Reviews for Hotel Cozumel & Resort

Review 1:pervading feel of "all you can eat" buffet excess; dated decor; continuous drone of tannoy music at the pool; ongoing building work around pool; threat of $150USD fine for losing a key; no kettle/coffee making facilities in room

Review 2:friendly staff; large pool; good coffee; spacious feel

Review 3:I only stayed there one night with my family with 3 small kids. The hotel is nice and the food was ok. The breakfast buffet was good. The only thing i didnt like is that the kids were not welcome in the hottuband were asked to leave by the staff. This gave me a bad impression of the hotel and i would not go there again with small kids.

Review 4:We were on our honeymoon and we got very disapointed of the experiance... We got two beds instand of one even that we ordered for king size. The hotel is not on the beach. The hotel charged my credit card that i gave for safty only. They charged way more then the "booking" rates and didnt want to refund. The bed is uncomfurtable, the the staff is real enoying- if you order somthing from the pool bar they will take you out of the pool just for signing. The pool is very nice when you first see it but its realy dirty and full of dead bugs

Review 5:The pool but only at first sjght

Review 6:The excursion/trip service located at the hotel is bad, they lie about the conditions of the trips, It is a scam.

Review 7:The hotel is well located, nice atmosphere, quiet at night time, good place to stay!

Review 8:the food was just barely edible. There were bugs in one room we couldnt get rid of. The pool wasnt kept clean enough. Concierge and other staff not available from about noon to 4pm daily.

Review 9:The large fresh water pool is excellent, but not kept quite clean enough. The staff is extremely friendly and willing to help however they can. The "beach" water entry area was much improved with ladders and tiled steps vs the dock and rocks that was there 20 years ago.

Review 10:The facilities are basic at best; the finish on our tub was peeling off on one edge, furniture in the room was rather dated and rickety. Internet access while free was so slow that my children had difficulty accessing information they needed to complete homework assignments. Food was plentiful, if uninspired (glad we didn't do all inclusive).

Review 11:Our primary reason for selecting Hotel Cozumel was its location on the edge of town. We were away from traffic and partiers, but close enough to be able to walk into town for restaurants, shopping and ferry access. Very friendly staff, clean rooms. My teen children enjoyed the scheduled volleyball in the pool, and it was great having a good dive shop right on property.

Review 12:The beds were incredibly hard, even for someone who doesn't mind a firm bed.

Review 13:We have stayed here several times. We like the location, it is an easy walk to town but far enough away to not have all the traffic. The staff is very friendly. We like the fact it is not a large chain hotel and does not force us to be "all-inclusive"

Review 14:Only the fact that there were no rails to help me get into, out off the lovely swimming pool. A central rail where the steps lead into the water would assist disabled, elderly and infirm people to get into the pool and enjoy the benefits. As a result, I couldn't use the pool, so will not be returning to an otherwise excellent resort. Thank you.

Review 15:Liked everything. Beachside restaurant was superb. Good food and stunning view of the sea. Staff very friendly and extremely helpful as I'm disabled. Thank you.

Review 16:You were required to wear an uncomfortable plastic band (like in some sort of medical or correctional facility) Breakfast was included but poor and staff not attentive. The staff seemed out to catch anyone trying to get something for free and the pool area laden with large people helping themselves from the bar. We spent as much time away from the resort as possible. The other issue was that it is a good 25min walk on rather poor pavements from where most of the good restaurants are. We rented a scooter. If you want to stay in a cheap resort then this is for you. If you want to see Cozumel, find somewhere else.

Review 17:Free wi-fi and reasonable on site facilities

Review 18:You have to walk half an hour to be in the center where are shops and restaurants. In our room, the bath tub wasn't in a good condition and there were some little little animals. Generally, it was really clean, only this i have to criticze.

Review 19:The hotel is really nice and i think it's a really good choice for this price, also beacause a very good breakfast is included. The prices in the hotel, for exemple for cocktails, are really good, too.

Review 20:the food is mostly mediocre and the beds are not comfortable. BUT they will give you a pad if you ask.

Review 21:I liked the all inclusive option, the location, and the scuba servicies

Review 22:The beds are horrible. The food leaves a lot to be desired and the hotel itself could use an overhaul

Review 23:This resort is exactly what the price suggests. Cheap clean and ok for a weekend stay. Staff was great. Location is great. Beach club is good.

Review 24:We're very picky food-wise so decided not to go all inclusive, but even so were disappointed to find out there was no a la carte restaurant on site, only buffets. Despite that the breakfast was very good - huge selection and eggs cooked fresh in front of you.

Review 25:Really good location - quite a quiet area but walking distance to bars and restaurants, which was ideal for us. Lovely big comfy bed. Little touches like places to hang wet clothes on balcony were well thought out. Diving shop on sight and good snorkelling just off the shore.

Review 26:Great value for your money. Gray for kids with the large pool. Norberto and his staff keep the kids busy and the daily evening shows are a bonus. Get the inclusive breakfast, rent a jeep for the week and explore the safest island or area in general in Mexico period. Viva Mexico!

Review 27:Most everything is out of date, degrading and it appears several regularmaintainence items are being ignored. At this rate, I wouldn't besurprised to see the resort close and become a ruin in 10 years.Acoustics in the rooms is awful. Our booking was to be a king bed roomwith pool view but we were put in a two small bed room/broom closetwith view of the street, which was unbelievably loud all night withcars, horns, harleys as well as all of the hotels deliveries and garbagepickup. No sleep. They did change our room the next day after much workon our part, basically missed the whole first day on Coz dealing withthis. Staff doesn't really care about anything you may needassistance with. The new room was better but not much, could still heareverything happening in the room beside us, not much sleep. Cleaningstaff do a very poor job of cleaning the resort common areas and rooms. The buffet breakfast made us sick.

Review 28:Nothing special to report but the car and scooter rental guys were niceand didn't rip us off when we rented our jeep! Also, Margaritavilleis within walking distance if you want a delicious burger, or to drinkaway your sorrows.

Review 29:When I booked I thought that for the price, well, I expected to have to put up with some inconveniences. Not at all! Very comfortable, clean, great buffet breakfast, nice beach area and amazing pool area and always helpful and pleasant staff. Amazing value for the money. Good location relative to easy walk to main drag in village (maybe 1 km).

Review 30:They requested to pay extra money for one person in 2 bed unit, while there were no warning of it in the description. Only one water bottle were allowed for the stay. And we asked 3 times for a bottle of water and the answer was - only one is allowed. The cleaning lady through away half empty bottle and was rearranging our belongings. Will not stay at this place again.

Review 31:The food is ok, the selection is limited and they serve the same thing almost everyday.

Review 32:We were there for Ironman Cozumel. I thought this hotel was a good value for the money. The staff were very friendly, especially the first 3/4 of our stay. The rooms are clean and spacious And the location is very close to town, walking distance. The pool is very nice!

Review 33:Liked the Mexican style facilities, breakfast, dinner... Was there for participating Ironman Cozumel, best desition this hotel, nice people, rooms very comfortable, pool, beach, well, everything very good.. Helpfull always...

Review 34:Quality of beds, ants, holes in entry door went thru to next room so we could hear them talk, water running, TV, hallways are Sautillo tile and housekeeping carts and luggage made horrific noise nearly 24 hours per day. Very old and run down facility.

Review 35:Proximity to downtown and stores.

Review 36:Intermittent problems with lights and air conditioning but staff was very prompt in attending to problems even in middle of night.

Review 37:Access to Dive Paradise dive shop across the street through understreet tunnel. All inclusive was a great deal. The food was very good, well prepared and presented. The staff was very attentive to all our needs.

Review 38:I came to Cozumel to visit my boyfriend who was doing his divemaster at Blue Angel, so we chose this place due to proximity. However, the place was very disappointing. When we arrived, we were directed to a room with two double beds that smelled like urine. We asked the front desk for a different room, since we had booked a room with a king bed. The front desk argued with us for several minutes and then made us pull up the confirmation we received from booking.com to prove ourselves. The room we ended up receiving smelled like smoke. The facilities were old and poorly maintained. The pool was nice, but the hot tub was cold. On the beach, most of the lounge chairs were broken. The food was poor and buffet style. It was really just nothing close to a resort. You can get much better value for your dollar.

Review 39:The location was good and despite their rickety condition, having bikes to take out for the day was great for getting around. The snorkeling right off the beach at the hotel was excellent.

Review 40:Wifi is not working properly and quits all the time, in the room there is no mini-fridge and the room itself is very very old with an old tv and a safe that looks like it's from 1910 (and not working). The bathtub curtain and the bathtub itself is dirty and not inviting for taking a shower, if you are a little bit tall you will find difficulties of taking a shower because the water exit is very low so you will have to bend. The sheets was dirty and not fitted the sizes of the bed. The hotel is located about 8 minutes driving from the center of the island. In general this hotel is big and has no taste at all and can fit for families with small kids. We will not recommend or return to this hotel.

Review 41:The snack bar in the pool was good with a reasonable prices. The breakfast buffet was just ok. The pool is large and nice but the water is a little bit dirty with flies and stuff.

Review 42:No real sandy beach but more a small lagoon.

Review 43:Very big pool, the hotel is located 10 minutes of walk from the center or 2 minutes ride. The breakfast was great and you also have a buffet for lunch by the pool.

Review 44:The food was bad..except breakfast and their fajitas. I like to try other foods from around the world or culture it just lacked flavor.

Review 45:Close to airport and water. Friendly staff. Their pool area excellent.

Review 46:Rooms

Review 47:the location

Review 48:I didn't like the cleaning in the room and smells in the hotel.

Review 49:Friendliness of the staff. Loved our house keeper...she was friendly, helpful, & kept our room very clean.

Review 50:BEDS WERE EXTREMELY HARD MAKING SLEEPING AN ISSUE FOR OLDER PEOPLE.

Review 51:STAFF WAS PROFESSIONAL AND FRIENDLY AT ALL TIMES

Review 52:Toilet paper can not be flushed it had to be placed in a bin

Review 53:Access to town centre Access to pier for dive boat pickup

Review 54:Dont have minibar or something like that in the room. Is little bit far from center

Review 55:the price is good. The room is big. Very nice pool .

Review 56:Bed a little too firm, but still okay

Review 57:Great Breakfast buffet

Review 58:Beds on the firm side.

Review 59:Good price. Nice pool area. Friendly and accommodating staff.

Review 60:Beds were awful. very hard

Review 61:The food is not the best,

Review 62:Extremely uncomfortable room

Review 63:Located close to diving.

Review 64:food decor

Review 65:location beach club

Review 66:Everything. And a diving club next to the hotel

Review 67:No WiFi in the rooms, not even paid one.

Review 68:Facilities.

Review 76:Rampes pour chaises roulantes. Douche accessible.

Review 77:Poca varidad de comida, no hay refrigeradores.

Review 78:La ubicacion.

Review 79:Hard beds Stuffy room Not updated Food was not good

Review 80:Location

Review 81:Hidden charges(charged an extra $38USD/day for a 13 year old child.Claimed over 12 was an adult. Breakfast wasn't included for 10 an 11year olds.

Review 82:Breakfasts, the pool

Review 83:Nice older hotel with wonderful staff. The pool and stage show peoplewho run the activities were excellent. Norberto, was awesome. Highlyrecommend hotel if you are 3-3.5 star type of people. Great pool forages of all and huge at that. Did not get all inclusive, just thebreakfast only since we rent jeep and cruise this wonderful island. Goto Hotel Coz and Cozumel, the safest place in Mexico.

Review 84:The bed wasn't the most comfortable. Our daughters's family's deck door didn't lock. We were only there one night, so it wasn't a big deal. We felt safe. At breakfast, there was a bit of a language barrier, but we worked it out.

Review 85:We loved the pool area, the hotel checkin area, the views. We also loved the breakfast that we were served.

Review 86:Floor around swiming pool is really slipery when feet are wet and when they clean youre room they dont change youre linens

Review 87:They have good food and a nice swiming pool

Review 88:bit of a hike to town buffet was very expensive if you were not all inclusive limited activities would have liked bicycles boogie boards fridge in room

Review 89:room service menu was cheaper than buffet if you were not all inclusive as we were not and good selection breakfast buffet was good and good selection big pool entertainment

Review 90:They turn off the hot tub at 10pm. Local calls cost 50 cents. They charge for bringing hot water to the room. The bathrooms are cramped and feel old.

Review 91:The location was close to downtown and a jump away from the water.

Review 92:Very bad food Durin the rain you have nothing to dry your clothe or swimm suites The prices for excursions very high (80 - 100$ ) per person You need to go to meeting point by taxi at your expense Outside the hotel 3 steps away everything is very dirty. So never in my life I will be back

Review 93:Only sea and sun outside the hotel

Review 94:The internet access was very bad, it didn't work from the room and in the lobby it was very poor.

Review 95:The hotel is clean, safe, quite close to the center.

Review 96:Nothing

Review 97:Much better than I expected for the price. Great staff. Lots of activity options. Nice pool. Convenient location near supermarket, cineplex, and has beach access.

Review 98:Hotel appears to be in a slump. It appeared that they brought in groupsof kids to use the pool and for daytime parties or field trips tosupplement their income. As a guest I felt that this was wrong as I wasa paying guest of the resort and could not enjoy the pool. In theevenings there was a team of swimmers practicing for their sport. Theyserved leftover food from the previous days menu each day at breakfast.

Review 99:There is a saying that you get what you pay for and that is the casewith Cozumel Hotel and Resort. We only paid $450 for 5 nights andbreakfast was included. The hotel is old but kept clean.

Review 100:I was expecting a good cup of coffee being in Mexico but I did not findit there. I'm not sure if any of the rooms actually have anoceanview... I requested one and did not get one or an explaination asto why. It was unclear as to if the ice was potable, but the scoopprovided was not sufficient- small, plastic and cracked. I noticedpeople taking it with their hands.

Review 101:The housekeeping staff was friendly and attentive. The front desk staffwas professional. The food service team was accomodating and went out oftheir way to get to know where you are from. The all-included breakfastwas a good deal- an abundant buffet with fresh eggs to order availableas well. (The coffee was served from a carafe and was only luke warmwhich was a bummer....) There's a large well kept swiming pool inthe center courtyard and across the street is a small area with beachand snorkeling access. It was an easy and safe walk to downtown. I wouldrecomend this hotel.

Review 102:They have a really bad service, thinking that is you are a forein person you will stolen the hotel. So imagine, spend a weekend there with the security checking all the time if you are a guest and let you eat only if you pay before even if you have a pre paid check. And the food is awful!

Review 103:The food was targetted to the bulk budget diner. We expected this given the "all inclusive" options available. However it dissuaded us from dining at the hotel. Quality of water in the bathrooms was not the best. Every day started with a rusty deposit in the hand basin, a sign of age.

Review 104:The location to the sea was handy and it was not far to walk to the town. Quality of internet was very good. Rooms were tidy and functional and the sliding metal screens provided a sense of security (and additional darkness) at night

Review 105:Nothing really to complain about.

Review 106:It had a big pool with sunbeds for free, they also had activities all day but we never joined n(not sure if they were of extra charge). The location was ok, around 20-20 min walk to the ferry boat to Playa del Carmen, 60 PESOS taxidrive. The breakfast was really good, lot of things to choose from, fresh and lots of fruit and vegetables.Really good drinks and cheap. The lunch buffe was so and so, but reasonably priced (eat the cheeseburger that was really good).

Review 107:The very loud show at night, very tacky and old fashioned , can'tbelieve you had this absolutely hideous, and it would run over time ,til 945pm when we were trying to get to sleep! The too hot spa poolcould not get in the very cold swimming pool, could not swim , too cold!

Review 108:Filtered water available

Review 109:The food there is awful and the morning coffee is cold. The pillows havebeen through the washer, so they were very lumpy bumpy. It is meant tobe a Hotel for Divers. If looking for comfort, sleep elsewhere and ifyou want good food go into town.

Review 110:Location is good and if it was not so windy it would have been a greatsnorkle spot.

Review 111:Nothing, it was all good!

Review 112:Price, drinks, location, staff, and entertainment

Review 113:Bed, room was not nice although convenient to the pool

Review 114:Pool

Review 115:I didn't like the smell of their soap and shampoo.

Review 116:Nice pool! Friendly staff. Great breakfast!

Review 117:Lack of Internet

Review 118:Location, friendly staff, nice breakfast buffet, nice pool

Review 119:Staff needs to improve their service.

Review 120:nice pool

Review 121:Near to dive school

Review 122:The pool area was not clean and the staff had more of a police mentality than service oriented.

Review 123:I liked the proximity to town.

Review 124:No ventilation in the toilets

Review 125:The beach was very nice and relaxing.

Review 126:Pool was falling into disrepair. Ants in rooms. Particularly noisy.

Review 127:Staff were helpful

Review 128:The management - bad attitudes The hair salon - tried to charge me $85 for a haircut The dirty pool The restaurant

Review 129:Location and price

Review 130:Gym was old and poor equipment Overall resort looked aged

Review 131:Room

Review 132:very rrelaxing, frirndly helpful staff

Review 133:The beach (stones) the food (very basic) the insulation of the room(very noisy)

Review 134:Warm water space in the room
