Reviews for Hotel Westendia

Review 1:Struggling to think of anything!

Review 2:A conveniently positioned, friendly small hotel. Breakfast was well presented and adequate as continental breakfasts go.

Review 3:there were mosquitos in the room

Review 4:big and cozy room, breakfast was simple but enough. I called the hotel because I wasn't sure I could be there before 18:00 and they didn't have any issues and provided a very quick solution.

Review 5:- shower holder, difficult taking shower holding shower with one hand. - no little fridge in rooms - breakfast started at 8h30, should be at 7am for early birds

Review 6:quiet location. large room

Review 7:This was more like a motel to me, while it was clean it was run down. The shower head in the bathroom was broken so you and to hold it an the water pressure was only a drizzle so my daughter couldn't hardly get the soap off her. There was some mold/mildew stuff in the bath/shower area. The door was hard to open and shut to get in and to of the room. The bathroom door didn't even had a handle in toilet room and you had to put your fingernail in a hole to open the door. It was not as close to the beach as the description claimed, probably double that but there is a parking lot near the beach if needed. The walls were paper thin and we could hear the loud family beside us. The bed was comfortable but no screens so hubby got bit several times by mosquitoes during the night even after shutting the windows. The breakfast was great, European style, and it yummy.

Review 8:It was clean in the room (bathroom was run down) and the wifi worked. The breakfast was good. I loved that it was fairly close to the beach, not as close as advertised but close.

Review 9:Our room toilet was blocked and we were disappointed with the managers response saying it was a minor technical problem!! it was not too us!! we eventually had to use the room next door toilet, it was luck that this room was vacant.

Review 10:The location was convenient as it suited our journey towards Holland.

Review 11:Unattended reception on our arrival (a post-it note with instructions stuck to the lobby window) and not not open for breakfast before 8.30. The most expensive B&B of 7 during a week-long tour of Belgium, so not best value.

Review 12:Large airy bedroom with views over a quiet garden area

Review 13:Furniture was poor but it wasn't a problem for a short stay.

Review 14:Very clean and wide, well heated rooms. Breakfast with good warm croissants . The owner was kind and served us breakfast very early the day of departure despite normal time for breakfast was much later.

Review 15:Nothing

Review 16:Very quiet village with a few good food outlets but a bigger choice only 5 km away in Middelkerke. Safe parking, 10 minute walk to the dunes and excellent beaches. On the coast tram route from Nieuport to Ostend.

Review 17:Very basic room with no tea making or other frills A bit pricey for what it was (Euro 105)

Review 18:It was ca. 500m walk to the long beach and seafront restaurants. About the same into town with 3 restaurants incl a burger joint. Breakfast was a bit limited (e.g. no cereal or fruit) but plenty of fresh bread, croissants etc (not buffet)

Review 19:As my wife and myself are elderly we found the beds rather low although they were comfortable. Other than that I could not find anything that I did not like.

Review 20:The Hotel was very relaxing and quiet. We had a ground floor room and we were able to park ouitside the front door. A very nice terrace at back with table and chairs. Walking distance to the beach. The breakfast was excellent and plentiful. I certainly enjoyed the coffee. No cereals. Altogether I would recomend this hotel to all.The proprieter is very friedly and helpful. he speaks good English.

Review 21:Very basic room, bracket on wall for shower head was missing so could not shower without holding the head in one hand. Breakfast was as basic as it gets. We know a continental breakfast isn't the same as a cooked British breakfast but a few cold bread rolls with cheese and salami is more of a mid morning/afternoon snack. We at least expected some cereal and milk for the kids with some toast for the adults. Very difficult to find someone on reception, you need to wait a few minutes for someone to appear as it's not manned during the day.

Review 22:Location was good for shops and beach, Wi-Fi was great.

Review 23:No tea & coffee making facilities in the room.

Review 24:Large spacious and clean rooms. Comfortable bed. Nice little outside space with table & chairs. Good powerful shower. Nice breakfast. Free parking. Close to beach.

Review 25:No tea, coffee facilities, room just needs freshening up.

Review 26:Big room with terrace, breakfast

Review 27:the bathroom is outdated, but functional.

Review 28:the room is large enough

Review 29:The locality room size and breakfast were excellent. The staff were courteous and we'd have no problem with booking the hotel again.

Review 30:Very friendly very quiet close to the trams and beach

Review 31:Very friendly staff. Only 15mins walk to seafront.

Review 32:Good local beers and good fresh breakfast selection. Good size room fo family of 4 if only a bit dated

Review 33:It was quiet. Parking is immediately outside the room. Rooms are large, with a terrace overlooking garden.

Review 34:SOME OF THE LIGHTS DID NOT WORK IN THE ROOM, LIGHT SWITCH WAS HIDDEN

Review 35:IT WAS OK - THE WIFI WAS EASY TO CONNECT TO & A GOOD SIGNAL

Review 36:Good value for the money and friendly staff. Breakfast included in price was nice bonus.

Review 37:I can't think of a single problem. I certainly plan to visit again when driving through Belgium.

Review 38:The hotel is in a very quiet road in a quiet and attractive small town. It is only a 10 minute walk from the famous Belgian dunes coast, and there are a selection of small restaurants in the town and even more after a 5 minute car ride to Middelkerke. Breakfast is large and tasty European style and there is a good safe play area for children.

Review 39:It would have been nice to have a full length mirror in the room and acouple more pillows. Also about booking.com Please stop addressing me asPeter, my name is Mr Friend until I tell you otherwise!

Review 40:Excellent breakfast Warm and friendly welcome

Review 41:Quite hard to find in the dark when we arrived

Review 42:Very spacious room with balcony over garden, and a BATH! It made a really nice end to our holiday, with an excellent breakfast and a cheerful host, who stayed late to welcome us.

Review 43:Not enough towels in the room for 4 people. ( Which I am sure, would have been added if we had asked.)

Review 44:The manager was very helpful with any additional requests we had.

Review 45:Location, as we stayed on a Monday when everything was closed and difficult to find an evening meal with only bikes for transport.

Review 46:Large room, nice flow through of air on our hot evening. Good breakfast.

Review 47:limited check-in/out hours, unless by prior arrangement

Review 48:Quiet location, but not far from the town and beach; good sized rooms, free parking and a great breakfast

Review 49:Owner could have been friendlier though was helpful when asked anything.

Review 50:Large basic but clean room with sitting out area. 5 minutes to sea or 5to town centre. Take your own shampoo and hairdryer. Good as a base fortravelling around the area but would not use it as a base for a beachholiday - would want something less basic but for a young family on abudget might be O.K.

Review 51:hotel was not the word really for here, it is more of a bed and breakfast. There was no facilities such as a bar and the location of the hotel was not great as not much around in regards of restaurants etc. Glad we only used as a one night stop over.

Review 52:The room was large with plenty of space.

Review 53:1. Damp in a bathroom (I've got a photo to prove it).2. TV could be only switched ON/OFF if a plug removed from a socket. 3. I had to use my screwdriver to repair a cupboard door hinges due to safety of my daughter. 4. Chairs were very dodgy - did not keep a balance. My daughter almost lost her tooth whilst having her meal as the chair fall over against the table when she tried to get more food. Thank's God she only cut her lips when hitting the edge of the table. 5. A simple hotel in Germany on E40 was much better for the same money. 6. Next time i will find something else.

Review 54:1.Not bad location.2.Male staff was nice. 3.Breakfast was simple but nice.

Review 55:The proprietor is aware that the rooms need to be updated, but therehave to be priorities for finances. Renewing the four boilers andresurfacing the car parking area were more important.

Review 56:The hotel is a ten minute walk from the beach and a further five minutesfrom the centre of town. I believe there are rooms in the main housewhere Reception and the breakfast room and bar are. We were in the twostorey purpose built accommodation at the back. The room was spaciouswith plenty of storage. A balcony with a view across a grassy area.Plenty of hot water. A bath with a shower. The toilet separated from thebath by a sliding door. Three arm chairs. The room was comfortable. Thearea is quiet. There is plenty of on-site parking.

Review 57:The sheets were too small for the bed. There was no map of where thingswere located like a place for dinner etc.

Review 58:It was very convinient for the beach, which we discovered by accident.

Review 59:- W.c door handle broken- No place to put our toilet items in the bathroom - The sheet for the large bed not wide enough, at about 20cm inside the edge on both sides (this we had never seen before) which was quite unconfortable - coffee served cold and only cold milk

Review 60:Good size of the room, nice welcoming, big cupboard to put our items.

Review 61:The rooms themselves were based in an annex to the back of the hotelbuilding where you went for breakfast. The staff left at 7pm and lockedup. There wasn't much going on in the area around, you definatly need acar to get about further, so lucky we were only staying two nights. There was a bar in the main hotel building but because it closed at 7pmyou could not retire back there for a drink later before going to yourroom. Maybe it was the time of year, not sure.

Review 62:The price of the hotel was about right for facilities etc. The roomswere basic, but large enough for the length of our stay. We only saw twomembers of staff. The gentleman who seemed to do the majority of thingsfrom reception to making the breakfast was very approachable. Breakfastwas from 8-10am, but he was agreeable to doing us an early breakfast at7.30 as we needed to set off early on our final day. I thought this wasexcellent service.

Review 63:Our only real issue was that there was no separate shower or even over-the-bath shower (perhaps I should have checked this before booking). We were also somewhat disappointed to find no guests lounge area, but this might be normal for hotels on the continent.

Review 64:Very quiet, in a quiet street, within walking distance of the coast tram and places to eat. Good breakfast, staff unobtrusive but helpful and polite when needed. Large room with nice garden view and large patio window.

Review 65:big rooms with a nice view of the garden

Review 66:Very nice room , nice and warm when we arrived , very friendly welcome.

Review 67:Nothing to dislike

Review 68:Large, very comfortable rooms Ample free parking Free Wi-fi Good breakfast Helpful and friendly owner Great value for money

Review 69:clean, comfortable, ideal for short stay. Good breakfast, Good value. Owner very helpful.

Review 70:No kettle in the room

Review 71:Cleanliness and was close to the play park

Review 72:no tea/coffee making facilities, needs to be on general info then can bring own, otherwise fine

Review 73:large room with nice patio

Review 74:rooms looking rather tired, no kettle in room

Review 75:Friendly staff, 10 min walk to beach, large room

Review 76:Bed linen worn out... Very basic facilities but all clean....

Review 77:Location & free parking....
