION. Convenient but quiet to sleep. Staff were very friendly and helpful, especially for some tour guide problem.
Review 28:I booked a twin room in this hotel again in late Sep for staying in Dec, 2 months ahead. This time, the condition was "selection at check-in". Yes, we were given a twin room but the size wasn't my expectation as last time. The room size, cannot hold 2 luggage properly, small window looking out the back side meaning no view at all, small wardrobe about 2 ft wide and 1 tiny drawer only. You may image the trouble in keeping clothing in winter time. Also can only find 2 electric outlets in living room - 1 in an unsupported location that you have to leave your equipment on the ground when do charging. Thank you, will not use this hotel again
Review 29:The location is good, not far away from JR station within 10 minutes on foot thru the underground in particularly during rainy & snowing days. My last stay in early Sep made me coming back to this hotel
Review 30:Location of hotel was excellent. Connected to the subway underpass leading to major stations and shopping areas. Hotel staff were friendly, helpful and speak good English. Our room was very clean and cozy. Breakfast was sumptuous and the family enjoyed the 3 nights stay.
Review 31:The staff not very friendly the first instance we checked in. Five receptist were there at the front desk they were talking to one another, not one give a smile or say welcome. Some waiters at Northern Terrace pretended not to see the empty plates on our table except ONE waitress that was very warm and helpful. They need to work on staff friendliness. Please learn from JR Tower Nikko Sapporo who did it so well like Ritz Carlton.
Review 32:The location and breakfast is good. Value for money.
Review 33:a bit walkfrom JR (may be i m not get used to this location cuz normally i choise to stay at sapporo aspen)
Review 34:hotel 's room + its cleanliness +hotel staff+good deal of price when i stayed
Review 35:The location...easy to get to the JR station and many shopping on the basement shopping area...superb!! The staff also very helpful..and my connecting room was great... Thank you!!
Review 36:Room is generally clean. Housekeeping can be more alert about cleaning beneath the beds. Dirt beneath the beds were not cleared during my stay there.
Review 37:The room was large enough to include an extra bed for child. Distance is good from Sapporo station, has underground walkway all the way to Sapporo station. Most staff can communicate in simple English and are helpful.
Review 38:Excellent location, direct access to underground main fare to Sapporo Station & Susukino without exposure to elements. Airport Shuttle stop outside hotel.
Review 39:There isn't much I do not like for this hotel, except that the hotel itself is rather old and dated.
Review 40:Almost all the staff I met are very attentive and courteous. Check-in/ check-out services are very prompt and good. The morning breakfast buffet spread, although the variety available isn't alot, the quality of the food is considered rather good. Keep up the good work!
Review 41:The the price we paid I was hoping for a bigger room but nonetheless the stay was very comfortable. They seemed quite short handed on cleaning staff when we visited though, the staff only started tidying up our room in the late afternoon, they looked quite harried. They did a good job.
Review 42:It was very accessible to all the shopping areas and Odori Park.
Review 43:Our room was very spacious with four comfortable beds. The room and beds are large for Japan standard. The hotel is very convenient and can be access via underground subway with many shopping and restaurants.
Review 44:The location was very central. It was near to the JR Station and also Odori Park, Sapporo Clock Tower and Sapporo Factory. The staff were very attentive and ensured that my friends and I were well taken care of during our 2 day stay. Great service!
Review 45:bad cleanliness in the shower area, with stained shower certains and unidentified brown stuff on the tiles. the apology can in the form of a few can drinks and a brief letter. Gosh. Such an insult.
Review 46:The light too dark in the room
Review 47:Very good service, so cold outside so we can take the subway direct from the hotel to JR station or to the town, very convenient!!
Review 48:That there were no complimentary bottles of water in the room . We were charged 180yen per bottle of water
Review 49:We love that the property is connected to the underground walkway. We were traveling in a big group with kids and my mum who is on the wheelchair. It made going out so much more convenient esp when it's snowing.
Review 50:Restaurants/bars in hotel very expensive. You can get better for almost a 2min walk down the road for a quarter of the price.
Review 51:So many awesome hidden restaurants close by. Odori park small walk & beautifully lit up at night for the white illumination. Room was fully equipped with coffee machine, bed clothes & bathroom amenities. Room was lovely & spacious.
Review 52:Must walk to bus stop for airport bus journey. Also no express bus to airport. Too many stops along the way. JR stn quite far to walk to for train to airport
Review 53:Big room
Review 54:Short walk from Sapporo Station via underground walkway. Hotel has direct access to the underground walkway from the lower lobby. Also, close to Odori subway. Starbucks in hotel, Lawson's and 7-eleven close by.
Review 55:Nothing grand about the hotel.
Review 56:Quite centralised, can walk to hotel via subway underground walking path, almost the whole distance from Sapporo station. Walking distance to other parts of Sapporo city.
Review 57:The staff did not clean up the room properly, thoroughly. I left used glasses on the table, the glasses were still there after they made the bed. Seriously i am not impress by their standard.
Review 58:Location. Can access any hotspots quite easily.
Review 59:When I was talking to the female staff on the front desk, l saw a male staff flirting her and "play" with her with his body touch. It is very unrespected to the customer, even female co worker. This "guy" helped me to check out on the last day morning. He Made me sick of it , even the hotel.
Review 60:The smell of the toilet bowl. The walk from JR Sapporo station to hotel is quite far like 8-10mins.
Review 61:The staff are very helpful, special thanks to the porter, Wu who extended extra miles with my luggages.
Review 62:nothing....
Review 63:Concierge was very helpful and hotel service overall was excellent. This was our 3rd stay there and we love it. Excellent location convenient to everything. Clean and comfortable. Delicious breakfast with wide variety of Japanese and Western choices.
Review 64:Very convenient to anywhere, especially with underground walkway to train station and 3 subway stateroom...... And easy access shopping, restaurant....
Review 65:location is great, easy to reach everywhere. Staff are very nice and helpful. The room is very clean and cozy. Specially the bath room is bigger than other hotels in Japan. The breakfast buffet is also great.
Review 66:nothing much really....
Review 67:I like how it is accessible to the train station and you will never go hungry as foods are really just a few steps away. The rooms are big enough, clean and comfortable.
Review 68:The rooms are abit worn out and may need some renovation to maintain the hotel class rating
Review 69:The location is good with shopping & good food near by. The staff are excellent & made our stay comfortable
Review 70:Our friend stayed in the main block. Room was dated and furniture old. Looks like a different property from what one would expect when we stepped into the modern lobby. Quite disappointed.
Review 71:Location was great. We stayed in the annex block, the 4 bedder room was nice. Excellent for our family.
Review 72:No bad experiences but our stay would be fully complete if the hotel has an onsen for guests to enjoy., especially after coming in from the cold weather.
Review 73:That the hotel is located near shopping areas, eateries and Parks..all within walking distance. The fact that the airport limousine pick-up point is so near the hotel was a plus point for our group.
Review 74:Perhaps some variety for breakfast items for longer staying guests taking the breakfasts. Nonetheless, the food was very nice.
Review 75:The staff of the hotel were excellent, very polite and extremely attentive to our needs. One of the best teams I have ever come across. Location was a sweet spot for Sapporo city. Comfortable rooms.
Review 76:Supposed to have gym facilities but it only open to guests from 11am. The gym did not have a treadmill.
Review 77:Near to major shopping centers, mostly within walkable distance.
Review 78:Unfortunately, there is no safe box in the room.
Review 79:We were given a choice of 3 different restaurants for breakfast. Love the diversity of options on different days. Staff were attentive, helpful, warm and cheerful. The airport shuttle stops at the hotel.
Review 80:The concierge at the hotel made our experience in Sapporo special withgreat restaurant and destination recommendations. We made a point to saygoodbye and thank her again before we left.
Review 81:Easy access from Sapporo train station via underground walkway. Walkway extends from train station all the way to Susukino subway station, providing weather protected access to major shops and destinations along the way.
Review 82:No onsen, lack of personal service (big hotel...), brk not included (saved by starbucks in the building), small rooms
Review 83:Well located (city centre, walking distance to commercial streets).
Review 84:Check in time at 3 pm is very inconvenient as we had to wait for more than 4 hours after our arrival from Singapore via Tokyo. TV has very few channels in English.
Review 85:Staff attentive and helpful.
Review 86:Our hotel room was clean though one thing that upsets us is when the cleaner forgot to remove our trash from our room and didn't replace our used glasses to clean ones, it happened twice during our 20 nights stay,
Review 87:We like your hotel due to perfect location and friendly staff especially Mr Ishiguro who is at the reception lobby. He speaks very good english and very informative regarding hotel's services.Mr. Ishiguro did an excellent service for us !!! Great hotel service and recommendable to friends and relatives ;)

Review 89:Location n friendliness of the staff. The separate bathroom and toilet.
Review 90:Room rates was expensive. Noticed a few other hotels around the area.
Review 91:Location of hotel is 10min walk from JR Sapporo station. Along Nanboku subway line, in between Sapporo and Odori subway station.
Review 92:The original building was built for a long time ago which made some humid smells in toilet. The staff said they will try but saif sorry that it was helpless.
Review 93:Location, huge and luxurious lobby made good impressive for the hotel. And the staying was comfy for our family to remain wonderful memories on sapporo. Cuz it was our last night after 5days at hokkaido.
Review 94:no sports facility unless you pay for access to a ridiculously small room; industrial fruit salad and fruit juices for breakfast; old aging rooms
Review 95:service at the front desk
Review 96:At the lighting of the room and bathroom, television around the dust badly, it was filthy. Last time, this time because the time before last when using was also accumulated dust I want to comment. At the sink of fawcett and out suddenly after a while when twisting the place of hot water, It was dangerous. Near sixty thousand yen in three nights it was also paid, but was disappointed.
Review 97:I know it will look even nicer with a renovation, but it was really one of the most lovely places we stayed and it has a charm about it.
Review 98:The staff is incredible. Really the best.
Review 99:No option to book double bed, only twin beds.
Review 100:Great location. 6 mins walk underground to JR Sapporo Station. Few minutes to Odori Park and Subway. Few blocks to Susukino - night district. Staff very helpful. Hotel and room clean. Friendly. Convenient. Non smoking. Would recommend checking out a baseball game at Sapporo Dome. Also a lot of great food places near JR Station.
Review 101:As there are plenty group tourists, sometimes you may find chaos during breakfast but this is not the hotel's fault
Review 102:Location, room size, though a lots of tourists still quiet on the guest room floor, clean, bell boy service, can choose breakfast from 3 restaurants and good quality.
Review 103:Great location! only few minutes walk to JR station. Convenience store is just opposite the hotel. It's quite an old hotel but clean and comfortable. Staffs can't speak fluent English but basic communication is ok.
Review 104:The waitress at Japanese buffet restaurant is not very friendly. That's the only disappointed part during our stay
Review 105:Japanese buffet for breakfast is impressive
Review 106:We were three generations arriving in a 9 seater van which was later changed to two cars and the valets were very efficient in guiding at the car park though we don't speak a word of Japanese!
Review 107:open can not be opened for ventilation. I just have to wake up and open the door for ventilation every a few hours. car parked is not accessible because its parked on machine
Review 108:breakfast
Review 109:Great location, roughly half way between Sapporo Station and Odori Park and connected directly to the underground walkway. Staff are super courteous and very helpful. English not a problem. Our twin room was very spacious and the air purifier was a nice touch! Japanese style bathroom with a deep tub to soak. Our room included breakfast and the hotel offers 3 choices...2 buffets or a set Japanese menu...all 3 were very good....Would definitely stay again.
Review 110:Great breakfast buffet, extensive choices from Japanese to Western. The bell girl was very helpful and also spoke very good English. I really like the complimentary kids bathroom set with Barbapapa towels, slippers and toothbrush. Very cute!
Review 111:We liked that the airport bus stops at the doorstep of the hotel - quite convenient . The hotel was 2 min away from Mont-Bell & 8 min to the JR train station.
Review 112:The staff at the lobby were just walking around without helping us. I recalled the date we checked in. We, 6 people, with more than 10 pieces of baggage and no staff helped us at all.
Review 113:No
Review 114:Breakfast,three places can be choice and so many kind of food and drinkespecially fresh seafood and sashimi. Good location, reasonable price, cleanliness and comfortable room.

Review 122:The restaurant at 4F serves Japanese food but the quality needs improvement.
Review 123:Other than the location, I was impressed by the great service provided by the staff. I liked the point that they were very attentive to things and would approach the guests automatically. Transport from the hotel by limousine bus to the airport was efficient. I would recommend anyone who is going to Hokkaido to try this hotel as the access by limousine bus is very direct and convenient. The hotel is also easily accessible to the Sapporo Train Station by the underground tunnel. From the underground tunnel, we were able to go to Susukino by a short walk or train. Lots of shopping at the tunnel. Highly recommend this hotel.
Review 124:limited choice of breakfast. When you book a room online is difficult to identify the grade of a room you booked, this will involve a lot of arguments when you lodging.
Review 125:Free wifi and helpful staffs
