Reviews for Riad Mimouna
Review 1:Very difficult to find any. Breakfasts were always very fresh and super tasty but maybe more variety would be nice as after 4 days they started to get monotonous.
Review 2:The hotel is placed just at the edge of the ocean and surrounded by the historic city of Essaouira. It took us onky few days to fall in love with the city and the people who live here. We had the room with the view on the ocean, which is an unforgivable experience. The waves will hypnotise you to sleep and later gently wake you up on the morning. The food is simply great, definitely try the fish tajine while there. Add to it very friendly staff and you get one of the best experiences you will remember for a very long time.
Review 3:Nothing.
Review 4:Surely the best view in town! The restaurant and roof terrace are breathtaking but even the inside of the hotel is beautifully decorated, quiet and peaceful. Breakfast was nice (only Criossants we had seen in Morocco). Room was clean, tidy and pleasantly decorated.
Review 5:Would have been good to get refreshments more regularly, no kettle in room.
Review 6:The view from the restaurant / top floor, could be one of the best restaurant views in the world? Great location, great to go to sleep to the sound of crashing waves.
Review 7:Only negative - take a universal plug if you'd like to use the bath!!
Review 8:Great location in Essaouira. Not the easiest place to find as not many street names, but nowhere is really easy to find in the maze like medina!! Easy to get to Essaouria from the aiport (150 DM for a taxi ). You get dropped off by the walled city and then need to walk the final part. There are carts available, which on reflection would have been the easiest option, as you'd then be walked to the Riad! The Riad is in a brilliant location - moments away from the medina, but slightly removed from it so very peaceful, other than the sound of the waves. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful, even letting us check in a few hours early and ringing a taxi for us for our return to the airport. Had booked a mini suite with ocean view and got free upgrade to larger suite with ocean view. If you can get a sea view, it really is worth it. If you're not lucky, there's a great view from the roof terrace, where you can relax....lovely being able to be outside, enjoy the sun and be away from the town. Lots of eating places moments away. You can find cheaper places to stay, but staying here made our holiday more special. Got back yesterday and sad not to wake up to the sound of the ocean today!!
Review 9:Breakfast below level. Why no serious black coffee, available at any street corner but not served in the hotel. Standard cold hard boiled eggs. Staff could show more passion for such a beautiful place.
Review 10:The sea view from the room is wonderful.
Review 11:The location was wonderful. The crashing sound of the waves was such a delight. Be sure to book a room with this feature. The staff was the best. Very helpful always.
Review 12:It would be benificial to remove the rubbish in the lane leading up to the Riad.
Review 13:Loved the location of Mimouna. I could have happily stayed in my room the entire trip. I booked this Riad because of the proximity to the Atlantic. I was not disappointed, my room overlooked the ocean on two sides. Staff were always pleasant and welcoming, both receptionists were extremely patient and helpful. Roof terrace sunsets magnificent.
Review 14:Really at the back of town, need to go a distance down back alleys to get there. Wifi weak in my room (this was a corner sea view room, granted). Breakfast mainly combination of different breads with a hard boiled egg.. Fruit would have been nice. A bit of a mission getting too and from car.
Review 15:In the old town, on the sea wall. Courteous staff.
Review 16:WiFi not available in room, staff were indifferent and didn't seem to mind if we were there or not, and couldn't find any staff at 11pm Saturday night which was unnerving. We were initially put into room 103 (king suite) which was very sparse and drab, and asked to be moved to room 110 down the hall which was much much better
Review 17:Great location and view
Review 18:Great location, amazing raid inside and are room was amazing inside too. The staff were so helpfull and booked taxi and transfers for us. The breakfast was lovely on the terrace and it had great view of the bay. Only a short walk to the beach and not far from the town of tagazout. I can't wait to book another trip there next year.
Review 19:Minor overcharge at checkout. Was charged tax on top of rate I had email confirmation showing rate included tax. Front desk changed it and we think honest mistake but check your bill. There was no room service fee and the costs for dinners in the room was less than expected as they catered to requests no quoted on menu. The riad made our vacation. Plus we loved essaouira.
Review 20:We loved the view and sound of crashing waves. We had a superior seaside room number 209. The bedroom was fresh and beautifully decorated. I think it must have been recently renovated. The bathroom looked tired but we enjoyed showering w a little window overlooking the scenery. Just stay here you will be happy. We ordered dinner in the room two nights as we enjoyed the room so much and were so tired from previous travels in morocco. Wifi worked and TV had 2 or 3 English channels with good movie selection. Only place we stayed that had a tv in morocco so we enjoyed it.
Review 21:Chairs in the room could be a little more comfortable and breakfast needs some severe supervision. The ingredients are the same as elsewhere in the town so it is down to management to add the missing quality.
Review 22:The room was on a seaward corner and therefore in a gale it was noisy - otherwise it had wonderful sea views. Hey folks, it is a windy seaport so complaining about it is pointless - just enjoy the wild seas and rocks outside the window. The room was old fashioned but everything worked well, shower, hot water etc all very good. Bed very comfortable; room cleaning excellent, Desk staff and porters all very helpful - especially at the essential links to out of town transport - no cars in the town so all baggage is moved by handcarts to rendezvous with transport
Review 23:Front staff not help full. No map of the city except one photocopy but could not read street name or anything. Too many stairs for older people. Left before the end of our stay and management never show up to talk to us when we ask to talk to them.
Review 24:not much
Review 25:Love this Riad tucked away at the back of the Medina along the Atlantic coast. Quiet location with breathtaking views from rooftop or rooms facing the ocean. Lovely room and bathroom and very nice breakfast. The lobby is gorgeous with mosaic tiles from top to bottom. Spend some time just sitting and enjoying the ambience of this slice of heaven in the medina.
Review 26:There would be a long list of dislikes. The whole hotel needs a refurb, reception staff score the bare minimum, breakfast lacks any imagination, waiting staff always need to be prompted, unwelcoming and gloomy entrance, no attention to detail.
Review 27:The views from the room of the ocean and the sounds of the sea. Also excellent views from the restaurant at breakfast and the great roof terrace.
Review 28:This place is a true gem! Rooms and grounds are clean, tastefully decorated, and spacious. I believe the riad was fully booked during our 3-night stay, but there was more than enough space to avoid overhearing other guests' conversations. Food was delicious: try the Moroccan dinner and garlic, onion, and tomato omlette for breakfast.
Review 29:Stairs lots and lots of stairs but that gave us height to the view we had so I wouldn't say it's a real dislike
Review 30:I love having an ocean view because even when it's too windy to go out you can enjoy the senary from the comfort of your bedroom or the upstares breakfast patio where a little stream of sun comes in.
Review 31:Our stay was too short.
Review 32:We got upgraded to a seaview room. That view is completely unrivaled, could retire and die there. The restaurant and roof terrace was equality as beautiful. The immaculate interior of the hotel gives a real traditional flavour of the Moroccan culture. It's not to be missed! All in all Essaouira really deliverers on all levels. Beautiful beaches, medinas and souks.
Review 33:Location, the room with the view, staff, food, restaurants, just about every thing. There is not anything we did not like. Highly recommend it. It was a treat.
Review 34:Located on a bit of a grubby street but that's not the Riad's fault. Breakfast was ok but a bit samey with ok coffee.
Review 35:Amazing sea view at a really good price. Very friendly and helpful staff. Location close to the main part of the Medina; 3 minutes to shops and 10 minutes to beach.
Review 36:bad wifi -> only works in lobby hammam never worked
Review 37:Good location because it's in the Medina and we also got a upgrade the second time we came which was really great. Staff is friendly.
Review 38:The sea facing room is a little cold in the winter, with gaps int he window. A heater was provided, but we had to lose the curtains to keep heat in.
Review 39:Amazing views! Free Upgrade! Professional, friendly staff like Donya and breakfast waiter who went out of their way to help us and to enjoy our stay!
Review 40:Not a thing.
Review 41:The most beautiful hotel I stayed in in Morocco, and I stayed in 4 and 5 star hotels in 5 other cities. Staff told me it was remodelled from a bread factory in 2005. Gorgeous tile and impeccable authentic Moroccan detail everywhere. It is not just on the water...the surf crashes right there. Other seaside hotels overlook mostly rock, not crashing surf. Spectacular view and experience with sea view suite. Worth it! The staff is great.
Review 42:No complaints
Review 43:One of worlds great hotel views sitting above Atlantic Ocean and listening to crashing waves. Hotel is beautiful and exceptionally clean. Great breakfast included with the world class view. We loved it.
Review 44:We were disappointed with this property. It is dark, tired and in need of redecorating. The staff were not welcoming and no tea/coffee facilities available
Review 45:The ocean view is spectacular.
Review 46:Had a bit of a disaster with the laundry which was contracted out, a cashmere cardigan came back completely shrunk, other white washing came back blue,we requested not to pay the bill and were given a complimentary meal, it was Christmas day so we didn't want to make a big fuss, they were very apologetic.
Review 47:friendly staff and lovely location, spotlessly clean.
Review 48:Getting hot water in the morning is a bit of a problem, rooms and facilities overall are getting a worn out (clearly, a good upkeep is missing), coffee "deficit" at breakfast.
Review 49:Nicely decorated rooms, astounding views, private hammam and overall very romantic ambiance
Review 50:For this price (420 eur per 2 night) the internet should be in all riad not only in the common area. i think it should be more heating in the restaurant and room because winter time is not the warmest one in the evening
Review 51:suite with sea view is beautiful. welcome basket with fruits and local snack wss very nice suprise. i was also totally suprised about breakfast to the room, without any fee for this additional service.
Review 52:Absolutely nothing!
Review 53:I simply loved everything about Riad Mimouna. The room with the sea view in which I stayed was just beyond my wildest dream. The Staff members, whose names I've had the pleasure to know, are extremely kind, incredibly polite and most accommodating. In brief, I just can't wait to return on spring.
Review 54:Nothing with mentioning.
Review 55:Nice Riad with great location and roof top. We had a room with ocean view and enjoyed the sound of the waves and watched the sun rise from our room. Service was good, breakfast was good and good overall value for money.
Review 56:Nothing, but if we have to mention a negative thing, it would be that there is no elevator.
Review 57:Special riad, built in the city wall on the sea front. Large terrace on 4th floor with beautiful view, fine restaurant with the most beautiful view of Essaouira. We have eaten there once, it was fine. We had an upgrade, we got a sea view room (109) instead of a city side room. We would book a next time – although more expensive – again a seafront room. Wi-Fi is free.
Review 58:If you can pay a little more for your room, go for one with a sea view. It is beautiful. You can sleep with the window open, with a mild breeze and the sound of the water hitting the rocks.
Review 59:Only Wifi in the entrance. Open hours at rooftop bar/ lounge could be better.
Review 60:Room with seaviews are fantastic. Big windows that could be open all night, to give you "music for sleeping". Clean and big rooms. Friendly staff 24/7
Review 61:Staff could be more keen to help
Review 62:Sea facing location Traditional style decoration in public areas Spacious bedrooms Roof top and sea view restaurant Comfortable beds
Review 63:We stayed at this riad and can only say positive things about it! Excellent location, extremely clean and superb service! The staff goes out their way to provide comfort and make you feel at home. The owner Mr Ali is just amazing! He gives a "mini-lesson on how to navigate the medina alone. We recommend this riad 100%!
Review 64:The wifi was good but not so strong in the rooms.
Review 65:The location is fantastic, the rooms are very clean and the view on the ocean is wonderful. It has a very friendly crew and service. Also I liked the meals very much. I would recommend the hotel to everyone because it is one of the most beautiful hotels I visited.
Review 66:Superb accommodation that is peaceful and calm in the heart of Essaouira. A beautiful Riad, that is very clean and finished to a high standard with a excellent restaurant for evening meals. Spacious rooms, lovely courtyard and roof terrace with sea view. Excellent service from the staff and owners who are always around to help plan your day.
Review 67:Having to right through the Medina to get there

Review 76:nothing
Review 77:Everything was perfect. Very friendly and helpful staff. Clean, big room with amazing view. Very good internet connection.
Review 78:I liked the location overlooking the sea and that it was not bang in the centre of all the tourist area. The staff were very helpful and friendly.
Review 79:Staff were amazing, very helpful
Review 80:Location, room, view, rooftop, breakfast, etc...
Review 81:Friendly staff, great location, we received a room upgrade with ocean view and I loved the sound of crashing waves.I will definitely come back.

Review 85:Nice view.
Review 86:My room overlooked the surf breaking on rocks. It looked and sounded delightful.
Review 87:I bit old
Review 88:Amazing location! Spend 10euro more and get sea view room, it worth it

Review 112:Location
Review 113:Wifi connection, not good
Review 114:A great place to stay, very relaxing after touring Marocco for three weeks. Request a ocean view room, it's a must!
Review 115:Only net on reception and poor
Review 116:Place, interiors, decoration and - most of all- the "feeling"
Review 117:Room wasnt as in the photos, staff were unfriendly and useless.
Review 118:THe Riad Mimouna was an excellent place to stay. The hotel was very clean, quiet, in spite of being located in the middle of the Medina. The staff were especially friendly and helpful, going out of their way on several occasions to help us. The food was likewise excellent. Highly recommend.
Review 119:So close to everywhere and it is located next to the ocean, so with ocean view and the sound and briease of the ocean, you feel like you can stay there forever.... 4 star...
Review 120:We just adored it here. The view if the ocean was breath taking. The riad is quite spectacular too, and quite big. If you are looking for peace and quite and personal space, you will find it here.
Review 121:Very run down riad, feels old and out dated, not value for money, poor location, had to ask for our room to be cleaned and fresh towels, riad attempted to add on additional taxes upon check out making the total bill significantly higher that quoted by booking.com
Review 122:It is a pity it was a little bit windy during our trip so we couldn't enjoy the great terasse...It has nothing to do with the hotel.
Review 123:The beautiful landscape and the architecture of the place is just amazing. Tourists were coming just to visit the place...
Review 124:So windy that it was impossible to leave the windows open at night - wind whistled through the older windows which did not shut tightly. This may just be a product of the time of year that we were there - first couple days of May.
Review 125:The room was stunning and the view was perfect. You are right on the wall with the waves crashing beneath your window. The room was large with a nice seating area facing the floor to ceiling windows. A beautiful bathroom with shell shaped double sinks and a tub to soak in with an ample supply of hot water. The room and bath were very clean. Breakfast was hearty and very good, although once served, staff was hard to find to get a second cup of coffee, water, etc. WiFi was easy to connect.
