Reviews for Kurobe Kanko Hotel

Review 1:Asked about playing table tennis and booking private Onsen. Couldn't do either and staff seemed happy to just say no and move us on rather than help.

Review 2:Maybe due to language barrier, the hotel staffs did not give us suggestion about local attraction so we have to google ourselves. Dinner buffet was sumptuous yet the restaurant did offer exactly similar menu on 2 consecutive days. It would be better if they could do alternative menu.

Review 3:The hotel has a very nicely designed Japanese style room, very clean indeed. Our room has a good view to the little forest nearby and the Tateyama mountain range. Dinner buffet was sumptuous as well. Onsen facility is perfect.

Review 4:The 8% tax added on top of the bookings quote which seems to have happened to others too. It's still excellent value though, just keep it in mind.

Review 5:Our favourite hotel in japan. Huge Japanese style room, lots of English instructions making things easy, great buffet dinner and breakfast with kids well catered for with some western options. The onsen was fantastic. Huge and very clean. Good location on bus route to the start of alpine route. We just missed a bus so got a cab for 2500 from station. Easy to organise to get on bus next day, even a bus ticket seller at stop. Wish I'd stayed two nights as onsen so great and quiet local village. Nothing to do there but would be relaxing and very beautiful, especially with autumn leaves.

Review 6:This was the only place during our trip where we weren't satisfied with the tidiness of our room - there were stains on the table and tatami, stains that could have been easily removed if the cleaning had been done properly. The dining experience in this hotel is not that intimate - dinners and breakfasts are served buffet-style in a huge banquet hall.

Review 7:The location is ok, the hotel can be reached easily with public transport (bus stop is located just 200 m from the hotel), dinner and breakfast are served buffet-style, the food is tasty, local and there's quite a lot of variety. The onsen is great, there are also outdoor pools and a proper sauna.

Review 8:Staff can speak good English. Very efficient. Our luggage which was sent from Toyama were in our rooms before we arrived. Buffet dinner have lots of choices of food, eventhough the hotel seems full house on our visit, we don't feel a bit crowded as they have a big place to accommodate everybody. Same for breakfast. Rooms are big. Onsen is nice. Conveniently located near Omachi onsen bus stop. Quiet location.

Review 9:Too large and missed a coziness feeling. Would prefer to stay at a family run ryokan

Review 10:Perfect for a departure for the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine route. Good ryokan and onsen experience. The great selection of food at the dinner and morning buffe, however, the quality was less good.

Review 11:No wifi inside room, only provided in the lobby area with poor signal!

Review 12:Excellent location, just a few minutes walk from the bus stop to the hotel. Room is clean and spacious. Food are excellent, a variety choices of food with good quality provided for dinner in buffet type. Breakfast is fine too. The indoor and outdoor hot spring pools are nice. It cost about 18350 yens for a room, really values for money. Very recommended.

Review 13:Nothing, except that it was too short a stay.

Review 14:Everything - friendly staff, excellent location, beautiful environment, excellent food (both dinner and breakfast), excellent onsen.

Review 15:A better direction to reach the hotel as we can use the bus going around Ogisawa and Shinanomachi station - just stop at Omachi onsenkyo bus stop

Review 16:The room is spacious, with en suite bath & toilet and a very good view from the window. They also give detailed instructions for onsen experience. Very good place for relaxing

Review 17:Notice that the booking rate from Booking.com had inclusive of service fee and GST 8%, however the Kurobe Kanko Hotel still charge me the service fee and GST 8% on top of the booking amount. I would like to know how this happened. Appreciate Booking.com can kindly revert.

Review 18:Notice that Booking rate had already inclusive Service fee and GST, however the Kurobe Kanko Hotel still charge us the Service fee and GST again on top of the booking amount. I would like to know how this happened?

Review 19:none.

Review 20:The dinner is excellent and lot of varieties and fresh food. Also, the hot bath setting and environment especially the outside pool is very good.

Review 21:WiFi only available at the lobby area but not in rooms.

Review 22:Location--very near the bus stop for travelling between the Alpine-route at Ogizawa and Shinano Omachi Station. Hot spring bath available.

Review 23:Everything was pretty good except wifi was only available in the lobby.

Review 24:Their buffet dinner is a must try. Lots of variety and of good quality. The hotel is quite remote so it's better to book dinner as well.

Review 25:None. Would be good if wifi is available in the rooms instead of just the lobby.

Review 26:Location , hot spring baths and very good spread of breakfast and dinner.

Review 27:Wifi only at lobby.

Review 28:I like the onsen facility best. They are clever to let us try 2 different types of Onsen in 1 night stay. one Stone and one wood type. The buffets for dinner and breakfast average spread. Overall is value for money.

Review 29:We loved our stay here, regretted that we only stayed one night and next morning have to leave early for alpine route. We enjoyed the food, the room and onsen very much. Love it!

Review 30:Wifi in lobby and downstairs lounge only

Review 31:Onsen was great Good mix of food (Japanese not western) for the evening buffet Very handy location for alpine route and bus stop to get to/from Shinano Omachi and Ogizawa Staff helped a lot with luggage forwarding (new concept to us!) Large comfy rooms in good condition

Review 32:Difficulty communicating with staff via email. They gave us mis-information about ways to get to the hotel which resulted in us having to pay about $50 taxi to get to the property. We booked this hotel for end of our Alpine route. Rather than tell us to get off the bus in Omachi, were were told go to the Omachi-Shinano train station and then take a bus. But by the time we arrived to the train station, the last bus already left.

Review 33:Nice and spacious room. Great services. We booked full board and truly enjoyed the food. The buffet had many choices, even enough choices for a vegetarian person. The Onsen (hot bath) was the best we have ever seen. It was possible to have your luggage delivered to this hotel from Toyoma.

Review 34:No wifi in rooms. Only in the public area.

Review 35:Three-star pricing for four-star quality. Convenient location within two minutes walk from Onsenkyo bus stop at the Omachi end of the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route. Big tatami rooms which can sleep up to five persons. Fantastic onsen with indoor and outdoor hot pool, sauna and outdoor cold tub. Great buffet dinner and breakfast with a wide and generous selection of food.

Review 36:1) Hotel rate is attractive as it included accommodation, free hotspring, buffet dinner and buffet breakfast. 2) One of the front staff (Mr 大串) who can speak good English was most helpful. We could only check in at 7:30pm and he rushed us to have dinner first before all check-in formalities, fearing we would not be able to eat anything and alerted restaurant staff to allow us finish dinner later (normal dinner time closed early). He also provided us with good travel information.

Review 37:A modern ryokan.... More like a hotel with a nice spa and good buffet...

Review 38:Easy to travel from Ogisawa to hotel and convenience to go to JR station by bus... If you buy a JR Alpine route ticket. The ticket cover the cost of this bus till JR station....

Review 39:Room and hotel itself was somewhat dated, yet very clean - especially the rooms. The bright chairs in the Lobby were full of stains. Pitty, since the area would be nice to sit for a drink and a chat. WiFi-Situation.

Review 72:Perfect place to stay before going to the alpine route. Just a few minutes walk from the bus station (omachi onsenkyo). Very friendly and helpful staff, although their english is not so fluent. Wonderful meal, both dinner and breakfast. Do include them in your room plan because the hotel is situated in an isolated area out of town. Wide variety of food, unlimited amount for every guest, quality is good especially fresh fruit. Spacious and comfortable room. Huge and nice onset.
