Reviews for Kusatsu Onsen Hotel Village

Review 1:So much hassle to get into the Kusatsu town. We have to take the shuttle bus. It's much easier if you speak Japanese and have local number. Otherwise, you just have to rely on their timetable to drop off and pick you up. Toilet is extra small.

Review 2:Staff are super friendly - hotel village has an amazing mountain view in the background.

Review 3:No breakfast include. The bldg.was old .The open onsen only in the main bldg.and was very small without any view. No services provide.

Review 4:Room size acceptable.

Review 5:They gave us rooms near the hotel which are actually really small apartment rooms. The villa rooms were very very small and bathroom was pathetic. Please book this hotel only if you are getting rooms in the hotel itself.

Review 6:The staff was nice and they had free bus shuttle from hotel to city and back.

Review 7:The beds were extremely firm.

Review 8:Great location for skiing. Close to natural hot springs. Free transportation to ski slopes and town. Hotel offers a lot of activities especially for adults and children. Food was excellent. Rooms were very spacious.

Review 9:The place is too big and very confusing to navigate inside the resort. At night the lighting is not so many so if you drive you could miss the entrance.

Review 10:The dinner and onsen

Review 11:The hotel itself felt busy and crowded, even for Sunday night. There were queues for dinner in the two restaurants (~30 min), so we just drove to the town center (~5 min drive, ~15-20 min walk) and ate there instead. It is a big resort hotel with entertainment options (karaoke bar, arcade games, golf, bowling etc.), so is not a relaxing getaway if you're staying in the main hotel. (I'd recommend the log cabin as being quieter)

Review 12:The cottage / log cabin was great - warm, cosy, in a pretty forest setting, separated from the crowded hotel. It's ~15 min walk from the hotel, or a short 5-min drive / shuttle bus. Onsen in the hotel was fine - there is one main bathing area for each sex, with indoor and outdoor sections, and a separate smaller bathing option.

Review 13:Staff very friendly, but we stay in wing apartment other than main building. No telephone set in room, poor old furniture and almost no staff at wing building a night . Onsen is good at main building but no good at wing building, u have to walk 10 mins in chilly windy condition to get to main building. Not recommed for priced paid.

Review 14:Staff very friendly

Review 15:We liked very much our room after upgrade - we ended up in spacious wooden villa located in forest. We highly recommend to stay in ログコテージ part of the hotel. Breakfast has varied choice - from traditional japanese to european. Big hot spring facility - we enjoyed it a lot!

Review 16:There was a big spider in the room.. I didn't get a chance to take a pic 'coz I panicked and killed it.

Review 17:I really liked the room! We stayed at the Villa so we were far from the Hotel but we'll definitely come back and stay at the hotel next time. But the Ofuro in the Villa was nice! Not a lot of people..

Review 18:The location of the chalet from the main hotel. I didn't realize the chalet is not at the hotel but a 5 min drive away. There is no reception or wifi and we felt cut off from the main facilities

Review 19:The onsen in the main hotel area. Heaps of toiletries in the women's section

Review 20:There is no wifi in Vila area, no body help you deal with the bed, no english sign in that area as well.

Review 21:The hotel itself is a good place to have pleasure, shuttle bus is also very convenient.

Review 22:They lock the doors to the building at 10pm. If you return late you have to call the front desk to let you in.

Review 23:The villa is a 5 minute walk from the main hotel. Most of the units are for long term renters. Get a nice room with a kitchenette for a reasonable amount of money.

Review 24:The resort has seen better days. Really need a place where guests can have coffee/beer between 5-8pm.

Review 25:Friendly staff, lots to do, good shuttle service to/from center of Kusatsu Onsen. Comfortable beds. Very reasonable.

Review 26:sofa in the room has stains. Hotel is old & some renovations are needed.

Review 27:Staff are very friendly & helpful. Room is big with good view. Reasonable price

Review 28:I recommend the check of some older appliances (but they are still working, this is not a big problem).

Review 29:location, late check out, sport facilities, organized morning walking tour in the nearby forest, good food, polite staff
