Review 4：The ambiance, staff, and breakfast was very nice. Furthermore, the location of the hotel is ideal. Short 5min walk from the train station/bus transfer to the airport and all the main attractions are nearby.

Review 5：The wifi is very very poor. I can not search the signal in my room, i ask the staff to check and if it is impossible please give me a Router. They checked and found that is true. There is no signal, they just asked me to go downstair to connect the WIFI. But when i go back to my room, still no WIFI!! What's more the attitude of the staff are poor. One more, the types of breakfast are very little.POOR VAULE OF MONEY

Review 7：Superb location. Central location for sight seeing, shopping and train travel. A very good breakfast choice both hot and cold. Room and bathroom size are adequately large allowing for a stay longer than a weekend. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 8：One member of the reception staff was quite rude and less than helpful when I needed to get our boarding passes printed – but she was probably just harassed and busy. It was a shame, though, because up until then we had been seriously impressed by everyone.

Review 9：Almost all the reception staff were completely wonderful and extremely friendly and helpful. All the chambermaids and breakfast staff were wonderful. The location was perfect and overall we were very happy.

The staff at reception were definitely first class always helpful with advice, courteous and cheerful and went that extra step to make our stay very memorable. Review 14：This is a really excellent hotel, facing the splendour of Santa Maria Novella church and close to the central sights and good restaurants, yet less than 10 minutes walk from the station. The rooms and bathrooms were spacious and beautifully decorated. The breakfast was plentiful with large choice and hot items. The stylish staff did not just recommend good restaurants but telephoned to make a reservation.

The breakfasts were wonderful and the rooms and marble bathrooms were beautiful. We had a delay in getting out of the city and they very graciously let us keep our luggage at the hotel for a few extra hours. I would recommend this hotel for anyone staying in Firenze.

Review 35：We booked a superior double room. On arrival they asked if we would like to pay extra for a better room. They showed us the room, and we were horrified. It was as far down into the bowels of the hotel as you could get. it was dark and pokey. All I could think of was, in case of fire you would never be able to find your way out. Of course we paid extra. But we feel we were conned . . especially when the very next hotel we went to (in Venice) pulled the same trick. The room we were shown could not have been a "superior Double". We had to pay $E30.00 each per night (2)....a lot extra for us! ($NZ240.00 extra!)

Review 37：I have booked two sglb rooms for 2 nights and our plan was to spend nice time in Florence as it was my bday. As a "special gift" I was "awarded" with tiny, dark room with chimney, ac exhaust and drainage pipe view. Despite my plea and being ready to pay an extra for better room (incl dblb) nothing was offered to me. When I booked sglb rooms I saw pictures of sglb rooms on booking.com and they looked absolutely different. I made many bookings through yr website and this situation happened to me first time. Btw ther was even no appology from the management of the hotel. I was told they are full.

They gave some reason about the heating having been switched off for the 'summer', but it clearly didn't feel like 'summer'. Terrible experience. Would not recommend this hotel to others. Staff was fine and tried to be helpful.

It is so rare to come across these type of hotels that reflect the grand scale at which Hotels used to operate back in the day. A must experience.

Review 54：The hotel had shut off its air conditioning entirely for the winter, so the rooms were very hot and stuffy at night. There was no air circulation. Opening the window is simply not an option - ambulances screaming by at all hours, cars and mopeds revving their engines, church bells going off on the hour, etc. makes sleeping impossible. Also it is probably common knowledge but new to us - the water in the toilet is not the freshwater they use for the sink / shower so a strong bleach or cleaning odor comes in the bathroom every time you flush. It goes away after a few minutes.

Review 55：This hotel's location is ideal since a lot of attractions are near Santa Maria Novella square. However the hotel was nearly impossible to find for those new to the city, especially at night - we had to wander around for 30 minutes asking where it was located. They really need a big bright sign and clear directions. The amenities are a great value for the money and the staff is remarkably helpful, with rental cars, planning and restaurant recommendations. The breakfast is great for the EU - nice to fill up and hold your appetite thru the day.

Review 56：Nothing but a small plaque next to the door identified the hotel and it was a little difficult to find. Our room was located directly above an Irish Bar that was a bit noisy late in the evenings. However, we had a great view of the church and the entire piazza.

Should have at least 3-4 machines for muscular training, more hantels with weight up to 28 kg, as there is enough space to place them. Review 68：The room we had was split level - the bathroom, mini bar and sofa/lounge was on the ground floor, the wardrobe, safe and storage space was mid- stair case and then the bedroom was up a hefty flight of stairs. Unfortunately the unconventional layout meant that our stay was a little uncomfortable and also, the hairdryer could not be plugged into the bathroom socket and there were no other mirrors in the entire room. It was a shame as the hotel was lovely but it felt like management had never thought through the use and functionality of the room.

Review 72：One thing is the shower. The water is too strong and the tub has only a weak shower curtain that everytime we shower we got water everywhere in bathroom. The other is the sound proof. We were really glad that we got the balcony room that had a great view to the santa marialla novella piazza, but it turned out that at night the bar down there have very loud live music that didnt stop until 2 or 3 oclock in the morning. And we could hear people next door moaning and screaming oh my god for one hour and apparently they were having a wonderful night. For us, its good to know they were really having fun, but it was really annoying for us to sleep in that high frequency melodies.
