Reviews for Hotel del Carmen

Review 1:There was no view, as many of rooms apparently face the indoor courtyard. The inside of the hotel was cramped. During breakfast, the ground floor rooms were right next to the breakfast área, thus subject to the noise of guests who were eating, The end of one of the beds blocked half of the entrance to the bathroom, which I found to be strange,

Review 2:Staff was very helpful. I'm an American who lives in Tuxtla Gutierrez and I went to the hotel to have a quiet night's rest, since I'd recently had elbow surgery, and knew my neighborhood would be party central. At dinner, I'd requested that my meat be cut up, due to my arm being in a sling, and the waiter was very accommodating. The "American" part of the breakfast was scrambled eggs with sausage, which, although very dry, I enjoyed it. Everything else was Mexican food. At the breakfast buffet, staff helped me get my food and get settled at a table, then waited on me to make sure I got everything I needed. In my room, I ran out of toilet paper, so I went to a maid for some. She gave me what she had at the time, which was a partial roll, then a bit later, brought me a new roll. When I cheked out, I asked reception to call me a taxi and they helped me negotiate a slighlty lower fare.

Review 3:Parking is two blocks away, but you can usually get your stuff out of the car in front of the hotel. It was quite noisy in the room in the morning as the room was down stairs where the breakfast is served. Would recommend higher floor.

Review 4:Staff was nice, room was ok, good beds, breakfast was Ok, but don't expect american breakfast as they promote. It is mexican breakfast.

Review 5:It took a long long time to get any hot water in the shower.

Review 6:All the staff I encountered were friendly and helpful. I arrived after an overnight trip on a bus and they graciously allowed me to check in at 9 am. The hotel was clean, quiet and has a lovely colonial ambience. And the bed was heavenly. The breakfast was buffet and offered a full range of local specialties.

Review 7:Bed was rock hard. A/C could not keep room cool (and it was not a very hot day). Neighborhood was a bit "sketchy".

Review 8:It was clean. Staff were very friendly and were proficient in English.

Review 9:No wifi as there was no renovation happening at the hotel, slightly annoying but these things happen. Reception gave us the management code which was good as that meant we could use the wifi. Breakfast advertised as American breakfast but not quite what we had in mind, it had local dishes and was adequate

Review 10:Car parking in a secure location. Reception staff good and efficient. Room was clean and we had a double and a single which was good as our 3 year old son was with us so it meant he had his own bed!

Review 11:Breakfast does lack some more Continental items, and personally I would prefer to be left a little more alone during breakfast. But I guess this is not a fair complain, staff is actually trying to be as helpful as they can.

Review 12:The hotel is clean, staff is nice and trying to help us despite the fact that we do not speak Spanish.

Review 13:The room cost twice what was listed on Expidia. One unopened miscito and one sunscreen taken from room upon cleaning. Free breakfast on the cheap. No coffee refills , no orange juice that included inthe meal.

Review 26:Sincerely. For the price and effort from employees. It was great. Yolanda De Simone.

Review 27:Beds hard.

Review 28:Only a warning. If you think that having reserved at a certain price will guarantee your return at that price, you’re in for a surprise. I don’t think the management has understood the concept of fidelity. Having been happy with my stay, I verbally reserved 1 night for the following week. To my surprise, I was charged close to 40% more. And breakfast was not included. After complaining, I was given breakfast.

Review 29:This is what a hotel should be like. Attention to detail. For example: Light over a mirror in the bathroom. Space to set your toiletries near the washbasin as well as in the shower, light over the writing desk. This hotel has it all. Plus it is 2 blocks away from the Marimba park which, as far as I am concerned, is much better than the Zocalo in this city. Only a warning. It still is one of the best hotel I have been in.

Review 30:Shower didn't have much water pressure.

Review 31:Friendly and clean hotel, easy walk to Plaza Marimba and central Tuxtla. Great Wi-Fi. Restaurant in lobby has good food, too. Fairly priced.

Review 32:Terrible air conditioner in the room...noisy and not properly sealed into the wall. No outside window in room, just onto corridor.

Review 33:Location good, near to marimba square. Staff were friendly.

Review 34:Breakfast too basic. The location and the city in general: orrible!

Review 35:Tha patio-hall is nice, the room basic but ok, with a/c on, no window on a direct street but interior on the patio. Clean and silent. Nice and smiling staff. we had also a quick lunch at the restaurant, good and cheap!

Review 36:Included breakfast was a piece of bread and fake orange juice, reallybad. Rooms are old, tv dident work well and air conditioner was 2 metersup and dident had a remote control.

Review 37:Its close to attractions and budget friendly.

Review 38:Breakfast (that is included in room price) is a complete joke!! Thesmallest and at the same time the worst breakfast I have ever had inMexico!! Rooms were not very clean, a/c unit from 1970's andvery noisy (impossible to sleep with a/c working).
