Reviews for Hotel Goryukan

Review 1:Fast internet, very helpful staff, free shuttle bus upon request, daily shuttle bus to and from ski slopes. Breakfast is included and there is a decent spread of both Japanese and western food. Hot springs and sauna's are nice, lockers for storing ski gear. Staff clean rooms in morning and come back to set up beds at night (we went in a group of 5, stayed in one room and slept on traditional tatami mats)

Review 2:Breakfast is only from 7-9am. A later finish for breakfast would be appreciated because I like to sleep in

Review 3:This was a fantastic hotel. It really reignited my faith in three star hotels. The room was massive and very comfortable. I enjoyed it much more than the five star room I stayed at in intercontinental Tokyo bay. Location was fantastic. It is about a four to six minute stroll from entrance of hotel to the ski lift ski lift and the ski school where you can book lessons for skiing or snowboarding. Staff are super friendly and welcoming. Free shuttle bus to the station made the trip just that little bit more great. Thank you hotel goryukan!!

Review 4:Hotel staff were very polite and helpful, gave good suggestions for meals Arranged for transport to Happo-one gondola when we were carrying snowboarding equipment Room had great views Onsen was well maintained

Review 5:It's a little (just a little) out of all the happenings at the Happone station where the restaurants are.

Review 6:The staff "Nao San" is very helpful and always greeting us with wide smile. They speak English. We love the onsen. We had our first and last night dinner at the hotel. The restaurant offered to waive some of the food charges just because they served the food a little longer as there was a big crowd before our order.

Review 7:Fantastic ryokan hotel with great onsen - both indoor and outdoor. Large and spacious tatami room for the 5 of us. Polite and attentive staff. Nice view of the mountains from our room. The wagyu beef teppanyaki we had for dinner was amazing!!! The pork hotpot (nabemono) was also very good. We recommend eating dinner in the hotel - there is more on the menu to try including 5 different flavours of delicious soft-serve ice-cream (Matcha especially good). A little far (if on foot) from the train station but about 10min from the main bus terminus. Hotel provides pickup when you arrive and depart - which is great. Ski storage, drying area, lockers all provided. Convenience store, coffee joint and ski rental store all a stones throw. All in a great stay and we hope to be back.

Review 8:Nothing!!

Review 9:The best ski resort in Hakuba.. So close to the Happone Gondola.. The shuttle bus will take you to the ski rental place and lifts anytime.. Discounted lift pass if you by at the resort.. The staffs are amazing, the free buffet breakfast is excellent, close to restaurants and convenient store.. Will return again

Review 10:Nothing. Stayed in Japanese style room, a bit different to western style but it was pretty good.

Review 11:Staff were very friendly and helpful. Location was 700 m from happo one info centre ( bus stop) and a few minutes walk to numerous places to eat and drink. Free hotel bus to slopes and other areas in hakuba! The onsen!

Review 12:Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Giving us directions and recommendations for everything. They have special arrangement with Spicy's Rental, they will drive you to the rental site (just a 2-3 min walk from the hotel) to get skis/snowboard (you can switch between either for free). When done, you can return your equipment at the hotel basement, no need to walk back to the rental store.

Review 13:Location less good for restaurants (in particular Echoland), bus terminal. Therefore some inconvenience getting to/from other ski areas. Some communication difficulties (but I don't speak their langauge either). Hotel a little tired (though this is probably reflected in the price)

Review 14:Location good for one of the main lifts of Happo-One (ie shortish walk). Helpful staff. Onsen (in particular outside onsen). Decent-sized room. Decent wifi. Large ski/boot room

Review 15:Onsen is nice however a little cooler (still hot) than others i've experienced.

Review 16:Free shuttle bus to Happo One and bus terminal, let them know when you are arriving and they will come and pick you up!

Review 17:We stayed in a Japanese-style room, which we found to be great, but many may find the futon/style beds to be a bit uncomfortable.

Review 18:We absolutely loved or stay. The mountain view of Happo One was simply incredible, and the hotel's onsen was perfect. The staff was always helpful, and coordinated our pick up to receive our rental ski equipment.

Review 19:The free breakfast wasn't all that good for Westerners.

Review 20:We had a Japanese room which was very spacious and comfy The reception staff were fantastic!

Review 21:We had a great time at the Hotel Goryukan. The staff was extremely helpful. The breakfast buffet was excellent with a lot of choice. Great with ski lockers in the basement floor, rides to and from the nearby slopes and also pick-up and drop-off to/from the Nagano bus. Big plus for the onsen/hot bath to relax in after a day at the slopes.

Review 22:Almost have no.

Review 23:It has a large inside onsen and amazing outside onsen. It is fantastic experience in enjoying onsen when snows. The room is spacious. Good food.

Review 24:We were blown away by the sincere desire of staff to make our stay incredible. Nothing was too much trouble for anyone. We loved the traditional food, the freedom to wear the traditional robes whilst inside the motel, the hot baths, the views, everything. When we checked out of the motel it was if we were friends saying farewell. we were walked out to the courtesy bus and waved off.

Review 25:Staff were so friendly and helpful, was so close and within walking distance to the slopes and nothing beat the onsen after a big day out on the slopes! I'm definitely staying there the next time I go back to Hakuba.

Review 26:Stayed in Ryokan-style (japanese) rooms sleeping on matresses. Futons were extremely comfortable. Onsen and rotemburo (outside hot pool) in hotel as well as a sauna which is nice after skiing. Good location. Hotel provides transport service to Bus stop and Ski lifts. Noce staff.

Review 27:Our stay here was just great. Hotel bus pick up from happy-one bus station, shuttle to and from the slopes each day, gorgeous traditional rooms and views and a close walk to EcoLand and town. It really was fantastic. And very helpful and kind staff and beautiful onsen.

Review 28:5 min walk from Happo fields, everything is in walking distance or a quick cab ride around Hakuba. Amazing staff. So friendly and willing to help with any needs. Like this throughout the entire Japan. Will come back next year for sure at this time. Best experience ever!!!
