Reviews for Europalace Hotel
Review 1:- the owners are a very nice and welcoming family - the 17th century "stube" - breakfast was very nice, and included some products grown on the property
Review 2:Overlooking lake, superb views, comfortable room, excellent breakfast buffet, and good choice for dinner in restaurant, helpful staff - couldn't be better
Review 3:difficult to find parking. WIFI did often not work. However, sometimes the kids actually could stream video from YouTube! It is not often this is possible in hotels. The hotel is old, but we knew this, and it had its charm. But do not expect luxury.
Review 4:Big rooms, beautiful view of the lake from 3rd floor, great location, good price given the value.
Review 5:The staff was like robots, more eager to finish their jobs than to serve their guests well. Don,t take half board, it,s not worth it.
Review 6:Location is good. The room was spacious and clean
Review 7:No Air Condition, so had to sleep with windows open, often being awaken by motorcycles passing by.
Review 8:Great breakfast, friendly and helpful staff, amazing location, clean hotel.
Review 9:No air conditioning, furniture a bit too old. Not really a bargain for what you pay. Would expect a 3-star rating, certainly not a 4-star.
Review 10:Location, location, location
Review 11:As is standard in much of Europe, no shower curtain, but this is just nitpicking. The place was great.
Review 12:The view of the lake was amazing! The breakfast was also very nice.
Review 13:Staff polite but not overly helpful (I wanted to get a massage and they had no suggestions ... the internet came to my rescue). Room was initially very cold but did warm up once we'd worked out the temperature control.
Review 14:Large airy room with lake views. Open in January (many locally aren't). Free parking opposite (though i think that in summer it may be difficult to find a space!). Breakfast good with lots of choice.
Review 15:Reception manager was quite rude when arrived. Road was closed when trying to get to the hotel from Switzerland so had to retrace steps and travel the other way around the lake and then take a ferry, adding 2-3 hours to the trip. It would have been helpful for the hotel to inform its guests that one of the only two routes to the hotel was inaccessible. Extra two beds for teenage kids were a couch and a small stretcher bed- not comfortable for older kids with long legs.
Review 16:Very big room Good wifi
Review 17:A little bit of noise from the road in the morning. Staff is standard, may be they could slightly improve their collaborative aptitude
Review 18:The location in front of Lago Maggiore is wonderful, and very near to the heaven of Pallanza. Breakfast is good, and the rooms with a lot of space
Review 19:A little "tired" hotel A teakettle would have been very good, family with small children do not go out late, so a cup tea/coffee would have been nice Room could need an update
Review 20:View from the room (only standing though) First line to the water Nice breakfast family rooms were very big Well placed in town
Review 21:The hotel seems run down. The room was stinky. No air conditioning or at least not functioning. We were next to the stairs so many noisy guests passed our room, disturbing rest and sleep. The room was most basic and boring. They could spend some money and hang a frame, place a desk and a chair. I don't know where they got their stars but they should not have them. We stay for the same rate at much better hotels. I hope the owners, who are kind and hard working, will improve, clean and update the hotel.
Review 22:The staff was very friendly and hard working. I applaud them. The location was great. We were just there for an overnight stay but enjoyed being by the lake and the little town.
Review 23:The hotel is a bit dated and can certainly benefit from a face lift.
Review 24:Very nice location on Lake Maggiore, with a breathtaking view. Friendly and helpful staff. Definitely good value.
Review 25:Check-in staff could have been friendlier and a bit more helpful; later staff were excellent.
Review 26:The perfect location! On the water, with views from our window to the Alps and lake. Gracious rooms -- tall ceilings, spacious feel.
Review 27:We reserved a 4 person room, and would have like to have had 4 beds. But only got 1 real double bed, 1 pull-out bed and 1 portable bed. But the beds were comfortable enough.
Review 28:Great location. Across the street from the ferries. Helpful staff.
Review 29:Rooms are extremely cold during the night due to heating being turned off.
Review 30:Breakfast was tragic. Some of the food looked like waiting for us 3 days...
Review 31:Good food on dinner.
Review 32:The view from the window
Review 33:location view lake place to parking a car
Review 34:The lake view
Review 35:Great place, beautiful location.
Review 36:Good location
Review 37:Parking can be an issue in the area
Review 38:- No air conditioner !!!!! it was really hot - old hotel
Review 39:- staff was really nice - nice breakfast
Review 40:No Air Condition
Review 41:Nice Hotel . Good personal
Review 42:The good Location, the good hotel staff, the nice big room, free partking.nice breakfast
Review 43:No air conditioning. Very hot at night especially.
Review 44:The views from the bedroom were spectacular. Hotel is old but with a fair amount of charm.
Review 45:Lack of shower curtain
Review 46:Location, spacious family rooms
Review 47:Decor is a little dated, but clean.
Review 48:Staff is very helpful and friendly, location is brilliant and breakfast is very nice - with a lot of choice.
Review 49:Hotel needs renovation.
Review 50:Location of the hotel and the good meal at its restaurant.
Review 51:Nice place with beautiful view near important place for the tourist. Very good staff that help us with any questions.
Review 52:A nice clean and vintage, as it takes you to the 80s, hotel! Very welcoming staff.
Review 53:Good quality food in restaurant for dinner. Wide range at breakfast. Personnel helpful.
Review 54:some guest were really noisy
Review 55:very nice staff location directly near the lake the variety of breakfast buffet
Review 56:Room was a bit empty
Review 57:The location The breakfast
Review 58:When you serve lobster, please remove the tomalley, not everybody likes it.
Review 59:Excellent hotel, excellent breakfast, excellent cuisine.
Review 60:Bathroom could be renewed
Review 61:View to Garda lake Big rooms Breakfast was good
Review 62:Poor/slow Wi-Fi in the rooms.
Review 63:Great value for money in excellent position.
Review 64:Low prices, nice hotel. Room was large and clean. Parking was available near the hotel. Friendly staff. Breakfast was okay.
Review 65:Public parking. But, if you wait, you can get a free space when people drive away after disembarking from the boat shuttle.
Review 66:Very large rooms with a great view. Attentive staff. Probably the best buffet breakfast we've had in a hotel. Varied and delicious. Good night's sleep.
Review 67:Breakfast menu looks quite poor, there were no hot dishes despite winter.
Review 68:Despite our late arrival at night, we got a room in 5 minutes. The room was pretty big, clean, cute and with amazing view to the Lake Maggiore. It was winter, but the room was very warm and we didn't feel cold. Location is truly perfect - beautiful lake just in front, 1 minute walk from the boat station.
Review 69:Everything was very good ,The gentleman at the reception desk was very polite and willing to help us .The breakfast was excellent . thank you very much
Review 70:There was nothing I didn't like but the only small thing I would have liked was tea and coffee in the room.we asked if they had a kettle but the didn't so that was the only thing I missed was not being able to make a drink in my room when I got in. And no shower curtain so the floor got wet every time you had one, but that's no big problem, just had to be careful when getting out.
Review 71:The size of the bed was amazing! It was 6ft so loads of space and really comfortable.the room had excellent heating which as we were going at Christmas I was concerned about that, but it was lovely and warm all the time. Had a great view over the lake too. It was the same staff all the time at breakfast so they got to know what drinks you liked and brought them straight to you.
Review 72:In this nearly empty hotel in December, we were given a room with an adjoining single room which was occupied. The thin interconnecting door afforded no sound-proofing, and we shared a restless night with our neighbour! The Manager was disinterested in our complaint next day. The room allocation was obviously to suit the convenience of the hotel staff, rather than the customer. We will not return.
Review 73:The hotel is located on the beach of Lago Magore, managed and operated by a friendly family, and the service is very good. The décor of the hotel and the room is a bit “oldish”, but well preserved and clean. We came in Sep 30, (out of season) and received a very big room, I estimate as it as 50 square meters! Our room was on the 4th floor with lake view, in the first and second floors the trees are blocking most of the lake view. The bad is big and comfortable, there is a small flat TV, but no safe and no minibar. The bathroom is also big; the bath has a rain type shower, but no hand shower. The water pressure was not too strong. Breakfast was good but diner was great, they have really good food in their restaurant.
Review 74:There is a pier 100m from the hotel, but if you are going to the Borromeo islands (a must see if you are in Verbania) it is recommended to take the boat from Stresa pier (~20 minutes drive from the Hotel).
Review 75:Staff being rude and not helpful at all. We had a problem and the staff said it was not their problem, so we went to another hotel where we did not even stay and asked the reception there to help us, which she gladly did.
Review 76:The location of the hotel
Review 77:Our room were on the topfloor, hot summer and no air condition - almost impossible to slepp, only one fan ( for two rooms) and we had to ask for it...
Review 78:location by the beutyful lake were great, didnt have much time to explore the town but it seemed to be a really nice place to spend a few days! Breakfast were not splendid but okey!
Review 79:The hotel's website photos do not match at all the reality. Everything is very old, no air conditioning and smell of mold. Very serious parking problem!
Review 80:Nice staff, good breakfast, great location, beautiful town
Review 81:Air-conditioning and fridge would make this hotel even more attractive.
Review 82:Close to lake and city. Very decent prices and large room. Really great breakfast.
Review 83:I would have liked to have air condition, the rooms got very warm
Review 84:Nice atmosphere, good location, very clean (and nice towels!), helpful staff, good breakfast
Review 85:Free Parking was very difficult to find. Would have preferred to have been informed of the problem and additional costs beforehand.
Review 86:The large, airy room, great shower, close to the lake and ferry. Having breakfast was also a bonus.
Review 87:hotel has known better times in spite of some renovations. Bath with rainshower is a disaster. Airconditioning doesn't work. in high season almost impossible to find a public parking space.
Review 88:magnificent view on lake and mountains fromour balcony Very large bedroom and good beds
Review 89:Parking was free in the sense that there was no parking in the hotel at all, free was refered to public parking spaces which were most of time occupied. This is a incorrect advertising of a service.
Review 90:Price/performance is ok. Three star rating is a little high.
Review 91:Logging on to WiFi was sometimes difficult but once connected it was excellent.
Review 92:Our room overlooking the lake was enormous, bed very comfy, breakfast excellent, location first rate -- in a lovely village with easy access to all Lake Maggiore has to offer.
Review 93:Rooms were dated and carpet had some staining.
Review 94:Lakefront location, large rooms, great value for money, close proximity to ferry, friendly staff, breakfast.
Review 95:We'd have loved a minibar fridge and a kettle in the room.
Review 96:The location is fabulous, and the corner room we had was enormous with a lovely (albeit small) balcony overlooking the lake.
Review 97:Nothing. I think, price could be a little bit lower at low season time.
Review 98:Everything ok, good breakfast, WiFi is working very good in rooms. Beautiful view from window (lakeside room, 3rd floor), good location. All facilities in good conditions. You can park car around hotel for free.
Review 99:Quite frankly, given the price, there really is nothing to complain about.
Review 100:Super positive experience. This is not a Best Western or Scandic hotel - and thank God for that. Rather, this is one of these old time hotels with atmosphere, rustic (but well managed) settings, super nice personal owners and employees. Furthermore; do make sure you eat at their restaurant - it is remarkably good and price-worthy... as is their breakfast buffet. We will be back for sure.
Review 101:Too far from home in West Australia to stay as often as I would like.
Review 102:Very comfortable large room with lovely little covered balconyoverlooking magnolia trees & Lake Maggiore.Very friendly helpful English speaking staff. Nice restaurant with nice buffet breakfast. Low charges for overnight, many drinks & dinner plus breakfast was a delightfully pleasant surprise.
Review 103:Its location was excellent. The lake views were gorgeous. The rooms were an ample size. The breakfast was varied and plenty would keep you going for the day. It would suit a family, solo traveller, group or couple.
Review 104:Two twins..not exactly the same height..does not a Queen make. My sidewas comfy..hubbys was not.
Review 105:The view! All I can say is that between that water/moutain view and thesize of the room, we are already planning a return trip. The bathroom ishuge by any standards..but for Europe..WOW! The staff went out of theirway to be friendly; sincerely nice people, rare for tourist weary Italy.
Review 106:Bathroom had no shower curtain screen - tiled floor extraordinarily slippery when wet!
Review 107:Location near Pallanza ferry pier. Very helpful staff. Reasonable breakfast included. Family suite. Views.
Review 108:Nothing to do with the hotel, this is a strange resort, with not many shops. We looked all over for a newsagent/drinks shop, and ended up buying all drinks from bars for the room (bottles of water etc.) There are plenty of places to eat on the front, just no shops!
Review 109:We love that we were right on the lake front, and on the 4th floor had a perfect view. The room was large, and very clean. A bit old in decor (check out the 80's bathroom!!) but perfectly useable.
Review 110:No shower curtains so the bathroom was flooded every day, however careful you were.
Review 111:Wonderful helpful polite staff, very intimate hotel, huge rooms, beautiful location very close to ferries, bars restaurants.
Review 112:The balcony was only big enough for one chair. Only the end rooms have larger ones. The decor was a bit 80's!
Review 113:The hotel staff were friendly and very attentive. The views are wonderful. We paid for lakeview with balcony and well worth the extra. The rooms ar big and comfortable and the breakfasts are the best in Italy! We also managed to get free parking right outside hotel.
Review 114:No air-coniditioning. Also we had a very similar room to our friends who were paying much less than us.
Review 115:Very central. Staff friendly. Views from room amazing.
Review 116:The staff was not very friendly but ok. Parking could be a problem on a busy day.
Review 117:It was very well situated, located in a nice area, right across magnolia trees and the lake. The breakfast was ok.
Review 118:No airconditioning available...!!!! Room was very warm.
Review 119:When we had to change the number of days, the hotel showed very friendly and flexible. Lake view from the front side is very nice. Close to beach and pool (10 min walking)
Review 120:it was fine.
Review 121:Quite a basic hotel in need of renovation. Staff were friendly and lent me an adaptor. Our room as huge and had a sea view. Location is excellent, the town was pretty and there was free parking outside the hotel.
Review 122:The breakfast was good but there were to many people and too little roomfor a buffet. There is no swimming pool or beach at/near the hotel whichyou might expect based on the hotel description
Review 123:We had a nice big room with a view of the lake. It was big enough forthe four of us. The ferry to the lakes is right next door.
Review 124:Had to be a bit wary of young kids on balcony - they were big enough notto be able to fall out, but next door balcony was accessible from ours(if you were small), and so was wary of losing them to next door (theycould get through, but would have been a squeeze for me to chase afterthem!)! As always, tea/coffee facilities in room would be an advantage(they don't seem to do this through Europe?) Air con would also havebeen nice as it was pretty hot and a little noisy if balcony doors leftopen. English wasn't very strong at front desk. Breakfast also not ourstyle - not alot of good cereal options; milk not cold. Lots of sweetsweet pastries & cakes and savoury things like fried fish!!
Review 125:Location for price was amazing!! Right across from the lake - was soimpressed with location!! Room was also large - which was great to have'space' with 2 young kids!
Review 126:1. Please pay your attention that there are NO AIR-CONDITIONS in Europalace hotel. 2. There are no refrigerators in rooms.
Review 127:1. Comfortabe room with beautiful view on the lake. 2. Varied breakfast menu. It is suitable both for Italian and French who prefer to have continental breakfast and for Swiss, German and Russian who like to eat a little more than a buiscuit and coffe for breakfast. 3. Friendly and helpful staff.
Review 128:The hotel is located right by the lake shore at the edge of the old town of Verbania Intra, just outside the busy restaurant area on the main square. The building is a good example for the historic seaside hotel which in its prime would probably have been considered luxurious. Today, it does however look a bit run down in parts, but it's just the kind of charm that we were looking for. We were warmly welcomed by the receptionist, who went out of his way to tell us about the town. Also, we had booked the last available quadruple room despite the fact that there was just 2 of us, which when we checked-in was changed to a double room at at more reasonable rate. Buffet breakfast was good and abundant.
Review 129:Room was spacious, staff was friendly and helpfull. As we we travelling with our two dogs it was nice to see that pets we truly accepted in the hotel. Location is perfect and breakfast was good value for the money
Review 130:The blankets, towels and linen have definetly seen better times.
Review 131:The price is very attractive. Breakfast included in the price was nice. Its location is very convenient (close to Pallanza 'port'). Easy to find. We arrived at 11.00 a.m. on Saturday and there was no problem to check in earlier than claimed.
