Reviews for Sacred Dreams Lodge

Review 1:I didn't like that our stay was so short! Should have extended it one more night!!

Review 2:It was beautiful! Tucked away in the mountains yet not far from the town Urubamba. The food was great, prices are all in U.S. Dollars (it was nice to have everything billed at the end!) and the staff was so helpful. We wanted to do a day tour around to a few places and they called us a taxi and it was great! We had our personal tour guide for the day.

Review 3:The room was a bit cold at night, even with the heater. We should have brought warmer clothes to sleep in. The hot water bottles that the hotel staff brings you every night are amazing, and really help warm up your bed.

Review 4:The scenery is Beautiful at Sacred Dreams Lodge. The food was also very good, but I wouldn't plan on eating a ton of meals there, or it would get very expensive. Gian Carlo the Hotel manager was GREAT! He told us where we could go hiking near the hotel, and he even took us on a hike one day. The first night at the hotel Gian came and asked us to come out and look at the stars from an open field on the hotel property! It was so beautiful and peaceful, and it had been so long since I had seen the stars so brightly shining. The property is very well taken care of, and I would definitely stay here again. The rooms were clean and there was plenty of hot water for taking showers. Gian, the hotel manager told us many things about the area we didn't know, and about Peru. He took us to buy our tickets for the train to Machu Picchu, and brought us lunch one day from the city. I know our experience would have still been good at Sacred Dreams, but Gian made sure it was GREAT! All of the staff at Sacred Dreams were very nice.

Review 5:The staff was nowhere to be found. They were not there when we checked in. They did not answer the front desk phone when we called. The location is hard to find and far from restaurants and shopping. The breakfast is small. The on-site restaurant is just okay.

Review 6:The property beautiful. The rooms are comfortable. The staff is friendly, when you can find them. It's a good jumping off point for daily excursions.

Review 7:Needed greater variety in restaurant of food choices. If you stayed for more than two days there would not be sufficient variety.

Review 8:Quality of accommodation and beautiful surroundings. Friendly staff

Review 9:Restaurant way over-priced, remote location, problems with electricity, very poor breakfast buffet for money, breakfast buffet not refilled after 9am, no heating and alarm clock in room (as specified in description)

Review 10:Location, nature, lodges, silence, eco-style buildings, flowers, beautiful and stylish rooms

Review 11:The lodge is about 3 miles from town, which adds to its appeal, but many of the taxi drivers in town didn't know where it was. I would suggest printing out directions to take with you when you arrive.

Review 12:The beauty of the lodge area, the variety of birds, the food in the restaurant, the staff (Mark and Lisa), the deck from our room and the view. I would definitely stay there again. We were there 4 nights, and it was a highlight of the trip to Peru.

Review 13:It was over priced. We 3 were the only people there. The staff acted like we were an inconvenience. We asked for firewood to be brought to our suite. After 3 requests, we got it the second afternoon. The family managing the place were not very responsive or helpful. The food was very nice, but the staff forgot our orders and did not attempt to encourage ordering anything else. If the owner had not arrived, we would not have gotten proper directions to the trail for the trout farm. One sprinkler was running the whole time we were there (2 days), directed right onto the only walkway we had to get anywhere on the property.

Review 14:The setting was beautiful with lovely landscaping, flowers and a lodge look which is why we chose it. The highlight of this place was getting to meet the owner's mother, Linda, who gave me a private tour of the town.

Review 15:Might have been our favorite part of Peru. Great space. Wonderful staff. Arranged day-trips and cab rides all over the Sacred Valley. Mark is knowledgeable and helpful for all things SV. Highly recommend.

Review 16:The restaurant has US prices and it is over priced and I would avoid except for the free breakfast. Only problem is nearest eatery is taxi ride away--you should plan meals in advance.

Review 17:This was one of the nicest places we stayed in the sacred valley--wish we had planned on two nights. The fireplace was great and they made the fire for you! Staff were friendly and all around wonderful! I would go back.

Review 18:The first impression as we came to the Lodge was the beautiful surrounding area with trees and flowers and a well which purls through the garden. Especially because we were in the mountains before and saw only grass and stones for days. As we got into our Lodge it was very beautiful and individually styled. We had the Lodge with the fireplace which can be seen from the living room as well as from bedroom. The whole Lodge was very cosy and had a nice view into the beautiful garden and to the surrounding mountains. Also the restaurant is good and Barbecues can be done at the fireplace in the garden. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Especially the hotel manager Marck Rojas rescued our holiday as we had some troubles with a Peruvian travel agency. Many thanks again for your help! To put it in a nutshell we had a very good time in the Lodge and hope to be able to come back soon.

Review 19:Calm and fresh. In thé Middle of nature with à chimney in thé room

Review 20:Setting is pretty. Laid back feel.

Review 21:Beautiful surroundings and lodge, super comfortable and cosy rooms and a very warm welcome from the friendly staff.

Review 22:the general manager Giancarlo was excellent

Review 23:Difficult to reach, far from Urubamba Center

Review 24:Wonderful Location, very beautiful houses.

Review 25:Everything is as good as it sounds.

Review 26:Convenient for a one night stay.

Review 27:great idea however not completely implemented and poorly (not the fault of the local staff) managed: should include transportation to/from town or transportation hubs (too remote to walk to anywhere); all doors and windows need insulation installed -- a missing or incomplete step in the construction of the place -- we froze even with the small room heater supplied

Review 28:visually beautiful setting and thanks for the one ride to town from the local managers

Review 29:There were some Mosquitos, not too bad but at dusk where some spray

Review 30:The staff could not do enough for us- they were extremely friendly and accommodating and assisted us with transportation to, from and during our stay. The lodge is absolutely breathtaking! The landscape, the rooms, the surroundings, everything is just beautiful. It is so quiet up in the mountains and the sky is covered in starts, more than we have ever seen in the northeast USA. The rooms can get a bit cold at night so we kept the fire going and the heater in the bathro and we were good to go. We were also fortunate to have the one room with the jacuzzi which was fantastic after climbing Machu Picchu! The good was also excellent. We only stayed one evening on the way back to Cusco and really wished we had more time. We hope to come back some time and really enjoy the lodge longer! Thank you Marc and Lisa!!

Review 31:The manager there was dishonest in charging us for our dinner at the hotel restuarant (when we checked out). He claimed the menu was in USD and not in Peruvian soles which made the meal about 3x as much as we originally thought it would be. Be clear on the prices before ordering. We were a bit surprised this man who seemed so nice would pull something like that at such a high quality establishment. We were all sure the menu was written up in Peruvian soles but did not want to raise such a fuss. We paid and left with a bitter taste about this place.

Review 32:Wow- a very nice place... a bit of a paradise compared to the nearby town... this place is located at the end of a very long, dark and rough road- not at all walkable to get into town (you will need a taxi). Quite secluded and very beautiful grounds. The rooms were beautifully done- all in first class. Very comfortable and clean. I would definitely stay here again.

Review 33:Everything was perfect. It literally felt like a dream cabin in themountains... Pure paradise. Not a single complaint. Everything wasextremely clean and the service was spectacular beyond words. I'mtelling all my family and friends that this is a must hotel!! It'salso close to all the adventure activities and only 1 1/2 away frommachupichu. They were extremely helpful in anything we asked.

Review 34:We asked the administrator to organise a car from Cusco and had the most overpriced and worst journey of our lives. Ancient rattling taxi belching fumes up into the car. Arrived in power cut feeling sick. Administrator did not come to help out, staying in the nearby town which had power. We were the only guests. Dangerous pathways when unlit. Cold dark dining room and one hour wait for a bowl of (tasty) soup, listening to the constant beeping of an alarm. Learned later that there is a generator but he did not come and turn it on. A good place to stay as long as there are no unexpected problems for the staff to handle. We were given some wine as compensation and were not charged for the soup on day one.

Review 35:The setting is lovely and the accommodation very good. The girls working there were very helpful but had little English. We arrived in a power cut and they tried to help as best they could. Once the power was restored next day our stay went well.

Review 36:Unfortunately the road was up when I was there, so taxis could only take you so far, it was then a trek through the forest to get to the lodge - it restricted my freedom to come and go as I had planned. I was told this was a short term issue

Review 37:This was like a small Oasis, beautiful, well worth going for a retreat or to relax, worth the hassel of getting there.

Review 38:A little bit out of the way, you have to take taxis to get places.

Review 39:Beautiful place to stay. Marko and his family were very lovely and helpful.

Review 40:I loved the guest room. It was beautifully designed and the beds were extremely comfortable. I loved the flowers and the grounds.
