Reviews for Guest House Miyakojima
Review 1:It was a little bit far from town but I'm an active person so half an hour on bicycle to the town didn't bother me. I wasn't on holiday in miyako to party ! So it was perfect for my needs!
Review 2:I felt right at home here! I loved the guesthouse! It had such a relaxed feel! The dining/living area was good to meet other travellers! And the kitchen was well equipped!
Review 3:Megumi was so accommodating and great with showing us around the place. Very simple amenities, but it came with everything we needed. It was a little slow, so we actually got our own room :D! Their dog Kotaro is so cute tooo!!
Review 4:Being an animal advocate/ dog walker, it was hard to live there and see a well behaved dog stuck on a short rope All day/night. I changed his water daily. I and other guests walked him. I understand culture differences but I saw dogs with their owners roaming freely. I tried to explain different solutions but language barriers made it impossible. Also I hardly saw him and he was gone at night. There was a disrespectful guest that we could've Really used his support with but we didn't even know where his house is. He admitted to being overwhelmed because his wife was gone til end of May. Hopefully Kotaro's situation is temporary too because he is a sweet little ball of love.
Review 5:Freeing his wonderful dog, Kotaro from his rope, as often as possible. Close to famous and beautiful beach and hotel with amazing food.
Review 6:Owners are very Nice And pretty beach is really close. Scooters for rent are cheap And good. Free bycicles provider You the needed mobility And freedom.
Review 7:It is located super close to one of the famous beach called ' maehama' I can go by bicycle in 15mins. It would be good to have a car there though. There is a lovely cute friendly dog! He is super cute n friendly! I met nice and fun traveler. I joined Christmas party with local people in the guest house. It was a good place to stay in Miyakozima.
Review 8:Bathrooms etc. were a little ghetto, but for the price, who cares. It's clean, that's all that matters.
Review 9:It's obviously not a resort or anything, but if you want an affordable, convenient and laid back atmosphere, this place is for you. It's even got beer on tap. Scooters are available for rent, cheaper than anywhere else on the island. Everything on the island is fairly close to everything else, so location doesn't really matter. They have snorkels and kite surfing stuff you guests to use too. Airport pickup/drop off was cheap and convenient. I recommend this place and will be going back. You can't beat the price and convenience.
Review 10:The owner was willing to help with lot of things and the snorkel stuff is for free to borrow. Which is really helpful. The room was clean and cozy. We would love to be back there again.
Review 11:Very nice little guesthouse with everything you need, from a well equipped kitchen, cosy common living room, beer from the tap on a serve-yourself basis to even fridges in every room! Snorkeling equipment, parasols, beach stuff, as well as bikes (5) and scooters (3) can be used as you like for free. For the scooters you need an international license though and you cannot ride double! While you can access the nearby beaches and also the island Kurima easily by bike, the capital Hirara is already a bit too far. The very nice and helpful owner offers a very good deal (about half the usual price!) for rental cars though with a company in Hirara. The owner picks you up and brings you to the airport for free as well! There is also a supercute dog "guarding" the entrance ^^
Review 12:Clean Friendly and helpful staff/host who speaks good English Free Wifi AIr con Close to Maehama beach Free use of bikes (and scooters I think, international driving permit needed) Free use of snorkelling gear Excellent contacts for scuba and snorkelling tour. This a great way of visiting the beaches if you don't have a car. Drinks (alcoholic and non alcoholic) available to purchase in the house at supermarket price.
Review 13:The staff was very friendly and helpful with hiring a car for us. Place was tidy and clean with plenty of kitchen utilities. Many things are provided for free including snorkels, fins, bicycles. The place is very close to the great sandy beach (5 min drive) and city centre (15 min drive).
Review 14:No restaurant is nearly by.
Review 15:The owners are very nice and helpful. The price for transportation service is reasonable. Free bicycle.
Review 16:The owner/manager and his wife are incredibly sweet! There are also free bicycles and snorkel equipment you can use!
Review 17:-free bike-rental -very good equipped kitchen -clean accomodations -nice guests -pick-up-service from the airport
Review 18:It's a bit far from the city (but close to different beaches)
Review 19:Very friendly staff and free bike rental
Review 20:That I couldn't stay longer!
Review 21:Extremely kind staff, great location, and very foreigner friendly
Review 22:It's a little out of the way of you ding have a car.
Review 23:Megumi was wonderful. The single occupancy room is the way to go!
Review 24:close to Japan's No 1 beach super nice host/ owner very well equipped place
Review 25:- Free bikes, scooter, snorkeling gear, surfing boards etc etc... - 10 min bike from the nicest beach Fully equipped kitchen - Quiet location
Review 26:Sometimes you can hear other guests while in the room.
Review 27:It's nice that they have free bicycles and a kitchen.
Review 28:At first I wasn't comfortable in the bathroom-- but then I sat onthe toilet and it heated up-- and I changed my mind haha. I dont have aninternational license so I was a bit handicapped in places I could go,but three days visiting the beach by bike (and the local grocery store)was perfect for what I needed. The bugs were a bit annoying, but not somuch I couldn't sleep.
Review 29:Airport pickup was arranged even though the owner was at a kite surfingtournament out of town! His friends came by and helped translate for meand his mother who lived there and didnt speak english. The room (dorm)ac was good. The shared spaces were so welcoming and the kitchen fridgehad a "free" shelf to share. They had free bikes and scooterswhich made the trip to the nearby beach really pleasant! The beach wasamazing and totally deserted it felt so private. The guests were helpfuland kind, and shared some cooking with me! I got to try spam and meetgreat people :) it had a great mix of people and a really awesomeatmosphere. I felt like I was on a set for the surfer movie blue crush:d Speaking of movies, the beach is featured in a japanese movie, translated it is called "eyeglasses" but it is a fun watch tounderstand the art of "twilighting". If you want to adventurebeach or relax at the beach it is good!
Review 30:the staff and the people staying there were super friendly, and they picked me up at the airport. one night i mentioned i would like to have yakiniku and everyone came together to prepare it - it was really fun! oh and there is a really cute dog there named Kotaro :-)
Review 31:the manager not really friendly, the place not really clean,my sheets and my pillow not smell fresh and clean.the place not have nothing around, and the city is a little far away (6 or 8 km.)and buses don`t pass often.
Review 32:you can feel free is like big rock house in really country side around only farmer houses not more, very quiet place.and the beach is close to guesthouse.
Review 33:I got lost coming back on the scooter a few times. The route it is on191 is not on most of the maps
Review 34:Many favorites to share:- airport pick-up and drop-off for free!! - owner helped me book my diving school (Mana Factory) and it was fantastic - free use of scooter, bikes, snorkel gear and beach toys - great value for the money - meeting others in the Guest House -
Review 35:Nothing at all!
Review 36:We had an absolutely wonderful holiday here. The guesthouse is basic but has everything you need and more... The staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is very relaxed. We didn't want to leave and are planning our return trip already! I can't recommend this place enough!
Review 37:It's a bit far from the city and the night life scene. So if you want to go out at night, you really need to get a taxi, but other than that, the place was excellent.
Review 38:The guest house is just 5 mins bicycle ride from the best beach in Miyakojima and the owner is a nice guy willing to help in everything he can.
Review 39:The bathroom smelled really bad and someone knocked on my door in the middle of the night. Also, the bikes aren't guaranteed, so you may have to take a taxi to the beach. But it's only about ¥1000 round trip.
Review 40:The Guesthouse was close to the best beach on the island-10 min bike ride. It was also close to a bus station to take you into town. But you do have to be prepared to take taxis unless you rent a car. The owner was really friendly.
Review 41:Amazing little gueshouse, very cozy with a nice owner who picks you up at the airport. The beach is around 10 min by bike. You can get a bike for free at the guesthouse. Great place.
Review 42:No complaints.
Review 43:Shoe-san, the owner was amazing, very kind and helpful and hospitable. His place is set in midst of sugar cane fields and is close to beaches (10 min. walk). He offers free bikes, motorbikes, laundry and use of kitchen so you can make meals or get takeaway sushi from grocery store as there are no restaurants nearby. A real escape! He has a cute friendly dog, too!
Review 44:It was very similar to staying in someone's home which was fine but lacked privacy.
Review 45:It was great to have free access to snorkeling equipment, bicycles and scooters
Review 46:There is not one thing I could think of.
Review 47:We really enjoyed our stay there. We got picked up at the airport and the staff helped us with all our questions and requests (car rental, tips for day trips, good snorkling spots etc). The atmosphere was very relaxed and friendly. Also, there were free bikes, scooters and snorkling equipment for us to use. The kitchen is very well equipped, as well. We would really like to visit the Miyakojima guesthouse again.
