Reviews for Silent Bungalow
Review 1:It is in the nature, so it is clear that there are some bugs and ants around.
Review 2:Great host, great safari. Delicious food and well maintained room. Clean.
Review 3:Great service, safari has been offered for a reasonable price by the friendly host. The accomodation is close to the National Park, off the main road in the jungle (for the last few meters no easy access for non-offroad vehicles). Dinner is offered by the hotel, also good quality and price (and less spicy than anywhere else we have eaten). Optimal place for spending 1-2 nights and exploring the National Park.
Review 4:Nothing!!!!
Review 5:The entire family were delightful. I arrived late and they were happy to help with whatever I needed. Can't wait to come back to visit!!!!
Review 6:The room and lounge area were both immaculate - everything had been cleaned thoroughly for our arrival. Our hosts were very friendly and welcoming, and the food (both breakfast and dinner) were fabulous! Possibly the best dinner I had during my stay in Sri Lanka. The safari was wonderful. We saw many elephants, peacocks, monkeys, eagles, exotic birds, lizards, water buffalo, and a (partially submerged) alligator. I would highly recommend it!
Review 7:The food was really good. We had requested vegetarian meal and the owner prepared a good Sri Lanka vegetarian meal. The people are so kind and the rooms are very spacious with large sit-outs. It was a good stay for us.
Review 8:Hard to say...the hosts were renovating and undergoing building which woke us at 6.30. Site a bit messey but our section was clean.
Review 9:So clean, couldnt wait to shower..bathroom and floors spotless..meals were all gorgeous..best food by far in our 3 week trip.the safari arranged by hosts was the highlight of our holiday.
Review 10:The place was a bit hard to find, and not close to any shops or services, but we were just there for the safari so didn't matter
Review 11:Sudath was a great host and the safari in the park was amazing, so many elephants! 3 hours was long enough. Breakfast & dinner was good & very generous.
Review 12:not so close to the beach (approx. 8 minutes) because of too much water in the lagoon (no shortcut due to rain)
Review 13:Great staff, excellent food, nice garden.
Review 14:Room was a bit dark. Very bad WiFi. Weak fan
Review 15:Very helpful staff. Great traditional cuisine. Free ride back to bus stop. Peaceful location. Safari tour.
Review 16:Location was a bit isolated but if just going for safari then not too much of an issue and can get a tuktuk into main area
Review 17:Friendly staff, tea on arrival, easy safari organisation. Very helpful - dropped us at the bus stop
Review 18:Simply room, but not needed more for one night
Review 19:Nice owners (they picked us on bus station) Amazing food Perfect safari (with lot of stops,no rush, enjoying the nature and lot of animals) for good price (recomend!) Good and silent location (no hotel, they have 3 rooms, but with own space) They prepaired us lunch too (because we didnt maje it) They tooked us to bus station back Clean room with hot water and fan Very good quality for perfect price! Amazing chill out zone :)
Review 20:Our hosts were a delight! We arrived and within 45 minutes set off on a safari to Udawalawe National Park. Amazing guide who showed us many different animals... elephants, monitor lizards, water buffalo, and numerous bird species. The room was spotless, the beds comfortable, and dinner was outstanding! Silent Bungalow is close to the park and run by lovely people. We stayed one night and went on a morning and an evening safari. Be prepared in hot weather... no air conditioning but we were comfortable with a fan.
Review 21:Sudath and his family are excellent hosts. Great deal on the room and safari. Sudath has approx 20 years experience leading tourists through Udawalawe NP and has a great eye for spotting wildlife. Huge breakfast and dinner served at very reasonable prices. He also provides a drop off to the bus stop upon departure. Great, inexpensive way to explore Udawalawe!
Review 22:The hosts were absolutely fantastic and they cooked us the most delicious curry when we arrived. We went in their jeep on a safari which was interesting. Can not fault the service.
Review 23:very nice and clean room, comfortable bed, Sudath and his wife are really nice, provided us with excellent safari and experienced guide - saw a lot of animals
Review 24:The breakfast was delicious and plentiful, and the price unbeatable. I actually paid them double what they were asking for the room. The room/bed/bathroom was clean and insect free.
Review 25:None.
Review 26:Great guy, helped with everything. He also drives the safari jeep and knows a lot about the park and animals. Nice place overall, very pleasant stay. The owner even send for us a jeep to pick us at the bus - even without asking - some guy just let him know, that some strangers are moving to his place and he took care of everything.
Review 27:Some of the best food we have had in Sri Lanka, and an excelent safari. It is cheap and easy, because they have their own safari trucks!! :) the location doesn't matter because there is nothing else to do in the city, and it was easy to find..
Review 28:Basic but super clean and comfortable. Fantastic breakfast and dinner. The host and his family were incredible helpful and made us feel very welcomed. The safari was amazing!!!! I would highly recomend silent bungalows.
Review 29:Very nice location and the people were very friendly. Food was the best I had in Sri Lanka (breakfast and dinner). Also went on safari with Sudath and was good. I would really recommand the place.
Review 30:The cockrell was a little vocal the first morning but following nights was shut in so no more early mornng calls!
Review 31:The owner and his wife could not have done more to help. Arranged safari at a ver reasonable cost. Food excellent and brought to our private patio. Tea and cake on arrival. Taken to bus stop very early in morning for onward travel. Excellent.
Review 32:leaving this place was a bummer.
Review 33:the best place on Sri Lanka, I kid you not! Owner picked us up from the bus stop and took to this perfect desolated sanctuary, run by the nicest family. we stayed in big, clean room with terrace & private sitting area, where we ate the best curry of our holidays. Next day we took the safari with the owner: comfortable car & he is a great spotter. Price for this was ridiculously good. Owner checked for us the bus and took us to the stop, free of charge.
Review 34:The price for safari was fine and not expensive, consisted of tickets that we had to pay at the entrance into NP and the amount for the owner who provided jeep and the guiding service, when we put us together with the another two persons and agreed to go together the owner decided to pay us twice the price what surprised us a lot.
Review 35:Staff was great, smiling all the time and fulfilling our wishes with pleasure. They are really nice. The owner was also our guide during the safari tour, he is very interested in animals and nature and provided to us professional experience with all necesary explanations and had an eagle eye to spot even details hiden in the national park. We were very satisfied with the service. Also what we liked was the bungalow situated in the middle of the jungle with all the noices of a nature arround, could just advice.
Review 36:Safari is very good and the hosts are most kind. Dinner and breakfast are very plentiful and tasty. The terrace of the bungalow is so big you can easily dance on it :)
Review 37:Sudath is the nicest guy. His family gave us such a warm welcome. Amazing Safari, nice dinner und comfy room. If u want to do a safari at unawatuna- go with sudath and stay at his bungalow.
Review 38:Silent Bungalow was one of our favourite stays during our 3 weeks in Sri Lanka. From the huge, clean and comfortable room to the beautiful hospitality of Sudath and his wife (who is an amazing cook! We had the BEST home made Sri Lankan breakfast and dinners here). We also took the 4 hour afternoon safari with Sudath and his son which was simply amazing and great value. Sudath's 19 years in the business and hawk eye ensured that we saw lots of wildlife from elephants (LOTS of them and their babies) to buffalo, tortoise, snakes, crocodiles, birds, monkeys and spotted deer. Silent Bungalow is not within walking distance of the small town/ main road so unless you want to take a Tuk Tuk (Sudath happily takes you to and from town anyway), your only dinner option is at the guesthouse. But believe me you don't want to miss out on having dinner there anyway - its very reasonably priced (around 6AUD p/p) and the portion sizes are huge! I cannot recommend Sudath Safari's and Silent Bungalow highly enough. The highlight of our time in Sri Lanka. Thank you for gifting us with such an incredible and memorable experience.
Review 39:The noisies of the animals at Night. No wify in room. There are nothing else to do around (No bars, no life)
Review 40:Good located if you want to go to Udawalawe Park. When the owner recieved us, he gave us Tea, fruits, and sweet things. The rooms have terrace and you can enjoy with the jungle. the bedroom is simple enought to sleep and have a shower. Dinner was soooo good, and breakfast incredible, the best in Sri Lanka.
Review 41:Great place to stay. The owner picked us up from the bus station and took us there when we had to leave. The breakfast and dinner were the best in sri lanka!
Review 42:Nothing
Review 43:Sudath and his wife were the perfect hosts. the dinner and breakfasts were yummy and generous. The rooms were very good and clean with a lovely patio to chill on. sudaths Safari was excellent, he was knowledgable and not rushing through. We arrived after a long bus ride, he kindly drove us to town and back for lunch at no charge.
Review 44:Very nice host family who arranged pick up and drop off service from/to the bus stop upon arrival/when leaving. We did the safari tour with them and had a great afternoon! Delicious home cooked dinner (probably the best curry we had on our trip). Highly recommend this place!
Review 45:Kind Sudath and his family take real good care of you. Very clean room with your own terrace. Meals are delicious and come in serious quantities. Very good value for money.
Review 46:-wonderful and extremly friendly house-owners -local, cheap-priced dinner of high quality (best we had in Lanka) -welcome- and afternoon-tea for free -enormous breakfast -incredible 4 hours-safari with reasonable price (50 elefants, crocodils, eagles and many more) -calm tropic garden
Review 47:The room that does not have a proper window didn't really cool down at night.
Review 48:Sudath and his wife are very friendly and offer safaris at a good rate. We saw more than on other safaris because Sudath took his time and turned the motor off, when there was something worth seeing. Breakfast and dinner were fantastic, the best we had in the three weeks in Sri Lanka. Thank you so much!!! We walked to the Elephant Orphanage and back because it is not too far.
Review 49:Both our rooms were very warm at night. (New room looks very good and is not so warm.) Only cold shower but no problem for us.
Review 50:We were quickly picked up after our arrival at the policestation of Uda Walawe. We had 2 rooms, living room and terrace for ourselves. Fantastic dinner and breakfast! Wifi was fine (switch on yourself). Sudath advised us to do safari in the afternoon in stead of morning which was excellent!!! We saw 100+ elephants, crocodiles, deer, monkeys, waterbuffalos and much more. Rooms, dinner, safari were all very reasonable priced.
Review 51:The fan of the room was not working properly.
Review 52:Great value for money, the cleanest room we've been in Sri Lanka. The arranged tour also nice. They picked us up from the bus stop. The breakfast after the safari was great.
Review 53:no negative items
Review 54:The best accommodation in Sri Lanka based on location, excellent service, very friendly staff and high quality of owner during our safari (4 hours jeep per 4.000 Rs). We saw many elephants, birds and other kind of fauna. The best dinner and breakfast when we are in Sri Lanka. You must try it. Sudath, thanks a lot!
Review 55:In the surrounding area there is not much to see besides the park.
Review 56:We only stayed for one night, but had a really good time! You will feel at home at this home stay. Dinner was excellent. Especially after a long morning safari, our breakfast was like we hoped for. :-) The room was newish, spacious and clean. The second room is almost finished. The park is only a 15 minutes drive and perhaps most important, Sudath knows the park inside out after working as a guide for a long time. He keeps looking for wildlife from beginning to end. We highly recommend this place!
Review 57:Very nice people. Owner Sudath drove us to a wonderful place to swim. His wife cooked a wonderful dinner. The house was very clean. There was an extra sittingroom. in front of the rooms and we could sit out on the porch. Owner does safari's himself for a very good price. (around 21 euro for an afternoon safari for 4 people, Entry National Park Uda Walawe costs around 70 euro for 4 people) We saw many elephants!
Review 58:One room had no windows so it got really hot at night.
Review 59:Perfect location if you look for a quiet accomodation with excellent food and really helpful and friendly staff. The owner offered a really good safari tour with extra time for finding crocodiles, monkeys, birds and water buffalos. The food was the best SriLankan food we had in all of our trip!!!!
Review 60:Very friendly staff of the guesthouse. They picked us up from the busstop and welcomed us with thee and cookies. Dinner is made by the housewife and so delicious!! Also breakfast is great. The owner of the guesthouse does the safari by himself. He is very enthusiast and it is a fair price.
Review 61:The city was not nearby.
Review 62:The breakfast and dinner was fantastic. The owner offered us a safari for good price and did his best to have the best view of the animals. When we left he brings us for free to the busstation.
Review 63:We had a not so silent night in the bungalow with dogs, chickens and cats in the garden. The location was a bit hard to find.
Review 64:We stayed in silent bungalow for 1 night to go to the uduwalawe national park. The rooms are basic, they're currently building new ones which look great. Probably the friendliest owners we had in sri lanka, the host took us on a safari for a reasonable price. He has 19 years experience in the wildpark which really pays off. Try the food when you're there, its great!
Review 65:absolutely nothing
Review 66:We booked Sudath's place for one night but after ten minutes of our arrival we immediately decided to stay one more night. Sudath welcomed us with cups of tea and cakes and made us feel comfortable. His wife is cooking great, she prepared us two breakfasts and two dinners which were super delicious. She really pushed the limits, now we compare everything with hers and we dont like anything else. The room , bathroom and garden everywhere is super clean, Sudath is really taking care of everything. He arranged us safari also, his guy took us to Udawalawe National Park early in the morning with his jeep, we had 4 hours of safari, he tried really hard to show us some animals and at the end we saw a big family of elephants with two babies, we were really close to them. All in all Sudath's place, his hospitality and his great smile made us relaxed and happy, I definetly recommend this place, it is the best place we stayed in Sri Lanka, you will not regret !!!
Review 67:Very loud ceiling fan affected sleep quality. Location is quite far from 'town', isolated and hidden away, so apart from the safari there's nowhere else to go unless you have your own transport.
Review 68:Very friendly and helpful owners, excellent safari. Location perfect for one-night stay with safari.
Review 69:its quite a bit off the main road (perfect place to relax for an afternoon, particularly if you do not want to see a single human being)
Review 70:amazing family, one of the best dinners in the country, safari guide as host, awesome breakfast, very friendly/helpful, huge room with big terrace
Review 71:The hosts were great, they took us on safari for a really good price for just the 2 of us in a luxury Jeep. We had wifi in our room which was great. Food was delicious too with lots of little dishes!
Review 72:Not the easiest to find the place, but local people helped us, so finally it wasn't a problem.
Review 73:Silent Bungalow is clean, nice and comfortable. We really liked the terrace which is perfect for the delicious dinner and breakfast that is available there. Sudath and his wife are great hosts and nice people. They can answer all your practical questions. Sudath also helped us to get to our next destination, Embilipitiya because he had some private business there. Don't look for another way to do the safari, Sudath is a great guide, and the safari was perfect, and not expensive at all. Great value for money! Thanks, András
Review 74:the owner is very nice and helpful the safari we booked via the guesthouse was great and i highly recommend the dinner at silent bungalow great value for money
Review 75:Very good breakfast (380 Rs) and dinner (500 Rs). You feel there like in a real jungle. Close to elephants transit house (about 25 minutes on foot). Safari was organised immediately after our arrival. They pick you up from the bus stop if you tell the men with jeeps standing there where you are going. After check-out they also deliver you to the bus stop.
Review 76:Nothing to do within walking distance of the guest house (so good for escaping and relaxing in a jungle setting) Difficult to find. If you are going down a dirt track in the middle of nowhere and think you're lost, then you're probably in the right direction!
Review 77:Incredible food - one of the best meals I've had in my life Brand new room, well equipped and in an excellent condition Very attentive host - brought me tea, biscuits and fruit on arrival Arranged the safari for me - it was ok. Nice patio area for reading a book, relaxing and drinking Sri Lankan tea!
Review 78:The room gets a bit hot during the day but it's no major issue
Review 79:Sudath was very kind, welcoming and friendly. He and his family made us feel completely at home - even bringing us afternoon tea each day (free) and even going to the shop to buy us some beer as he had none in! He took us on a safari of Udawalwe and he was an awesome guide! He took us away from the crowds and we saw about 50+ wild elephants! He was very knowledgable of all the animals around the park and great at spotting them too! The food was amazing - the best curry we've had in Sri Lanka and the breakfast was so good too and you get so much of it! He and his family always greet you with a smile. He even took us free of charge to the elephant transit home and waited for us and brought us back and took us into the town to get money out of the ATM too - all for free.
Review 80:A little far out from the village/town and not signposted so difficult to find.
Review 81:spacious accomodation, fantastic homemade dinner and breakfast, friendly host, lovely garden and patio to chill.
Review 82:The room was not quite as described on the website, no garden view and in fact no window but not a problem for one night.
Review 83:Room with a fan, private bathroom and a super comfortable bed, friendly host who can organise a safari. Excellent food and nice little area to sit outdoors. Basic accommodation but clean and very good value for money. Order the breakfast as it's delicious.
Review 84:Only little things need to be improved, it was a nearly perfect stay and best value for money!
Review 85:The terrace of the new building is so pieceful! Good place to relax and hang around! Very nice safari-trip with the host! Nice big cosy bed with good moskito-net!
Review 86:- amazing nice and friendly hostfamily. - quite location. - really comfortable and clean rooms. - great breakfast and homemade diner. - close to National Park - you can start directly from hostel to safari, the owner has own jeeps and he is a great guide Thanks for the great time !!!
Review 87:Warmest welcome in Sri Lanka. Sudath is an excellent Safari guide, he sees everything ! We were picked up at the bus stop on arrival and dropped off on departure. His wife makes delicious and plentiful meals. They made our stay unforgettable !
Review 88:Nothing!
Review 89:Excellent welcome ! They came to pick us at the bus station with the jeep. tea when we arrive And best curry we had in Sri Lanka ! They arranged easily and for cheap our safari in the morning - awesome!!! the accommodation is nice, big and very clean, really a good deal for the price. the breakfast was really good too. definitively à good place to stay in uda walawe!
Review 90:It is far from everything but the park.
Review 91:Big room with an even bigger terrace. Nice and clean. The owner is also a safari guide, and he really knows where to find the animals in the park. They served the best breakfast we had during our stay in Sri Lanka
Review 92:Wi fi is not very fast and does not work all the time but for one night, it does not really matter.
Review 93:The owners are so, so nice. They offered us cake and tea at arrival. The owner can organize the safari as well at very reasonable prices. He is also very passionate and takes his time during the safari. He is not in a hurry, which makes a difference. The breakfast and the dinner were absolutely delicious. Plenty of food and very, very tasty. Highly recommended.
Review 94:The location is perfect to visit udawalawe national park. Lovely family and great food. The owner will organize the safari as soon as you check in for a really good price. the breakfast was great and the dinner we had even better!
Review 95:A bit noisy if you have the room facing the street as the tuk tuks start driving at around 6am!
Review 96:Very accommodating hosts, made breakfast for us event that we didn't ask for it! Thank you and wish you all the best with your bed & breakfast.
Review 97:far from everything, but not really negative from our point of view, as we didn't need anything :-)
Review 98:+ extremely friendly staff + our host met us (only by luck) at the bus stop when we arrived and took us home by car, then took us to the bus when we were leaving - even further to the bus starting location, so he could show us the bus and we could sit inside "in peace" :-) He was really like father to us! (Also waved us from the street when the bus was leaving the city:) + excellent dinner and excellent breakfast, both for good price + very nice safari, where our host was driving. Comparing to our experience in Yala, this was completely different (positively meaning). We saw many animals, there were not too many other jeeps around, we were more then 4,5h on previously settled 4 hours tour (and originally 3h offered in the mail, raised after there were 4 of us and not 2) + calm and nice surroundings + hot water, big room, big and comfortable bed + nice big sitting area outside the room, very comfortable + very clean (our cleanest place in Sri Lanka)
Review 99:The wifi hardly worked, as we were only there for a couple of days this wasn't really an issue.
Review 100:The hosts were very friendly and welcoming, we loved the home cooked sri lankan dinner out on the veranda. We took the silent bungalow jeep safari to Udawalawe with the 4 other guests staying at silent bungalow, it was great value for money and our host was an excellent guide! We were also given a lift to the bus stop when we left and helped with advice on how to get to Tangalle.
Review 101:There is a small hole between two rooms, so you are little bit connected with the guests in second room :-)
Review 102:Really nice guesthouse, the owner and his wife do a great job. Safari with them was perfect and not expensive, the cuisine (dinner and breakfast after safari) were so delicious! If you want to go to safari, go to this guesthouse. At the top of that, the ower helped to find an accomodation for our friends (his one was already full) and they could go to safari with us next morning. He gave us also free lift for free few times. It is a really nice person.
Review 103:We wanted a perfect getaway for a safari in Uda Walawe and we got it! Owner runs safari business so you can arrange everything with him. Otherwise this is a cozy and warm guesthouse, where you will be treated really nice. Whole family is really kind. Would definitely stay here again!
Review 104:We came here especially as we had read past reviews of sudath's safari. It was a really good experience we saw plenty of wildlife and off course elephants. The food was really good and the beakfast huge! Really friendly family. We were in the new part and the room was really big and clean with comfy bed.
Review 105:Great place to stay and do a safari in Udawalawa!!! The owner was such a fantastic guide and driver and his wife is an amazing chef - you have to try the food!!!
Review 106:Just a tiny suggestion: dark curtains would be better so noone can look inside. Matresses could be a little thicker but are still according to guest house average.
Review 107:Extremely friendly and attentive and helpful owner. Spotless rooms Fast wifi Superb meals (delicious curries, many veggies and fruit) Cheap offer for interesting Safari, the owner is a great spotter and takes his time to point out the diversity of udawalawe wildlife extending the Tour for an additional hour
Review 108:Cosy little guesthouse in Udawalawe. Location is good and very peaceful. The meals were among the best of my entire trip in Sri Lanka. Safari was excellent with a best possible guide, Sudath, the host of Silent Bungalow. Room was comfortable and everyone super friendly. Price/quality ratio is unbeatable.
Review 109:Nothing.
Review 110:The owner is also a safari guide,he took us to park and showed us all the wildlife the park has to offer. His wife cooked us delicious dinner and breakfast the next morning. We stayed in new bungalow they opened just recently. The room was spatious and bed was even better than we have at home:) It was very comfortable. On departure they drove us to bus station.
Review 111:Warm family welcome to rural bungalow a short drive from the national park. Clean room and very comfortable bed. No a/c but fan was fine. Delicious 7course curry for dinner and huge Sri Lankan breakfast after a great safari. Go there!
Review 112:It's a beautifully quiet setting with just jungle sounds. The owners were very friendly and helpful. They arranged a three-hour jungle safari for us which took in herds of elephant and water buffalo as well as the odd crocodile and many types of bird including wild peacocks. Their food was the best we had experienced in Sri Lanka - good quality and very plentiful. We were the third people to stay in their brand new annexe which was very comfortable. We were glad to have stayed two nights as there is also the excellent elephant orphanage to visit, 15 minutes walk away.
Review 113:Set in a beautiful garden, the guesthouse was clean and the owners were friendly. Room had everything you needed. Rice and curry dinner was delicious and great value for 500pp. Sudath was an amazing guide at the Udawalawe NP. Highly recommended.
Review 114:They switched off the wifi router, therefore we couldn't use it. The water heater for the shower was also switched off and we couldn't turn it on from our room, had to have cold shower.
Review 115:Excellent if you want to do a safari, best prices ever. We had a lovely welcome tea with cookies.
Review 116:Room and bath were clean and comfortable. The sri lanken meal was amazing - dinner as well as breakfast. Host works as safari guide as well and we are sure he is the best :-) Thanks for the great experience!
