Reviews for Hotel B Cozumel-Boutique by the Sea

Review 1:Not a great welcome!!! After a long journey to Cozumel I checked into the hotel - very exhausted. I had booked a jungle view room online however on arrival was disappointed to find out that it is actually the main street view - there is no jungle view.... So I felt mislead - then when I asked to upgrade I was lead to believe that the ocean view rooms were much more expensive but more than half of the hotel was vacant. After allot of heavy and uncomfortable negotiating I finally got an Ocean Front room which was pleasant but soulless... I later found out from other guests that they had a similar experience with the jungle view and upgrade and had paid the same fee without so much hassle. Outside visitors are allowed to come in and use the facilities for a daily fee which includes food and drink - large groups of young people showed up and took over all of the facilities so there was little or no room for actual guests..... Overall not the best hotel service - you don't feel well looked after as a guest....However the Head of Sales was the most pleasant person and seemed to try to make up for the lack of charisma and kindness lacking from the rest of the staff...

Review 2:Beautiful outdoor facilities and great views of the sea!

Review 3:As a boutique Hotel it lacks some facilities like frigobar. Improvement of services for the front desk and cleaning maid

Review 4:All the facilities. The pool, The deck, coral reefs at your footstep. Nice breakfast and wonderful room with view.

Review 5:The location is fantastic, right up to the sea with snorkelling right from the jetty! The rooms have a great sea view with good balconies and bathrooms.

Review 6:Since you have a coffeemaker in the room and an the hotel is a bit "pricy" you should get complementary coffee every day. Not just the first day, if you want coffee the rest of the stay you have to pay 25 pesos/day/per bag.

Review 7:Very nice location and very nice rooms. Overall a very nice hotel in a relaxing area.

Review 8:Restaurant service was mixed depending on waiter.

Review 9:Beach area was amazing, stand out best part. It was away from the town centre which is good as this can be a bit tacky with all the cruise ships. Very relaxed and beautiful setting.

Review 10:The setting is spectacular .You are at the edge of the sea. A very Zen like setting. Loved the pool and snorkeling lagoon. I will definitely come back. Bravo !!!

Review 11:The staff was very unfriendly, they charged my room twice although i notified them that they charched me already. The service at the restraunt was very slow and inefficient.

Review 12:The only good thing about this place is the pool and the view.

Review 13:,Housekeeping didn't clean our room Poor Service, Service that surpasses the most expensive !

Review 14:Spectacular views, Great swimming pool, Jacuzzi on the beach, snorkeling, Solarium, Spacious rooms.

Review 15:I chose to walk to the hotel from the ferry terminal - do not do that, it's absurdly hot.

Review 16:Amazing facilities, accommodating staff. Snorkelling off the pier has more wildlife than some of the "reefs" further down the island. Happy to organise anything you need while you stay, and they let me hang around for half a day after checking out - an exceptional experience all around.

Review 17:Day pass policy makes hotel too crowded and noisy

Review 18:Large room with fabulous view Perfect snorkling location Delicious & interesting brackfast menu Pool area well designed Free bicycles

Review 19:The breakfast wasn't that good and the staff was extremely slow and not nice at all (only during breakfast)

Review 20:Great hotel with AMAZING view, the receptionist was really nice and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable.

Review 21:There was no wifi at the rooms and at the pool '! There was no hot water in the shower!! The breakfast didn't include a machin coffe Everything was needed extra Payment Far from the center ישראלים- תישנו בקסטה מקסיקנה ותעשו day pass בהוטל b - אל תישנו פה חוץ מזה שיש במלון מכת יתושים מטורפת

Review 22:Amazing pool, beautiful view

Review 23:there is no WiFi inside the room. every time you want to go to the city you have to take a cab

Review 24:happy hour was great, french toast at the breakfast was tasty the pool and the view were awesome

Review 25:Staff was not really friendly overall and seem flustered. Bathroom wasn't cleaned very well. The pool and ocean area is so beautiful but since they offer day passes it felt a bit crowded. Would prefer if it was just for guests.

Review 26:Comfy bed, gorgeous view, good snorkeling area. It was all about the location and outdoor areas.

Review 27:The rooms are bad We also did laundry and it cost like 800 pesos for a few shirts and underwear (they didn't warn us it's gonna be so expensive only after we got the laundry back)

Review 28:The pool

Review 29:Very overpriced for what you get. Rooms are of a 2 star hotel, mosquitos are everywhere and overwhelm the place. Beds are uncomfortable. We booked a room for three and were treated as two. No extra bed was supplied, only two towels were given(but got after we asked) and only after screaming at the receptionist got two keys.. instead of one which they insisted. Furthermore although not required of them, recipstionist was unpleasent- insisting on giving all the rooms to ppl checking in at 15 pm sharp.. though hotel was empty and we arrived at 1pm asking for an early check in. It was obviously easy to do so, and was only a principal of the hotel. We booked 2 rooms and they could of done much better on this issue. Hotel is very far from civilization

Review 30:Great facilities at the hotel. Nice pool, jaccuzi, small and easy to access all parts of hotel . Beach is great and well taken care of

Review 31:First of all the hotel was full with mosquitoes and other bugs include the pool. Breakfast was ok and not more. The room was little small and the sheets of the bed was not clean at all

Review 32:Nothing

Review 33:No wifi available in the rooms and although they said you get it in other parts of the building, it was always poor. Located a bit of a distance from bars etc, but good if you want quiet.

Review 34:Great views from our room. Lovely welcome to the hotel, drink and lots of info. Pool area is excellent with chance to swim in the ocean as well.

Review 35:The WiFi only works near the pool and the reception. The ground floor balconies are right at the pool with all the consequences. The free breakfast is very poor (two toasts and coffee). The rooms are not soundproofed, so you hear the cars in motorway very well and they go until 2am. Also there is some pump or compressor on the southern side of the building that runs every 20-30 min and is extremely loud. Forget about sleeping. Beds are very basic and uncomfortable. Rooms are poorly furnished. No fridge, so you're forced to buy cold drinks at the restaurant. Also it's not something I didn't like, but I was very surprised - the amount of Israelis staying in the hotel is astounding. I'd say 80%.

Review 36:The hotel's recreational area on the beach was great. But that's about it.

Review 37:There was a large group of young people hanging out at the pool the entire day that got louder while the day passed. I don't get why a nice quite hotel like this would allow such (quite disturbing) groups.

Review 38:I really loved the pool and the facilities, the hotel has a very cozy feel and staff is very friendly.

Review 39:We were on the ground floor the first night and although the staff was friendly Attention to detail is not their thing: there were papers on the room's floor and the bathroom did not smell good. The second room, on the 4th floor was better but again there were things to improve: 2 conditioners but no shampoo among the toiletries, water was not refilled, only one glass for 3 people. For the price asked for, the guest should not be calling the reception asking for these... Breakfast was good but it took long sometimes, once I ordered pancakes and had to wait another 10 min and ask 3 times till I got the honey to eat them. The wifi was not fully reliable.

Review 40:The view, the pool, the surrounding sea for snorkelling were great. Also the decoration of the rooms.

Review 41:Wifi comes and goes. Kind of annoying. Dinner leaves some to be desired,

Review 42:Best pool and sea!! Very comfortable rooms. snaks and drinks were greate at reasonable prices. All in all we loved it

Review 44:lack of minibar in the room, wifi did not work in the rooms, rooms had two beds but both were small. Also car rental partner had lousy expensive cars and scuba center at the hotel was extremely expensive (not such a big deal since there were many other downtown).

Review 45:View, pool, incredible access to the ocean (pool and jacuzzi one step away from snorkelling in the transparent ocean waters), staff, cleanliness, jazz presentation by the pool at nights

Review 46:Beds were a little too hard for my taste but very clean and comfortable rooms. Nice!

Review 47:The view was incredible. The pool was so perfectly connected to the ocean. Snorkeling was beautiful too!

Review 48:A nice hotel like this can not live with providing wifi only at the reception area. With rooms with such a nice view and balconies, one is still not able to work or surf on the internet from the room. Please solve this issue.

Review 49:The location and the surrouding spaces of the hotel. The infinity pool, the direct access to the sea, the several lounge areas, the staff friendliness.

Review 50:Hotel doesn't look much from the exterior but makes up for it inside. Need to pay more for Mexican breakfast.

Review 51:Lovely pool & subbed area right next to the sea. Easy access to the water for snorkelling. Good breakfasts.

Review 52:The sheets and towels are extremely scratchy. I understand about the wifi not being in the rooms due to the wall structure of the building, but is annoying. Also, the TV never worked. I know it was vacation, but would have been nice to catch a show before bed.

Review 53:The service and location were absolutely PERFECT!! Everyone was extremely polite, friendly and went above and beyond.

Review 54:The only disappointment was although we indicated our approximate arrival time during the reservation process, the room was not ready upon our arrival. I thought that info might be used by the hotel staff in consideration of which rooms to prepare first. We had to get up in the middle of the night to make our flight and admittedly we arrived earlier than standard check-in time but had to wait for the room. That was disappointing because we were exhausted. However, we soon got over it and enjoyed the rest of our stay.

Review 55:What we loved the most was the setting of the hotel perched on the rocky coastline. Loved the infinity pool looking over the natural swimming hole of the coastline. Also loved how the hot tub was set in the rocky cliff overlooking the ocean. The restaurant is conveniently placed to enjoy the views. Rooms are just fine and so glad we upgraded to the ocean view.

Review 56:the room was on the face small and old the air Conditioner makes a lot of noise the breakfast was small and not enough the pool was small with a lot of people that came not from the hotel you can come to the pool by pay of 15 $

Review 57:The only good thing in the hotel is that is close to the sea

Review 58:The service at the reception from the beginning was very unwelcoming and gave the filling that they have something better to do. when you talk with someone at the reception he do not give you the time and treatment you deserve. The hotel doesnt let you know that in a daily basis they sell vouchers to people outside of the hotel if they want to spend the day at the pool and bar, this deal create a situation that you can find yourself without a place to sit and relax like you suppose to do. (because everybody else have saved a sit with a towel since 6 am and you didn't make the cut) finally when we left the hotel and came to do our check out the guy at the reception was so unkind and didn't explain us the papers that heed us and basically just wanted us to leave, he didn't offer any assistant with the luges nor did he offer to order a taxi. This experience left a poor taste to our great honeymoon. people don't need to be treated like that no matter how special the location is, its not worth it.

Review 59:The hotel is located in a great area on the island. The rooms are very big and comfortable with space for every thing. The design of the hotel is very impressive and make you feel in a holiday.

Review 60:Had to ask three times to get bath towels - finally got two. Very poor service in the restaurant and bar - completely unacceptable. Free breakfast was very basic and blah - expected much better here.

Review 61:Good location, nice grounds

Review 62:We expected wi-fi in the room, we don't understand why internet works at reception only, it's not a big cost for the hotel

Review 63:Location and peacefull enviroment

Review 64:WIFI not so good, but we were on vacation

Review 65:Our wait staff was EXCELLENT Miguel was one of the TOP waiters, Mario another... all so attentive GREAT music also!!!

Review 66:Very uncomfortable bed and bedding - linens and towels old and scratchy. The toilet didn't flush properly, and there was no hot water in the shower at night. The food was mediocre. Service was very poor. There is constant music on from a computer and the noises from system errors/ alerts are constantly heard! Very disturbing. We told them about this and they did nothing about it. All the workers in the hotel seemed unhappy and not interested in providing service, to the point of being rude. Initially our reservation was for 5 nights, we left after 3 nights. The free wifi is useless, just didn't work from almost anywhere in the hotel. The hotel price is low, but you get exactly what you pay for. I would never go back.

Review 67:Loved the views! Mercedes, housekeeping was the only friendly face.

Review 68:Service was the #1 disappointment. Lazy staff, unfriendly and do things on their own time and schedule, not the customer's. 4 star price with 1star service. Supposed to be organic and hippie friendly, then serve more vegetarian, vegan and overall healthier options. For the big cost, it should be all inclusive including free bikes for all, free yoga, free paddle boards and other activities free and included. Way too much extra costs. Also, get a gym. No body lotion in room. Wi-Fi could not connect in rooms. No early check-in to accommodate our early arrival. Cleaning the rooms took forever. Rooms not stocked properly. Beds and pillows not comfortable. Dive shop overpriced compared to other hotels.

Review 69:The beautiful view, yoga by the sea, soothing music, nice cabanas and relatively private and not congested. Great for a couple who do want more quiet than party.

Review 70:Wi-Fi was spotty, not dependable, toilet had a hard time flushing, no elevators, these were inconviences, not bad....

Review 71:Beautiful location, great staff, grounds were wonderful, nice distance from town, nice water entry for snorkling, we had a very relaxing time

Review 72:We loved the scenery! Nice ocean view from your room! The infinity pool, hot tub and plenty of places to relax. Nice Happy Hour too! Very pleasant experience!

Review 73:Bed was rock hard, my arm went numb both nights.... But the snaking wake up of gorgeous scenery was worth it!

Review 74:Lovely place just a short walk from the best key lime pie in the world... Serious about that. I will dream about that dessert for years.

Review 75:They did what they could to improve the situation but the Wi-Fi was not good. I believe it was intermittent on the whole island. A small point, but it is time to change the placemats in the restaurant. The evening meals were excellent - gourmet in fact.

Review 76:The view is fantastic as well as snorkelling outtfront. The staff were very friendly hard-working. We stayed two weeks and I was starting to get attached to them.

Review 77:THE SIZE, OCEANFRONT ROOMS, FRIENDLY STAFF, EXCELLENT RESTAURANT AND QUIET LOCATION WITH SNORKELING AVAILABLE RIGHT OFF THE PIER MAKE THIS A GREAT PLACE FOR A RELAXING VACATION

Review 78:Incredible view of the sea at the rooms, great employees and services. High Class hotel for Boutique Style Services appreciators. This is really a great hotel in all the aspects.

Review 79:The food is nothing to write home about, as others here have mentioned.

Review 80:Our room looked exactly like in the pictures on booking.com, from the gorgeous view to the huge comfy bed and the rose pedals it was decorated with! Wished we could have stayed longer - the options for relaxing at the waterfront range from hammocks, a whirlpool, a big floating mattress of sorts out in the sea to the deckchairs at the infinity pool, and the beds in the sandy relax area. Snorkelling is also possible.

Review 81:Internet was a bit intermittent, but quite adequate.

Review 82:The staff was very nice! Jose, the evening desk manager, was very special. He recommended La Perlita, which was the best experience for seafood. Breakfasts were excellent! The location was wonderful.

Review 83:No lamps or mini bar in room. I have a folding cooler which worked fine. The desk staff (except Jose) didn't ever smile or speak except for what they have to do to check you in. Our safe in room never worked or was repaired, but we could use the safe beside the front desk. No close by market or restaurants outside hotel facilities.

Review 84:Grounds, balcony, Enrique in restaurant, bed, bath and overall location. When the 10 story hotel beside Hotel B still shaded their lounge and beach area, Hotel B's was sunny and still cool in the morning. All the balconies were large enough for outside seating. While one person sleeps, another can sit outside and enjoy the sun or moon. Very quiet.

Review 85:BEWARE!! They put us in workers room! Not what you see at pictures. They also did it to other 2 girls at the same day. If they give you room no 303, 403 don't move from the lobby (and don't trust their smiling faces). In addition to all this, we had to be up all night because the loud music the room that connect us with common door heard all night. Our begging to silence from that guest and from the reception didn't work. Only after my wife told them that they ruined our honeymoon, and after they saw her cry they moved us to normal room. No wi-fi in rooms also

Review 86:private beach

Review 87:We booked an ocean front room and got a closet facing the street. It was after dark by the time they had our room ready so we didn't want to wander around Cozumel looking for other options for one night (and we were worried Booking would charge us if we didnt stay here in the closet the hotel gave us). The wifi in the hotel was too bad to even call Booking to get help (eventually late in the evening I was able to make one call over the internet to Booking to plead for help) at 10pm. The woman on the phone said she couldnt help as it was late. The Hotel B beds in the closet street room were horrible, the room had prison windows, Booking and Hotel B never gave us any discount. After we contacted Booking for help, the hotel got upset and then took away their promise to give us an ocean front room. It took 45 minutes of arguing with the front desk to get our promised ocean front room. We got it at 4:30pm on our last day with one hour of sunlight left. It was a wonderful view for the hour! The pool is delightful but I would have preferred to have been able to sleep in my room for my entire stay. The bed in the closet room was so bad and I was so upset we didnt have our nice ocean view room that I did not sleep at all. This much stress should not happen on vacation. Not sure even with the nice pool I could ever recommend this place to anyone.

Review 88:My friend and I were put in a storage closet facing the street instead of the ocean front room we booked on Booking.com. The hotel has massive overbooking problems. After we called Booking and complained on Twitter, the next day the front staff said we could never get our ocean front room. After 45 mins of arguing at the front desk, we got our ocean front room for one night at 4:30pm. Also, there is no wifi. If you are lucky enough to just get the room you book, I am sure you will like the hotel (minus the not working wifi). The pool area is nice. Since the beds in the closet room are not functioning (nowhere near as luxurious as the ocean side rooms) I tried to sleep on the floor of our room, then in the hammocks outside by the pool but they take the hammocks down at night. If you stay here you unfortunately have a high chance of being forced into closet room as well. I'm not sure it is worth the gamble.

Review 89:Food menu is limited and some what expensive, happy hour drinks are limited to a few things, occasional sewer gas smell in bathroom, non of this would deter me from staying here again.

Review 90:Location, facilities, great bed, fantastic view, laid back vibe, friendly helpful staff. If/when I go back to Cozumel I will stay here again. We walked into town every day but a taxi is only $6 (US) each way. Really enjoyed the Hotel B!

Review 91:Couldn't give us a king room. Location bit out of town (2.5km). Pool quite small to swim properly in.

Review 92:House reef Rock-top hot tub (could be hotter) Swimming pool (small) Nice views from rooms. Some good drinks.

Review 93:Everything, we stayed for 3 nights and did not leave the hotel. They provided everything we needed and this is far the best hotel I have every stayed in!! Have and will recommend it to others.

Review 94:They nickel and dime you a little, e.g., you have a coffee maker, but charge for the coffee packets. The staff is very friendly and competent, but it would be helpful if at least the person at the front desk had better English skills. But the friendliness makes up for it. The toilets have a faint sewer-smell, but this comes along with the incredible beauty of Cozumel, which is a much nicer way to be in the "Mexican Riviera" than Cancun.

Review 95:This is not a luxury hotel. Imagine a Holiday Inn or Best Western remade into a spare boutique. The draw is that it is right on the sea, but without a sandy beach, with decent snorkeling, and a pool and hot tub right there. It also has good yoga every morning on a deck (for a fee) and good spa services in hotel room. The open-air restaurant is good and reasonable. The people are nice and the clientele diverse, and mostly young.

Review 96:The first day I left a pair of sandals inside my room. When I returned from the beach they were missing. I reported it to the Front Desk Staff. Security was also notified. Staff searched the beach area and security checked my room. I was offended when several of the restaurant staff said I was drunk - which I wasn't. The next morning my sandals and another pair turned up in another room??? And, the Front Desk had no comment or apology. Luckily, the rest of my stay went without incident. I would stay here again, but the Front Desk Staff needs some Hospitality Training.

Review 97:Miguel, Sugia - Restaurant and Beta - Housekeeping were wonderful. The Front Desk acted like they could care less. The beach day beds were great and the water or pool was just steps away. The center of Town was a 35 minute walk, but it was a good daily exercise.

Review 98:The hotel is perfectly located, right on the blue waters and just 2 miles north of the town of San Miguel. They have an amazing infinity pool, Jacuzzi right on the sea, palapas and sun beds always available. Food at the restaurant is very good and the breakfast included in our room price is perfect to start the day altough you can add more dishes by paying some little extras. The hotel also offers great activities such as yoga classes, massages and ceviche or tequila classes. Rooms are clean and spacious and we had booked a "jungle view" so I guess the beach view rooms with terrace are even better. I will definitely come back!

Review 99:The hotel is 3 km north from downtown so you need a 50-60 peso taxi to get there (one way). The beds are not so comfortable. Some of the sheets were a little bit dirty.

Review 100:All the facilities of the hotel - infinity pool, jacuzzi, sun beds were great and gives you great places to lay down with the ocean view... The hotel doesn't have beach but there is an entry to the sea water. Nice place if you want to rest.

Review 101:The service was extreamly slow.breakfast takes half day long. After you check in they do not care about any issues. No mini-bar. EVERYTHING cost extra money.

Review 102:The pool in front of the ocean. The amazing view from the room.

Review 103:The staff, the uncomfortable bed, the mosquitos, the unclean pool, the food was very bed, the hotel located badly far away from center and does not offer solution like a grocery in the hotel.

Review 104:The view is fantastic and that's it. הנוף מדהים אבל זה כל מה שיש למלון העלוב הזה להציע.

Review 105:We had ants in our room so they move us to one of the rooms with the ocean view. Far from center, have to take a 60 peso cab.

Review 106:The view of the ocean. The pool. The jacuzzi. Upgrade and take the room with the ocean view. Nice reasteraunt.

Review 107:snorkeling off the dock, private beach beds, yoga on site, beautiful view, sunset cocktails from room, comfy bed and room facilities, water not in bottles (eco friendly), staff, easy check in checkout, location - not near cruise ships and tons of tourists

Review 108:We had an ant problem in our room...but not a big deal.

Review 109:Loved the appearance of the outdoor areas. There were so many different spaces to relax. Not crowded. Friendly staff. Perfect ocean out front with great snorkelling. Clean crisp rooms. Will definitely stay here and will recommend to others.

Review 110:The hotel attracts a lot of daypass guests who, while we were there, were uniformly loud and unruly 20-somethings who occupied the entire pool area almost the whole day, dove screaming from the jetty and shouted to each other from opposite ends of the hotel. We're not a lot older than they were, but still found them annoying. I would suggest the hotel be a little stricter about noise. The mix of music they play is pretty much the same one every day. It gets on your nerves eventually. I'd prefer no music at all. The hotel is full of microscopic little ants. I suppose it's probably a natural phenomenon that's unavoidable; I'm not sure if they could do anything to prevent it, and I never asked. Nevertheless, it's an annoyance. The hotel is located 4-5 minutes from town by car. Taxis charge about 50-60 pesos per trip, plus tip, so keep this in mind when calculating the total cost of the trip.

Review 111:The hotel is minimalistic and representative of the island in general: Very white, clean, quiet, beautiful. It's a small hotel with only about 40 rooms, so it feels quite intimate. They provide some extras, like yoga classes, massages and a photography workshop, but these packages are not pushed on the guests, and are serious and of high quality. The rooms have solid air-conditioning. The rooms are big, and the ocean view is amazing; sea-facing rooms have a sizeable balcony with comfy reclining chairs. The hotel has two wifi networks, one that works in the front area and the other in the room. Neither network is fantastic, and they sometimes disappear, but this situation was acceptable to us. Don't go here if you need to work off the Internet. The front area of the hotel is divided into multiple mini-areas: There is the restaurant, which is open and faces the sea; then there is the mock beach area (the hotel doesn't have a beach proper), which is divided into two levels, bounded by natural volcanic rock, and outfitted with super comfy four-poster beds with canopies as well as recliners; next to this is a small jetty. Next to the restaurant is an area with acapulco chairs. Next to this is the pool, which is small but very good; it is surrounded by recliners and sun umbrellas, and also has a shallow half for young children. Then there is the bar, which doesn't have seating. Then a wooden, canopied area with hammocks and chairs. Finally there is a lone jacuzzi mounted on a bit of volcanic rock with a single sun chair. (The jacuzzi's interior is painted red, which is a bit awkward; it looks like a pool of blood.)In other words, this division means that you have some flexibility in choosing between different spots depending on what you feel like at the moment. The bar has decent drinks (and they serve the entire front area of the hotel, so it's easy to get anything while you're sunbathing, say).

Review 112:The Wifi only worked in the lobby and restaurant areas. The 2 bikes available for rental are in bad shape. I felt it is not appropriate to charge guests for the use of the bikes, especially if they are not properly maintained. I was also occasionally disturbed by a hum coming from a machine room next to my room. The hotel seems to be very popular with twentysomethings and older guests might feel "crowded out" by these kids.

Review 113:Modern hotel with nice facilities and beautiful sea views. Spacious, clean rooms with small balcony looking out to the sea. Good restaurant, so no need to go downtown for dinner (taxi to downtown costs between 60 and 80 peso depending on the whim of the driver - and they usually "have no change"). Divers who have to leave early in the morning can ask for a breakfast to go.

Review 114:The stay was excellent. Very calm and quite property. Would return soon.

Review 115:The room
