Reviews for Golden Palace
Review 1:I've stayed 4 or 5 times at this hotel, and every time there's some slight issue with the staff. This time I had a room only rate and was assured I can order whatever I want from the restaurant during breakfast. I went to the restaurant, was seated and started to wait till somebody serves me. In 10 minutes I approached a member of staff reminding that I'm waiting. I was assured that somebody will come to me, but nobody did. In 15 minutes I simply ran out of time and had to leave because I had a meeting soon. So no luck, no breakfast.
Review 2:It's an ok hotel, quite comfortable and well located. I would never give it 5 stars, but probably 4 stars are deserved.
Review 3:take notice the acces to the spa is not always included in your rate as this is operated by another company
Review 4:staff was very helpful, very stylish design, great location
Review 5:Expensive and poor breakfast, No full meals for room service 24hrs (only 4 hours a day) NOT 5 STARS SERVICE Parking full and leave cars outside in the street, Not enough power plugs
Review 6:Wifi.... Mostly over capacity, poor reception. Shower gels, shampoo etc unkown and for a 5 star hotel very generic. Fruit left in room was rotten. Lack of attention to detail.
Review 7:Location in center. Space in the room. On site parking.
Review 8:Aircon does zero. Very strangely shaped hotel - multiple corridors and lifts to go anywhere.
Review 9:Located right in the centre of Turin, just a few minutes from the Egyptology museum and amazing restaurants. Comfortable rooms with windows that open (a rarity in modern hotels).
Review 10:A little long walking distance from the entrance to the guest rooms when you selected your room in the Palace2 tower.
Review 11:Very good location near the city central for shopping or sight seeing, also very safe area even coming back from restaurant in the night.
Review 12:Well located, within walking distance from some of the most interesting places in Turin. We have received a complimentary upgrade and the room was beautiful and extremely comfortable. Besides the hotel's underground parking, there are a lot of public parking places available all around the hotel.
Review 13:For the price of two nights it wasn't worth the money. Wifi was terrible, shower Leaked into the bathroom every time and the sheets were not soft
Review 14:The location was great with friendly staff
Review 15:Wi fi in the room was weak on 4th floor
Review 16:Location and valet parking excellent Staff friendly and courteous In house restaurant was a real quality experience
Review 17:When I tried to check in at 14:00 there was a big wedding photo shoot happening in the reception and they wouldn't let me through for several minutes, you can't tell someone they're not allowed to go into their hotel. Breakfast expensive so didn't have it.
Review 18:Amazing hotel room, good value for money, and loved the spa. Hotel also had a michelin starred restaurant.
Review 19:Some members of staff didnt want to help! Room service was a little slow.
Review 20:The room itself was amazing aswell as the rest of the hotel! Breakfast was delicious! Felt very welcome!
Review 21:Bedroom small for a 5 star hotel Bedroom appliances (like TV) not teally at the level of a 5 star hotel. Even if a basic room
Review 22:Good location Bar with live music Aperitivo buffet in the afternoon
Review 23:had a great discount on this centrally positioned hotel, with good parking facilities Superb quality hotel, helpful staff There is most definitely a difference in quality and service when you are in a 5* hotel like this....
Review 24:The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was beautiful!!! The bed was comfortable, and there was plenty of storage space. The bathroom had great water pressure. The location was within walking distance to where we wanted to visit.
Review 25:The separate shower flooded the bathroom without fail, the Spa was not included in the tariff except that it was on the Sunday we used it and breakfast was pricey considering the cost of a coffee and croissant on the street. Oddest of all the air conditioning was turned off because it was May. I was not told this when I complained the first time, only a day later.
Review 26:Room was nice if small for a deluxe double, Reception friendly enough. Good scrambled egg at breakfast.
Review 27:As I have mentioned, the fact the swimming pool did not open until 10:00 a.m. was absurd. So as that it was impossible to prebook parking space and we had to go quite far to a public parking to leave the car.
Review 28:Overall it was pleasant.
Review 29:I stayed in Tower 2 and had to take the elevator up to the 1st floor, cross over to the other building, then take another elevator to my floor -- hassle. Wifi was strong but it was set up such that you may need to enter the username and password each time you connect -- hassle. Not a lot of interesting shops or restaurants close to the hotel. A lot of people seem to like this hotel for their spa facilities -- if you're not going to use them, maybe this is not the hotel for you.
Review 30:Close to the train station makes it easy to get out of the city.
Review 31:Breakfast price expensive. The outside front could look better. The entrance revolving doors and access is a bit confusing. Stairs & ramp awkward 7 not clearly access. Not a real problem. A good look would improve entering A local guide booklet in the rooms would be welcome..
Review 32:Lovely room & bathroom area. Nice deep bath. Staff very good. Good location, 10 minute fast walk to real centre. I like the big 'concrete'ladies in front. They should be more focusing.
Review 33:Couldn't use spa with 10 year old step daughter and had only booked this hotel so we could use the spa together. the plug sockets were far from the bed so couldn't charge and use phone or tablet at the same time. view was right up to another building.
Review 34:lovely spa children's breakfast was free
Review 35:the staff was under training and could have been more helpfull. still, was not too bad at all
Review 36:love the bedroom, so nice and modern. although you need a degree to work out how the lights work...
Review 37:Push guests to park their cars in their costly garage even when cheaper street parking is available.
Review 38:Knowledgeable staff who could answer all the questions we ask or make efforts to find out for us.
Review 39:First of all the SPA facilities are not included in the price and are very expensive. There is no information about this when booking which in my opinion is misleading since the first image of the hotel is the spa and pool. Second, the staff were very arrogant and unfriendly when asking about the spa. Third, the air-conditioning was not working in the room which was incredibly hot. Only at check out did they tell me they already knew about this, thanks for nothing. Fourth, the TV was not working either! I only found out about it the morning i was checking out so could not do anything about it but was very disappointed nonetheless. Fifth, I booked a king size bed and got two singles crammed together instead. All couples know the irritation of this. Also the breakfast was un-necessarily expensive, lots of good bars around the hotel offer excellent food for honest prices.
Review 40:The location was the good thing. Bathroom in the deluxe room was also nice.
Review 41:Cost of spa, swimming pool and treatments prevented us from using them.
Review 42:Pretty much everything, location, elegance, cleanliness and the staff were first class.
Review 43:Overall the staff lacked a really professional attitude. In a 5 star hotel I except a less "leisurely", more attentive and polite service. 1 hour after check on our way out we were asked a room change without any given reason by the crowd of female staff at the reception. At dinner we were seated only after a while and had to wait quite long until s.o. attended to our table. The service was not to the hotel's presumed standards. Around midnight there was no one at the bar until we went to call someone. That person did not even great us properly, but told us right away we would have to wait as he had a lot of orders to follow up! I asked for a Barrique Grappa - there was a selection of exactly ONE. Even my local bar in a small village in the Marche has a wider selection! The hotel in general is very dark, not to our likings at least.
Review 44:The hotel is right in the center, from here you can reach the beautiful parts of the city very easily by foot. Dinner was excellent. Breakfast was very good as well.
Review 45:- view on wall from the room's window !!!?? Ugly ! - no balcony - cleanliness of indoor swimming pool - heat inside second block - expensive breakfast (not included)
Review 46:- near historical centre and ''shopping streets'' - very safe - very clean room and bathroom - friendly staff - good restaurant - private parking - turkish bath
Review 47:Spa is forebiden for Children below 16, when they advertize for pool and no indication about Children âge : then Young children and parents are a bit frustrated + close at 7.30 when said 8.30?
Review 48:the wellness centre is a bit down. The swimming pool is coldish, the sauna temperature was wrong, there is too much music and too loud, the teas offered are terrible and in the wrong place. The sunbeds would need to be changed and are no way up to the hotel level. Breakfast is 25 euros per person, so we did not try- although we were curious about it.
Review 49:Good facilities, comfortable room (we had a standard room) with nice bathroom, confortable bath robe. big windows in the room, although facing a wall- room very quiet. Excellent staff, well prepared and very kind. Great location, a few minutes walk away both from Torino P.N train station and from the main square and the Egyptian Museum. Restaurant is fairly priced, main courses between 15 (pasta) and 25 euros (meat/fish), the dishes are very interesting but lacking a side dish- my meat was good, but it was really just a piece of meat with a delicious sauce and two tiny slices of carrots. Although, they offered us some interesting small appetizers as well. Altogether, it's a reasonable choice, but it could still be done better especially from the point of view of an international traveller.
Review 50:Pillows - only two and rather uncomfortable, no electric power sockets to charge mobile phones available conveniently in the room, spa less attractive compare to pictures
Review 51:Location, room overall, staff service, hotel design and impression
Review 52:Wifi was not fast at all. If one wanted to be picky the hall is certainly kitch. But these are minor details.
Review 53:Spacious room, very friendly fast and multilingual staff. Access to gym and spa is realluly a plus and all in all for the prce paid this is in my opinion a real bargain.
Review 54:That one grumpy concierge. I've stayed twice at the hotel and never asked the guy for anything, yet he grunts each time he sees me.
Review 55:The hotel is very well run and the staff are friendly and efficient.
Review 56:Tower 2 is quite a distance from the reception and odd connected. You do have to change elevators and walk a bit between the 2 elevators.
Review 57:General remark a good hotel nice friendly staff close to down town Torino
Review 58:Nothing
Review 59:Excellent hotel in Turin. Elegant and sophisticated with an excellent restaurant sampling local cuisine and hosted by a classy maitre d' with views of golden statues surrounded by fountains. Extremely quiet and comfortable. Large luxurious rooms.
Review 60:The city tax is extortionate, apparently based on the five star rating.
Review 61:Comfort of room, location, quality of service and quality of furnishings and fittings. We were upgraded to a deluxe room but unfortunately it was above the piano bar and was rather too noisy for us since we were in our room early. However it did not stop us sleeping.
Review 62:A very central location to city centre and Metro rail. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Room was spacious and comfortable. Wifi worked in the room.
Review 63:The bedroom was way too small, window looked into an internal atrium with very little light, interior design too dark.
Review 64:Hotel is well positioned in the heart of the city near all major attractions and shopping areas. Beautiful reception, bar and downstairs lounges.
Review 65:1. The receptionist was incompetent!!! He was not able to complete correctly an invoice for us!!! Also he lied that he will process it and he will send it to our room. His colleague, at 5 a.m. next day complete the invoice for us after 2 invoices wrongly made!!! 2. The continental breakfast was very expensive!
Review 66:The room was very clean and quiet and the housekeeping was great.
Review 67:The deal was offered to the hotel restaurant in reception was very poor count. In order to gets to the rooms we had to get a lift to the first floor and then go to another elevator 50 meters further. the approach to the rooms was complicated, almost needed a map, there is no consideration of the fact that we rented three rooms and were with our children. the necessity of replace elevators was not mentioned on the hotel site or in bookings site, otherwise we would not make reservations at this hotel in any way. extra charge required for visiting pool and spa.
Review 68:location to main streets
Review 69:None, everything was perfect
Review 70:This is my second stay in this hotel. The location, rooms, breakfast all were perfect. Staff, all were helpful. Especially the guy in the reception was very helpful during the stay However, the most important thing I forgot my phone in the taxi that took us from the hotel to airport. When I phoned to him, he talked with the taxi driver and he brought back my phone. I especially thank both the guy in the reception and also the taxi driver. If I come to Turin again, I'll stay in this hotel again and I recommend everyone.
Review 71:Unfortunately we had a bad experience at the Golden Palace. 1. The shower did not drain correctly so I was standing in 6" of dirty water when I tried to take a shower. We ended up using the showers in the fitness center. ( Both rooms, they moved us to a room 2 doors down. ) 2. The AC was turned off and while it was nice to open the window the amateur/drunk opera singer at 12:15am in the courtyard bar was not a pleasant way to go to sleep. The other couple we were traveling with had the same problem with the AC being off. 3. The room safe did not work in our first room. 4. The automatic curtains did not work in our first room. 5. The TV movie stations never worked in either room. I understand that issues can happen at any hotel. What makes a hotel 5 star is how they handle them. My problem with the Golden Palace is that they did not successfully address our problems and the manager repeatedly lied to our faces on how they were handling them. Here are a few examples. 1. Saw the manager write down my cell # correctly then said he could not call because he wrote down wrong number. He also could have left a voicemail on our room phone. To say he tried to contact us when he obviously made no attempt is insulting. 2. Manager told me that he though the problem was fixed when the desk staff knew it was not. If I were the manager and had an upset customer I would check myself before meeting the customer in the lobby and telling them everything was fixed. 3. The front desk saying they would call back in 5 minutes but never calling. For all this headache the hotel generously (sarcasm) covered our breakfast one day. This could/should be a great hotel but it is not deserving of five star status.
Review 72:Modern and attractive.
Review 73:cost of dinner in a city with so many great choices - cheaper! Front desk staff not overly welcoming.
Review 74:room great and comfy... the pre-dinner drinks - bar staff were the friendliest. while the building is not externally attractive, it's lovely inside!
Review 75:Wi-fi wasn't working for a few hours, several requests to the reception were forgotten and had to call two or three times to remind.
Review 76:Great room design, nice breakfast, good bar. Quite inexpensive for a rather high quality central hotel.
Review 77:The only a little bit strange thing was the specific rule in old town of Torino according to which between 7.30 and 10.30 AM it's forbidden to enter the real center of the city with car. But that has nothing to do with the hotel itself.
Review 78:Everything was very good. Very nice reception, nice and friendly people at the reception desk ready to help, great comfort in the room. Nice and big underground parking
Review 79:Wow, just wow. This hotel is the best I've been at so far, hands off. Starting from the hall, marble was everywhere, candles, comfy couchs, plants, it was amazing. Everything sparkled. Their baggage-smasher was so polite I just feel the need to say something about him, he greeted us even when his shift was finished, outside the hotel. Big up for him. The staff was friendly and helpful, we arrived there even before it was possible to check-in but the guy at the reception found us a room nonetheless. Thanks for that! The hallways and elevator were so fancy, our room was perfect. The bathroom was big and had a shower and a bath tub, which I enjoyed after eighteen hours spent under the rain. The room had everything you'd need and expect from a five stars hotel: it was clean, big, fancy, comfortable, had a minibar, everything we needed for a good bath. I liked the thing about the book exchanging: you pick one of the books you find in the room and leave one at the reception. Great idea! Thanks for the city map, it was helpful. I could say a milliong things about Golden Palace, but they'd be cheesy, haha. Thanks for having us, great experience!
Review 80:Not flexibile for the breakfast. Wifi connection slow and not alwayswell functioning; no kettle and a socket not working in the room. Wouldhave preferred a shower with no extra charge. Would have ratherpreferred being in the main building: quicker & easier when you haveto go in and out.
Review 81:The location. The style of the hotel.
Review 82:the only bad thing was the garbage trunks at 6am everyday which you could hear even with the windows closed
Review 83:Great hotel and location
Review 84:Poor toaster at breakfast
Review 85:Helpful staff, fast check in, well equipped rooms and well maintained communal areas.
Review 86:location, comfortable big rooms, clean. If I come again I would definetly stay there.
Review 87:To snobby
Review 88:Disappointing that spa facilitiy was not part of the rate. This was not made clear on booking.
Review 89:Probably should have free water and a kettle in rooms
Review 90:Hospitality was good
Review 91:Walking distance from everything, helpful staff
Review 92:Rather soulless
Review 93:Modern business type hotel. Good location for historical quarter.
Review 94:A kettle was missing.
Review 95:Staff are really helpful and ready to help. Room facilities are really good.

Review 119:This is a great hotel in a wonderful location.
Review 120:good location good quality décor & furnishings efficient check in parking done by valet
Review 121:The spa wasn't worth €25 The pool water smelled damp/mouldy
Review 122:Food/restaurant and staff
Review 123:Rooms need to be renewed as well as the spa for which 20 Euro each to swim in a pool where most of hydro jets do not work is a nonsense.
Review 124:Position
Review 125:- Silence - Staff - Central location
Review 126:Very thing
The Fine Print
