Reviews for Hotel Boutique Parador San Miguel Oaxaca
Review 1:The birds in hotel were little noisy sometime.
Review 2:It was my 2nd stay. It's cozy cute hotel, really clean and comfortable bed. Very close to centro and easy access to every where.
Review 3:A bit pricey. One day our room wasn't made at 3 pm.
Review 4:Comfortable room, Mexican style. Nice restaurant. Staff friendly. Located two blocks from Zócalo where everything is happening.
Review 5:I could hear my neighbor blow his nose...but I just think he was THAT loud. It was not the hotels fault. Be prepared to hear the Bells starting @ 0630 - close to downtown equals close to cathedrals.
Review 6:Absolutely beautiful hotel. Within walking distance to several Markets to buy gifts, souvenirs, etc. Breakfast & Dinner @ the hotel restaurant were very inexpensive - for what I normally pay for a Venti Latte @ Starbucks I had an entire meal (srambled eggs, pancakes, bread with butter & sugar, & Coca- Cola)
Review 7:You can hear most of noise outside, which is not that annoying still.
Review 8:Really cute hotel and comfortable bed. Wifi worked really well. Veryclosed to Zocalo.
Review 9:We had suite on first floor, we could hear car noise and also people talking in the patio area late at night. I would ask for a room upstaires or in back, away from the street.
Review 10:We really liked the location..can walk to all museums and restaurants, no need of getting a taxi. Also, they have good contacts with taxi and guides (used both taxi and guide recommended by hotel).
Review 11:They have caged birds all around the hotel. Not only do we think this is cruel. But they uncover them at 7am and the noise they make is so loud it wakes you up! It's very expensive for what it is. It's a bit old and lack lustre. The staff are frosty. There are much nicer places to stay in Oaxaca for the money.
Review 12:The location is really good. Everything is in walking distance.
Review 13:Mattress in room 210 are hard and are ready to be changed.
Review 14:Location, near market, plaza. Great staff, Damaris was specially helpful. Food at hotel was excellent. Beds very comfortable. Loved waking up with the birds.
Review 15:the room doesn't have a window.
Review 16:Location is great. Close to the plaza. The room is nice. Beautiful hotel. The restaurant on the first floor is good, nice food. The staff are very helpful and nice, speaks English.
Review 17:Too much noise from the street it was hard to sleep and I had requested a quiet location. If you are a light sleeper think twice about this hotel.
Review 18:Staff very nice, centrally located nice hotel with classy decoration.
Review 19:It was a little strange at first being in a room without an actual window to the outdoors.
Review 20:Fabulous location, friendly staff, lovely hotel. Beautiful room near reception with lots of gorgeous birds. Terrific patio off the third floor.
Review 21:This hotel is one block away from the Zocalo and extremely centrally located. It is a hidden gem And lovely. From the moment I checked in and was given a bottle of water, a local map, and tours which were offered - I felt appreciated. It is a lovely hotel which has birds, in cages, on their first and second floors, which sing all day. I stayed in room 204, which is located away from the street and very quiet. Everyone that works here was very attentive and kind. This is a great find.
Review 22:Nothing
Review 23:It was a very clean uniquely decorated hotel , with a nice restaurant on the main floor. Jose from the front desk was extremely helpful when our passports got locked in the safe very late at night the evening before we had a early morning flight. He was able to get it unlocked for us.
Review 24:Cold lobby, cold bedroom, lack of rugs, lack of heat, hard mattress.
Review 25:Your staff and the location (in neighborhood with many good restaurants w/in walking distance)
Review 26:Some noise from central courtyard at night (other guests).but this is probably normal with this style of hotel .
Review 27:Great restaurant breakfast and dinner were excellent. Friendly staff and beautiful birds .
Review 28:The early (7:00 am) church bells--30 chimes. The exhorbatant room and VAT taxes. The birds in the lobby cages can be a little much.
Review 29:The staff were unbelievably accommodating, even to the point of retrieving a sweater left in a tour bus. My room was cleaned twice a day and was spotless. Great location to be close to the Zocalo. Breakfast was excellent although a bit expensive for the area.
Review 30:We didn't find the waiters in the restaurant to be very friendly. We only ate breakfast the first day there and for the rest of our stay we went elsewhere. We were also not so happy with the tour we booked through the front desk as there were 3 extra surcharges once we were on the tour that we were not told about in advance. They should inform the hotel guests of this when they book the tour.
Review 31:Loved the ambiance of the hotel, so charming with the birdsand the outdoor seating areas to relax in. The whole place was immaculate with the staff constantly cleaning. Loved the little extras like an ironing board and iron. Would highly recommend the hotel.
Review 32:Free WiFi requires you to type a username and password into your browser EVERY time you connect which is a pain especially for mobile devices. Restaurant staff seemed unfriendly and inattentive which is strange since the hotel staff were incredibly good.
Review 33:Loved the location close to the Zocalo, Staff at the hotel (but not restaurant) were extremely friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and very nicely designed each with a window opening over a common area. The housecleaning staff went over the top to provide exceptionally clean and desirable rooms. Each day towels folded in the shape of animals were waiting on our beds. If you like the sound of birds chirping in the morning you will LOVE this hotel. If it will annoy you, this might not be your first choice.
Review 34:Not applicable.
Review 35:Clean, comfortable and well-located.
Review 36:Close to center, conveniently away from noise.
Review 37:everything was very clean in the rooms
Review 38:The view and acces of daylight was poor on the groundfloor where our room was.
Review 39:The mexican setting of the whole, the birds and the comfortable bed.
Review 40:Everything at the San Miguel was comfortable and pleasant. The staff went out of their way to be helpful. We would definitely stay there again.
Review 41:Location to downtown and sites. Staff. Parking for vehicles made easy with their valet service.
Review 42:The bells' ringing in the morning.
Review 43:The hotel is cose to the zócalo, but still very quiet. The staff is also very helpful.

Review 66:Nada
Review 67:So cute with singing birds in adorable cages in entrance patio
Review 68:Very Helpful staff, large well appointed rooms, located very near zocalo but rooms were quiet. Excellent hotel but expensive.
Review 69:Friendly staff, very clean room, nice hot showers, close to zocalo and Santo Domingo Church.
Review 70:Plumbing a little off - hard to flush toilets sometimes
Review 71:Spacious rooms, good location, excellent restaurant
Review 72:Noise from church bells and passing traffic
Review 73:The location
Review 74:Having to pay for parking.
Review 75:Parking (not free, though), old style charm, huge room and huge bed, birdsong
Review 76:everything
Review 77:Very Nice and helpful staff. Central location
Review 78:Sometimes there were some internet difficulties, but I have to admit that I am myself an absolute zero in the digital world...
Review 79:Sorry, it is difficult to come up with things I did not like. Everyone was so friendly and ready to help and assist. This was not just service, it also was friendship....
Review 80:Trade-off for the great location was a fair bit of street noise. Wi-Fi was less of a problem for me than other reviewers suggested, but was still a bit weak. TV did not work - but then again, you're in Oaxaca, why are you just sitting around watching TV..?
Review 81:The hotel was fantastic - the people were friendly, the setting was beautiful with lots of pet songbirds, and Azalia - who came to check on me every afternoon - was wonderfully inventive with the animal shapes she made out of the towels!
Review 82:No windows to outside. No pool. Birds in cages, very sad.
Review 83:Great location if you want to be close to absolutely everything. Not so good if you want it to be quiet (particularly during Semana Santa). Fantastic staff! Restaurant, and especially the bar, also very good.
Review 84:The traffic outside. It did not bother our sleep but it was an issue with dining.
Review 85:It is close to everything so we could head home and have a rest if necessary. The courtyard is beautiful. The beds are SUPER comfy and we had great sleeps.
Review 86:Even on the noisiest of nights, I had no problem sleeping as there is a wonderful air conditioning unit that drowns out most noise. The location couldn't be better. Close to everything and I walked everywhere. I was alone and always felt safe. This area of town is so pretty and clean. Can't wait to go back and would definitely stay here again.
Review 87:the wifi was weak and we had to constantly sign in
Review 88:The location and staff were excellent. Food was good in the restaurant and the atmosphere was perfect.
Review 89:They do not have a parking lot, so the charge you for taking your car to a near parking lot.
Review 90:Really nice Hotel. We just loved the room. Clean and comfortable, and the location is also excellent.
Review 91:It's a colonial building with thick walls, which makes wifi difficult, and the hotel can be a little noisy early in the evening--the downside of its wonderful location.
Review 92:Really helpful staff, huge room, outstanding location.
Review 93:Sometimes the front desk staff spoke no English and wi-fi was not always reliable.
Review 94:Loved the location, the restaurant, the charm of the courtyard with its birds and the way the maids made the towels into animal shapes.Overall, a wonderful place.
Review 95:The central location was great. This hotel is located centrally downtown just minutes walk from major churches, museums, central square, and markets. The friendly and helpful staff speak English, and the restaurant is very good. Oaxaca City and its surrounding artisan villages are certainly worth visiting.
Review 96:Clarify the exchange rate when you check in. I questioned my bill because 2 different exchange rates were used to convert the quote in USD to MXN for our 3 day stay.
Review 97:Staff was quite helpful and nice. Wifi was spotty on the 3rd floor.
Review 98:Our first-floor room was very noisy. Although it was at the end of the hall, voices echo quite loudly all the way from the courtyard. No windows to the outside, so the room gets a little stuffy. We informed the desk clerk when we checked in that we'd need to shorten our stay, and he said it would be fine. But at check-out, another staff member tried to charge us full rate for the changed nights. We had to insist strongly before he changed the total back.
Review 99:Very centrally located. Maid folded our towels into delightfully cute animals (swans, elephant). Nice chocolates and toiletries.
Review 100:It was noisy at times, particularly early morning (church bells), because of it's central location.
Review 101:Lovely, oasis-like hotel conveniently located a block from the zocalo. Intimate and comfortable with pretty gardens, it has a home away from home feeling. Restaurant and front desk service were excellent.
Review 102:Location--on a busy (loud) street, but, hey. This is Latin America. It's loud everywhere. Our room was dark, but little sunlight = little noise.
Review 103:Location--close to center. Jorge, the evening concierge was great! An oasis. Safe. Very safe.
Review 104:The hotel was too noicy, because they have many birds in the lobby. The room was not quite dark during the night because of the light in the corridor, and glass on the room door. The windows quality is very poor, don't close tight, so everybody can hear you if he passed by.
Review 105:The staff is very helpful, they have a good food at the restaurant. You can enjoy the sun on the roof. And your room is always clean.
Review 106:There was nothing I didn't like. It was somewhat unfortunate that I couldn't connect to WiFi in my room, but no big deal for me.
Review 107:This is a lovely gem of a hotel in the heart of the city, just one block from the central square. It was super clean, comfortable, friendly, and charming. I will definitely go back.
Review 108:Restaurant was a bit pricey.
Review 109:Beautiful courtyard with singing birds. Gracious staff. Very clean and comfortable rooms. Delicious restaurant. Close to city center.
Review 110:Wi-fi was weak in the room but in the sitting area outside the room was satisfactory.
Review 111:Very spacious rooms, with comfortable beds. Interior of the hotel was elegant with beautiful Christmas decorations. All the staff were helpful and always friendly and polite.
Review 112:the breakfast was not good at all and expensive for what they offered, the front desk people were not always ready to help
Review 113:I really liked the acomodations, the room has a good size, is clean, silent, and the shower is great, the location was pretty good
Review 114:Our room, although beautiful, overlooked the patio so anyone sitting there could see in the room.
Review 115:Old world colonial atmosphere, chirping birds, proximity to zocalo
Review 116:A bit noisy as the location is very central.
Review 117:The staff, always there to assist. High service level. Located right next to zocalo. The place is very clean and well dedigned. Breakfast was very nice. Great value to your money.
Review 118:A bit noisy sometimes, but this is due to location in el centro. Caneasily be remedied with a set of earplugs.
Review 119:Everything from our room and bathroom size to service and location. Notto mention the lovely little courtyard and the birds.
Review 120:the location is bad for a good sleep because it's next to the town center. One can hear the noise very into midnight. The facility ok, nothing to bring home. There are much better choices in the town.
Review 121:the cleaness of the hotel
Review 124:Room was a little on the small side
Review 125:Fantastic hotel, clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. It's like an oasis, waking up to the birds each day was lovely. Restaurant was amongst the best food we had in Oaxaca
Review 126:Room service was very slow. Our room was next to the cleaners closet so it was quite noisy at 8am, as were the birds they had in cages in the courtyard (right outside our room).
Review 127:Our suite was beautiful and very luxurious. The staff were very attentive. Very clean, great location.
Review 128:The bed wasn't the most comfortable but the hotel was so lovely that it didn't really matter.
Review 129:The hotel was beautiful, immaculate and very well located.
