Reviews for Trinco Blu by Cinnamon
Review 1:Worst buffet in any hotel I have ever stayed in. Every time we ordered food we had to send it back as it was cold. Service was poor. Food and drink were well over priced. Rooms were basic. Definitely would not recommend this hotel, it was a complete waste of money.
Review 2:location
Review 3:The location on the beach is great. But the hotel is not close to trincomalee itself you have to take transport to get there. The additional seafood restaurant was great, quiet, on the beach and ala carte. After a few weeks in Sri Lanka we were very bored of buffet food and the noisy busy buffet restaurants!
Review 4:Rooms are too small compared to other hotels with same category.
Review 5:Staff is very friendly with guests and very helpful for guest requests. Foods have not much variety but delicious. Hotel is located near to the sea and have nice environment.
Review 6:Room is small.
Review 7:Food was delicious. Very close to the beach. The room that we were allocated was renovated and we wanted to change the room due to the paint smell. We got a new room without any troubles after informing the issue. Staff was very friendly with a nice smile.
Review 8:Food lets you down a bit. It is good food overall - just difficult to satisfy each palate so lots of Sri Lankan and East Asian options. Not as much for the Western palate and the taste of what was available was fine but not great for the overall quality of hotel. Also, just check into the difference between the normal rooms and bungalows. Bungalows were lovely and seem worth it, but in terms of proximity to beach, other rooms are nearly as close to the beach, face the sea and are much cheaper. Not sure about decor but could be just fine.
Review 9:Superb beach location, with all rooms steps from the beach. This beach area is up and coming so still quiet but increasing in activity. Soft sand and wide beach. Decor (in the bungalows) fresh, new and yet still a great Sri Lankan beach feel. There are still fishermen who pull their nets in on the beach each morning so there is a feel of the local culture here as well.
Review 10:A bit lonely as a solo traveller. Most people there are families and honeymoon couples. Rooms are nice but nothing exceptional - same as any chain hotel.
Review 11:The location and view are fantastic. You walk in and are confronted with a beautiful view of the pool leading into the ocean. The staff of the water sports center and very friendly and flexible. The buffets are delicious and not completely outrageously priced!
Review 12:Wifi was a bit slow and sometimes stopped working altogether. Expect better wifi for hotel of this standard.
Review 13:Rooms done very nicely, and fitted with beach theme, with all amenities you could want. Room looked onto the pool and beach. Crab restaurant did amazing seafood - especially the prawn curry. Staff all very friendly and gave tips on what was good to do. Went diving with the hotel and the dive master was very professional, helpful and friendly. Had a great time.
Review 14:Room smelled like sewage. Room upkeep poor. Food at crab restaurant awful. Crows everywhere and loud early in the morning.
Review 15:Location was great. Pool nice.
Review 16:82$ per night is a lot, but it's worth it if you are stressed after traveling! The food in the restaurant is expensive so we went outside and found a lot of small restaurants... But really... There's nothing to complain about! Great hotel :)
Review 17:We had a perfect stay at chayaa blue... After backpacking 2 weeks that's the perfect place to rest. The breakfast-buffet was awesome, the rooms were clean and well designed (all with sea view) and there was acceptable wifi even at some areas of the beach (good wifi is not usual in SL). All together we had a great time!
Review 18:Had a pretty poor salad from The Crab restaurant but they did not charge for it in the end in all fairness.
Review 19:Great accommodation, nice pool, right on the beach, good bar and restaurant choices. Staff were amazing and very hospitable.
Review 20:During our stay I and my daughter go to swim pool.we are muslin so we wear fullswim dress like three quarter, but pool guy not allowed us to swim then I make complain to reception guy he also not care us.
Review 21:Services in the hotel are expensive but you can contract outside in very close places. Food is not very good. Price is expensive.
Review 22:Great location. Perfect place to go with kids. Rooms very confortable and clean. WIFI in all the hotel and even the beach.
Review 23:Bar/restaurant service was a bit slow but it's ok, we're on holidays :) It's a bit tricky that they add all the taxes on top of what you think you'll pay via the booking.com website. €70 per night became $90.
Review 24:Excellent clean hotel, comfortable rooms with great beds, modern bathroom, great clean pool with beautiful garden and a nice beach that's guarded at night.
Review 25:Not a bad experience but the crab shack took along time to bring drinks, I thought people taking claim to sun chairs with their towels draped over, then not get to them till mid afternoon was a bit naff. Take old flip flops to go down to the sea as sand and boardwalk can be hot.
Review 26:This place was great, a real beach resort, lots of water toys to keep you busy if your into that, the pool was clean, (warm) and the sea you could walk straight in. The staff at the front desk were very helpful. The breakfast was amazing .
Review 27:Our room was in the corner and it had a door between our room and the other room next to us. And we got 2 complains saying we are loud and we need to reduce the volume. But im prety sure we were not loud and even our television volume was at its 20. It was me and my girlfriend just talking. It totally killed our good mood. We had to go to sleep around 11pm because reception was keep calling and complaining we ware loud. Please do not let people stay in the that 120 room and kill their happy moment or build a wall between those rooms and make it sound proof.
Review 28:Most interactions with staff were highly positive and pleasant, there were a couple of encounters that were disagreeable, but they just required a bit of patience and were resolved okay.
Review 29:We came late in the season with $70(US) nightly rate from booking.com and were given a room upgrade! For that price it was an amazing stay. For normal rates over twice that amount I would not be interested. The room was clean and modern and comfortable with mini-fridge, free coffee, toiletries. The pool is very big and very nice: great for days when the ocean is a bit windy and choppy. The food was quite good, and reasonably priced. I was expecting a big markup, but it was not much more than many local meals we have had. Staff were kind and helpful (see dislikes)
Review 30:Superior rooms are small and the bathrooms, tiny. Beds are not very comfortable. No air conditioned common areas and lots of flies in the eating areas.
Review 31:Good location, close to town as well. Nice beach.
Review 32:Bathroom didn't feel fresh. Rooms and bathroom tiny and felt claustrophic. Terible hotel for the price that booking.com charges. Service takes ages. Extremely dissatified.
Review 33:Superior Rooms are very poor. Nothing better than a 2 or 3 star.
Review 34:It's really too expensive. If you don't read the small letter, you don't know that, on the contrary of other hotels, taxes are not included in the price, and the amount (that was already hight) increases a 25% (that is extremely hight for value).
Review 35:The location.
Review 36:VERY slow service (that includes waiting for towels at pool, waiting for food/drinks at bar/restaurant, and check out took ages which is a shame for such an incredible resort) 3 days without hot water
Review 37:Amazing resort Nice and friendly staff Great beach Brilliant to have Wifi at the beach Big pool Comfortable bed Good breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffet Local animals are respected (cats and dogs)
Review 38:The dinner is a little bit expensive.
Review 39:The room was very confortable and clean. The swimming pool is very nice. The breakfast is very good and delicious.
Review 40:Apart from the wonderful water sports team we had no idea about any other activities on. One day we came across a yoga class, it would have been nice to know it was on. There wasn't a room service menu or hotel guide in either room. Management need to do something about the dogs roaming the hotel....the poor towel guy can't keep up and he shouldn't have to keep trying to deter them. The crows wake you in the morning and the dog fights keep you awake all night. It would be a really great hotel if they could control the animals and let you know the activities you can do. The pool also went green while we were there.
Review 41:This hotel is very big, the rooms are spacious and had everything we needed, I loved sitting out on the balcony in the afternoon and loved the tap to wash my feet off at the bottom of the stairs. The beds are comfy, internet is good and the breakfast was really good. The hotel rooms are very good and the staff are lovely.
Review 42:A little expensive for sri lanka but it was worth it. Over all its the best hotel to stay in this areas. Good nature
Review 43:Great location. Very nice staff. We took a beach villa it was wonderful.
Review 44:This hotel is very expensive if you travel with kids. They charged extra 45 USD per kid for the same double room booked via booking.com. I think this is the most expensive hotel I ever had in Sri lanka. Even if you compare to other big chains as Hilton, Mariott in Europe this is very expensive. And food is also expensive. You should check the price with hotel management before you book at booking.com. I am very disappointed.
Review 45:Well maintained hotel. close to beach. Good restaurant and helpful & friendly staff at restaurant. Nice pool.
Review 46:Wifi dropped out quite a lot.
Review 47:Wonderful location. Definitely go for the beach bungalows, they have lovely patios onto the beach. Pigeon island tour was great and very good value. The guide was great!
Review 48:In our time in Sri Lanka, we stayed in about 8 hotels. Chaaya Blue had the longest check-in and check-out of any. It took a good 30 minutes. Some of the in-house services like snorkeling and whale watching tours were overpriced compared to the neighbouring competition.
Review 49:This was a great place for our family - the beach location is fantastic. Best beach in Sri Lanka in the month of July. The rooms are quite comfortable, not large, but large enough for two. The food selection at the buffet was so very good.
Review 50:We were in Sri Lanka for 10 days and got incredible service everywhere..Chaaya Blu however had inconsistent service..some of the staff were excellent, especially the pool boys and bell boys..but the staff at the front office and especially the staff at The Crab restaurant are terrible !! Absolute lack of acknowledgement and no interest in serving the customer.. considering they're a 4 star hotel - the only 4 star hotel in Trincomalee- they really need to pick themselves up before they become a have-been..
Review 51:The rooms, the location (beach bungalow) overlooking the most beautiful waters ever, the breakfast and dinner buffet and the pool
Review 52:I feel a hotel with water sports facilities should include some activities free of charge with the room/not charge extortionate prices to hotel guests.
Review 53:Stunning location and clearly the most luxurious hotel on the beach. Most of the staff were very friendly and the food was good - would reccomend the Al la carte looking out over the sea in the evening.
Review 54:Food is tasteless. Real bad! We tried to dine at "Crab". It's a shame. Guys, it's Shri Lanka! Such an opportunity for fresh and tasty food! We ended out having our lunches and dinners at Gaga restaurant nearby. Great food. Inexpensive too. Best fried rice and seafood soap in Sri Lanka, no doubt.
Review 55:Everything has been already said about Chaya Blue above. Beach, location and Indian Ocean make it real good. Worth for money, no doubt (fortunately, we got a special deal at Booking.Com :-)) Nearby there is a highly professional aurveda Spa place. Suvek spa. Renuka (the owner) is highly highly professional! A lot of diplomas. It made our stay as well. Best shirodhara ever.
Review 56:Some young male staff working on beach/ outdoors area a bit too attentive.
Review 57:Room was right on the beach and had surprisingly good wifi. Good staff at reception & restaurant. Dinner Buffett great.
Review 58:Need to pay more attention to the room cleanliness.
Review 59:Hotel is located close to Trincomalee but not in the city. It has all the necessary facilities like restaurants, bars, swimming pool and beach beds. Life music on the weekends. Rooms are a big but need some renovation. Although super comfy bed and air conditioning is compensating the lack of renovation :) Staff is very helpful and nice. Especially in the Crab Bar! Good food if you order by the menu. Breakfast buffet was OK – good variety but for my taste not too fresh. If you expecting high European standards, you may be a bit disappointed. But be sure it’s one of the best hotels in Sri-Lanka. Relax and enjoy the trip :)
Review 60:The food was terrible. We were served seafood that seemed like it was still frozen! Plenty of other restaurants to go to just outside the property though.
Review 61:Staff were really friendly and helpful. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Location was perfect being right on the beach. Pool was great
Review 62:This hotel is rather worn and needs a big update. So in my opinion it is only a 3 star hotel with 4* prices. Package tour hotel. However it does seem some room renovation work had begun to bring the hotel back to 4*
Review 63:Great beach location
Review 64:The presence of crows and dogs everywhere, even sipping water from the swimming pool gave us the creeps. Wish they could somehow be kept away from the property.
Review 65:We had a very comfortable stay at Chaaya Blu. They even upgraded our rooms to the best of the property - closest to the beach!
Review 66:Rooms could be done earlier, at 1 pm they were still not done so had to complain, as we are 65 and 70 year olds and needed the afternoon nap!!!
Review 67:Staff very friendly
Review 68:We hated the ravens around the beach which scream like mad and thieve everything from sun beds and even out of hands. And the hotel stuff do nothing to solve the real problem. And we didn't like a water running from a ceiling in our room.
Review 69:Nothing special about the hotel itself, but there're two good things about it - nice ocean in this area and a very good restaurant The Crab
Review 70:the missing smile and courtesy on the staffs faces. We traveled for whole Sri Lanka and people are so friendly everywhere. However in Chaaya B the difference was enormous. The beach are very dirty. A lot of people pooching for you buy something
Review 71:the location and the pool
Review 72:The hotel is in a wonderful location and provides both a lovely beach and pool area. Some of the best service I have encountered in Sri Lanka. I can't praise the staff enough.
Review 73:Little bit expensive for what you get...the bathroom could use a good refresher, the beach matrasses are getting too hot
Review 74:Nice hotel, good room with balcony to outside. Breakfast is delicious.
Review 75:The restaurant serves overpriced food and drinks, and the portions are quite small. The check in and check out took a lot of time.
Review 76:Nice beach, beautiful pool, clean.
Review 77:Everything was too much trouble for the staff. It took over an hour to check in and over half an hour to check out which was really unnecessary as they were not very busy. They tried to ridiculously overcharge us for a whale excursion when down the beach it was a third of the price with very friendly staff. The food was okay but nothing to right home about and again we found much better places down the beach sitting either in a giant tree house over the sea or having dinner right on the beach. This hotel has the opportunity to be a 5* hotel which makes it more disappinting.
Review 78:The rooms are clean and comfortable and the hotel is right on the beech
Review 79:Beach bums after dark.they can be intimidating as they are in packs.
Review 80:Great staff very plesant and always obliging.they know that they work in the service industry.
Review 81:Housekeeping supervisor who was a female Tamil and obviously resented me being a Singhalese...she charged me 15$ for a hand towel which she claimed that I had 'damaged'. A claim I disputed. Turned out she was a war widow employed by the hotel and that she has caused previous problems. Not at all acceptable to have staff members like that in the hospitality business.
Review 82:Front office and bar staff were excellent. Room was excellent. Location to Trincomalee town was ideal as it was close but not too close to ruin the resort environment.
Review 83:Bathroom had bad toilet smell and shower water pressure two low. Also lack of recreational items such as badminton set.
Review 84:Friendly and efficient staff. Room's cleanliness and A/C are excellent.
Review 85:Very very bad drivers accomodation, to the point that I would not recommend going there with a driver
Review 86:Fantastic Hotel, Great pool, nice lobby, great location on the Beach.
Review 87:The beach rooms have not been maintained. Room and toilet tile grout need to be cleaned more. A/C didn't go below 26 degrees which made the room uncomfortable. The ala-carte menu needs to have more Sri Lankan dishes.
Review 88:Loved the beach and the pool. Executive chef organised a great Sri Lankan lunch. He also organised a great seafood BBQ with a bonfire at the beach. We loved the experience.
Review 89:The route to the location wasn't friendly beach is not great intruders from other property into our beach area, no private beach concept the price is high for the overall comfort & privacy
Review 90:nothing very particularly...
Review 91:Location is a bit isolated, so you're kind of stuck there. The beach right in front is nice and clean, but just a bit out and you run into a lot of rubbish.
Review 92:Beautiful property right on the beach. The rooms are nicely appointed, and the grounds immaculate with a great pool.
Review 93:There were no double beds in beachfront bungalows, just two single beds connected together. There was no hot tub by the pool. There were cows every evening at the hotel property, so the next day you had to watch your steps in order not to step into something "special". Food at the hotel is overpriced comparing to the hotels nearby.
Review 94:Location, swimming pool, friendly smiling staff, cleanliness of the beach, discounts during the off season, amazing live music, great welcome with drinks and wet towels.
Review 95:We stayed at the deluxe rooms which seemed much more private than the superior rooms - the deluxe rooms have direct access to the beach and are located away from the main building There are 2 restaurants - would recommend the Crab (both the location and the food are great) Nice large pool
Review 96:The bathroom could have been a bit cleaner. But that seems to be a weakness at every hotel I stayed at in Sri Lanka.
Review 97:Loved the pool. Food was good. The hotel, pool, gardens and beach are beautiful, and so are the rooms. Quiet surroundings.
Review 98:The room and the pool were great. Our two years old daughter really enjoyed the children pool and the small playground. We spent two very relaxing days here.
Review 99:Only complaint was that we told reception our check out time yet when it came to checking out it took the 45 minutes to sort out our bill. It came across that the reception staff are very inexperienced
Review 100:Had a great 2 night stay at chaaya blu. The service was a bit slow at times but the facilities and food was great.
Review 101:cleanness of balcony need to improve
Review 102:luxury hotel in Trin, room with sea view, clean, comfort bed, varied buffet breakfast. the best place to view sunrise in srilanka
Review 103:Nothing really, its a resort so it is resort prices for food and drink so not a surprise
Review 104:Happy and informative staff Great location, definitely recommend the beach houses. A definite revisit for is someday
Review 105:You are trapped at the resort with a tuk tuk ride into town being expensive - but that's the whole idea of a resort so for folks who dig that it's a great place.
Review 106:Location was great
Review 107:Very nice off season stay at the hotel in january. However The weather was good without rain at all, a little windy so we had some waves. The hotel staff is very nice and doing everything to make the holiday a memorable time. The food was good aswell. We booked without meals and the prices were really good compared to the neighbour restaurants and the food quality. Furthermore there sea food Restaurant the crab is located very idyllic directly at the beach. Its a quite relaxing atmosphere with decent music all over the public hotel area. We would really recommend This place and come back
Review 108:If i have the authontication i will order to shutdown this cheating hotel, if i am not getting my payment back i will take leagal action and place an artical in midea. Already i have compalined to booking.com via email and waiting for the reply
Review 109:Price is higher than others nearby hotels with similar facilities,
Review 110:Very efficient, polite and helpful staff. Very good food. Super beach facilities. Good room with comfortable bedding, bath and free wifi.
Review 111:Prices are not clearly mentioned, we were charged extra when we went to settle the bill which were not mentioned on the web site & the quantity of the food can be improved drastically eg.fruit platter.
Review 112:The juxtaposition of rich and poor in one neighbourhood is abit troubling. Chaaya Blu should clean the beach of the assorted debris which washes ashore.
Review 113:Food sumptuous; staff very happy in their jobs and not all obsequious; beach appealing and long; pool in great vantage.
Review 114:Lack cleanliness in the room and the beach outside the room. Broken room fridge
Review 115:Staff was courteous and helpful and tried their best to make our stay as comfortable as possible.
Review 116:There were one thing which was very annoying - there were crows all over. They even wing in the restaurant taking peoples food :(
Review 117:We defo liked the place - very relaxing and you had a nice beach as the "backyard".. There were wonderful breakfast buffet, which we really enjoyed. the staff were friendly and the pool area nice and clean.
Review 118:Not always well organised: for instance, in the Crab restaurant they did not have enough menus. They did not have enough of the specialised cutlery for the crabs... The rooms were cleaned in the afternoon (siesta time) There was no list of the facilities on offer. The everpresent musak got on my nerves a little
Review 119:The beachfront location was superb just next to the beach. The staff were very helpful. The rooms were very comfortable. The facilities were new and in good condition. The food was generally good
Review 120:Dogs and cats are all around the place. One of the cats kept on coming inside my room every time I would leave the door open. It was a task to make it stay away. Some people are allergic to cats.
Review 121:The Location and view is grate! You can watch the fishermen pull the nets out of the ocean and even participate in it. Food at the Crab restaurant was really delicious. One should really try crab in Garlic ginger sous.
Review 122:when we arrived the reseptionest said that we had no booking but they had empty rooms so we were able to stay the night and we were asked pay up front we did not have hot water to have a shower on the evenin g we arrived and had to stay 3 hours until they fixed the hot water when we came back after our evening meal to our room there was a cat in the room
Review 123:the food was good
Review 124:- rooms are very tiny, but ok - Hotel is quite of age - As backpackers we booked online for 2 days and the room with breakfast was extremely expensive compared to what you get. - standard hotel, could be anywhere in the world in this style. Nothing really remarkable
Review 125:- nice beach - very good food at the buffet - helpful restaurant crew
Review 126:we booked on booking and paid the money, but when we arrived the hotel after 07 hours from colombo to Trinco Male, the hotel tell us there is no room for us!!!!!! what's the ridicularous thing?! so we are arranged to anoother hotel nearby.
Review 127:it is not as good as three years ago, the beach is dirty. anyhow, the dinner and breakfast is very good. The arrangement to snorkelling is very good! value of money, cheap than other shops.
Review 128:Over priced for this resort after hidden fees and taxes are added. Wifi is very slow and ineffective. Rooms are decent size but cleanliness was poor. Found human blood and mud in our room! Restaurant food is fair but not same quality as other hotel we stayed at in Sri Lanka.
Review 129:Ocean view and beach are wonderful. Swimming pool lobby area were nice.
Review 130:Ants in the room as well as it was not cleaned well. The waste cans were not emptied from prior tenants when we got there. The Wi-Fi was slow and did not have bandwidth.
Review 131:Location was excellent and beaches were kept cleaned. The staff very curteous, friendly and helpful. The food both the buffet and room service were excellent had variety to choose from. The food, native or foreign were all prepared well. I also liked having the SCUBA, Snorkling and fishing excursion in the hoetl. My son and I did the SCUBA diving and it was PERFECT!!. I wish we had more time to go snorkling and fishing. We definitely like to stay in this hotel again.
Review 132:during my stay there, sum of money was stolen from my wallet, when I left it in room and went swimming, this is the only negative moment about our stay there
Review 133:Very good hotel, nice location, tasty food and perfect evening live perfoemances
Review 134:Increes family room
Review 135:money is letl hi
Review 136:food, comfort
Review 137:Manager was surly, unhelpful and she was unable to answer any of our queries
Review 138:Most staff. Pool. Restaurants.
Review 139:The food was not upto Cinnamon group of hotel standards ( Lunch and Dinner)
Review 140:Location
