Reviews for Casa Lila & Spa

Review 1:The Casa Lila & Spa has a really good location for exploring Essaouira and the surrounding area, the Managers and staff are very hard working and friendly, we would highly recommend the Casa Lila and Spa to any traveler who wants to experience a Moroccan lifestyle. The Casa Lila offer many things, forget the about staying in the Hotels located some distance away (unless you want hotel prices and hotel services such as meals etc we previously experienced these when we stayed in 2014) we would recommend you stay at the Casa Lila and explore and dine out its will be cheaper and offer better experiences (freedom of choice) and value

Review 2:No complaints

Review 3:Beautiful, relaxing riad in a great location: on one of the main streets through the medina (no getting lost in sinister alleys as with some riads) and 5 minutes from the Supratours stop. Usual mood lighting, but with good reading lights as well. Friendly, helpful staff. There is s dos but I didn't use it

Review 4:The location is perfect, middle of the medina, but quit and very save. The riad looks very lovely, spacious and authentic. The staff is really nice and helpfull, always with a big smile. We can really recommand it! We also booked several things at the spa. Also very nice!

Review 5:Rained on my birthday - not the riads fault!!!

Review 6:Fabulous location. Just inside the medina, a skip from slipper shops and cafés ! Wonderfully imaginative Boho chic decor and ceaselessly attentive staff. Nothing too much trouble - coffee and yet more coffee, a hand drawn map, cab organised....

Review 7:The French owners Michel and Fan Fan were extremely welcoming and helpful throughout this our second visit. They should also be proud of their staff who were, without exception, utterly charming and made our time at Casa Lila a delightful experience.

Review 8:Casa Lila is overpriced and has the worst breakfast on our 7 hotel stay of Morroco. The most expensive hotel we stayed at up to 3 times the price of other hotels in other towns and cities The only place to serve butter and jam in plastic containers, every where else butter served on a plate and fresh jam in tableware. The only place to serve tea bags, everywhere else fresh tea served in a teapot with mint and herbs of your choice. Essaouria, yes, Casa Lila NO

Review 9:The town of Essaouria has beautiful views of the sea

Review 10:Nothing!

Review 11:This Riad is amazing. I have stayed there for 3 nights and I had pleasant stay. The staff are helpful and always happy to answer any questions about the Madina. Rashida and the owner the french lady did the check in for me. Both so helpful. Also Rashied and Mustafa at night time are really good. Thank you for making my stay pleasant.

Review 12:Probably a bit overpriced. Really poor WiFi, and TV and AC need remote from reception - more a pain than problem.

Review 13:Really lovely staff. Very quiet and relaxing place.

Review 14:Everything was perfect.

Review 15:Great breakfast, very helpful staff, helped organise a cookery course at very short notice. Beautiful rooms, a delightful and unforgettable stay.

Review 16:The staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. Our room was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. They also provided a great breakfast on the terrace with wonderful views over the town.

Review 17:All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was perfect and our room was lovely. I would recommend this riad and our room on the top terrace was outstanding.

Review 18:may be a small improvement is to put curtains on the windows so it blocks better the light in the morning

Review 19:We had the lilac suite which was very very comfortable and large. The staff was very friendly, the location was great at the start of the medina. It's easy to park the car just outside the wall and then a short walk. Breakfast in the terrace was lovely and... windy as expected. We had a great stay

Review 20:The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was up on the top level with its own private courtyard for breakfast. Very private and tucked away from other rooms. The Riad is on a busy street in the centre of town. It is in a good location to get around town.

Review 21:Great location and excellent service, help and restaurant recommendations. Love the boutique feel and eclectic style. Everything we needed at our fingertips (or just around the corner to the left, right, left again). Thank you for all the fantastic guidance and recs! :)

Review 22:Breakfast was not good - coffee was not hot and no attention to the detail of the food. Very basic - including cheap packaged yogurt. We booked here because of the spa but it was not particularly impressive nor was it cheap. The bottom floor superior double room was beautiful but rather like staying in a goldfish bowl as anyone can see you - especially when the cleaner insists on opening every window and shutter.

Review 23:The location

Review 24:Poor value for money. We'd paid for a suite at 90 euros and the room was nothing like that, the bathroom had rubber bungs in all the plugholes to prevent "smells rising from the Medina", if you left the plugs out for any length of time the bathroom stank.

Review 25:Location

Review 26:Breakfast could have been better were served luke warm coffee one morning and packaged yoghurt no fruit We had better breakfast in other riads

Review 27:Fresh roses and friendly helpful staff !! The rooms were lovely

Review 28:From the moment of arrival at Casa Lila I knew Essaouira would be wonderful. The staff are lovely. A special mention to Rachid (An asset to this establishment) who, from the moment we arrived, made us feel at home & gave us great advice on where to go , live music, awesome restaurants , places to see etc. The suite was lovely, nice touch with the scattered rose petals. Breakfast was beautiful. As soon as you step out the front door you are in the essence of Morocco.. Wonderful Place

Review 29:Beautifully set up riad, right in the medina, with some lovely touches like rose petals on the beds and towels. Breakfast on the roof patio was lovely.

Review 30:It can be very windy in Essauoira, best to pack some warm wraps.

Review 31:We found the everything was excellent at Riad Casa Lila, especially the staff and in particular Rashida and Rashid on the front desk. Nothing was too much trouble and we valued their advise on places to eat and excursions. We also had a wonderful traditional meal in the Riad. It is an oasis in the busy streets of the medina, beautifully decorated, comfortable with a lovely terrace. The Spa and Hammam were wonderful.

Review 32:None

Review 33:Vasa lila has a certain quality that you do not find that often. Interiordesign, hamam, breakfast, roof terrace - everything a piece of art and a feeling of luxury

Review 34:it gets chilly in the winter so be sure to bring your flannel pajama's.

Review 35:this is the perfect place to stay in a cool medina. we stayed with two children and the family room was comfortable and great for hanging and sleeping. you cannot beat the location. staff was incredibly helpful.

Review 36:Lack of drink choice - would be nice to have more than full bottles of wine or beer Lights a bit dim in our room

Review 37:Staff were wonderful Spa treatments are excellent

Review 38:As we travelled during winter, the room can be a lot warmer with a proper heater installed inside the room. Our room was not properly carpeted so it'll be good to have (more) carpets during the winter months.

Review 39:We like the rooms and the decor of the whole riad so much! It's a hidden gem amidst the hustle and bustle that goes on outside in the medina. It's a real retreat and the excellent service makes us feel really welcome and comfortable. Whatever you see in the photos, is what you will get (or maybe even better!). Try the Hamam massage there if you have the chance. It is so relaxing and it'll really rejuvenate you. A highly recommended stay!

Review 40:No heat. I should have checked before I booked. Room got a bit cold for late November.

Review 41:Very helpful staff. They take good care of you. Location is a 3 minute walk from the bus station. It's a 15-20 walk uphill to get to the Medina but taxis are easy to get and it's just 10 dirhams for a ride of less then 10 minutes. Ordered some great Italian take-out the last night. The staff will call in your order for you.

Review 42:Spent 4 nights in Casa Lila but could have happily stayed forever. Decor is amazing as is everything else: staff, breakfast, coffee, location etc. 1.5hrs massage is highly recommended. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Review 43:The hotel was beautifully decorated, in a traditional style with a modern twist. The staff were very helpful, the location was convenient, and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

Review 44:No light in the room. Don't stay in the ground floor.

Review 45:The room was good and big. Location is good.

Review 46:Welcoming staff beautiful place gris perle room is very good

Review 47:Convenient location in the medina, and close to parking. Oldish but funky rooms, more spacious than the average in this price range.

Review 48:Helpful staff. Cozy room. Nice terrace. Good breakfast. Perfect location.

Review 49:incredible interior decoraton and furnishings, tons of space in the rooms, very relaxing common areas, and well located in the Ess medina.

Review 50:Notting really

Review 51:Great staff, Very helpful owner. Very friendly and smoking and helpful. Very good.

Review 52:Nothing

Review 53:Great hospitality, great room and great value for price

Review 54:Poor wifi

Review 55:Nice staff, decor, location, spa and massage available

Review 56:Lovely riad in the heart of the medina. Great breakkfasts. Helpful staff. Would definitely stay again.

Review 57:Very attentive owner, great breakfast and we had a good but quite expensive massage

Review 58:Very kind and professional staff. Very well located in the centre of the Medina.

Review 59:The location is set back a way from the sea.

Review 60:Wonderfully nautical blue and white decor; friendly staff; generous rooms; great spa.

Review 61:Location was very central but our room was incredibly quiet and comfortable. Great breakfast and welcoming staff and owners.

Review 62:Very nice Riad, very nice owner, very nice staff so thanks to them for making us spending a great holidays

Review 63:The hammam and spa were exceptional, especially the masseuse. I booked a massage and hammam. I would stay there again just for the spa. The roof top where they serve breakfast was very nice. On my departure, the owner graciously drove me to the bus station.

Review 64:spash from the tap in the bathroom

Review 65:team & owners' warm welcome & attention during our stay, breakfast on the terrace, home made tomato jam & marmelade served at breakfast, the typical riad atmosphere and beautiful decoration, the location in the medina but close to the parking.

Review 66:Wonderful, charming riad in an ideal location. The staff were extremely helpful and accomodating and always willing to go out of their way to help us. The rooms were beautifically decorated with a lovely terrace overlooking the town.

Review 67:Great location, in the center of the medina 5 minutes to bus station (to/from Marakech) and 5 minutes to the beach. The whole staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Room was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was exceptional good. Great value.

Review 68:the essouria wind .be prepared coming from scotland thats what we came to get away from .take appropriate clothing even in the heat

Review 69:loved the decor and the feel of the place . great staff always smiling and informative fab breakfast different everyday great location very clean step outside and your into the hustle and bustle central for everything . great value for money loved the personal touches ambient

Review 70:Not a criticism of Casa lila but a general thing about Moroccan bookings is that there is a city tax which is excluded from the room rate so bear in mind when booking that you will pay more.

Review 71:Staff were lovely - great restaurant recommendations.

Review 72:They charged 4.5% extra for using a credit card

Review 73:The ambiance was lovely. The Ham mam was good. A beautiful Riad. Good location for the Souk and the beach

Review 74:a little pearl in the enchanting Essauira.A charming and well informed staff.Exellent rooms.Exorbitant terasse. we really enjoyed our stay in this Riad

Review 75:There was only one person providing spa services and so it was not easy to get an appointment for my husband and myself.

Review 76:The Casa was absolutely beautiful - very elegant and mostly we appreciated the bathtub. We only stayed the one night and didn't get the opportunity to take advantage of the spa facilities while we were there. It was right in the medina yet it was quiet and peaceful.

Review 77:The shower floor had no lip and the drainage was poor, so water leaked onto the floor of the entire bathroom after each shower. Lighting was a little bit dim in the room.

Review 78:Blondine, the housekeeper, was very welcoming, as was the rest of the staff. They even served us breakfast when we had to depart at 0400 the last morning of our stay. They provided a good map and directions to help us get around.

Review 79:We enjoyed our stay, the staff were charming and friendly, the room comfortable. The highlight was breakfast on the terrace: fruit, yogurt, bread, pastries, and excellent coffee in the sunshine.

Review 80:Nothing !

Review 81:An excellent Riad, perfect location, carefully decorated rooms, an extremely friendly and helpful staff, - definetly a high light during our trip through Marokko

Review 82:We had been offered a fire when we checked in but then we were told later we could only have it when we were staying in the room for the remainder of the evening. There was a lovely big bath tub but not sufficient hot water to fill it.

Review 83:Really lovely rooms and very friendly staff. Rashida was particularly nice and helpful to us and got us really properly oriented in Essaouira.

Review 84:Breakfasts could be more varied.

Review 85:The owners and staff were very friendly and looked after us very well. This included a lovely New Year's drinks party, which made us feel very welcome. The manager and all the staff were very pleasant and helpful too. Overall a nice and friendly riad. Recommended!

Review 86:Nothing :)

Review 87:The owners and staff are wonderful, rooms are all different, designed by the owner, very nice breakfast are served on a beautiful terrace outside. We liked our experience there very much!

Review 88:There was nothing we didn't like

Review 89:The helpful & friendly staff; the care taken to keep the Riad quiet at night; the delicious breakfasts on the terrace; the easy location with the Medina.

Review 90:The wifi was slightly weak and did not work in certain areas of my room. The doors to my room were a bit difficult to open and close. There was a family with a small child that was a bit noisy, but is understandble that this is difficult to control. I rated the value for money as good as it was a bit pricey, but I would still pay this amount to stay here.

Review 91:I absolutely loved the staff at Casa Lila. They treated me like a highly cared-for guest and helped me with everything I needed. Being a solo traveller, this was very important to me. Their recommendations of things to do and places to go were perfect for my tastes and made my time in Essaouira very happy and memorable.

Review 92:Bathroom light was pretty dim. We had booked a transfer to Marrakesh through the Hotel and there clearly was a miscommunication on the means of transport. So, in the end the transfer turned out to be more expensive than we had expected.

Review 93:Wonderful Riad with lovely staff. Everybody was friendly and relaxed from the beginning till we left. Good recommendations for dinners. The Suite Lila is just beautiful. The homemade jam was delicious. Definitely a place to wind down.

Review 94:Having to leave!

Review 95:From the moment we arrived we felt instantly relaxed. Everything fromthe bespoke rooms (spacious with large comfy beds, each uniquelydesigned) the welcoming staff sharing great recommendations, to thepeaceful terrace and spa was wonderful. Essaouira was also a fabulousplace to escape to. This was by far our favourite place we stayed in thewhole of Morocco.

Review 96:Breakfast on windy terrace - brrr being charged for tiny amounts of milk- for tea - on final bill

Review 97:The character and age of the building The attention to detail E.G. rosepetals on bed linen and on bath the plumbing - plenty of hot water.

Review 98:Paying by card (credit or debit) attracted a 4.2% surcharge - so pay incash if possible!

Review 99:Staff were excellent and very helpful - gave us very goodrecommendations on exploring Essaouira, where to eat, etc. Room was verycomfortable, clean and spacious. Location was perfect.

Review 100:Would have liked a proper shower and very difficult to shower in the bath without even a shower curtain. The bathroom in the bedroom wasn't ideal. The breakfast was only a continental breakfast but the terrace lovely.

Review 101:The position was excellent and the staff were very attentive and helpful. English was limited but enough to get by. The terrace had a great view and was a great place for breakfast

Review 102:There was a lack of communication between the owners and the staff regarding our requirements this was not the end of the world but could have been avoided.

Review 103:lovely staff, great little hotel. The spa facilites were such a treat and we enjoyed the rose petals left in our room.

Review 104:Could need more instructions on how to find the riad and parking procedure & tarrifs

Review 105:The spa / hammam was very Good! The Bedroom very spacious, nicely done and comfortable. Was great value for money. Staff were very helpfull & gave us lots of good dinner tips!

Review 106:The ambience...highly recommend the hamman opposite....only 18 euros including massage. They would order wine in for you and deliver to terraces or room.

Review 107:nothing

Review 108:great location in the medina. Great hosts who advised on best places for lunch and dinner. Beautiful shabby chic interior, peaceful . great terrace for breakfast. All staff really friendly

Review 109:Casa Lila is amazing! It felt like a real treat. They upgraded us to abigger room at no charge, and the Rose suite was phenomenal! I loved thebright colors and the design of Casa Lila, and how it felt bothold/antique and new/modern at the same time. In the room was themost amazing bath, part of the old Hammam, we were told. The room wasspacious and so very comfortable. Breakfast on the roof was a treat too.The staff was super friendly and helpful, booking us a last minutehammam and massage a few minutes away that was excellent. We stayed at alot of Riads, and this place is really one of our favorites!

Review 110:rooms too dark, no open air-windows,no a/c. We stayed in "suite Saffron", for €103/n totally overpriced.Bathroom a joke, had to climb into shower(w/o curtains). Mattress awful, probably not changed for decades or since opening. Can`t recommend to anybody

Review 111:location in the medina friendly/helpful staff

Review 112:Great location, very close to Bab Marrakech, so a quick 5 minute walkfrom the Supratours Bus Station...very convenient. Extremely helpfulstaff - talk to Aziz, he will set you up for a lovely visit ofEssaouaira. Décor was eclectic and lovely. Breakfast on the rooftopterrace was nice - albeit not on the water, but the Crème Egyptian isworth the trip alone!

Review 113:We stayed in one of the big rooms , instead of a double bed the bed wasfrom two single mattresses , extremely uncomfortable . The room was verydark ( that's not really a big issue ) There was never enough hotwater , so one of us always had to take a cool shower. Breakfastwasn't great. All this wouldn't have mattered if the pricewasn't so high , but for nearly €100 a night in Morocco you expect adisent service. I am sorry to say we will not b returning to Casa Lila. And no we are not one of them couples who expect miracles and complainall the time, we are actually backpackers who are not too fussy. Youjust don't get what you pay for.

Review 114:The location of the place was very good for exploring the town.

Review 115:The shower was not very effective but the water was hot.

Review 116:The reception staff was very helpful providing a map and locations with restaurant recommendations. The breakfast on the terrace was served by a calming and attentive member of staff and varied each morning. Our suite on the second floor was spacious and quiet. Located in the Medina this riad is close to everything. The terrace area was good for sunbathing and there were loungers on another floor too. Plenty of places to sit comfortably within the riad.

Review 117:Extremely kind staff ...greatly appreciated in a difficult day of "couscous" revenge ...being attended on by "Florence Nightingale's" gang ....great terrace , location and breakfast, even if it has to be always on the roof even in freezing cold winds for some reason.....

Review 118:There is nothing not to like about this hotel :-)

Review 119:Lovely hotel with super friendly staff. Every room is decorated in a different way, each is charming in its own way. Could not fault the cleanliness. Great breakfast, would use again if we go back to Essaouira.

Review 120:Wonderful staff, fantastic terrace where we had the really good breakfast. We got a lovely room that was very nice decorated! We liked everything about it!
