Reviews for M Boutique Hotel

Review 1:The breakfast was very small and service was very slow. My friends (one of whom is in the hotel industry herself) expedited things by collecting and distributing our cutleries and water.

Review 2:The cool vibe of the restaurant and the interesting inhouse store.

Review 3:No windows in the room (interior room) We didn't make time to explore Ipoh but it didn't feel as the place to be in Ipoh. However close to the bus station to Gerik (Belum Rainforest)

Review 4:Absolutely stunning hotel very tasteful decorated! Free washing / drying facilities if you're willing to do it yourself very welcome! Tasteful music over dinner (christmas day)

Review 5:Amenities provided in the are not complete. I have to call the reception for body shower, hair shampoo and hair conditioner.

Review 6:The hotel provided washing machine, dryer, gym, leisure place... nice. Our room decoration seems to be using the safari theme. The room decoration is vintage!

Review 7:Super noisy. The aircon is very loud. The wall is not soundproof at all. You can easily hear the singing downstairs all night Long. The shower room has an extremely slow water drain.

Review 8:Unique deco

Review 9:The cleaner came in to my room without knocking my door , not very sound proof can hear loud noises at night .

Review 10:The receptionist are very friendly and helpful

Review 11:The air-con in my room is a bit noisy.

Review 12:Free drinks and coffee available as complements; Quiet environment, not much noisy traffic outside; Just few minutes to most of the famous restaurants and scenic spots.

Review 13:A fairly small room considering it is located slightly off town centre. The hotel is part of a row of shop-lots. No fancy view at all. The hotel rooms are poorly cleaned. We have small young children with us and they misplaced their shoes under the bed. We looked under the bed to get the shoes. It is shocking. A thick layer of dust and even packets from previous occupants.

Review 14:Strong shower and comfortable bedding.

Review 15:The housekeeping was a little hit and miss, with our room not made up on one day and the toiletries never replaced. The front desk sent up replacements within a few minutes when we asked, however.

Review 16:Probably the coolest hotel in Ipoh, every element has clearly been thought about and makes the hotel quirky and very cool. The staff were all very friendly, and Wolverine and the barman gave some good recommendations for local food.

Review 17:As above mentioned

Review 18:As above ratings, not for value , small tight pack movement restricted and have to be careful, outside open air parking no security , understaffed , meager morning breakfast not filling, expensive when pay for their western

Review 19:It is a bit far out from the city but with a bit of travelling, you may reach Ipoh Parade within 10 minutes. : )

Review 20:Love the decor which is exactly as the picture depicted. Decor is eclectic which is perfect for us. The bed is comfortable and the room is conducive and romantic. We especially love the amenities provided such as the self service laundry provided by the hotel for the hotel guests, web surfing corner, reading lounges and gym. Who knew that a boutique hotel could provide a GYM? Woohooo!!! The first thing that came to our minds when we entered was this hotel is all about the branding. We simply loooooooovvvvvvveeeeee this hotel. :)

Review 21:Unpleasent and lazy staff of Myth Eatery Cafe..we (me and husband) cant just sit (smoking area) for awahile to enjoy the ambience of the cafe which is stunning (we just sat less than 10mins)..the staff asked me to order or leave (indirectly) and said that cafe is NOT related at all to M Boutique whn i mentioned that im the guest of the hotel :) so indirectly the face expression (with smile) telling me to get out from the sit..during the breakfast session..the counter staff..really bz with her own task..and greet us w/o smile..and keep us wondering what to choose and finally she recommended us to go having our bfast at Old Town..tq to the cafe staff night and day shifts (during my stay) for ur hospitality..i guess mybe its not our luck on that day :)

Review 22:Classy 5 star hotel room materials..cozy and quite surrounding!

Review 23:I can hear visitors walk by quite frequent because of the room is next to common area ie gym, meeting room, laundry room. Small matter though, perhaps will request upper level for my next stay.

Review 24:Everything especially Kacang Puteh

Review 25:very noisy during night time because of opposite pub having singing session. in future if have chance to go back i will avoid to stay in room with window.

Review 26:overall everything is very good for the price we have paid. especially care for elderly people who stay in this hotel.we are much appreciated for management try to arrange connecting room for our family. room309 &room310 & room303

Review 27:Not that I don't like but perhaps a suggestion for improvement because I stayed in a premier room and I thought it was a kind of waste of space at the seating area. You could probably consider sofa bed instead of the ordinary sofa.

Review 28:Enjoyed the room although too big for what I needed but it was a last minute cancellation room that I took on.

Review 29:Save for an Old Town White Coffee shop, we need to drive out for food.

Review 30:It is out of the way, nestled among car workshops and used car dealers, nighttime was quiet.

Review 31:a bit off from main Ipoh town. No choice but to drive out to get your bare necessities if you've forgotten to bring them

Review 32:The welcoming ambience. It's unique.

Review 33:Very uncomfortable with the ensuite bathroom with no bathroom door! such interior is not family friendly at all! very disappointed with the dusty floor (waited 20 minutes for the housekeeping to vacuum the dusty floor though!) very disappointed with the dusty blinds and brown stain in the shower area!

Review 34:The staff at the reception did a very good speedy check in by checking in 1 name for 3 rooms reserved! Kudos to her!

Review 35:night time can't sleep until 2am because of the pub

Review 36:Staffs were helpful and warm. Love the interior design of the hotel. Nice suite bathroom. Comfy bed. Not very far from Ipoh downtown. Would definitely come again.

Review 37:Certain staff need to learn to take suggestion or feedback positively. We walked around outside to locate the entrance which can't be distinguish easily. We ask some guys standing outside to point us the entrance. Doors direction of opening make entrance difficult especially for guest with wheel chair. On the plus side owner and designer put up this place with passion and price reasonably. Good job.

Review 38:Good quality bed. Nice ID. Fair price. Breakfast was good.

Review 39:Whole night music noise from across the road club. Very very limited options in breakfast not even simple bread, egg and butter option available. No private parking

Review 40:Nice neat & beautiful

Review 41:Parking numbers is limited, and not really in secured location. Few KM from major tourist street, but it is pretty close to everything when you have a car. All within 10 minutes drive.

Review 42:Very nice interiors, using high end materials and toiletries. Love their bed and towels, all in high quality.

Review 43:The bathroom is not clean. Stains all over the wall and shower area. Room is too small despite us booking a premier room. Two single beds have to be pushed together otherwise there is no way that you can open the wardrobe.

Review 44:Location is in town area ample parking space at the back of the hotel.

Review 45:The food at the "western" restaurant was over priced and the portions were tiny (compared to walking around the city and eating out) but the food was very good...Just thought that 100+ MYR for the loin of lamb, a shot of whiskey and a slice of Tiramisu was rather steep! (NOT a bad experience but relatively pricey!)

Review 46:Walk in and the reception is absolutely beautiful...The ambiance of the hotel is epic with the "safari" theme and the gorgeous décor its just SO pleasing to look at!!! Upstairs the rooms were just as amazing, I stayed in a single room with a fancy bathroom and with a creative bathroom!!! Spent every night wishing the girlfriend had tagged along! Lovely rooms! The reception staff are nice, the restaurant staff and super!!! They remember your name and what you had on previous days, a nice touch to things and much appreciated.

Review 47:For the price, not worthwhile in fact consider expensive, small cramp rooms, most time have to be wary bump into glass doors&comforter smelly, counter staff check in not friendly

Review 48:1.Requested for twin beds room but upon arrival not available - disappointed. 2. The wooden floor has some nuts popping up 3. Got cut slightly by the wooden structure 4. Waitress in the restaurant not really friendly 5. Rashes happened 6. Room was slightly small

Review 49:1. Staff at the counter was friendly

Review 50:The fact that you asked me to pay a deposit without informing me in advance. Strands of hair under the wash basin (room 109). Noise after 10 from the pub across the road. Strange smell from the area outside the gift shop, where the candles are conveniently laid on the table. Check in at 3pm- really? Staff were kind to allow early check in so thumbs up.

Review 51:The decor.

Review 52:*The old town food under the hotel is not very nice, not worth the money.

Review 53:*The hotel is very near to the city shopping mall and makkan places. *Good service and room facilities

Review 54:Enter guestroom without consent. No extra power point. No room service. No table to work with. Breakfast limited. Wifi limited. With my own broadband, also no line!

Review 55:Nice to see and nothing else fit!

Review 56:We have stayed before and always in a deluxe double at the back of the hotel. This stay we opted for a suite as we had our two young children with us and wanted a larger room. All the suites are front facing and extremely noisy because of the music from the bar. When I say noisy I mean extremely noisy. And our room was on the third floor as we had raised noise as a potential issue on check in. It was impossible to sleep and the music went on until very late (pass midnight). Impossible with young kids. A horrible nights sleep in one of the more expensive rooms. It would have been better for us to take two cheaper double rooms...

Review 57:Beautifully decorated throughout. Lovely bedrooms and bathroom facilities.

Review 58:Breakfast was not great. Considering how much we pay for the room and the brand of the cafe (Old Town), the coffee wasn't good. Nasi Lemak was nice but the eggs and toast were very mediocre - which was surprising because Old Town is supposed to do that well.

Review 59:The hotel concept was cute, and the rooms were nice. I loved the bathrooms. The lobby decor was pretty (maybe even a bit over the top) but it overall had a nice whimsy feel to it.

Review 60:1.Too many decorations in small room. The room too little space. Same as bathroom. 2.Very noisy pub just opposite the hotel, loud music and shout until 2am. 3.Very bad soundproofing, i can even hear cough from next door, kids running at corridor, people talking. 4.Limited staff at Old Town for breakfast, very hot at hotel lobby and both hotel cafe. 5.Staff will go in to your room when you go out, feel uncomfortable and shock when i came back. Understood they was here to provide drinks and snacks, but hope this can be ready before we check in.

Review 61:Nope

Review 62:Not so keen on the F&B on offer. This was our second stay and we didn't bother having breakfast in either of their 2 outlets. Being Ipoh though, doesn't bother us too much since there's lots of great food. But it would be nice if outlets had a higher standard, commensurate with the excellent lodgings.

Review 63:Ticks all the right boxes. We were severely delayed by road closiires and the hotel was accommodating and amended our reservation without fuss. Staff are responsive and problems are efficiently addressed. Has all the necessary conveniences we needed.

Review 64:Nice designed boutique hotel, very good service . Staff are friendly . I love the whole hotel boutique design very modern concept, clean and very comfortable bed especially the shower gel is very nice smell , I bought oneto bring Hm. Food is nice . Thumb up .

Review 65:We had booked one of the larger rooms which unfortunately is extremely noisy. The music from the bar is deafening. We had two young children who were kept awake and we were unable to sleep. I rang to complain to reception but to no avail. We were told we could move rooms but none of the quieter back rooms were available and in any case they would be too small to accommodate us all. What is the point of having your superior suites in the noisiest part of the hotel?!

Review 66:Have stayed here before and love the eclectic boutique style and decor.

Review 67:The breakfast choice could have been better.

Review 68:True to the acronym 'Boutique'. Authentic and clever detailing makes this hotel a pleasant delight to stay in. Commendations to the designer.

Review 69:No bad experiences. But if compare to the services in Indonesia hotels, Cambodia the staff are more service oriented as compared to Malaysian service level.

Review 70:Love the deco. The details put into the room. Overall very comfortable.

Review 71:The hotel is great but since it's located next to a club, it was really noisy at night. Can cause stress when you want to sleep especially if you have young children

Review 72:Love everything about the hotel - the decor, amenities and cleanliness

Review 73:NOISY, NOISY, NOISY We had rooms opposite a bar and did not sleep until 2am. We were lucky and we could move to other rooms, but even there you could feel the boom boom of the bass. The breakfast is bad and the service lousy. Asian breakfast in "Old Coffee House" was much better and the service friendly. I day the beds were not made.

Review 74:We liked: the decor of the Hotel. the washing machine

Review 75:I go out to have my dinner and when I come back my room have 2 bottle of water and snacks. I have some valuable thing inside the room.

Review 76:Environment is so great and you will fall sleep quickly

Review 77:The breakfast - although served Western breakfast, but the coffee is a local coffee and not Illy's coffee, moreover its not hot! - totally a let down! The room was not sound proof as the loud music from the front club could penetrate. They played the loud music even after 1.30am until we make a complaint to the hotel to ask them to lower down their music! Wifi is slow, Air con is noisy!

Review 78:The interior is unique!

Review 79:The air conditioning in my room was noisy. It gives out a constant humming sound and noisy wind sound. That affected my sleep for 2 nights. I complain to reception but nothing was done. I think they should have change me to another room.

Review 80:Beautiful interior design. Friendly staff. Would like to single out Ms Esther Choo who is attached to the Asian cafe. She is attentive and helpful. Shining example of a dedicated staff.

Review 81:The breakfast - although served Western breakfast, but the coffee is a local coffee and not Illy's coffee - totally a let down for a coffee lover like me.

Review 82:The deco and the ambiance of the hotel. Love it being a boutique hotel and not a super big commercialized hotel that is impersonal.

Review 83:The location as no mall, no restaurants, no hawkers nearby. The room was not sound proof as The noice from the front club could penetrate.

Review 84:We love the decoration, seems like we were in overseas

Review 85:the meal is overprice for the portion and taste the tagline 'come as stranger, leave as friends' doesnt jive with the real situation though

Review 86:the interior

Review 87:less of signboard.. limited choices of food.. the cabin is too small to three of us..

Review 88:the decoration is very nice.. their facilities are very good.. the smell of shampoo n shower very nice.. I like!

Review 89:All good

Review 90:Beautifully appointed boutique hotel. Great atmosphere, friendly, helpful staff. Excellent value. Spotlessly clean room with lots of extras. Walkable distance into town centre with good coffee shops. Excellent breakfast choice of Eastern or western.

Review 91:Nothing

Review 92:Staff were most helpful especially when we had a medical emergency. Decoration is excellent throughout the hotel and although the rooms are not large they function very well.

Review 93:Pillow was too low and gave me neck ache every morning Need to get a taxi to move around. Not safe to go for a stroll especially in the evening as advised by hotel staff Wifi is not strong

Review 94:Very lovely place with excellent decor and nice Old Town food. Free laundry, gym and even a Mac available

Review 95:Very friendly staff. He can called out my name when I told him just the last name upon check in, this make me feel privileged. I love the decorations inside out from the hotel and my room. The bed is comfy and the aircon is strong and works well. This hotel is well maintain for only 2 years old. I will definitely come back!

Review 96:Great hotel. Small but great designer rooms. Breakfast OK. Go for the local food, Western Breakfast is really basic. Location is a bit outside of main area but walking distance 20-30min. Great value for money!

Review 97:Stayed at room 125, and Digi coverage was poor. Connent to hotel's wifi. Strong signal, but there's no internet.

Review 98:My 2nd time here. Always love to come and will again in the future. Friendly staff. Nice and comfy room. Working air condition. Clean bathroom. With all the amenities. Value for money.

Review 99:Very noisy, premier room facing nightspot. Room small and setup not elderly friendly. Outdoor carpark safety if comeback late night. Expensive for what it provide.

Review 100:24 hr Gym

Review 101:When we arrived at 9:30 for breakfast they informed that western breakfast was over because there was no more fruit!

Review 102:Decoration is amazing. Rooms are small but very comfortable.

Review 103:Toilet flushing system is a big problem.

Review 104:Recommend to book the superior room c/w window, facing the hotel car park, for the light sleeper. A 10 mins drive to the old town from hotel, nice food are centrally located there. Convenience to travel to Ipoh town in your own car. Stay min. 2 nights if you are doing sight seeing and more. No traffic problem in this quite and friendly town.

Review 105:The continental breakfast lady is not friendly and always black face. No greeting or smiling to the guest. The coffee that serve is extremely lousy. File a complain with front desk girl. Her name is Snow White :) Need immediate improve on the service in the breakfast room. The credit is we still find an older waiter which is friendly. The toilet at the lobby is very smelly.

Review 106:Fancy hotel and the front desk are very helpful. The bed is comfortable but I wonder if the hotel change the bed sheet when new guest arrive, because I realize that the sheet is wrinkle when I checked in the room.

Review 107:Location very bad,no convenience stall nor other restaurant nearby, everywhere has to be by taxi if you don't have a car.

Review 108:Friendliness of staff, greet with a smile and attend to whatever questions asked and helped to booked a taxi to those places I wish to visit.

Review 109:The Wi-Fi was not very strong and even the computer's Internet in the common area was slow. If you are looking for a place to do some work, it would be a let down.

Review 110:The room was very clean looking and the staffs were friendly upon check-in. The gym facilities was adequate although we didn't find the time to use it. Te common area at 1st floor was well furnished with a washing machine and dryer that you can use for free.

Review 111:This hotel has a retro decor, and the effect is quite stunning. However, I felt that it appeals more to younger travelers who want a more luxury experience.

Review 112:The hotel was clean and new. The staff were friendly and accommodating.

Review 113:Had a fun to stay this hotel, different from normal one. Although we stayed at the room without window, it wan't uncomfortable for one night stay. Good point was they had common area with laundry. Free car park behind of hotel.

Review 114:We one family stayed in 2 rooms. One is ok but another one the bathroom water flow is not good. There is a bar just opposite the hotel which will make quite loud noise at the midnight.

Review 115:The design is unique and I love how they decorate the overall interior. Nice staffs with good servings of two restaurant just located next to it.

Review 116:It is not in the centre but I knew that when I booked and is not a big problem.

Review 117:Beautiful hotel, decoration is fantastic. Great gym, social area and washer/dryer. High quality, I really enjoyed my stay.

Review 118:I found the room is a bit dusty, especially at lamp cover and bed head frame, also got some stain at deco pillowcase. Need vacuum and cleaning more offen.

Review 119:We like the tasteful deco and the detail.great work!! but a bit small room size.

Review 120:The room air conditioning not that good. Feel warm even tho we left the air conditioning function while we went for dinner.

Review 121:Everything was good. Awesome. Like the gym and meeting room. So nice and comfort.

Review 122:WiFi didn't work and the walls are very thin so I was kept awake by he kareoke across the road.

Review 123:Room was a great size and decorated really well. Very clean and good servive.

Review 124:1. The bathroom tiles were slippery as I nearly slipped. 2. Water near the basin didn't dry up/didn't have a proper drainage system. 3. Wifi connection was extremely weak from my room and my Maxis line was bad.

Review 125:1. We stayed in 3 types of rooms: Standard Double had the best layout compared to Premier Double and Premier Triple. 2. Toiletries and hairdryer were plus points. 3. Cleanliness was excellent (being an OCD freak). 4. Overall design is just awesome and inspiring.

Review 126:Breakfast was disappointing on our first stay so we opted for the no breakfast price option this time.

Review 127:We love this kooky little hotel, always very welcoming, clean, and a good location all at the right price. Room design is great, nice layout, decor and clean. The free water and snacks in the evening are a nice extra touch.

Review 128:Room badly needs a light in the 'bed area'. The only lights available were the ones in the bathroom. *Gasp!* If you don't drive, be prepared to take a taxi everywhere. The hotel is located in a industrial like area with car sales/repair shops all around. No convenience shop nearby even.

Review 129:Room was wonderfully decorated. Breakfast is provided for at Old Town White Coffee and that is yum. Staff are helpful and provide a smile each time.

Review 130:Very poor breakfast - small serving size, only two choices of breakfast (third not available because "no fruits available". For a three-star hotel, the high price the hotel is asking for must justify better breakfast quality and diversity. Wifi strength and speed is strangely poor (cannot finish a youtube music video without more than one hundred start-stops). Again, pls improve if you are going to charge customers more than $85 a night. Staff are tolerant of guests, affording basic levels of courtesy - no more no less. Stayed at Ibis Styles (three star too) second night - cheaper and superior in every aspect. Never going to stay at M Boutique ever again. Not impressed with the interior design (makes the room looks smaller and more cramped).

Review 131:Strong hot shower.

Review 132:The shower cubicle water drainage is bad. Air cond system is kind of loud when it is on full blast. Location is nearby the town (pusat bandaraya) but still need to drive or cycle instead of walking. There is nothing much surrounding the hotel (walking distance) because the area is still pretty new.

Review 133:The overall design and interior. Even though the room is small but it is very comfortable and cozy. Very nice mattress and pillow.

Review 134:Slow WIFI Limited option for breakfast at Myth Cafe

Review 135:Interior design excellent Toilet and room very nice deco n clean I love Excelsior Floor (3rd Floor), will repeat stay to try other floor. Can't stop taking picture :D

Review 136:A sliding door between the toilet and room is much needed.

Review 137:Went to Ipoh on a train for short getaway, good location for those who didn't drive. The Old Town next to the hotel is the bomb (great menu and exceptional quiet place to unwind and catch up on some reading)

Review 138:I didnt get 1st floor. That time the staff told me 1st floor closed for maintenance.

Review 139:hippies style and environmental friendly. One of my fav place to stay very exquisite.

Review 140:Slow wifi in the hotel.

Review 141:I love the design and concept of the hotel room, we stayed in "The Adventurer" floor and therefore there are lots of wildlife photos hanging on the walls. The room was clean, bright and new.

Review 142:The Wifi signal has been mentioned before and i would like to stress that it would be an even better stay experience if the connectivity was better.

Review 143:loved the decor, the rooms, the feel, the comfort, EVERYTHING!

Review 144:That there wasn't a swimming pool or some activities room for kids. Oh ... and the blaring music from the bar across the road, til the late hours, was definitely not pleasing to the ear.

Review 145:Great rooms. Overall pleasing decor - discovered something new at every juncture. Their staff, cutely named after famous characters, were a genuinely helpful and cheerful lot.
