Reviews for Podollan Inn & Spa - Grande Prairie
Review 1:Terrible hallway noise. I was awake from 1200 to 4:00 am because of people probably returning from local bars and being loud in the hallway. There seemed to be a constant stream of noise every few minutes.
Review 2:Excellent breakfast Very clean Nice hotel
Review 3:When we checked in the Wifi in the room was not working so they upgraded us to an executive suite with Wifi. It was very nice. We had supper at the hotel and enjoyed it thoroughly. The steaks were done perfectly.
Review 4:We really liked this hotel. I like the fact that they have a spa on location. Free breakfast is always a bonus. We used to always stay with BW but after our stay at the Podollan have changed our preferred hotel to this one
Review 5:Wifi didn't work. Called front desk and they said to unplug for 5 minutes or so and try again and if that didn't work they would have IT come check it out. It still didn't work but we didn't bother to call for IT has we wanted to relax and not be bothered.
Review 6:Full bathroom and excellent breakfast!
Review 7:From the outside, the hotel looked like it was still under construction. Had a major snow dump that night and it was difficult to navigate through the parking lot.
Review 8:The staff at the front desk were great to deal with, even with the late check in. The room was great and I would love to stay there again
Review 9:Excellent location, under-ground parking, restaurant on site, hot breakfast included with fresh omellettes on demand by chef, excellent modern and clean room, bed very comfortable and quiet
Review 10:Dark in bathroom. Needs more lighting. Exterior light outside our room. Venetian blinds didn't block out light - need black out curtains.
Review 11:Location & value. Free breakfast was a nice perk.
Review 12:Road outside was noisy and plane woke me up once.
Review 13:Beds are always great, breakfast is excellent, and rooms are very private with double wall construction between rooms.
Review 14:Would have liked to be able to enter with my key from the outside door rather than walking around to the front desk each time, especially when my room was far away from the desk area.
Review 15:The beds and bathroom were amazing. Loved the pillows Quiet rooms
Review 16:The cost is still very high. Even with booking.com's deal the suite was $169.99/night. I think at most
Review 17:The breakfast buffet that's included with your stay is definitely 4.5 out of 5 stars. Great selection of delicious food paired with GREAT staff and service in the restaurant!! Try the chocolate chip pancakes!!!
Review 18:The front desk staff were very welcoming upon our arrival. Everyone, including the many cleaning staff we encountered, always smiled and spoke to us to say hello and say "Have a nice day." The FREE breakfast was so much better than any of the many chain hotels we've stayed at.
Review 19:The fridge was way to small and there was no hooks in the bathroom to hang your towel, clothes or an other housecoat.
Review 20:The executive suite was great with an awesome bathroom
Review 21:The location was right across from the college which was perfect because that was where we were meeting. I liked the secure wifi and especially LOVED the tub! The room was great.
Review 22:Extremely HOT in the hallway to our room. My fault for not requesting a closer room.. My wife has MS and we were in room 247. The distance and heat were very fatiguing so I asked if there was a wheelchair available for use in the hotel. There was not. Some establishments often have one available for this purpose. Would have been nice if the room was darker at night.
Review 23:Underground Parking Complimentary Breakfast Shower Bed and bedding were good
Review 24:Very beautiful place. Friendly and helpful staff. We were very impressed with the large bathroom and nice note from housekeeping. Complimentary breakfast was amazing!
Review 25:We had booked a spa treatment for my girlfriend and myself...she went to grab some thing from the room after spending half an hour in the sauna and then while I stayed in the sauna she was to be getting a facial treatment.. The hotel elevator malfunctioned and wouldn't let her out. After a few minutes or so when she was able to get the door opten and take the stairs the spa staff then denied her her treatment! This was at the start of the long weekend and I have no doubt that the staff was more keen to get out to get drunk than to go above and beyond for your clients paying for treatments in your hotel after your hotel elevator traps her...truly disappointed
Review 26:The room thermostat didn't seem to work properly. Room was very hot and we couldn't get it to cool off
Review 27:Desk staff were excellent. Very personable and helpful
Review 28:the hotel is very clean, new and comfortable The staff were all very friendly, cheery and helpful - especially with the excellent complimentary breakfast
Review 29:I really liked the rooms, but the hallways were narrow and dark. I would suggest a lighter color of carpet or more lighting.
Review 30:Staff was really friendly and helpful. They acknowledged your presence. The restaurant was excellent, coffee was great. Having the spa in the hotel is an excellent idea and my experience there was great.
Review 31:Not the fault of the staff (who were excellent) or hotel but this was a newish and relatively upscale building and workmanship was shoddy. Not really an issue yet but will be in a couple of years time. Hopefully they can find better workmen to repair and maintain it than built it.
Review 32:Very good price on a suite which accomodated 4 adults. Living room area was fairly small. Bathroom was huge. Bedroom was good size. Newer building. Staff were really great - very accommodating for my daughter's many and serious allergies - cooked up meals just for her.
Review 33:We were on a family holiday and needed to overnight in Grande Prairie. Podollan was perfect- room was excellent, bed was fantastic and the room quiet.Breakfast included was excellent with omelettes, hot breakfast or the usual cereal. We would definitely stay here again.
Review 34:We stayed in a king sized suite for 3 nights. Accommodation was most satisfactory except for one thing. There were no drawers to put clothes in.
Review 35:The front desk staff were amazing. Greeted us by name each morning!
Review 36:The workout facilities were terrible. You should be allowed to call that a gym
Review 37:Great room, staff, and wifi was nice and fast as compared with most hotels
Review 38:Nothing - all good!
Review 39:What a great we had?! Lovely hotel - spotlessly clean, really luxurious, great service, fancy room, good food too! Top marks - totally exceeds expectation. Will never stay anywhere else in GP again!
Review 40:Wanted to order a Irish coffee made with decaf coffee but waitress said they didn't want to brew a pot just for our order. So we chose not to have a coffee.
Review 41:Hear traffic from room. It is difficult to get a good people person for an early morning shift - I hope Tatyana grows comfortable with the omelet station and learns to make this neat feature an impeccable and memorable experience for future guests - needs to find a way to remember ingredient choices in a fun way. Wished there were communal facilities to use (ie. Hot tub, sauna, gym, reading nook by a fireplace); felt stuck in room, as paying to use spa only other option noted in handbook for inn.
Review 42:It's location is near major highway crossroads; easy to locate. Otherwise, room and floor were quiet. Facilities are well done, and the property is currently expanding. Employees make an extra effort to ensure you have no issues. Very Clean!
Review 43:There was a line on the final invoice labeled "Utility Fee" or something similar. I hate being nickeled and dimed. I'd have rather this been included in the room rate and not itemized. The clerk did remove it on checkout after I quizzed her and she couldn't explain why it was there or what it was for.
Review 44:The jacuzzi suite was awesome! :) I really like the fact there is a router in every room. This provides best security and most reliable WiFi.
Review 45:From the moment I walked in the customer service that I received at the front desk and at Jax's was exceptional! Friendly, helpful staff that went above and beyond, which I find to be a rarity now a days. Clean and comfortable rooms, with a outstanding continental breakfast (an omelette station and bacon and sausage to boot!) The location of the hotel is also close (walking distance) to many other shops and restaurants. I will definitely stay here next time I am in Grande Prairie!
Review 46:Beds were disappointing. They felt worn and a bit saggy. Our daughter slept on the pull out sofa bed and that was horrible. The rooms have no dresser drawers. The fitness room is small with only 3 pieces of cardio equipment.
Review 47:Great breakfasts. Nice large bathrooms with great showers and separate toilet area. Two tv's in the executive suite. Nice to have a fridge and microwave. Free hot Starbucks coffee that is always available. Good location. Loved the plush robes.
Review 48:We understand facilities may need to charge for additional cleaning for a pet, however, it should be a one time charge, not per day.
Review 49:The staff was friendly and we enjoyed the breakfast.
Review 50:What I didn't really like is the bikers, loud roaring engines roaring by, and with no AC, we had our windows open which made it even worse!
Review 51:I loved the jacuzzi and the bathroom! Also the underground parking and short walk to our room!
Review 52:We were on the very top floor and the elevator was broken all weekend long. When they asked how my stay was I told them it was great except for having to up and down 4 flights of stairs everytime we wanted to go somewhere. The front clerk gave me a small discount for the inconvience which was nice. Other then that it was a great stay.
Review 53:The staff was helpful and polite
Review 54:There was a power outage in the morning - shortly before 8am I think. Noone can help a power outage, that's life. What was a cause forconcern was the emergency lighting. I stayed on the second floor - onlyone emergency light in the hallway so it was quite dark. One Stairwayhad a sign "use other stairway" but the further down the hallI went to find the other stairway, the darker it got. The emergency exitsign wasn't working, there was no emergency lighting elsewhere onthe second floor. When I found the stairway it was pitch black - thankgoodness for the guy behind me who had a cell phone to light the way. When I came back upstairs, all the emergency lighting went out - blackeverywhere. Not a good thing for a hotel! For the most part the staffwere helpful - seemed like all staff were a bit flustered and there wasno "smooth" flow to the "situation". Since wecouldn't have breakfast (included in the room price) or a shower, Iwas surprised there was no offer of a discount. I was still charged thefull rate. That part was disappointing.
Review 55:The bed was fabulous
Review 56:Too many un-glazed windows for the ground floor, including the bathroom. TV's are small and HD is well, not HD. The entrance is not clearly marked and the parking lot, above ground, needs work.
Review 57:Nice restaurant (Jax) good food and great service. Room was very clean.
Review 58:Our first room had holes in the walls and black mould growing on the outside of the shower( no tub) second room, had tub and shower but two double beds, (had asked for two queens). Very stark uninviting decor. Not sure if I would stay there again.
Review 59:The food in the restaurant and staff there were excellent! When we asked for a different room the staff were again excellent.
Review 60:The staff was wonderful, our room was great, the breakfast amazing! All around a pleasant stay. If I were travelling again to GP I would stay again. I would also refer this to anyone requiring a stay over in the city.
Review 61:Our room was NOT clean, the bed and pillows were very uncomfortable to the point where we actually left at 1:00am to go home to our bed, and the front desk clerk did not inform us of any information that was of importance. Not worth it for $200 a night!!!
Review 62:Honestly the only thing we liked was the free wifi and (somewhat) large bath tub, that's it.
Review 63:The window only had shutters, which allowed light into the room. I would suggest black out blinds.
Review 64:The complimentary breakfast was the best we've ever had. The service staff at the restaurant on site provided superior service.
Review 65:Had the window open a bit for some fresh air. A busy road beside our room, a little noisy but not bad.
Review 66:The hotel is clean, nicely decorated and the staff is friendly. The room we stayed in was nice, the bed was comfortable, washroom luxurious.
Review 67:The ceiling in the bathroom of room 541 was patched and there was no closet to hang up your coat.
Review 68:Comfortable bed, underground heated packing, hot breakfast included in room cost which included made-to-order omelet.
Review 69:Elevators were not working properly all week. Internet at hotel was out for 2 nights so I couldn't get work done.
Review 70:The staff in the hotel restaurant in the morning was very good!
Review 71:Stayed here about a year ago and noted considerable deterioration in general condition of room. Someone relieved themselves without flushing, no water in room, desk staff didn't know where ice machine was, hallways were filthy. Likely won't stay again.
Review 72:Décor was nicely done. Service in restaurant much improved. Heated underground parking an asset in winter.
Review 73:Although the towels were huge likwe most women I use an extra towel for my hair so ask for a extra one there was just 2 .
Review 74:Loved the staff the bed was amazing and the breakfast was awesome .Will always stay there from now on :)
Review 75:Staff at the front desk were extremely pleasant and helpful to deal with. Room was amazing and bed was really comfortable. The bartender at Jax was great as well!!
Review 76:Room was hot, window was nearly impossible to open also needed a wedge to keep open, a tip that had been scribbled out then zeroed due to using cash instead was still going to be added to the final bill
Review 77:Room was clean, free breakfast was fantastic, elevators were fast, staff were all very friendly
Review 78:The underground parking was like driving into the Bates Motel! Some kind of wooden partition was built across the parking area by the elevator. There was so much junk piled up, house keeping carts and a couple of other cart full of junk. It looked like something out of a bad movie. I felt like I was going to be mugged before I got to the elevator. Very sad for a room of that cost
Review 79:hotel in general was great.
Review 80:No restaurant on site for minors - most standard rooms now come with a microwave, surprised there was none for price we were paying. (asked and finally one was found that worked). Room temp too hot - thermostat not working. Light bulb missing. Parking lot very icy.
Review 81:Staff did accommodate requests.
Review 82:NO POOL, FITNESS ROOM WAS BELOW AVERAGE.
Review 83:DECENT HOTEL IN GP FOR THE PRICE. UNDERGROUND PARKING LIMITED STALLS BUT VERY NICE IN THE MIDDLE OF WINTER. GOOD BREAKFAST
Review 84:Had to catch an early morning flight, appreciated the close proximity to the airport, the heated underground parking, and our meal at Jax was very good. The staff looked after all our needs graciously.
Review 85:Noisy room.(requested a quiet room when booking online).Doors didn't close correctly. Main door was really hard to open. French doors into bedroom didn't close. Found a used bandaid on bedroom floor. Room just felt cheap.
Review 86:Bed was comfortable.
Review 87:The staff and service was exceptional . The room was comfortable. The complimentary breakfast had a large variety and was delicious. I can't wait to go and stay again. Hopefully there will be opening at the spa. It also looks amazing
Review 88:Parking is coming, abit crammed right now, but all good.
Review 89:We have stayed here about 3 times in past 3-4 months. Handy location, can expect the same quality service/accommodation every time. Always consistent & friendly. Jax lounge nice for a night cap & great breakfast buffet is included.
Review 90:Hotel location was excellent, close to major intersection but the room was very quiet. King size room was large and clean, and the WiFi worked well. The breakfast was included in the price and it was a hot healthy breakfast. The heated underground parking, also included, was a real treat as there was a snow storm that night.
Review 91:Nothing
Review 92:Rooms new and clean gave us an upgrade as my wife was very tired and wanted a jacuzzi bath We were recommended by a relative that stayed a couple of nights before she was also upgraded and appreciated it as much as we did we booked on line and had no problems breakfast was great underground heated parking a bonus
Review 93:I did not know how to control the heat which to me was too hot to sleep.
Review 94:I like the comfortable room. I liked the bar on the main floor. I liked that it was so easy to book on line to get the best economic deal.
Review 95:The bed really really sucked!!! The parking is lacking for space, that's also really annoying. For the money that we had to spend I've stayed in a lot better for a lot less.
Review 96:The free breakfast, and the staff that we delt with were good.
Review 97:We booked an executive suite, and the room had very small windows and lacked visual appeal. The cleanliness of the room was lacking, The bathroom wall had black fingerprints on it behind the tub, there was used nail clippers on the window ledge, and food crumbs on the box spring of the mattress underneath the headboard. The bed/sheets itself was clean but the mattress was so hard it felt like I was sleeping on a table
Review 98:-Underground parking -Nice little restaurant attached to the hotel- AMAZING service at the restaurant and good food/continental breakfast -Big bathrooms with double sinks
Review 99:Nothing stands out for a dislike of my room. Small inconvenience of limited free/unused plug-in outlets.
Review 100:I enjoyed the larger stand alone shower. Loved the king size bed. Staff were very helpful and did their best to accomidate my concerns or needs. Been the middle of a snow storm, was nice to find covered parking (even though the highest point of my truck was 9 feet high).
Review 101:-TV, could not order and watch any movies, limited channel selection
Review 102:-Fantastic room -Very Clean -Comfortable bed, even the pull out bed - Great Bathroom facilities
Review 103:The lobby area was very cold. There was a fireplace ther that was never turned on. Our bed in the room was the most uncomfortable I have ever slept on. We were in room 127, the windows were too small. During the night someone was vacuuming the hallway, they might as well been in our room. It was too loud to sleep
Review 104:The staff was courteous and was very friendly.
Review 105:no pool or hot tub or sauna unless you paid for it. For the price we paid I feel there should have been more offered.
Review 106:how friendly everyone was especially with our little one. Love the room set up.
Review 107:None
Review 108:Our king suite room was awesome! Has big bathroom/ shower, clean, soft linen, has a separate master bedroom for privacy, 2 tv,friendly staff, awesome free hot breakfast.Ibjk will definitely come back.
Review 109:Sparse room. No tub. Shiny tiles in the bathroom bathroom are a hazard for elderly and small children, could easily slip on a wet surface. Workmanship is poor in the finishes. The bathroom mirror is tiny. We travel alot and this was the not value for the money. The no tub was a big issue.
Review 110:Good breakfast !
Review 111:Only thing I can comment on is the gym. Should have an appropriate bench and a little bit more equipment. But nothing else negative to say.
Review 112:Great staff Very clean and spacious room. Stayed in a king suite. Heated underground parking is a bonus and free. Complimentary breakfast was excellent. Will stay here again.
Review 113:The room was small, had some broken things, the tv quality was terrible and no pay per view or anything similar.
Review 114:The staff was fantastic and so is the L Spa.
Review 115:There was a lot of construction which made maneuvering in my big truck difficult. I arrived at 5:00 p.m. but there were still carts and cleaning staff blocking the hallways, they never vacummed the hallways and it was very noisy next to their supply room.
Review 116:The bed was comfortable and the breakfast was excellent
Review 117:Restaurant food and staff are wonderful. We always order up to the room (as we have small children) and the food is superb. At breakfast, our kids are welcomed with open arms (literally!) and once again, the food and service are great.
Review 118:The pillows were too soft, would love to have firmer pillows to choose from.
Review 119:Staff was excellent, very helpful; room was very clean and comfortable. My daughter loves the tubs in the rooms, we always look forward to staying at the Podollan.
Review 120:The television channel selection was poor. simple old cable in standard definition. No in house movies or even a channel guide. They have flatscren TV's but feed is only in SD, looks poor. Too bad.
Review 121:The bed was large and comfortable. The room was well appointed with desk and chaise lounge, as well as a cushioned bench in the entry.
Review 122:The thermostat in the room didn't work but staff quickly dealt with it and moved me to another room, restaurant on location is convenient but pricey and the offering is limited. There are plenty of places to eat in close proximity so it isn't an issue. Parking is tight.
Review 123:Staff is excellent, beds are very comfortable and the rooms are clean. The rooms are quiet so hallway noise is limited and the early morning delivery of the checkout statement is appreciated.
Review 124:I was very impressed with your front line Reception staff. They were proactive and quick to respond to my needs. Many thanks Roxanne Strathcona County
Review 125:Location is in an under development area. The surrounding area is also remote from the downtown area and does not allow one to get out for a leisurely safe walk.
Review 126:Excellent accommodations and breakfast. Good value for the price
Review 127:Everything! Really like the shelf up over the pedestal sink. Other hotels with the pedestal sink have no where to put your toiletries. It was also really quiet and loved the bedding.
Review 128:Poor parking. Spaces are tight and generally not easily navigable for larger vehicles, which are the predominant means of transportation in that area.
Review 129:Facilities, staff and comfort were excellent. Onsite restaurant is a plus and chef does a good job in the kitchen although it is pricey.
Review 130:we weren't there to watch tv, but later on no channels to watch less than basic cable, walls were dirty with dirt scratchs , one spot had dried snot on it.what got us thinking what else is dirty
Review 131:booking in, nice room, location, good for adults. not much for kids to do, price was good after we had free breakfast in morning
