Reviews for Hôtel - Restaurant " Victor Hugo"

Review 1:Very nice, clean and quiet. We had a large, seemingly rather recently renovated, room with views in two directions - one up towards the castle and one over the rooftops and streets of the village. Dinner was very nice and cosy. Outstanding grilled meat, which surprised us because the restaurant is pretty basic.

Review 2:When we arrived to check in person at th desk was on the phone with a personal call didn't hang up or tell us that she be with us, so we stood there for 5 minutes before she hung .

Review 3:We got the best room great view of Vinden Castle, great food

Review 4:Very small room, if someone wants to work with a computer no proper desk. Room located beside the street. Traffic starts at 5.30 and man wakes up every morning before alarm clock especially when window open.

Review 5:Very good localisation, nice bar, good food in restaurant. Fast wi-fi. Wery helpfull owner. I did not pay for 2 days when I had to leave the place earlier. Perfect place for turism. Free parking area for 2 minutes away from the hotel.

Review 6:Parking is not great, free parking is some way away and not secure and pay parking is still not close and expensive and still not obviously that secure. Having said that security as such did not seem to be a real issue. We were en route to a wedding and for us it was important.

Review 7:Pet friendly, Great Restaurant and good breakfast. We have stayed here before, in the middle of last January on the way home from the Alps. We liked it then hence summer visit. shame to see some places we thought were closed for the Winter still closed but this is a very pretty town,

Review 8:can't think of anything

Review 9:It's a lovely hotel with a nice cosy bar downstairs. The staff are very friendly and they have a lovely outside terrace where you can enjoy their good food and a nice cold drink

Review 10:Nothing

Review 11:Location of hotel in the town, great view of the river & castle. It's about 12 years since I last visited Vianden & I was surprised by the way the town seems to have lost some of it's popularity with tourists. There weren't many shops of restaurants open - we were there on Tues & Weds so maybe it's busier at a weekend. Breakfast was excellent & set you up for the day. We were travelling by motorbike & were able to park our bikes on the pavement outside the hotel.

Review 12:Would be good if guidance was given as to where to park. We found a great little car park just a few steps from the hotel, but we just happened to find it rather than given any clues. Cost was about 8 euros for 24hrs which wasn't bad value.

Review 13:The staff, the atmosphere, the location. Value for money. Amazing Scenery.

Review 14:Our room was facing the main road and from 6:00 in the morning it was very noisy cause of cars and motor bikes.

Review 15:Central location, 5 minutes walk to the Castle. Friendly staff, clean and cosy rooms. Nice breakfast.

Review 16:Couldn't get the wifi in the room--had to go to the bar. ;-)

Review 17:The hotel is unique and quirky with all updated facilities, a first-rate restaurant and a fun pub, right on the river looking up at the castle. A perfect place to stay.

Review 18:The light that switch off when you take a shower. The comfort of the bed could be better.

Review 19:The place is fantastic. Very nice view from the hotel. The staff was very helpful. Good bargain.

Review 20:Very old furnitures: torn armchairs, dust on the carpet, bed matrasses, for this price furnitures should be newer. No parking place of the hotel. The images on the booking.com are only from the highest price rooms.

Review 21:Nice area, large room, new bathroom with a bath tub, clean bed linen, breakfast not too rich but you can find something to eat, there was roll-top on the windows.

Review 22:No parking on site only pay and display about 100m away.

Review 23:The hotel is centrally located in the village and has nice views over the river Ours and up to the castle. Many restaurants and cafes nearby.

Review 24:The only "issue" was that probably the room was not a non smoking one. But that's my fault as I did not ask specifically for it.

Review 25:I've been given indications on how to enter the hotel and reach my room. No one else but me... But in the morning, still unique guest, I had a really good breakfast: thanks, Rita!

Review 26:Very nice hotel in the middle of Vianden. Even there is no private parking, you can find free parking just in front of the hotel, across the river. Good (but expensive) restaurant at the hotel.

Review 27:It was impossible to sleep because of the noise. Every 5-10 minutes buses were passing the street. It was feeling like it goes just through you!

Review 28:Free wi-fi. We were quite late but receptionist waited us.

Review 29:- bed was too soft; as for the city/viillage, most museums and other tourist attractions are closed during winter

Review 30:- location at the heart of the village, very close to the bus stop and had a good view of the castle; very quiet and good for a relaxing holiday; staff were very friendly and accommodating

Review 31:When we arrived the restaurant was closed. Then we were told the restaurant was closed on the second day of our stay. The hotel had our email but didn't inform us. In room the radiator was switched off and when we turned it on nothing happened. On telling the owner he insisted it would take a while and offered extra blankets but the room was freezing. We ended up sitting in the bar and finally he discovered the heating was broken. We had to wait until 11pm to get into the room. The bathroom had no heat and so the only way to get it warm was to leave the door open. Next thing is the 3 euro parking. It no longer exists so we had to feed a local car park at 30 cents off peak and 60 cents peak times. The owner said it was an issue with booking.com. But we said we could have been informed. Any complaints were going nowhere and were met with a shoulder shrug. So off peak all restaurants in Vianden close at 9 pm with a lot not open at all. Next morning we spoke with his wife and were allowed to park in the hotel space for free and had the evenings bar bill wiped out. The rest of the stay went well.

Review 32:The bed was the most comfortable we have ever stayed in. Location perfect and breakfast was good with everything fresh.

Review 33:The bathroom was clean and functional but needs a serious update to match the room/hotel.

Review 34:Nothing is far in town but this hotel has a beautiful location on the river. Perfectly central and just a short walk to a cafe, a bakery and further uphill to the castle. Breakfast was the standard assortment found throughout the country. The room was cozy and comfortable. No problem finding a parking spot in the covered garage next to the hotel.

Review 35:Nothing.

Review 36:Staff were very friendly, hardworking and helpful. The situation of the hotel is extremely good, situated right in the middle if the town. It had a friendly and busy atmosphere. The food in the restaurant was excellent.

Review 37:Only parking was a pay lot or on the street across the river.

Review 38:Great location, staff spoke good English, and we're very accommodating. Right on the river. Great restaurant for dinner, and a very good breakfast with omelet type eggs

Review 39:Some rooms at the front of the hotel could be noisy particularly early morning.

Review 40:Ideally situated for visiting the town. Perfect view of the Castle. Clean friendly and excellent breakfast

Review 41:The service in this hotel was fantastic, warm & welcoming. The food was excellent and our stay well worth the money. We found this hotel on booking .com & are now planning to visit it again the next time we visit Luxembourg. Perfectly situated in beautiful historic town overlooking canal.

Review 42:Staff had to be asked more than once for anything. No wheel chair access Although beds made every day room not cleaned

Review 43:Location was great Had a lift Rooms a good size

Review 44:Great location on the banks of a beautiful little town. Close to everything to walk around. We stayed for 1 night only and our room was on an upper floor (our choice) overlooking the main road and town. The noise mentioned in other reviews didn't bother us.Staff friendly & helpful. Breakfast served in the restaurant was very good with a varied choice and we enjoyed an evening meal in the garden.

Review 45:the mattress of the bed was bad, too soft I had back pain I slept the second night on the floor

Review 46:hotel is quite outdated & there was a funny smell in room #214.

Review 47:view of the amazing castle, riverfront

Review 48:The room was small, the bathroom was really average. I would have expected more considering the photos.

Review 49:The location, the facade of the hotel.

Review 50:a charming setting......our second visit

Review 51:The room was a little small.

Review 52:Great location, the village was very quaint and picturesque. Breakfast was good.

Review 53:Location and scenery with castle above, picture postcard setting

Review 54:Tons of mosquitoes. my wife and I could barely sleep because of the bites and the heat - no air condition.

Review 55:nice place with a good view

Review 56:Nice hotel, lovely town

Review 57:Perfect hotel

Review 58:Leaving

Review 59:Lovely room

Review 60:Location was good and it was a good bar.

Review 61:We parked the car and walked everywhere. So easy, little bars and restaurants all along the main street.

Review 62:breakfast

Review 63:location

Review 64:Great location and charming village. Clean, all the necessities well covered. Good food and local wines. Friendly staff. A great stay.

Review 65:limited parking, public parking expensive

Review 66:Quiet and comfortable room, bags of character and charm, excellent food

Review 67:Closest free parking is 200 m away Breakfast was 12 eur instead of 6 eur (as indicated on booking.com)

Review 68:clean and modern room + sauna was super-hot!

Review 69:No heating in bathroom

Review 70:Location

Review 71:No parking available. Room not over-large

Review 72:Pleasant and picturesque location. Bar/restaurant on ground floor

Review 73:Very noisy

Review 74:Tiny bathroom.

Review 75:A good size room with a balcony

Review 76:Poor breakfast choice

Review 77:I could complain about the small bathroom and that it was to hot in the room but I wont. The only real problem was the NOICE of the bar until 3h in the morning. It was the owner of the hotel and his staff/ friends having a party. In the old building it sounded like they were standing beside your bed...

Review 78:Situated in the city center of Vianden, close to restaurants.

Review 79:For the money, I was expecting more facilities; like refrigerator at room, swimming pool, etc.

Review 80:Located at the center of the village. Clean and cozy room. Good staff. Decent breakfast, and 10% discount at the restaurant for hotel guests.

Review 81:Meals a little expensive, but very good.

Review 82:newly remodeled room - spectacular bathroom - great tiling, and bed was dreamy! Menu not too extensive but the trout was superb and the Lux'berger pork steaks with 'dicke Bohnen; was wonderful.

Review 83:Couldn't fault it really.

Review 84:Located right in the center of the village beside the river and old bridge. Fantastic view of the castle etc if you have a room on the river side. Great choice for breakfast, continental or otherwise. Helpful owner and staff. Very nice rooms, clean. Wifi through-out hotel, including the rooms.

Review 85:Nice location and very friendly staff. The food was very good and the atmosphere in the hotel as well as the restaurant was very good. Would like to go back.

Review 86:The staff were a bit distant. They answer your questions but that'sabout it. We have stayed a lot in Luxemburg and this is pretty commonbehaviour in these areas so don't worry about that too much.

Review 87:Clean room that was quiet and pleasant. The shower and bathroom were ok.Situated in a very nice location, close to the river and beautifulcastle and mountains at the very center of Vianden. Breakfast is notextensive but ok and is served in a wonderful hall. We did not havediner at the hotel. There are cheaper possibilities for a good mealwithin walking distance. I highly recommend this hotel for those wholike a peaceful, quiet place

Review 88:What's not to like?

Review 89:Location, location, location, this hotel sits beside the river witha view to the Chateau de Vianden. The rooms are beautifully renovated and the hotel oozes charm. A perfect place to spend an evening or two.

Review 90:There was smoke from cigarettes in hotel corridors and even in restaurant. Very annoying if you have children and pregnant wife.

Review 91:Staff was very friendly.

Review 92:having a room on the front side of the hotel meant you heard all the traffic, which carried on through the night.

Review 93:modern style furnishings, bathroom etc but in a lovely old building. view of the river. bridge and the narrow streets. excellant value breakfast, with a very good selection.

Review 94:We stayed in the hotel for two nights and had "Gastronomic package". We didn't regret about it. Dinner was tasty and interesting, especiallythe second "gastronomic" one. And they really gave us a bottle of Luxembourg wine, so we didn't have to worry about souvenir:) The hotel is well-situated, rooms are comfortable, staff is friendly, so it really worth to visit.

Review 95:Nothing just the greatest time we had at that hotel

Review 96:The owner was just great and helpful She made our stay just great and the breakfast was just great to start the day. we will go back next year and request the same room with the balcony

Review 97:Initial check-in with very abrupt and in German (which I fortunately canspeak). Problems with internet were taken care of by much friendlierEnglish speaking staff member.

Review 98:Good location with views of castle outside of window

Review 99:There wasn't anything we did not like. We were very pleased with our stay there and will certainly come back.

Review 100:We liked everything anout the hotel. Very friendly staff, really willing to make your stay very pleasant. The room we had was also very nice, good location, modern style, clean and with airconditioning.

Review 101:When we arrived neither bathroom lights were working, we had to askdesk to replace, but what we really did not like was the fact that thelocal fire brigade band seem to use the bar as their local, and theirdrunken antics could be heard hundreds of meters up the street.Certainly drove us out of the hotel to eat, and everyone else in townexcept the fire men seemed to be of the same opinion! Didn'tmention that in the brochure.

Review 102:Location was central, nice views.

Review 103:I wish I could have stayed longer.

Review 104:I loved the view of the local castle and the river. It was a perfectlocation. The hiking available is fantastic and the views make itworthwhile. There is even a ropes course nearby, Indian Forest.

Review 105:Woken up by a cleaner trying to get into our room in the morning twice, everything else perfect!

Review 106:The location was brilliant as it was the most central hotel in town, the rooms were clean with a great view of the castle and good value for money. Also a very good Alpine-themed Restaurant nearby.

Review 107:people were smoking in the hotel bar.

Review 108:The location was perfect with view of the castle and very nice terraces nearby. rooms were clean, good shower and very good bed. we could park our motorcycles dry and safe.

Review 109:The hotel was empty but for our two reservations. The hotel could haveput us in rooms facing the castle (those rooms remained empty), butchose to offer a room that smelled strongly of smoke, and one where tv,phone, and bathroom did not work. I would never recommend this hotel totourists visiting Vianden. Make reservations at any other hotel in town-- they are all much nicer.

Review 110:Fairly good location in town, facing the castle of Vianden.

Review 111:The automatic light in the bathroom was going off too fast so I had to open/close the shower cabin door periodically to turn it back on :)

Review 112:Everything. It's a very good place to stay from all points of view.

Review 113:The breakfast offering was not good and the eggs we asked for were raw. They were in a hurry to clean up for the morning.

Review 114:The location was perfect! The view from our mini suite overlooked the river.

Review 115:We stayed at this hotel for three nights on a gastromonic package. Wewere given a very nice room at the back of the hotel, but found out thata party was to take place on the 3rd night of our stay. We were twofloors up but directly over the party room, we asked to be moved andthis was done without any problems. The first two nights the dinnerswere very good, and service excellent. The problem arose on the 3rdnight (party night) we were moved to another dinning area on the firstfloor. After waiting 1 hr and still no sign of our first course, werequested to know why, we were told that the kitchen had a problem. Withthis we left the dinning room to see the Manager. After a discussion wewere then placed in the party room where we felt we were intruding onthe guests. Ourmeal was then served to us quickly with good service. Butthis experience has left us with bad feelings of the hotel. The waitingstaff in our opinion did an excellent job as they were under pressure, owing to lack of staff and trying to look after the hotel guests and afunction at the same time.

Review 116:This is a 3 stars hotel, so, do not expect so much. But, consideringthis, the hotel is very good.

Review 117:Location. It is close to every atraction in the city.

Review 118:The room 304 was amazing ! newly remodeled, great king bed, and anamazing View of the castle. The other window view the peaceful village, and nature. I was very fortunate, as I took my 86 mom, for Easter. Theowner was gracious Not to charge Xtra for that room. I am grateful. Foodand service excellent. Price ok , for " rich " Luxembourg !

Review 119:We were living on the 1st floor so it was really noisy from the bar until late in the night. Also it's allowed to smoke inside so if you're a non smoker be prepared for the smell everywhere.

Review 120:Breakfast was ok

Review 121:You might expect a bit of city noise.

Review 122:Such a wonderful hotel! We were given probably the best room (105) witha very good view to the castle and the bridge,

Review 123:Could be problems with parking, we were lucky obtaining a place whilst staying.

Review 124:Good central location,

Review 125:Dinner restaurant food was exellent. Gourmet quality!

Review 126:Towels felt a bit rough

Review 127:Great location and excellent restauant

Review 128:Nice Hotel, beautiful place....

Review 129:Nothing at all

Review 130:Location, helpful staff
