Reviews for Sedona Hotel Mandalay

Review 1:Breakfast nothing to get excited about but more than adequate. .. it wasn't a negative just not 10/10!

Review 2:Very westernized hotel in a fabulous locationclose to all major attractions in town

Review 3:It's a standard big hotel that could be anywhere In the world. Cold and big. With a souvenir shop and a cafe inside a ...luxury car dealership! We could not open the windows on beautiful warm but not hot or humid evenings (January). We were told mosquitoes would come in but at that level of a hotel you'd expect screens on the windows plus there weren't any mosquitoes at all during our nighttime walks and outdoor dining. There's also no place to dry your bathing suit. We were also unlucky that New Year's Eve festivities included a loud show for which the preparations lasted two days of which one closed the pool area.

Review 4:Big room with a a good view (but non-operable windows!). The location was good for us. It is not in the downtown where the market and better restaurants are but its location by the palace moat offers not only nice walks but also some respite from the dust and noise of the rest of the city. You can walk to the entrance to the palace (which is worth seeing despite what some guides say about it being fake). The marionette theater (again worth going to) is around the corner. In front of the theater there are lots of taxis which offer rides at 1/2 price of those offered through the hotel. We highly recommend a taxi driver called Mr Nyunt - 09-5123985 cc 3557 (I don't know what the cc is!). We were so impressed with his English and his knowledge of places and history during our first ride with him that we hired him for a full day at Sagaing, Amarapura and Inwa. Don't ask him to take you shopping. Good and varied breakfast though not as good as we had in Yangon and some of the items (sushi, and some d sum for instance) were leftovers from the buffet dinner of the eve.

Review 5:The hotel should distance themselves from private car rentals like Ponnie. He does not have a fair price for all his clients and is very greedy.

Review 6:all the staff very friendly and helpful. Specially their manager M/s Mon Mon who goes out of her way to assist her guest.

Review 7:Although the facilities of this hotel are five star, the whole experience wasn't. The poolside was quite dirty, with old chairs, and poor service, the breakfast was fine, but not great, and the room service food was slow and not that tasty. Overall, very expensive for the experience. Myanmar hotels are expensive, but this seemed more expensive than usual, given what we got, compared with our experiences in other parts of the country.

Review 8:The location next to the old Mandalay fort is fantastic, with a great outlook.

Review 9:The fact that we only stayed there one night and didn't have long enough to fully enjoy the hotel and the town!

Review 10:Everything. The staff were so helpful, nothing was too hard for them. Superb hotel!

Review 11:3 star room at best. It smelled so horribly foul and moldy that I asked for a different room for the first time in my life. Unfortunately they all smelled like that as there was something wrong with the air condition. bathroom is 20 years old. I am sorry but both other 4 star hotels in myanmar for less than half the price have been better

Review 12:view of the palace on some rooms service pool

Review 13:Can't get food service in the hotel bar, staffs said that if I want to eat I need to order room service and eat in my room only.

Review 14:Great Location with view of the Palace and Mandalay Hill.

Review 15:Cons: Conveyor toaster would not actually toast, only warm. Spaghetti served in the lobby bar was overcooked and internet in the room would work early in the am and sporadically after that. Wi-Fi in the lobby worked fine, but in this price range it shouldn’t be necessary to leave your room.

Review 16:The Sedona is a gem in a miasma of mediocre hotels. Its quiet elegance may not be the choice of travelers who only want the newest, but those who enjoy traditional comfort and a hospitable, friendly staff will be more than satisfied. This is my second stay and, while there are a few negatives (see below), my room was spacious, well-maintained and very comfortable. Breakfast was diverse and well-prepared, staff helpful, and the ambiance inviting.

Review 17:The hotel is essentially a business hotel with a number of tourists in it. By Myanmar's standards it is very good, although the bathrooms could do with an update. The pool and gym are good. Staff are very helpful and enthusiastic, but the hotel has an air of professionalism/distance that means it is all about business travellers. By any local measure the place is very very expensive.

Review 18:Not a great place if you want to stroll out of the hotel, need a taxi.

Review 19:Very helpful concierge. No problem getting driver for the day. Beautiful pool area.

Review 20:Lack of maintenance and simple things like varnishing the wood. Do appreciate the problems the country has but these aspects would not cost that much and for the price charged would have made for a better experience

Review 21:Staff and pool area

Review 22:They change the Wifi password daily but they neglected to inform us, so we wasted a lot of time trying to make our wifi work, which was frustrating. They noted the complaint & hopefully will inform all guests of their policy going forward.

Review 23:Lovely, helpful, eager to please staff. Our room overlooked the moat of the Old Palace grounds & it had an amazing view up towards Mandalay Hill.

Review 24:Wifi for a 5 start hotel should have been better.Initially we thought wasn't a problem since we are in Myanmar. But we stayed at many other hotels afterwards in Myanmar and many restaurants also had really good wifi compared to Sedona which was almost non existent.

Review 25:Super comfy beds, clean, good location

Review 26:Evening buffet outside for 50 guests with only 6 guests attending. Maybe a la carte in low season is a better choice to guarantee food is well cooked, kept hot,... to avoid food poisoning.

Review 27:The hotel was quiet, well located and the staff was very helpful.

Review 28:The food, despite being good value, was rather poor and the choice was somewhat limited. However, restaurants are in walking distance - or a cheap cab ride away.

Review 29:My teenage girls & I made good use of the pool facilities to relax in between organised activities, and generally had it all to ourselves. The front desk staff were very friendly & extremely helpful. The location is wonderful. We walked to Mandalay Hill, and to The Green Elephant Restaurant (highly recommended).

Review 30:the food is poor with little option. suggest that you do not choose the executive floor since the lounge has little to eat and they are put on the plate all day.

Review 31:the pool and garden is nice.

Review 32:Upon check in, i had pay all bill for room charge. Reception need 200 us dollar for deposit and charge to my debit card. She said after my check out within 7 days , the deposit will automatic cancel. But its not cancle, i try to contact but not received any answer

Review 33:Nothing

Review 34:The staff are outstanding. There was 5 star service from check-in staff, concierge, house maids and restaurant personnel. Location, location, opposite the walled Old Palace complex. Guests booking on-line appear to get preferential treatment to the Tour Groups. eg automatic upgrade in my case to the Executive floor and services. Now able to pay with Visa / Mastercard, new in last 6 months, previously only in new, crisp US currency notes.

Review 35:The friendly helpful staff and great food and Bev

Review 36:Service not so efficiency in restaurant on lunch time.

Review 37:Comfortable staying.

Review 38:Charging for water bottle at the breakfast ,food are not that good Will like to see more Burmese food offer at breakfast

Review 39:Internet connection was very bad. Food at the restaurants

Review 40:Facilities i liked the most

Review 41:Breakfast could be better but it was fine

Review 42:Nice Pool Area

Review 43:Pool large and clean . Large and clean room .

Review 44:Internet in room was spotty. In the lobby it always worked. Not ok in this price range.

Review 45:An attractive, upscale hotel with a super friendly staff.

Review 46:The Italian restaurant Umo served food which was a huge disappointment

Review 47:The staff is pleasant and helpful and the hotel is in a good location

Review 48:Good location and service

Review 49:Only one; having to leave.

Review 50:Location was perfect, staff helpful and very friendly. Rooms very comfortable.

Review 51:Very good hôtel for this country. Very good staff!

Review 52:Slow stuff, Hotel need refurbishment, no big selection at the Breakfast, Food at the Restaurant taste old.

Review 53:wifi

Review 54:Staff

Review 55:Pool could have had umbrellas ,not much shade.

Review 56:Got an upgrade to executive floor With high tea .staff great.cleanliness.

Review 57:- airco - wifi - price to quality ratio

Review 58:- executive lounge; especially personnel

Review 59:Maintenance work from 8am till 8pm not mentioned by booking.com or by the hotel until check in.

Review 60:asked me to pay in full +us $100 as deposit for minibar. When l insisted that is not a deposit but full payment n wanted to block amount on my credit card, receptionist was dumbfounded n had to refer to manager.Check in took 1/2hr! on check out , front desk did not know how to void credit card payment after l settled in cash! Matter unresolved as l had to rush off yo catch plane.Staff referring to manual as she struggled with credit card machine ! waiting for refund to my card.

Review 61:staff generally tried to assist but lacks initiative.

Review 62:Being one of the best hotels in Mandalay, it could provide some tourist information upon check-in e.g. general orientation of the hotel in terms of its location and points of interests, a map etc.

Review 63:The newly renovated rooms were homely and the bed was comfortable. The entire hotel is spacious and bright. The breakfast buffet spread was inviting and the dishes on the ala carte menu were yummy (but could be less salty, oily and pricey). What's special is they provided desserts on my first night of stay (was awaiting one the second night but nothing came :()

Review 64:For the amount of money, it is not worth. Inside restaurant is terrible. Room is clean, but very old. Hotel is under renovation, but they cannot charge pretending to be a five stars hotel, when they cannot offer such a service.

Review 65:Staff. People are nice as always in myanmar, very kind.

Review 66:The mosquitos in the garden area.

Review 67:Excellent front desk and concierge; very knowledgable. Arranged reasonable priced taxi for a day's sightseeing. Good travel desk for local flights and reduced rate at next hotel up country. Nice outdoor area, including large and clean pool. Need to spray against mosquitos, bit that was our only feedback.

Review 68:Outrageously priced. Booking is presenting it as a 5 stars hotel when is , unrealistically, rated 4 stars We booked a suite for 422 dollars which was worth 100 dollars max. Breakfast like in Eastern Europe in the 70's. Booking should not accept to sell reap off of this type

Review 69:Location

Review 70:Professional staff and really informative.

Review 71:No Direct landline telephone connection. Poor wifi connection

Review 72:View to royal palace from room window

Review 73:Wi fi intermittent in the bedrooms.

Review 74:Staff were professional, accomodating and the service was excellent. Location couldn't have been better.

Review 75:the foods

Review 76:At this price it should be!

Review 77:It was quiet,peaceful & relaxing
