Reviews for Alpine Heritage Motel

Review 1:You get what you pay for. Very old, looks great in pictures but doesn't live up to it in real life. Depressing, noisy plumbing, wifi only works in foyer.

Review 2:Cheap

Review 3:I did see 2 small cockroaches in my room. The shower head was very dirty. The smoking area means that the smoke goes up to all the rooms. With the area being in a u shape it is very closed in. I think maybe it should be in another area. Internet kept dropping out.

Review 4:Location was great. Room was comfortable. Staff were friendly & helpful. Thankfully the other guests were the quite type while I was there.

Review 5:My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stop and the receptionist lady was very good and extremely helpful. We found the room, although old, was very charming and would recommend it.

Review 6:I can't say that I found a negative point during my stay.

Review 7:The prices are very reasonable, it's in a good location. And the staff are very friendly and helpful, especially seen as I'm not from town. They were able to assist me in finding out where I needed to go :)

Review 8:The room. Poor cleanliness, mattress and pillows were old, lumpy and sheets not freshly washed, smelt musty. Bathroom and room facilities were very old and not very clean. Whole room needed refreshing. Carpet stained. Dirty, old curtains.

Review 9:The communal lounge room and the location.

Review 10:Room had everything for a good nights sleep at an amazingly cheap price. The staff were also very friendly. Will stay here again next time I'm passing through Goulburn

Review 11:Bit difficult getting heavy bags etc upstairs.Heritage room was as expected re décor but I doubt the room had been dusted or vacuumed for a day or two. Bit cramped in bathroom. Floor squeaky (not unusual in an old building)

Review 12:Dead bugs on the windowsills; a bit knocked around - handles moved & holes not patched.

Review 13:Free parking; close to town; quiet (no trains running whilst I was there). Delivered all it said it would for a great price & I would stay there again but only if travelling alone.

Review 14:Were unable to log in to the wifi, for some reason none of the Passwords provided would work

Review 15:Conveniently located near the shops. Largest Car Parking area, quite capable of taking a handful of B-Doubles

Review 16:Heritage mattress was a joke It was like a housing commission set of units however not as classy Badly in need of a renovation The lampshade on the bedside table lamp had been squashed And just left that way,no globe even.

Review 17:The soap /shampoo dispenser worked well

Review 18:Old property. We paid for "deluxe" room which was very basic. No lift as heritage property. We were given a room on the 3rd floor which I asked to be changed as I was being admitted to hospital the next day for knee replace tn & couldn't walk up to 3rd floor. Room was changed to 2nd floor.

Review 19:We had to spend 1 night in Goulburn prior to early hospital admission following day. Location was close to shops, clubs for dinner & hospital

Review 20:Very noisy... Room was changed to a larger room to accomodate otherbookings, then we were initially charged at a much higher rate... It wasresolved after a heated discussion but it should never have happened

Review 21:Getting quite run down and old looking but not really a problem considering the price we paid

Review 22:Central location and very friendly staff and perfect price for what we needed.

Review 23:The room was very old and up 2flights of stairs. It was clean but air con was really basic and strugled in the heat.

Review 24:It was ok for the cost and location

Review 25:Cups and teaspoons were dirty. Reception was not very 'warm' - not rude in anyway, but we just did not feel welcomed. No breakfast available. (though shops nearby) No view from window, almost looking at brick wall. Window was heavily curtained anyway, so it was as if the room had no windows.

Review 26:Location, off street parking and the building itself, nice to stay in an old style/historical building.

Review 27:We booked in very late, and was very pleased to see the poor Manager waiting for us to arrive. I would suggest he'd had a big day, however was able to greet me in a very professional manner

Review 28:Accidentally went to wrong room and the key opened the door and someone was in there. My fault for wrong room but was highly embarrassing that the key to my room opened his. Security not acceptable

Review 29:It was close to the venue I was attending

Review 30:No soap. No shampoo. No conditioner. ( dispensers supplied empty). Indifferent manager. Couldn't close or lock window. No insect screen allowing insects into the Tiny room. Broken tap on basin. TV set stopped working at 9 pm.

Review 31:Leaving

Review 32:Plane delayed 1 hour Sydney, arrived Goulburn 10;30 pm well after closing time.Host left keys in safe and instructions including keys deposit on leaving early before 9:30 am. Easy overnight stay. Convenient location.

Review 33:Our room had an "exit" light outside our unit which shined through the top & door side of the curtains even when we pulled it together & extended the curtain over the door knob. The carpet showed signs of wear plus spillage marks from previous patrons. The bed was comfortable but not good to view the TV from as it moved away from the wall when lent upon. The complementary cleansers had not been checked if required to be topped up, as we found the hair conditioner was empty. Some patrons did not show respect to others late at night with loud conversations & laughter.

Review 34:As per our ratings.

Review 35:Let's face it, for $94 we knew it wouldn't be flash. Very tired and dated but the bed was a shocker - we had the cheapest room but the bed should be better than this. No milk in the fridge despite tea being supplied.

Review 36:Close to the lovely park and The Fireside Inn and Rose's café. Huge car park. Free wifi.

Review 37:Original long life milk in room was curdled. I asked for more and it was the same. We wasted all our coffee. I then asked for more and extra coffee. They got some from a new pack which was OK. They were pleasant about it.

Review 38:Cobwebs on the walls & ceiling, smell to the room, mouldy in the bathroom, walls looked like they needed washing down, dirty remotes & light switches

Review 39:Pretty front facade

Review 40:Very small, no heater and they should prohibit people from smoking in the corridor outside the rooms as the smoke enters the rooms and smells strongly.

Review 41:Good value and good location.

Review 42:Room was quite small. Paint peeling in bathroom, tiles broken & chipped in shower along with broken glass on floor in bathroom.

Review 43:Easy directions to location

Review 44:Room not that clean , but more importantly a/ bright lights that the curtains did not blot out and b/ Pigeons roosting in t5he corridor which the owner couldn't be bothered to do anything about

Review 45:Handy spot

Review 46:Front of property looks great, inside disappointingly shabby. Room very dated although clean. Shower recess tiles and grout may just be deteriorating but look like they need a good scrub. New basin and toilet appreciated.

Review 47:Friendly staff, good location, off street parking right outside my door, booking online in advance, comfortable beds, free wi fi.

Review 48:I liked how we were in walking distance to go to the shopping center, clubs, cafetiere The kids liked it as there was a park for them to play in close by.There was plenty of parking .

Review 49:room was small, cupboard was broken, no where to put my bag without having to step over it, bathroom was ready for a makeover

Review 50:location was great as I was without a car

Review 51:Rooms were not very clean, the bathroom was disgusting. They advertise Austar and Wi fi, couldn't get Austar at all and Wifi, only if you were lucky. Rooms were very noisy.

Review 52:The location, close yo everything

Review 53:This motel is nothing like the photos, it is old and very run down with grotty old furniture. Outside my room was a sand bucket full of cigarette ends which looked like it had not been emptied in ages. The musty and damp smell was overpowering in the room and made it difficult to sleep. Not a place I would recommend to anyone. Never again.

Review 54:Central to everything.

Review 55:We were on the second floor with external stairs and it was raining

Review 56:It was easy to find! Plenty of off street parking! Reasonably close to restaurants! Comfortable although a bit cramped but good for an overnight stay!

Review 57:The place needs a touch up eg painting, new curtains and water pressure cleaning of pavers in the lower area

Review 58:Great locality, closeness to town and the tourist center. Easy safe parking

Review 59:3rd floor - no lift. Rooms old but clean. Bathroom door off the roller so couldn't close door. Hot room on a warm day (cool night). That was all OK. The worst part were the other occupants on my floor level (& below) smoking on the balcony outside my door and so therefore smoke wafting into my room most of the evening.

Review 60:Location was great. Staff very nice. Plenty of parking.

Review 61:Lack of general cleanliness, beds were old and horrible, main bed sagged in the middle, pillows were lumpy. If my husband hadn't already paid, I would have walked out. A newish vanity and basin had been installed with but hadn't been fitted off. Soap holder in shower broken off leaving exposed, jagged edges, no phone for access to (or information on how to contact) reception in an emergency or for an assistance (which we needed when our daughter slipped in the shower and cracked the back of her head on the tiled edging). Great place for rail and truck enthusiasts; directly opposite the rail yards where the first train left the station at 5.55am, which was on time. No soundproofing or double glazing. Could hear trucks all night, people in room above and below, and tv in next room, and people going up and down the stairs. Spend an extra few dollars and stay somewhere else.

Review 62:Looks beautiful on the outside.

Review 63:The feeling of not sure about the overall cleanliness of the room and bathroom.

Review 64:That I didn't have to take my shoes off because the floor was already so dirty...

Review 65:noise from rooms above, sounded like someone stomping around. The room we were in only had light curtains and outside lighting shone into room

Review 66:comfortable bed. great shower, hot water and great water pressure

Review 67:David Clay was an excellent 'mine host', friendly and helpful when we arrived and again friendly and helpful when we phoned the day after our departure to ask him if he could recover three coats which we had carelessly left in a cupboard and have them available for us four days later when we would pass through Goulburn on our return drive to Melbourne. Much appreciated!

Review 68:Old tired fold up bed needed renovation and modernising. Looked like old low grade concrete block flats -

Review 69:There was nothing about the hotel room to like the main hotel may have had some nicer rooms and looked apoesling

Review 70:When you flushed the toilet a bad smell come through the kitchenette, which then went into the main room.

Review 71:Friendly staff who were help in giving advice about the places to eat.

Review 72:My only complaint would be that it was fairly easy to hear other people in their rooms but luckily on my stay people seemed generally considerate of other people and kept the noise to a minimum.

Review 73:Definitely good value for money considering I had my own bathroom and there was a small fridge, a kettle (inclusive of tea, coffee, milk, biscuits) and a microwave.

Review 74:We were first given a key to a room that was already occupied. Then given a key to a room that hadn't been cleaned from the previous occupant. The 3rd room we were sent to was filthy. Bathroom disgusting and toilet seat lid broken. We found a tub of ice cream in the freezer that was iced over so who knows how long that was there for. The drip tray in the fridge was full and frozen. The curtain was filthy the glass lamp shade broken and dusty. Both the room and bathroom were dirty. The "cleaners" obviously don't know what the word clean means.

Review 75:Nothing to like

Review 76:Room small, no chair but modern good-sized bathroom with exhaust fan & stool. All we needed for an overnight stay. Plenty of off-street parking, close to main street, RSL Club & railway station.

Review 77:We booked thinking we were staying in the hotel(heritage!) but on arrival told 'you are not in this building you are around the corner! ' With a gravel car park outside our door, seemed handy for tradies stay over. On ground level close to a busy road with no window guards. The bedside light wires looked dangerously bare! Pulled plug out at night and wires all over the place from TV, kettle, microwave etc. Toilet ran all night, taps did not leak thank you Mr Manager.

Review 78:Close to the station.

Review 79:Hotel is across the road from a courier depot that operates 24 hours, and a level crossing which has plenty of trains blowing their whistles.

Review 80:Close to town.

Review 81:The room smelled of food when I arrived -- I think someone was cooking nearby and the smell travelled through the air-con vents. Had to leave the door open a while to clear the smell. The bathroom sliding door was almost off its rollers; no handles either to close it. I thought I nearly made the door fall off during the night when I got up to use the bathroom. The bed mattress was really hard and took a while to get comfortable.

Review 82:Location was good.

Review 83:There was nothing I liked about the room. It was unbelievably tiny and it was on the 3rd floor in a building with no lift. Wifi is free but useless. They advertise Austar TV but that didn't work either.

Review 84:The location is walking distance to supermarket, shops, hotels, restaurants and train station.

Review 85:Hard to get any attention at reception. Could smell cigarette smoke coming from the office room. And smoke from smokers in the court yard and room next to ours! Mouldy old apple under the closet. DVD player not working properly and no remote. Towels and toilet paper not replenished during house keeping.

Review 86:Was cheap.

Review 87:Mice in the room Bathroom door of slide at the bottom thus rattled all night. Cheap u nmatching linen. Peeling paint. Unable to fill a kettle directly from tap. Unable to sit at the bench due to size of room. All round very poor

Review 88:Location pk

Review 89:I found the accommodation at the Alpine Heritage Morel to be appalling. I'm very surprised that it is not listed as a fire hazard with the dingy stairways and the actual room I was put in was on the third floor (I am 66 years old). The room was small and very grubby and I did not even want to use the kettle or cups supplied for a cup of tea - the nearest power point for the kettle on the floor near the door. The electric cords openly displayed across the wall for the tv and to plug in the electric blanket I had to put the cord across the floor to reach the power point. I was disgusted and as I came back to Goulburn the next night I did not and would not stay there again. No high quality in this motel at all.

Review 90:Nothing

Review 91:Had to drag suitcase up three flights of stairs to top of 3 level building. No hairdryer as I was told over telephone. Road-worker guests noisy.

Review 92:Located close to railway station, pub with good steaks and supermarket, bed OK, not wrecked.

Review 93:Walked into a cigarette smoke filled reception area…utterly gross. The toilet seat fell off, the bathroom door had no track on bottom and swung in. Stain and black hair on my pillow case. Rubbish under the bed along with the egg container from the fridge. NOISY.

Review 94:The room was warm

Review 95:The draft poring in the door the attitude of staff the difficulty in entering the room late at night keys were padlocked and padlock was faulty to which I was told...it happens a lot!

Review 96:Rooms upstairs. No lift, stairs steep.

Review 97:DVD player, Austar, Microwave, TV, toaster, electric jug and hairdryer made this motel exceptional value for money. Furnishings a bit dated & room small but functional. Main building historic ~150 yrs old with Motel rooms behind; location ideal for traveller en route to Sydney from south as on northern exit road from Goulburn.

Review 98:Decor is worn. Really a place to stay for just a night if you are in the budget accommodation. I felt the room could be a little warmer, but it was a lot warmer than the freezing temperatures outside.

Review 99:Shower pressure was awesome

Review 100:No boiler heater working Small air con too noisy n took ages to heat up the room. Blackouts because everyone had their aircons on. (3 short ones)

Review 101:Everything was ok.

Review 102:I was travelling on my own with my 4 children. I was greeted by barking dogs in the foyer. The man at reception was nice but the place smelt and looked poorly looked after. I felt very uncomfortable at the idea of staying there, and did not feel it was a safe place for my kids. I decided that I would not stay the night and rang around to find another hotel.

Review 103:We were a family of 5 but were given two double beds which meant the room was not quite suitable especially as we booked online and specified what our party was. There was only one knife and a spoon and only four mugs in the little kitchenette. It was hard to clean up any utensils we used as there wasn't any diswashing liquid or tea towels. There weren't any bowls either. So not well catered for there. There was quite a large gap under our door to our room and as it reached zero degrees over night we had to stop the door gap with our bags and belongings to keep the heat in.

Review 104:It was a good enough space with good mattresses.

Review 105:Some of the parts of the bathroom were broken and unfinished, but still functional, so no real complaints.

Review 106:Beautiful building in great location. The staff member who greeted us was great.

Review 107:This establishment is an old building which is being renovated so some rooms aren't quite as up to scratch as others. They have recently had trouble with their oil heating but have reverse cycle systems which do the job. Rooms are small and would suit people just wanting a bed for the night or two.

Review 108:The shower is excellent with great pressure and plenty of hot water. The beds are very comfortable and the kitchenette facilities are all you need, tea coffee, sugar, biscuits, kettle, toaster, microwave.

Review 109:We arrived at dinner time in Winter and the room was freezing. When we asked about it we were told the central heating had broken down. They gave us a tiny little fan heater that was useless. When my husband complained again and said we should get a discount he was told that the last people hadn't complained. The room was freezing!

Review 110:It was short!

Review 111:The smell of cigarette smoke was overwhelming - it was freezing cold noisy with traffic and despite being in a family room there was not enough crockery to cater for us all

Review 112:Price - but not worth saving a few dollars to wake up feeling like you've been in a smelly pub all night

Review 113:Light flickered electric blanket didn't work. Exhaust fan was sporadic. Only one cup in room

Review 114:Very disappointed didn't appear as advertised. Reception overpowered by smellof cigarettes

Review 115:the doors need to be slammed to lock door as you leave.

Review 116:The room provided every a traveller needs at a good price. It is close to any facility you need.

Review 117:Drafty, run down, tile floor was cold, one bed had broken leg, beds moved on tiles at slightest push, a/c unit noisy, awful stink from floor drain, WiFi free but didn't actually connect to internet!

Review 118:Friendly staff at check in

Review 119:Bathroom taps were loose, it seems no maintenance has been done for a while

Review 120:The motel is well situated, room was big with a good modern television. Adequate for a one night stopover.

Review 121:Unfortunately there must have been a communal room behind us. My husband thought it was a pub, however I think it may have just been a group of people chatting and drinking with music on till late at night.

Review 122:Central location.

Review 123:The smell of cigarette smoke was terrible - no smoking allowed in the rooms but in the old part of the hotel the smoking permitted downstairs 'crept' into the upper rooms. It was really bad.

Review 124:Decent room, cheapish, comfy bed, lovely friendly staff.

Review 125:Industrial bed like lots of motels. Globe missing from bedlight. Soap etc. container interesting!

Review 126:Cheapest in town. Warm and dry. Facewasher luxuriant - best ever.

Review 127:Stairwell in heritage part could do with some work. They have obviously had water damage.

Review 128:The staff were able to fix up an error from booking.com whereby our room had been double booked despite me receiving 2 confirmation emails days before our stay! Room they gave us was great!

Review 129:I asked for a ground floor room. If not available I should have been told.I had to struggle up about 50 steps and was too tired to go out for dinner. We had toast for tea, as we had brought bread and there was a toaster available.b

Review 130:Good shower, nicely warm on arrival

Review 131:The bed had really old sheets on it and mattress wasn't very comfortable.Room was VERY small.

Review 132:Staff were friendly and accommodating. Good spot near the centre of town.

Review 133:We booked for 3 people and booking included extra fold out bed. But they don't offer that we had a double bed for 3 of us to sleep in as hotel was booked out

Review 134:Great staff

Review 135:Very old and run-down. Needs a good clean. The blinds were broken. The toaster didn't work, tiles in the shower were broken and the towels looked like the should have been replaced a long time ago.

Review 136:The best thing was the location. Close to town.

Review 137:Quality of the establishment seemed very run down. The place was smelling of cigarette smoke. We aren't smokers and found it uncomfortable that smoke was wafting into our room from neighboring rooms.

Review 138:Was more comfortable than camping
