Reviews for Nagenahira Beach Villa
Review 1:From December to March Pigeon Island is literally closed so no snorkeling possibilities and the sea due to monsoon season is very rough and nearly everyday there is a red flag, meaning you cannot swim. It is not a negative aspect of the hotel but it's just to say that in these months unfortunately there is nothing to do! A swimming pool wouldn't be bad maybe :)
Review 2:The hotel is really nice, comfortable, directly on the beach with just a few very well built villas. It is in the middle of nature and it is gorgeous. Breakfast is very good and the staff are very nice.
Review 3:everytime you open the room door musquitoes and insect creep in,lot of musqutio bites at dinner table in night.no place outside room to wash sand from feet, sand all over room floor.no keetle tea coffee in room. staff not courtius and smiling.
Review 4:Low season: although you were asked to indicate 2 hours before dinner what you would like to have (to be able to shop for ingredients) almost half of the menu was not an option.
Review 5:Idyllic location almost on the beach, great accommodation, very clean, the indoor/outdoor shower was amazing. The bed was long and big enough for tall people and the mattress was nice and thick. Best bed we had during our four weeks stay in Sri Lanka.
Review 6:1. PRICE! (way too expensive - like every hotel in Nilaveli). 2. Driver recommended by Raja (Staff Manager) is really slow - Nilaveli to CMB Airport in almost 6 hours was a disaster.
Review 7:Villas are new, clean and spacious, located about 20 m from beautiful beach. Really modern and good looking rooms. Staff is nice, but they should practice english more often (sometimes it could be hard to communicate). Food isn't really good, but you can always eat in other hotels (about 10 minutes walking), so that's not a disadvantage. We think, that's the best place to stay in Nilaveli.
Review 8:Staff speaks very poor English. If the owner is not around it will be difficult to communicate. The food is a bit overpriced. We ordered the nicest barbecue and they served us a re-heated and really burnt meal that we couldn't eat. We complaint and we weren't charged for that dinner in the final bill, though. But we didn't even receive an apology. If you want to go around and explore during the day you won't be able to pre-order lunch or dinner and the kitchen works only with pre-orders. They really need to improve this. No mosquito nets in such an averagely high priced place.
Review 9:Warm welcome with some fruit juice. The waiter gives a very good service in general. Very comfortable bed and convenient location. The owner pointed us to a cheaper deal to go to Pigeon island. The place is One minute away from the beach!
Review 10:We stayed in a the beach front villa - the villa was large, comfortable, with great air con and a fab outdoor shower. It was a super relaxing few days with not much to do except read and spend time on the beach. The staff were lovely!
Review 11:You can't pay by card. Make sure you have enough cash. The village of Trincomalee and Nilaveli is quite far.
Review 12:Our room was brand new, very clean and spacious with an giant bathroom. Each room has a lovely terrace. The staff was very helpfull and made us lovely diners. We liked our stay here so much. You have to walk through the garden to reach the beach, where you can find wooden beds. I you like small guesthouses, I can really recommend this place!
Review 13:Very friendly and helpful staff. The bungalows are located on the most beautiful part of Nilaveli Beach. Nagenahira Beach Villas is very cozy because of its small-scale. They serve very good meals.
Review 14:That we only stayed two nights.
Review 15:Everything!!! Sam is a wonderful host, who really cares about her Clients. The Food was wonderful, especially the deviled prawns and the Rice& Curry. The beach right in front of the Hotel is clean and you can swim without no Problem. We did a snorkeling Tour to pigeon Island, which was also wonderful. I do totally recommend this place. It was one of the best places we stayed while travelling Sri Lanka. The Hotel is beautiful and everything is very clean and new. We just felt like home! A must visit in Nilaveli/Trincomalee. We didn't wanna leave!!!
Review 16:Many insects and geckos inside the room. A mosquito net and some antimosquito plug should be intalled. No bin in the room. Bathroom very warm with no air conditioning. Meals too expensive for the quality. Hotel too expensive in general for the quality offered.
Review 17:Beatiful beach in front with clear water. Large bed and wonderful outdoor shower. They upgraded our booking and we stayed in a villa in front of the beach, thank you!
Review 18:Stuff doesn't speak English. Hotel is located very far from city (20kilometers to the center of Trinco). It is under construction, debriswas everywhere, they were still building canopies on the beach when weleft. Don't use their so called "transfer" (it is twice asexpensive as regular price)! Manager dropped us in completely wrongplace despite of all our explanation attempts (he didn't understandthe map either).
Review 19:Beautiful beach. One of the best on Sri-Lanka.
Review 20:Lack lustre welcome, poor English amongst staff and generally a slightly soulless place. No fridge in room and power was intermittent but should improve when the rest of the building work is completed. Maybe a drop in prices until then would improve client satisfaction?
Review 21:Nicely away from the main drag and lovely view of pigeon island. Nice room
Review 22:they asked us to move out the hotel around 6pm if we dont like that fact that they refuse to give accommodation to our driver and assistant. the owner was a women in some other city and was super arrogant and even refuse to allow our driver to have a shower saying they dont allow that. in Sri Lanka hotels give free accommodation, food to the drivers and that is a agreed practice by the government. She and her hotel management know nothing about treating people and should go some other business. and we were also ripped off by outside people which the hotel allow to operate inside the premises. lost 20,000 slr for a stupid boat ride to a rock in the sea.
Review 23:location, room design.
Review 24:Do not take the boat trip offered by the man wearing a backward baseball cap who is supposed to be the "boatman", he is a rip off (I have just informed the owner). Go to Pigeon Island resort next door and reserve a trip, a much better deal, and good people. Excellent snorkeliing at tiny Pigeon Island (reserve) one K. from the beach.
Review 25:great location, great bed, innovative architecture - very pleasing; great air conditioning, beautiful "natural" landscaping, views of the beach and sea from the room - as described. Quiet quaint location, lovely local people. Dine at the Pigeon Island Resort, excellent food and, surprise - wine at good prices, order off of the menu (good value) or buffet (great choices). Good massage available here too. Definitely do a snorkeling trip to Pigeon Island, do not take the expensive trip to so called "coral island" or the lagoon - rip-off.
Review 26:During my stay at the Nagenahira Beach Villa the quality of the service was outstanding. I liked the fact that the villa was facing the beach front as the waking up to the sound of the waves was very calming. I loved how peaceful and relaxing my stay was at the villa.
Review 27:I suggest the open shower recess area with the growing tree in the centre must be enclosed to stop dangerous insects like bees entering.
Review 28:Overall, everything was excellent and the room very new.
Review 29:Nothing
Review 30:Location is superb, nice and quiet beach. They have two villas and a room to rent, we had a room for 4 nights and can say that everything was perfect. Staff is very helpful and will try to help you with everything you ask. if I ever come back to Sri Lanka I will definitely book the place again.
Review 31:Breakfast could have more variety (now it was toast, butter, jam and eggs)
Review 32:New room, modern, nice beach, friendly staff and owners.
Review 33:ants in a bathroom
Review 34:amazing, paradise beach; great location; cosy, small resort; friendly staff; very good food
Review 35:Nice, quiet beach, no tourists, great villas. We enjoyed being there, went snorkling - great experience.
Review 36:No English speaking staff. Construction workers everywhere! Bad food. This place is not ready for guests yet!
Review 37:Amazing beach
