Reviews for Hobart Tower Motel

Review 1:Rooms were old & tired. Bathroom door kept on opening independently (not good when using facilities)- used a chair to keep closed.

Review 2:Location was close to Derwent Entertainment Centre & Hobart CBD Loved the tiny staircase that lead to the tower with a fabulous view of Hobart

Review 3:Shower pressure bad, it started off good but then nearly turned off and switched from hot to cold. Air conditioning would be handy, although we had a fan, it was still too hot in a small room with only one window. Traffic noise from the highway early in the morning. Could do with a carpet clean & general spring clean.

Review 4:Location good.

Review 5:Room, shower cubicle is far too small, the bathroom could be set out better wasted space. Had light outside of room far too bright and couldn't be turned off. Double beds are too small. Over priced.

Review 6:It was available I suppose.

Review 7:Tea Cups dirty, brown coffee stains on all of them. All for had to be washed.

Review 8:Helped me when I left without my insulin, it was still in the frig. in my room. Thanks for helping me getting it back.

Review 9:No air conditioning, rooms very hot 30 degree day, windows broken couldnot open, asked reception if could be moved or full refund , could nothelp with anything, wouldn't not stay there again not happy!!!!!!

Review 10:Nothing I didn't like about the hotel. Just dislike a very rude Chinese tourist from the room nearest to the staircase. She thought she own the hotel and can shushed anyone she likes!

Review 11:I like the huge family room and am thankful for the generosity of the staff for upgrading our room for our comfort.

Review 12:Difficulty understanding owners, they were Chinese and had some difficulty with English. Owners more interested in Chinese tourists than other guests. Pubic hairs on floors in bathroom area, room not vacuumed even though leaves and other debris had blown into room.

Review 13:Location close to city and restaurants

Review 14:The rooms at the front are a bit noisier than those at the back. There was virtually no pressure in the shower and temperature was unprecictable which made showering unpleasant

Review 15:Convenience of location and pleasantness of staff.

Review 16:The shower. The shower head needs to be corrected in room 54. It spouts water EVERYWHERE. There were also no utensils, except for teaspoons, and no plates etc.

Review 17:The price was great. Only $13 to get a taxi into Salamanca. We got a small family room. It was beautifully spacious. Two separate rooms. Which I loved.

Review 18:Booked online standard room. Put in family room. Even though standard rooms available at approx $40-$50 cheaper. Power point did not work. Lamp over bed loose. Noise from family next door woke me daily.Bed cover had stains on it. Reception person barely acknowledged me.Took payment up front. All times I spoke to reception person , it was like I was causing problems Would not change room. Recommendation do not stay at this motel.

Review 19:NOTHING

Review 20:the shower had very little water pressure and would fluctuate occasionally (it was an older style shower head, which i suspect had a flow restriction insert)

Review 21:good location, clean and neat room. Was given a room upgrade for free which was very much appreciated.

Review 22:The whole room smell like a dirty toilet. Table dirty, washroom was so smelly, they even didn't clean the fridge (there was 1 pack eaten half box of ice cream in the freezer). There was hair and dirty mark on the wall of the shower room. Anyway wasn't happy at all

Review 23:Nothing good.

Review 24:HIGHWAY VERY CLOSE IF YOU ARE NEAR RECEPTION. VERY COLD BATHROOM NO HEATING OPEN VENT IN BATHROOM. BEDS NOT VERY COMFY.

Review 25:PARK AT THE DOOR, CLOSE TO CITY

Review 26:The room's kettle didn't work, and leaked over the shelf, however it was replaced immediately on request. Perhaps with the toaster a plate & knife could be supplied.

Review 27:A toaster was offered In the brochure & supplied with no issue.

Review 28:the tv was black background all the time, the room was comfortable but noisey, the heater made a funny noise when you turned it on,there was no parking spot for the room, a bus was there and took up at least 10 parking spaces

Review 29:close to town

Review 30:Very central, for us, the motel gave us a complimentary room upgrade, so value was excellent. It was neat, cleanliness was average, but they made up our room everyday of our 3 night stay, which is more than most, great linen/towels/face washers and pillow variety.

Review 31:first I would like to said thank you to the lady at the front desk I made I mistake with my room booking and she happily fixed it for me and we got a room inside the building

Review 32:The bed was a bit squeaky when you rolled over in the night

Review 33:It was really easy to get to the motel and the facilities for thw price where great. We had a wonderful time.

Review 34:This hotel has been upgraded since the last time we stayed ... thank goodness! Shower was small but powerful with plenty of hot water. Free WiFi was a bonus when travelling with teenage girls!!

Review 35:Kitchenette didn't have bowls ans spoons for our weetbix but the friendly staff soon fixed that.

Review 36:Best value for money in town when staying with the family! Close to the pool.

Review 37:Staff were blank no communication or friendly welcome. My toilet at home was bigger then the whole bathroom.drive away was dangerous only one way in or out and very narrow

Review 38:Location was close to city 3minutes but that's about it.

Review 39:No real complaints.Heater was very warm but bathroom dad fixed louvre ventilation which made it very chilly on a cold windy night.

Review 40:Very convenient to Hobart city around 5 minutes away.

Review 41:Carpet a bit old and damage. The shower screen need replaced. TV pic goin blured after awhile.

Review 42:The bed is comfortable. Almost all furniture are new. Bathroom basin been updated.staff very nice. Location is reachable with bus and car park just in front of the unit.

Review 43:TV too small only half screen plus very dark could hear neighbours noises plus building creaked at night had trouble with door lock twice

Review 44:Location friendly helpful staff breakfast always on time and hot

Review 45:Heaters didn't work properly and 2 out of 6 electric blankets didn't work and being in Hobart in winter you need both. We had to ask for plates/bowls and cutlery which should have been in the room already. WiFi was impossible to connect to as well.

Review 46:It was close to shops and not in a busy area

Review 47:Hairs on the bedsheets, very cold in room, had to keep heaters on much of the time

Review 48:Nice half hour walk to town. Close to public transport, staff polite.

Review 49:Could not get the electric blanket to work

Review 50:Really enjoyed our stay, my grandson and I found the motel very comfortable and in a good location for our short trip to hobart

Review 51:The room was so grubby and needed a decent clean. Receptionist interrupted booking me in to answer a phone call and I had to wait far too long. Very rude in my opinion

Review 52:Convenience and price

Review 53:The room was very old and run down. Everything seemed dirty not cleaners fault they just dont have much to work with. The room was freezing even after aditional heating. We had another room booked for another time but have cancelled. this place needs alot of work.

Review 54:Did advise them that a plug on the electric blanket was bent, and a problem opening the bathroom sliding door.

Review 55:Location and value for money for a one night stay..Was very quiet considering it was very close to the highway

Review 56:The bed mattresses were not good, lumpy and due for a replacement

Review 57:The decor was basic but thoughtful. Shower ok, enough towels, tea facilities, hairdryer, warm heater.

Review 58:1st room, you couldn't use hair dryer because it would reach power point, if you had your own, you couldn't use a power point and see a mirror at the same time. There wasn't a power point to plug in heater without having to move furniture so if wasn't too close to things, causing a fire.

Review 59:2nd room was good, no complaints.

Review 60:A little bit dated and could do with a fresh coat of paint and new tiles in the bathroom to bring it up to date

Review 61:It had everything that you need for a short stay and is located nice and close to the city.

Review 62:Just a couple of minutes drive to central CBD it was the ideal location to stay whilst my husband was in. Hospital. The room was adequate for my evenings away from hospital and my husband.

Review 63:Very plain room. Bathroom wasn't properly clean and water temperature changed frequently with other apartments using water. Pillows very flat.

Review 64:Location was good, lots of parking available for cars.

Review 65:The room was filthy, freezing cold and dangerous. The ancient oil heater provided, sparked & shorted out. There was mould in the bathroom & fingernails, a millipede & a moth behind 2 of the beds.

Review 66:The best thing about our stay was that it was only for one night!

Review 67:That is the noisiest place I have ever stayed in on my years of travelling. I would NOT recommedt this place to anyone. The walls are so thin you can hear conversations next door let alone the partying. Horrific sleep and stay.

Review 68:wish we could of stayed longer.

Review 69:We arrived and were greated by a lovely lady, were told we had been upgraded to a larger room but still the same affordable price. Our room was basic, but clean and comfortable. It was so much nicer than what we expected for the price.

Review 70:I suggest if you are staying at this hotel ask and ensure you have a room at the back of the property. The front rooms would be very noisy.

Review 71:I was in a room located at the back of the property and there was no noise from the busy road at the front of the property

Review 72:I have stayed at The Tower many times in past 2 and half years (on business) and it's always been fine. The last time however there was a weirdo a few rooms down from me and he was so noisy and disturbing that I asked if I could move rooms. The duty manager arranged a move within a few minutes, even though it was about 3am. So I have no complaints about the staff, only about one comment about a horrid customer!

Review 73:To be honest the trainee at the reception, although nice enough...was a bit awkward and well..not a good first impression and could be annoying to some people...

Review 74:Bed was very good, room very clean and freshly decorated.. Nice hot shower and really quite compared to CBD..Bus stops nearly directly in front and return to downtown Hobart easy.

Review 75:Room could do with a bit of a redo: paint retouched, bathroom fixed up a bit etc.

Review 76:Good spot for exploring Hobart, nice surrounds (gardens, old houses).

Review 77:The motel is not centrally located and we had to drive to restaurants and the harbor. we had booked a family suite with 2 separate bedroom, but it was not available and we were given two separate motel room. The entire motel is old and in need of refurbishing.

Review 78:Shower cubicle way to small and door sliders broken. Stairs to upper level hazardous and noisy with other guests entering or leaving.

Review 79:Value for money and within walking distance from city.

Review 80:Slightly cheap feel to some things, like the toilet paper, but everything was robust and effective.

Review 81:The simple but effective layout and features. Everything you need and nothing that you don't.

Review 82:Booked a second night, paid the same fee but bed was made roughly and carpet not vacuumed. First night it was well presented.

Review 83:Close proximity to everything

Review 84:Had booked and paid for a two bedroom family accommodation option which specifically said 2 separate bedrooms - turns out one bed was in a tiny 'living area'. Expected 2 bedrooms and a living area. Average reception from front of house, the entire place needs a facelift which is one thing, however the actual room itself was dirty. No attention to detail in the cleaning - carpet pretty feral, skirting boards-bedhead-bathroom cabinet all dirty havent had a good dust and wipe down in a long time it seems. Could understand if this was really a budget place but we paid $155 for 1 night which isnt very cheap. Wouldnt recommend.

Review 85:Location to centre good however on noisy road

Review 86:We were in a unit facing the big car park away from the street front. So it was very quiet and we were not bothered at all by traffic noise from a highway close by at night time. We had not realised when we booked that the motel was 2 storey and so had not informed management that we had mobility problems. However the reception clerk quickly arranged for us to have a ground floor unit. (Perhaps there should be provision on Booking.com site to mention any special needs of guests?). Each day, the unit was cleaned, beds were made and towels were changed. Extra tea towels were provided to help with some self catering in the unit. The airport shuttle bus stopped almost at the door, as did the public bus into the city..just 7 mins away. This was most convenient for us as we were going to the city each day. There was a good shopping centre down the hill about a 15 minute walk away, less in a car of course! Unfortunately Wi Fi was not working due to Telstra problems and no fault of the Motel management. A very enjoyable stay.

Review 87:Bathroom was dated, main light was very dull, TV very small and TV reception bad. You get a lot of noise from highway right outside your door.

Review 88:Good price for what you get and close to city and North Hobart areas

Review 89:no WiFi. room configuration was a double, but was 2 singles in single file. no fan or a/c and couldn't open window. kettle had to be filled cup by cup from the vanity.

Review 90:location was great. close to the city and easy to find. plenty of parking.

Review 91:At the time of our stay the wifi was unavailable, but that was due to a Telstra fault (not uncommon anywhere:)).

Review 92:We only stayed overnight but found the facilities very adequate. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Hadn't realised that the motel was on more than one level, so we had to climb a short flight of steps. I think that it could have been mentioned at the time of booking, however this was not a major problem at the time and I'm sure the staff would have accommodated us if we'd asked. All in all a nice motel to stay in.

Review 93:Room interior and bathroom needs renovating. Paid top dollar for night then had to pay for use of laundry facilities.

Review 94:Motel close to Hobart's attractions. Staff helpful.

Review 95:Poor layout of room facilities. No powerpoint in en-suite for shaving or hair drying and no bench or shelf to put personal grooming items. Jug could not fit under the basin tap for filling. No sound insulation between rooms - final night kept awake by very loud, animated Asian man on phone.

Review 96:Staff were friendly and obliging when we requested anything. Convenient parking for car.

Review 97:No bad experience, but if you didn't have a car, there's no restaurants etc close to the motel.

Review 98:I stayed at the motel during the 'Wooden Boats Festival', a period when Hobart was full of visitors. I stayed four nights. It was a very short drive into the city centre. Room met all my needs.

Review 99:The room had no air conditioning or fan. Only two bed lamps over the double bed for the whole room, and there were two other single beds. The shower was too small, when you lifted your arms to wash your hair they hit the sides of the shower screen

Review 100:We booked the room for the wooden boat show it was 3.5 ks from the harbour, up a very large hill. But lots of nice places to eat at for tea on the way home

Review 101:Road noise from the main road into Hobart starts around 5am, My room was one of the front ones so maybe a rear unit would be better.

Review 102:Off street parking close to city

Review 103:Double bed/mattress too small, and not long enough for taller people, and not very comfortable (a bit hard). Also rooms don't have enough ventilation - like many places in Tasmania!

Review 104:Good location driving into Hobart from north, just off Brooker. Also last pick-up spot for Shuttle bus going to airport. Spare single beds - good for families or cases and bags.

Review 105:The internet in my room was really poor , but outside my room was ok, this was the only problem

Review 106:Everything was great , the cleanliness, a great apartment, really really good , the location is good close to the city of you are with a car.

Review 107:the lady bending the reception came across rude and was not bothered helping. She was busy speaking to other in her language while i waited for 15 min ( they were having a casual conversation ) and then she did not even bother to tell me where the room was i had to do a lap to find it.

Review 108:The place was nice and clean and tidy and close to town

Review 109:The bathroom door was quite dirty around the handle and on the edge from hand marks. Perhaps the small fridge could be up on the bench instead of having to bend right to floor.

Review 110:The bed was comfortable. Apart from door the bathroom was clean. The reception was clean and tidy and staff very pleasant.

Review 111:Room had no AC temperature was quite up during,we were forced to leave the room,no other method of cooling. Foxtel would have been appreciated with a little bigger screen. Very very weak wifi signals in the room had to use my mobile data.

Review 112:Booking was made while I arrived at the airport(hobart),I do things quite reluctantly ha ha.I got the cheapest price like 95$ cool.Room was ready By the time I got there.fantastic view 5 mins to the town

Review 113:- Wifi only available in reception - FAR from city center, even far from North Hobart (over a mile). If you don't like to be far from city, this is not the place. Too far out for price paid.

Review 114:- Staff very helpful and friendly - Good sized room and bathroom

Review 115:Motel room was very tired. No hot water for first 2 days, but we were compensated. Beds very uncomfortable. Long back hairs & mould in shower.

Review 116:Family Unit Spacious for 2 adults & 3 children

Review 117:The place was very gloomy, very expensive more like a backpackers place,no microwave bathroom was dirty Hair on the doona cover the blinds let daylight in

Review 118:Location was great, free wi fi

Review 119:The room was very hot with no air conditioner. The windows could not be opened because there were no screens and the insects were coming in. No fans, very hard beds.

Review 120:Was close to the city

Review 121:Old room in desperate need of a remodel. No insulation in walls between rooms so very noisy. A fairly good length walk of 2km to town.

Review 122:The hotel manager was very friendly and helpful. Close to some shops and restaurants. Great view from old tower.

Review 123:Cleanliness could have been improved.

Review 124:Reasonably priced. Located away from all the action in Hobart-but Hobart is small so all activities still accessible. Friendly staff.

Review 125:Nothing provided for cooling, ie no fan or air conditioner. Only one window cam be opened slightly. Shower cubicle way too small. A large person would have difficulty moving in the shower.

Review 126:Good size room. Good location.

Review 127:we stop in the self contained units away from the main building and we were on the bottom level about 12 midnight we had 6 young very drunk women and men came back to their unit above us so from then on we didn"T get any sleep from them being so loud and inconsiderate to other people.we could hear them in the toilet spewing and every bit of their conversation not good at all…….so that spoilt our 2 nite stay with my sister .In hind sight we should have rang reception cause that sort of behaviour is just not on .

Review 128:The retro charm has become plain shabbiness. I tried two rooms: the first, right next to a highway, was awful and dingy; the second was tiny. Ripped carpets, ricketty furniture, broken blinds.

Review 129:THE HOT BREAKFAST NEEDS TO BE IMPROVED, WITH A BIT MORE PRESENTAION AND GARNISH ON THE PLATE, AND TOAST BUTTERED A BIT BETTER, BUT HEY IT WAS OKAY, BUT IT COULD BE BETTER

Review 130:EVERYTHING

Review 131:Travellers not familiar with Hobart could easily miss the entrance due to the sign being obscured by trees. The map provided is not very clear.

Review 132:I think it is excellent value for money, the check-in was smooth, the room very spacious and light with a nice presentation of tea and coffee. Good parking facilities. Ideal for tourists travelling by car.

Review 133:No soap and shampoo disspenser available in bathroom and wash basin. A heater light in the bathroom will help the guest feel warmer when coming out of the shower cubicle. Wifi services not available in the rooms and guests felt inconvenient to surf the net at the small reception area.

Review 134:Parking right in front of the room unit.

Review 135:The double bed was not very comfortable unfortunately.

Review 136:Loved the location just a short drive to the city and also the Newtown shopping centre. Room size was great. It suited us very we'll. loved view from the tower and the staff were very helpful and friendly.

Review 137:there was to much light shining through the windows at night could hear the people upstairs moving around at night

Review 138:The location was good, little far to walk into the main shopping area (about 1/2 hr each way) but it was good driving time & close to highway.
