Hotel San Gottardo sells fast on our site. Next to the beach and the departure point for boats to the Borromean Islands, the Hotel San Gottardo is in the center of Verbania. Its terrace has panoramic views out over the mountains and Lake Maggiore.
The rooms have a classic design and all include satellite TV and a private bathroom with a hairdryer. Some have lake views. Wi-Fi throughout the property is free.

Review 1：Excellent location by the lake for excursions in the entire region (we have a car but public transportation is near-by. The embarking station for lake cruises is in front of the hotel). The hotel staff is very friendly, polylingual and helpful. The breakfast is excellent. The rooms are generous and well maintained.

Review 2：The room had tile floors which are a bit noisy from room to room and though the bathroom was large, the shower was not.

Review 3：My lake view room was spacious, clean, had a balcony and a bar fridge! There is an elevator which came in handy after the knee injury. I ate dinner in the restaurant once and the food was excellent. The included buffet breakfast was what you would expect: yoghurt, cereal, breads, cakes, croissants, ham, cheese, juice, fruit and hot beverage.

Review 5：Location is great. Parking in front of hotel. Ferry terminal in front of hotel. Rooms are spacious and comfortable, especially the one with lake view. Breakfast is also great. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

Review 9：From check in with Laura until check out all the staff we encountered were lovely. Our room 606 was stunning...fantastic view, great bed and good aircon with 3 sets of french doors onto our balcony. It was spotlessly clean, great shower and amazing towels...like tea towels but big and super absorbant. Great breakfast too! We would return in a heartbeat! Just book it and go!

Review 23：Beautiful location, very thoughtful and customer oriented staff, we booked the the quadrupla room which was on the 5th floor and the view from the terrace was absolutely stunning, the room included a king bed and 3 twins which were reachable by a staircase on an upper level.....would reccomend this hotel to everyone especially to families. We truly enjoyed our stay here!

Review 24：Location, good room and staff that focused on making our stay a pleasure . The hotel is located on the lake. The ferry terminal is 20m away and great restaurants are all around. On departure the receptionist asked us where we were headed-Lugano .next night we had an email from the Hotel saying thanks for staying with them and hoping we had a nice day in Lugano, nice touch!

Review 25：Disappointed with breakfast. We stayed 3 nights and had breakfast each morning. There was not enough staff, not enough food, plates and glasses were frequently unavailable. The breakfast rooms were very chaotic and no one knew what to do. Platters were empty, no juice available as jugs always empty, had to wait ages for staff to re-lay tables and go off to make coffee etc. need a self service hot drinks machine to speed it up and free up staff to refill breakfast rather than take hot drinks orders Hotel lacks proper bar/lounge area

The reception staff gave information on travel, places to visit and the restaurant staff were brilliant. The room was great with a super view of the lake. Review 40：Ideal location, literally just across the road from the lake ferry, welcoming and ever so friendly and helpful reception staff who spoke good English - and were also very happy to reply extra slowly when we tried out our Italian, super, spotlessly clean room with a huge double bed overlooking the lake and absolutely enormous breakfast buffet. What more can one ask for! If you go for a week consider buying a week's unlimited pass on the lake - it cost us €84 per person, covered the whole lake from Arona to Locarno and avoided having to buy tickets each time we took a ferry.

Review 41：did not get that perfect vibe. can not discribe it perfectly. staf was friendly but not very .breakfast was ok. but not perfect, a bit bussy and to much tables in 1 room. Hate to park outside and look for a place between the white line's :-(

Review 43：we were put in the next-door sister hotel - the larger Belverdere so didn't get what we ordered. Our visit coincided with a colourful but very noisy "Its-a-Knockout" type competition between neighbouring communities and our room on the top floor was an add-on and so wasn't as sound-proofed as the original rooms. Sound tannoy was deafening for 2 nights beyond 12pm.

Review 110：The breakfast is quite poor, and I don't really understand why they are not changing the Orange juice which is disgusting. All the customers complained about this. Just bill the room 5 more euros and buy some decent orange juice! The heating of the room is not optimal for those who are visiting there during the winter season.

Review 114：I participated in the Lago Maggiore Marathon on 20th of October. This hotel was perfectly located near the start and finish point in Verbania. The view over Lake Maggiore is beautiful and quiet. It was easy to reach and the boat boarding point is right in front. Staff was kind and responded to all requests. Breakfast was very good.

Review 115：The bed in the double room consisted on two single beds and they could not provide us with the other solution as based on their feedback they were fully booked. On the ground floor due to the restaurant you can smell the kitchen scents, but in the living floors this is not felt this way.

Review 116：The hotel is really facing the lake and the islands. It is conveniently placed around the area with some good restaurants, bars, etc. It is also just opposite to the dock for the ships to Borromeo islands. The rooms are spacious and the hotel staff is nice trying to provide advice and help and speaking English well. I have heard that they were speaking German as well. The big room had a very nice and big patio, while the small one had a very nice small balcony, which is not very functional, but still nice. The breakfast is good and if you ask for some extras (e.g. scrambled eggs) they are ready to give it to you. And the islands are beautiful - we were there the second time and we probably go again one day. Really worth visiting.

Review 117：It would have been very difficult to find a parking if we have not had a space reserved in the hotel car park.

Review 118：The location and the extremely friendly and helpful staff. There was a small issue with our room caused by a thunder storm - we mentioned this to a member of staff (Nicoletta?) at the reception who has solved the problem within minutes, gave us a new room and even found a space in the carpark for us. Everyone was fussing about our little one and helped us with the buggy. The rooms are very comfortable and we had a lovely breakfast next morning.

Review 119：Nothing whatsoever bad to report - the wifi even worked effectively in our bedroom - very good value for money.

Review 120：Well-situated close to the ferries for the Borromeian Islands and 20 metres form the shore of Lake Maggiore. We stayed in late August and were able to find free street parking (street parking in Verbania is a mixture of hourly and free) - helpful Receprion staff helped us find a spot. Room excellent value for money with AC. Breakfast reasonably good choice and nice, helpful staff. We only had time ot try one local restaraunt but thre does seem to be lots of choice locally.
