Reviews for Miyako Daiichi Hotel
Review 1:My room didn't have curtains. Instead it had wooden shutters. This let in more light then your average curtains.
Review 2:It was cheap. You got what you paid for. A room with a toilet. For under 4000 yen, you can't expect much more. The wi-fi worked well and it was close to the main drag.
Review 3:Room was as pictured, i.e. small, though not microscopic as sometimes happens in Japan. In short, pictures are honest, so select the room you want going in. This is not a complaint, however if you were looking for the water, there is no beach to which you can walk. Plenty of parking at the hotel so make sure you have an international driver's license, because on Miyako you really need to rent a car or scooter to get around.
Review 4:You are right on the edge of the 'core' of the town, so for seeing the shops, enjoying the festival, access to restaurants, etc., this place is fine. Also, I use a laptop, and they have a WiFi receiver that you take to your room, and plug your laptop into it, worked great. (Never got around to testing the actual WiFi.) Staff knew very little English, but were most helpful, tried hard, and would get an English speaker on the telephone if necessary. Always took care of any problem. Front desk manned 24-hours. Restaurant downstairs. Miyako City Library with English language newspapers on a rack for reading (in the library) is right around the corner.
