Reviews for Secrets Aura Cozumel All Inclusive - Adults Only
Review 1:We booked a specific room and were excited about that specific room we booked. Upon our arrival we learned that the room we wanted was under construction, together with a big part of the hotel. This was a big disappointment and damage our entire experience. The hotel provided us with an nice upgrade, which was a beautiful gesture that was truly appreciated. That said, the overall experience was disappointing. The hotel should let guests know that there is a major construction happening and should also not sell rooms that are not available. I think Booking.com also has some liability here. They should not offer a room type that does not exist. There is a lot of potential at this property and I see a bright future to this hotel, but changes need to happen!
Review 2:Very friendly staff.
Review 3:Trying to deal with local transportation to/from airport. Would love to see Secrets have their own shuttle service.
Review 4:Entire staff VERY friendly. Restaurants provided excellent variety and quality. Entire resort offered many amenities and many special events to make the stay fun.
Review 5:Main pool closed and constant construction noise. Food was uninspired and bland, especially the pool/bar food. Staff slow with needs other than if you went to main lobby.
Review 6:Mostly friendly staff, some exceptional. Ability to use Sunscape was a plus. Very good drink recommendations/preparations. Pool slide from just outside our room was lovely.
Review 7:The hotel was under construction while we were there, which we weren't aware of when we booked. Therefore, half of the pools and the only jacuzzi were closed, and the grounds were harder to navigate with the main area being worked on. Also, the food was pretty average.
Review 8:Almost all staff members were very nice and helpful. The beach was beautiful, and the rooms were comfortable.
Review 9:They change our reservation to Sunscape Sabor, the other hotel of Secrets company, nice rooms but not the same for the price we pay at Secrets Aura. They treat us very nice and gave some presents like champagne and massages free also snorkel at El Cielo.
Review 10:Nice attentions from all the Staff always an smile on their face.
Review 11:The food was lame. No matter what restaurant we went to it was blah.
Review 12:The staff is amazing and the property is clean and nice. The rooms were the best!! Pools and swim up bars are fun as well as activities
Review 13:The overall quality of the resort was not as it says in pictures. The pictures are over 10 years old, judging by the size of the plants and palm trees. The pool areas are worn down and dirty and the water in the pools are not fresh and cold.
Review 14:The location and the beach.
Review 15:Waitress at the pool was horrible, she gave our hamburger to someone else and we never got one, also never got our drinks, I had to walk to the bar. Buffett was bad, didn't like at all. Like the widows restaurant but there is a table under the lamp with bugs, they sat us there so we left.
Review 16:Love love love the patio with pool access, that was the best, bar right off the pool, access to the beach. Dinner was great at the formal restaurant, also liked the widows restaurant for breakfast.
Review 17:my first room a/c quit 3 times in two days. i requested another room and got one. the first room was the deal of the day.
Review 18:the staff was awesome. the place was very clean. the food was great. I will go back.
Review 19:The pools could have been kept better. They were unprepared for masqito season. The entertainment was a little outdated and boring. We could here our neighbors.
Review 20:The food and staff was excellent!
Review 21:breakfast wasnt the best, unless you were having fresh fruit... but seriously, this is our only complaint. we cannot wait to go back!
Review 22:service was excellent, amazing lunch and dinner, and you could not ask for better views or more to do.
Review 23:Bartenders are not very outgoing or friendly. They are efficient though
Review 24:Food was great. Love the lazy river and decor. Massage and spa area is really nice. The fresh market the day we left was really nice with a fish fry on the beach
Review 25:The city itself had absolutely nothing to offer when compared to other Mexico vacations we've experienced.
Review 26:Staff friendliness and helpfulness was absolutely the best; fun slide from our room to one of main pools; food was just okay - not a lot of choices, but some of the reviews I read ahead as to food said it was awful - that is not so, or at least not from my experience; and, playing bingo and pool volleyball was lots of fun! Would have liked to see something like tequila trivia, rum mixology, beer drinking contest, and a few more games to be enjoyed by all who wanted to participate. Loved this place being Adults Only.
Review 27:The hard sell for services at the start of our stay.
Review 28:Wendy is an excellent hostess, she was always cheerful and helpful and very personalble, Margarito and Antonio were excellent waiters, great sense of humor and very personable
Review 29:Small beach. Way short on pool and beach chairs, umbrellas, tables. Outside service was very slow - not enough staff. Property is old, but typical for Cozumel. This is NOT a luxury hotel but it has the luxury hotel price. Unless you have a really good reason for going to Cozumel, then go to Cancun or Rivriera Maya instead. Same price much much much nicer.
Review 30:Very comfortable room with good a/c and housekeeping. Nice balcony. Room service was prompt. Easy check in/check out.
Review 31:Nothing was extremely pleased.
Review 32:Everything was amazing can't say enough about the staff.. The food was outstanding the drinks were great, the resort was high class just a beautiful place to stay. We had so much fun hope to go back sometime soon
Review 33:Drinks were not consistent and some time Sole beer wasn't available
Review 34:Was her first time to casamel and we love the water and the water sports the hotel made it very easy to access diving in snorkeling and took great care of us
Review 35:If you elect Preferred Status, there is no unlimited premium wine, you pay for it..not as advertised on their website but not unusual for some Secrets resorts. There is a big difference between the older and newer sections of the resort, our first room was unacceptable. Colludes an additional restaurant.
Review 36:Resort proximity to the beach is great. The staff here are terrific, and the newer room are quite nice. The food here is very good.
Review 37:The rooms were ok. Our reservation said shower and bath but only had a shower. Balconies are large but ours only had 2 chairs and a table no hammock or sunning bed like many of the others. Mind you we did book the cheapest room available but it was still pretty expensive.
Review 38:The food and drink was excellent. The service was pretty good.
Review 39:No hard alcohol in mini fridge. And AC not working would have been an issue if we went in Summer but we were there in Winter so not a problem.
Review 40:Almost everything.
Review 41:We were offered to do a "tour" for preferred club membership that included taking $100 (USD) off of our room charges, and was only supposed to take 90 minutes out of our vacation time. When we arrived to schedule it, they then asked for four hours of our vacation time and they wanted all of my credit card information before we even started. To me this was unacceptable, so we left, and the gentleman that was talking with us followed us halfway to our room before finally leaving us alone! To me this is somewhat of a bad business practice, so I thought it should be noted here.
Review 42:We stayed at the private corner pool room, and loved every second of it. The food, the people, the atmosphere were amazing, so we highly recommend this place. Foam party is fun, lobster night, it's simply the best place for your traditional tropical getaway.
Review 43:Food very average...mass produced and average taste. Confusing to navigate around this property.. Large and hard to figure out.
Review 44:Beautiful beach.. But too rocky... Tough to get in stumbled over rocks a lot. Rooms were very nice with a hammock on our balcony. Great Super Bowl party on the beach
Review 45:There was nothing I didn't like!
Review 46:Everything at this resort was great .this was the 1st time I was out of the country so I can't compare it to past expectancies, but I can't think of a single thing to complain about.
Review 47:Restaurants wait staff was a little slower than expected. Breakfast buffet was excellent. Selection of food was good. Wish there was an all day-night pizza and ice-cream. We did order room service twice and that was great.
Review 48:Location is right on the beach. Easy access to swimming, snorkeling, all other water sports. Two Zumba classes you could attend (M-F), gym, and Salsa dance classes. The guys liked playing chess and ping pong. Simply relaxing.
Review 49:One time a restaurant was busy, but we just went to another.
Review 50:I can't afford to go to resorts all the time. This was the first time I've actually been out of the country. With that in consideration, this was the best week of my life! It was also my honeymoon.
Review 51:The problem with many all-inclusives is food and this place would be Exhibit A in support of that statement. Despite the fact there are 5 [or more?] restaurants on the property, they all must have the same executive chef. Appetizers looked and tasted pre-made earlier in the day -- in fact, the mussels were at least 2 and maybe 3 days old -- a crime for shellfish. All restaurants were under-staffed by a factor of at least 2, if not 3. For the price we paid, we expected premium meals, but none of these on-site venues would survive in a competitive environment. Food was uniformly mediocre at best and occasionally not edible. While the website promises premium liquors and wine, you cannot get those without paying an additional fee. Bottles of wine are not available unless you pay an exorbitant additional fee. Room service is very slow and on one occasion non-existant. For two days room service for the entire hotel was staffed by one (1) person -- when that lone person was delivering an order, you had to wait until they returned to the phone before you could order room service -- unimaginably inadequate!
Review 52:Great location, the beach is nice [very few beaches in Cozumel], pools nice, the "party staff" were fun and some of the entertainment, especially the virtuoso guitarist Aaron [Erin?], was quite good.
Review 53:Food was just ok. We ate at all of the restaurants but the menus don't change so it can get very dull. I will say the included room service was great and became our go to by the end of the trip.
Review 54:We spent 11 nights at the Secrets Aura. We upgraded upon arrival to the preferred section of the resort. Our room was ocean view and absolutely amazing. The staff was cordial and definitely upped their game if you were tipping.
Review 55:The gym could maybe do with an upgrade and the spa is too expensive.
Review 56:Great resort on a lovely beach. The pools are also really nice & kept clean. The food was good but more snacks available at the bar etc would be nice. Adrian from the entertainment team is an asset to Secrets & really makes the guests feel welcome. I like that the resort is not too big, its personal & you get to know the other guests.
Review 57:When I booked I said that we were celebrating my partner's birthday. The hotel did not bother to put any amenity in the room. I mean... Is an all-inclusive. Honestly I was just hoping for some kind of acknowledgment. Yet again it was an amazing hotel.
Review 58:The hotel was ok. It is big and a complicated to move around with too many pools and buildings but once you get your spot on the beach... You're in for a treat. Look for Viridiana at the beach. She will look after you like royalty.
Review 59:It seemed like the rooms were a bit dated and actually had to move the first night because of problems with shower. They seemed to lack servers and the quality of service seemed to be substandard at times. There were also not enough covered chairs at the beach areas.
Review 60:The location was great. Nice clean beach. Nice water to go snorkeling at the resort. It was also great to have free access to kayaks and a Hobie sail boat. The food was fairly good quality but lacked some variety. We thought the drinks were very good. We enjoyed the clay tennis court a lot also.
Review 61:Resort was not as luxurious as the other Secrets property we stayed at previously (Silversands in Cancun), fewer restaurants, service was often slow with items/instructions forgotten, often times bars would be left unattended
Review 62:Adults only, met people from all over the US and Canada, beautiful weather and beaches, resort cooked the fish we caught on a fishing charter
Review 63:Very good hotel you have to choose the swim up room it's so nice.. you have a balcony to the pool and slides to the main pool with the bar. so recommended
Review 64:1. paid way too much for the type of accommodation and the overall service received. 2. Called 3 times for room service, all three times the order showed up after almost 1 hr and a half. Incredible. One day had to leave without breakfast because of a tour booked and room service did not show up on time (1.5 hrs wait!!) 3. No hot water in the shower the first day 4. Overall quality of the food very bad. 5. Room very noisy at night 6. After a bit pf rain the hotel was floaded everywhere (towels in front of the doors to stop water getting in). 7. Room floor very slippery with condenced humidity 8. We complained at reception, they promosed the manager would have contacted us before departure. It happened.
Review 65:The beach
Review 66:Not enough food choices in the restaurant, very poor vegetarian options, no buffet for lunch and dinner. Beware the presentation of their "Unlimited" offer which is pushed to any new comer upon arrival. It is supposed to be only 90minutes breakfast included, but it usually takes much longer than that.
Review 67:Good location, very nice beach, the bed is excellent and the seeside view room on the ground floor with access to the beach was amazingly convenient. There are also a few very nice reefs for snorkelling accessible from the beach, but you need to be a good swimmer as they are not very close, and be careful with passing boats. The SPA area is really nice, but very expensive
Review 68:sometimes, the people attending the restaurants wasn't on the best mood
Review 69:the dock, the pool outside the room, the hammock outside the room, the concierge,
Review 70:Went with friends, but it is definately a place for couples. We may have been the only single girls there. Still had a blast though.
Review 71:Gorgeous beach, many restaurant options, 24 room service was amazing, fun activities, beautiful pool, clean room, quiet yet fun, attentive and really nice staff, lots to do.
Review 72:Everytime we went got dinner it was 1-2 hours just to get seated. Buffet at the Market Cafe ok if you get there early, otherwise not well stocked. The staff is doing their best, but overall the restaurants and bars are horribly understaffed. Would return only if they correct this.
Review 73:Pool, staff and location.
Review 74:noisy drunken young adults in the preferred pool stone passage ways were treacherous only liquor in rooms was beer and tequila i drink wine and vodka no possibility of exchanging poor public relations
Review 75:mostly the quiet, the service, the beach
Review 76:We had a great Honeymoon at Secrets! There was a lot to do. I highly recommend the suit with the private pool. The staff was all very pleasant and helpful. The facility was clean and safe. We would definitely return.
Review 77:all the rooms need to be renovated. There's mold in the bathrooms...
Review 78:The food could have been much better. Market place was the best.
Review 79:I loved the resort! The location, the staff, the alcohol choices.
Review 80:Service is some restaurants was slow , food not of a high quality
Review 81:The location , no seaweed
Review 82:The staff is so nice! Great choice of food and drinks, and a lot of activities (the foam party is so amazing!)
Review 83:Food isn't that good, sometimes even cold. And drinks can be too watered down sometimes.
Review 84:The staff is great and the facilities are very enjoyable
Review 85:Average food. Average amenities. Not worth the money.
Review 86:Staff
Review 87:Cleanliness and fiod
Review 88:Everything
Review 89:Water in shower was always cold much like the food
Review 90:Setting was nice
Review 91:Food
Review 92:BRACHETTI
Review 93:Beautiful grounds, a pool to swim up to our room and swim to the pool bar, the hammock in the ocean, food was great.
Review 94:The swim up accommodations are fabulous, ALL of the staff are friendly, helpful, and in good humor
Review 95:The hot water didn't last long
Review 96:The staff was very nice
Review 97:people, rooms (only preferred was ok),
Review 98:the nice staff
Review 99:More night activities
Review 100:The staff from the restaurant s mariana, rosana, allan.Marcos the waiters all the the reception staff concierge front desk, Christina was awesome she helped me book my trip spa was the best,
Review 101:the scale in the bathroom
Review 102:TYhe romantic dinner on the beach, the rose petals in my room. Visits to Margarittaville and Carlos and Jacks Jumping off the peir
Review 103:WiFi was spotty in some areas even in the room. Beach wasn't the nicest in the area, ending up renting a car and went to the clear beaches.
Review 104:Staff friendliness
Review 105:Food was mediocre, staff untrained, setup poor for relaxing(sky bar no chairs), long waiting for everything, seemed many customers were very unhappy. Most evenings 2 to 3 hour waiting for dinners that were tiny and not high quality expected. Difficult to get a cocktail while waiting the hours. Waste of my precious vacation relaxing time. In real life I am a quality director. If I were an investor in this place, I would either train staff or replace management. This resort needs help. Last resort I went to was Raddison Blu in St Maartin.
Review 106:Bed confortable, location, ocean,
Review 107:The beach in front of the resort is amazing! You can snorkel, kayak, sail a Hobie cat or catch a boat for an excursion right off the pier. They also do weddings and private dinners on this gorgeous pier. The staff are so nice and truly want you to enjoy your vacation!
Review 108:We had booked two weeks but left after one week to go to Tulum. There is not enough area activities to fill two weeks, in addition the menus would have become boring in two weeks. One of the reasons we selected Secrets was the adults only and on site fitness centre. The fitness centre is not essentially on site Secrets and often my wife who is very beautiful was bothered by teenager boys from Sun Scapes Resort in the fitness centre.
Review 109:The staff were outstanding. The food at all of the restartaunt venues although small in portion was excellent. We would highly recommend Secrets Aura Cozumel to other couples.
Review 110:WIFI Weak lunches very slow and menu not great.
Review 111:Staff Dinner restaurants swim up room
