Reviews for Wataya Inn

Review 1:The place isn't really a hostel but a big house that was transformed only by putting bunk beds. Since the owners are not professionals, the place isn't very clean as one would expect. Most of the time they are not in the front desk, so you'll have to look for them around the house. For me the worst was that they didn't accept credit cards and they rushed me to pay in cash.

Review 2:The owners try to be nice

Review 3:This was a cheap inn in the middle of nowhere. It was very hard to find, and the futons were paperthin. It wasn't very easy to sleep.

Review 4:The staff were polite and helpful, the rooms were clean, and it was very affordable.

Review 5:You have to shower by 9 am, that's when the owner starts her cleaning and if you're in a dorm you'll be kicked out of bed. I know 9 am may not seem that early but there is only one showerroom (though nice and spacious) for the whole house. When it's full get up real early to avoid waiting. I stayed for three nights and every morning I had to change rooms, so be prepared that that might happen.

Review 6:Although I did have to change rooms, two nights I had a single room to myself, a kind of upgrade with no extra charge. Also to get to Enoshima (there is nothing great in Fujisawa) they lent me a wobble but free bike! That was very kind!

Review 7:The location is a bit far from train station if you're a backpacker. However, the location is next to a section of the Old Tokaido Road so you can experience it while staying there.

Review 8:It is a typical japanese suburban house. Great experience for a 1st timer to stay.

Review 9:Friendly staff. Mr. And Mrs. Suzuki may be less fluent in English butthey's are trying their best to communicate. Mrs. Suzuki introducedsome great places for eat to me as well. By the way if you speak Chineseor Japanese there will be a great bonus.

Review 10:Maybe the location is not perfect, 15 minutes walking away from the train station and in an area with no restaurant and bar.

Review 11:Staff was not so proficient in English, but they were very helpful and kind to us. Everything was good otherwise!

Review 12:If this place was busy the one bathroom may become a problem, the room has air con which is pay as you go, and the rest of the establishment didn't seem to have any temperature control; which may affect some.

Review 13:The bed, the wifi, and it was clean. Big pro for non smokers there is no where on the property that I could find that I was allowed to smoke, for me a little annoying. Free towel rental. Stayed two nights. Didn't get to chat to the staff much, they left us to settle in... The place may have an interesting history, there were some older photos of an inn of the same name. Nice 10-15 min walk from the closest station if you are not carring much, handy to have gps, the guest house is just behind another house down a little ally. I and a friend were the only ones there at the time, had the place to ourselves. It's fine though, fits the budget.

Review 14:The wife was somewhat abrupt and rude. You have to pay for heat although it is only 100 yen for 2 hours and works well. The room we had was not one of the ones in the picture. There was no common area although we were mostly there to just sleep so it wasn't a big problem. They spoke little to no English.

Review 15:The husband was very nice and helpful. He thanked us for staying at his little place. I don't think they get many foreigners but the location was what we needed for our trip. Everything was super clean. Great Toto toilet.

Review 16:took me a while to figure out the shower in the shared bathroom. You have to turn on the heating or gas for hot water. A little far from the main station. I had noisy neighbours, who shuffling around pretty much half the night.

Review 17:Wifi in the room I was given a very large room for a single traveller. Staff were friendly.

Review 18:no refrigerator. pretty far form Fujizawa station

Review 19:kind owenr and warm service.

Review 20:The room was like it had not been warmed up for some time, so the bed/room was cold and damp.

Review 21:Very friendly staff

Review 22:Quite noisy even during middle of the night as it is located in an intersection of two main roads.

Review 23:Very small and cosy ryokan. The room was spacy.

Review 24:Very clean and comfortable. We stayed in the annex which was perfect for a family with older children. Staff was pleasant and helpful.

Review 25:Lovely stay - very helpful friendly hosts. It was very clean and comfortable.

Review 26:Staff was alright.

Review 27:The home is very nice. Not hard to find.

Review 28:Dorm bed too short for 182 cm. tall like me.

Review 29:Bicycle park at back of house.

Review 30:Good home cooked dinners (Japanese style) accommodating a vegetarian. Easy commute by trains to Kita-Kamakura and Kamakura.
