Reviews for Hotel Pallanza

Review 1:A big disappointment: no garden, no swimming pool, not even a roof terrace, no private parking, nothing of the facilities you could expect in an 4 star hotel. The green you see in the pictures is the public garden across the street, the "terrace with panoramic view" consists of 2 tables for smokers on each side of the entrance... The description on booking is nevertheless accurate, what you read is what you get (and nothing more). I should have studied the pictures and the description better...but was fooled a bit by the 8.7 average rating

Review 2:If you like old fashioned rooms, this is your place. The rooms are clean and big, beds are good, breakfast is good, personnel is very friendly, location is good. There is a beautiful mirror in the hallway, this (and the price) are the only things that suggests this is a 4 star hotel.

Review 3:In the most hotels in Italy only thin blankets are provided. we were missing common duvet. They would be used even in summer time, they are light and much more comfortable than blankets.

Review 4:Wifi works, but isn't super fast and coverage isn't great. A bit more places to dry clothes would be useful.

Review 5:Location is great. Depending of course what one is up for. Beach close by, some nice restaurant near, boats just in front of the hotel.

Review 6:Perfect location opposite the ferry. Such friendly and helpful staff, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast selection excellent and terrace option (4 tables so bag a table quick). Very quiet location too. There are many glod quality restaurants close by too.

Review 7:One minor detail: Wifi very slow in bedroom.

Review 8:Style, comfort, friendliness, breakfast, view, location, quietness. Perfect choice of hotel, as long as you take a room with lake view, preferably on higher floors The 1st floor room on the back street that we were first given was of much lesser standard than the room on the 3rd floor that we got after asking for a better deal; the 15 euros/night supplement was worth every cent ! Verbania is a nice lakeside village, close to Borromean islands and to Stresa. hotel Pallanza is a very good choice.

Review 9:There was not much to not like here! I guess if I had to say anything, it would be that the a/c was not "cold" like we Americans are used to.

Review 10:Loved the view from our room, the check in, the character of the rooms. Everything was so very nice.

Review 11:The American bar ,its manager and staff, are not welcoming which is a pity because it forms a significant part of the hotel .Apart from that the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Review 12:The Hotel ,the hotel staff and Pallanza

Review 13:Location was perfect. Quieter than Stresa. A perfect walk to Villa Taranto and relaxing boat trip to Cannobio....no complaints at all! Really lovely hotel.

Review 14:nothing

Review 15:Everything is perfect. Breakfast is very rich. Some people have written that breakfast was poor. I wonder what do they have at home for breakfast?

Review 16:The room was a bit small... however i was a wonderful stay.

Review 17:wonderful buillding at a perfect place at the lake... super friendly staff... they cared wonderfully.

Review 18:Lack a bit of extras to lake it a real 4 star hotel (e.g. bathrobes, slightly larger rooms...) No real lounge No parking (free public parking place nearby fill up quickly).

Review 19:Good location in Pallanza View on the lake Nice decoration

Review 20:Very hard pillows, we are used to feather pillows . It is hard to sleep with hard pillows If you have a car, parking can be a problem, however, when we were stuck With having to pay up to midnight, the staff helped out with a parking permit

Review 21:Location, friendly staff, nice room

Review 22:The location on the lake was perfect for exploring the Borremean Islands. The scenery is a real feast for the eyes. I particularly appreciated the Italian sense of effortless style; not only seen in the people but also the many beautiful houses and gardens.

Review 23:Two twin beds push together rather than one double bed. Also Internet was not working, but staff was very responsive & had it fixed the next morning.

Review 24:Perfect place to celebrate my birthday

Review 25:The hotel needs more investment. At the moment it seems focused ontaking low-cost tour groups who are probably not inclined to complain, and for this reason they can get away with poor, thin coffee anduninspiring pastries for breakfast. Our room was also not generouslysized so we were for ever falling over our suitcases; there was onesmall pillow that had never been good even when new; and their toiletpaper is of the brown crinkly kind that I last saw in Italy in the1970s. Only a penny-pinching management could treat its guests in such away. We so appreciated the staff that we feel they are badly let down bytheir bosses who should charge 2 euros a night more and aim to achievemodern hotel standards.

Review 26:The situation is very good, overlooking the lake and 50 metres from theferry terminal for Stresa and the Borromean islands. There is a road infront of the hotel, but it is little used and very quiet. The staff werealso excellent - friendly, professional and wishing to help.

Review 27:Pillows tea English have to have tea making stuff in room It's an English thing even 5 star places don't get it Tea Tea

Review 28:Staff position charm

Review 29:Our only area for improvement is that at breakfast to make a good pot of tea, the water has to be at boiling point but this is a minor point. It is an English thing!

Review 30:We knew the location was excellent from our previous visit but we can honestly say we enjoyed this time at the hotel even more. The room was excellent overlooking the lake. The staff at the reception were wonderful. The staff in the breakfast room were lovely. The housekeepers were really polite and very good.

Review 31:Nothing really

Review 32:The staff was exceptionally helpful, breakfast was very nice and had more options than most, location was beautiful and access to the ferry for lake travel was just across the road.

Review 33:Wouldnt rate the hotel as 4* more a 3* Beds were hard but still managed to get a good night sleep. Special request was ignored. Pitty as we stayed at the hotel for a special event.

Review 34:We were given room 504 triple room on the top floor and through a side window we had a lovely view of the lake. The hotel was clean throughout. The receptionist was helpful. Breakfast adequate. Was a nice stay overall

Review 35:- friendliness of staff - the lake view

Review 36:Tour buses stayed there also.

Review 37:View of the lake and fantastic breakfast and dinners.

Review 38:The view over the lake

Review 39:We had a lovely room with balcony and view of the Lake and all the staff were very friendly and helpful, which made the stay so much more enjoyable.

Review 40:Great location on the lake, staff very helpful and knowledgeable.

Review 41:Staff are great and location is perfect, easy walking distance to everything and right on the lake front

Review 42:Breakfast was poor. Espresso tasted like tea from coffee beans.

Review 43:Nice hallway with huge open floor: can see from top floor all the way down.

Review 44:Beautiful location.

Review 45:Very personnel & friendly staff. Welcome letter before arrival and follow up by mail after check out! Worth to return - thanks a lot!

Review 46:Great position and well presented

Review 47:No blankets. The bed was a little hard.

Review 48:Very helpful and friendly staff. Free parking voucher right outside the hotel. Fantastic breakfast.

Review 49:No atmosphere, very tired room, very poor breakfast, bad coffee. Definitely not a 4 star hotel, maximum 2.

Review 50:Nice location, nice view, friendly staff.

Review 51:The staff and location

Review 52:Proximity to everything Staff were very helpful and friendly Very clean hotel

Review 53:Nothing

Review 54:Everything

Review 55:Very friendly staff, helped us with everything we asked. The rooms are specious and comfortable.

Review 56:Cheap toilet paper!

Review 57:Very helpful friendly staff, facilities that could not be faulted and great quiet position.

Review 58:Nothing particularly

Review 59:Great location Bedroom and bathroom very good. Full compliment of tioletries

Review 60:Staff were great and very helpful and friendly.

Review 61:Nothing really.

Review 62:Quiet rooms, location beside water-bus stop and restaurants.

Review 63:Good service

Review 64:Fantastic Lake view

Review 65:No Air-C in June

Review 66:Accomodating staff

Review 67:Fresh fruit salad at breakfast would have been useful. Pillows rather hard

Review 68:Wonderful lakeside location.Hotel had great atmosphere .Friendly and very helpful staff.Evening meals at nearby Hotel Belvedere were excellent.

Review 69:Nothing really. More pillows would have been useful but we would have probably got these if we had asked but we didn't. This is a great hotel that we will return to.

Review 70:Location cannot be bettered in a quiet enclave on Lake Maggiore. The hotel is charming in its design and the staff are very helpful, with English spoken. Good breakfasts and a great Lake view to Isola Madre with ferry 2 mins away.

Review 71:The cushions were a tiny bit hard. Breakfast would have been excellent - only the juice was a bit artificial.

Review 72:The corner room under the roof was lovely with stunning views. The location is quiet but central and just a step from the boat station. All the staff were very friendly and not speaking Italian was not a problem at all, which is very nice. Late arrival was not problematic either. We also got excellent advice for day trips. And generally felt very welcome. A 4-star hotel with a family touch!

Review 73:Our lakeside room was perfect. Large comfortable room with two sets of double doors opening onto the balcony. Staff very friendly and helpful. Perfect location to explore Lake Maggiore delights - short walk to ferry terminal for lake trips.

Review 74:No pool - nearest one is 500 m walk.

Review 75:Service is excellent. Hotel is located just 50 meters from ferry station - very convenient for water travels to Stresa and Borromean Islands. You can open a window and hear the tides of the lake - super!

Review 76:Breakfast was good with exception of fruit juices which had a very artificial flavour.

Review 77:The staff at reception were exceptionally helpful, friendly and informative.

Review 78:Nothing.

Review 79:A very pleasant hotel, highly enjoyable stay, a delightful atmosphere, great view over the Lake, comfortable room, effective aircon, and highlight is the delightful staff especially at reception. Some excellent restaurants nearby.

Review 80:Bed and pillows were too firm. Not enough shopping in Pallanza. No local sand beach.

Review 81:Staff very polite and friendly. Small town very pretty (old town) Lake side park.

Review 82:thought the pillows hard but then discovered lovely soft pillows in cupboard to cater for all tastes ...so no problem.

Review 83:the friendly, helpful staff ,who upgraded us ! beautiful breakfast and location, room facilities good. we enjoyed our stay there.

Review 84:Very very very good hotel and its staff! It is placed in realy beautiful and quiet area where every one could feel the paradise of the Alps and the lake!

Review 85:We only stayed one night!

Review 86:Everything! Beautiful surroundings, excellent facilities, friendly and helpful staff, great location. Will return for a longer stay next time. A visit to Hotel Pallanza on Lake Maggiore is a must! Luxury at a budget price!

Review 87:The shower is a bit small, the wool blankets were a little uncomfortable. Also - 25 € for a baby's cradle seems a bit too much...

Review 88:Staff was very friendly, helpful and nice. Our room was upgraded to one with a balcony and lake view free of charge and without asking- beautiful! Overall- a great place to stay when traveling in lake maggiore.

Review 89:Nice hotel, well situated, quiet (no traffic allowed on the lake road during the night), ideal for lake cruises on Lago Maggiore, close to restaurants, friendly staff at the reception

Review 90:Unfortunately the sounds of bathroom visits of neighbouring rooms was like as if next to your bed....

Review 91:Very nice location, spaceous room with beautiful lake view. Hotel is located in old Verbania, where traffic is low, which makes the location very quiet but still in the middle of the town with restaurants and terraces. Lago Maggiore just across the street, very nice!

Review 92:No lounge or bar area to relax, only the American Bar next door which is open to the general public and is more like a pub. Breakfast was OK but we didn't like the coffee.

Review 93:Great location facing lake, convenient for ferries. Hotel is grand in style with faded elegance, rooms spacious but average furnishing, bathrooms adequate. Parking outside the hotel is difficult but they have a free, secure, underground car park right behind the hotel. Staff very helpful and friendly.

Review 94:A wonderful location, close to the ferry terminal and with easy access to the lake and surrounding towns. The staff were always helpful and friendly. The breakfasts were substantial, with lovely fresh food, great coffee, and plenty of choice. Rooms with lake views have beautiful views of the lake. Would happily stay there again if given the opportunity.

Review 95:We loved the location and the view of the lake from our hotel balcony was wonderful and the staff were genuinely friendly and very helpful. The buffet breakfast was very satisfying with lots of variety for the western palate and the coffee was good. The location suited as it was near the ferry terminal and a short walk to the bus stop. I would stay again if I had the opportunity.

Review 96:Nothing that comes to mind

Review 97:Great location across from lake. Very attentive and friendly staff. Room was very comfortable and clean. Parking nearby one of th easiest encountered in Europe. Overall, great experience and will return.

Review 98:Little to do or see at this side of the lake. Next time we would go to Baveno or Stresa. Every day we had problems to get a parking space.

Review 99:Good and friendly service at Breakfest.

Review 100:It appears to be a common theme throughtout europe but the so calleddouble rooms always appear to be two singles stuck together.

Review 101:The staff were helpful upon arrival and answered all our questions. Thehotel is right by the lake and if you are lucky enough to get a roomwith a view, its an excellant spot. Would recomend this hotel to othersworks out good value for money with the breakfast included in the price.

Review 102:Rooms ventillation is not perfect. Parking nearby may be a challenge.

Review 103:Nice hotel, well situted in the most pleasant part of Verbania, Pallanza: beatiful lake view, the boat station is only 50 meters away. Breakfast is quite ok. Friendly staff. Maybe we were lucky, but at nights there were no noises - peasful and calm place.

Review 104:Parking was a slight problem - spaces opposite but not always availableboth for free ones and paid ones.

Review 105:On arrival we were met by friendly and welcoming staff. We were giventhe choice of rooms and we chose Room 205 which was absolutely stunning.Large, clean, spacious, airey and had two sets of double french doorsleading onto a double width balcony with spectacular, uninterruptedviews over the lake. The room was slightly noisy at night with trafficgoing past, but one soon didn't hear it.The hotel is primarily of traditional Italian design with marble staircase and floors, wrought iron work but doesn't give an air of musty oldness. It is extremely clean and bright. We ate in the evenings at a Pizza restaurant a few doors down the street as the restaurant attached to the hotel, was rather uninviting and extremely expensive for a drink - Euros10 for x2 glasses of soda water and lime juice. However, breakfast was taken on the lovely breezy terrace overlooking the lake. Very fresh fruit (not tinned) and a choice of meats, cheeses, eggs and all sorts of bread still warm from the oven. Staff were very efficient and friendly. The location is idyllic - views over the lake, 3 minutes from the boat station where there are numerous trips available around the islands, restaurants, the promenade to walk along and parking opposite. My sister and I had a wonderful time here and definitely recommend this hotel - especially Room 205!!!

Review 106:All front desk reception staff were friendly and helpful, with a special mention to the wonderfully cheerful monsieur in the breakfast room. When we had trouble accessing their newly installed Internet in our room they actually called a technician to fix it! The location right on the lake and only 100 meters from the ferry stop and shops is perfect. We noted that the opposite side of the lake was much less pedestrian friendly than the areas accessible from this hotel. The minibar and air on worked well. We are planning a return stay next year and have recommended it to friends.

Review 107:Great hotel ! Friendly, capable, helpful staff meeting any request we made, making our many plans and excursions come to fruition without trouble. Great views out of the front rooms from an attractive building on a great site. The Lake, Ferries, loads of restaurants and sights all in walking distance. Get there !

Review 108:All the staff we encountered were excellent from the Reception team to the lady who manned the breakfast room in the mornings. All were very helpful and always smiling. The hotel has an excellent location and is great value for money. We loved our balcony and lake view.

Review 109:Parking was on the street and we had to go far to park.

Review 110:Grest location, clean and tidy. Central to shops and restaurants.

Review 111:Nice location friendly staff good room will return

Review 112:Very thin walls! Not 4-star standard

Review 113:Lovation

Review 114:Lake view, room was so cute, staff amazing, nice building...asking for nothing more!

Review 115:Excellent hotel in a beautiful location

Review 116:Paying parking being a hotel guest, Room facilities basic for the price.

Review 117:The employees were very helpfull and nice.

Review 118:Godd quiet location with a good view to the lake. Good size room and a weel kept charming hotel.
