Reviews for Risby Cove
Review 1:The lady who greets you makes you feel like you are a bit of an inconvenience she said to the lady in front of me ''we don't do breakfast''
Review 2:The water view room and restaurant and a visit from the local geese in the morning
Review 3:Beds were a little uncomfortable, everything else was great
Review 4:Walking distance to everywhere in Strahan. Comfortably furnished. Friendly staff. On-site restaurant (unfortunately closed on Mondays, the night we stayed)
Review 5:Only because you asked: Only thing which needs improving was a guest laundry which needs an update on appliances. In every other way, it was a beautiful place to stay.
Review 6:Really nice accomodation in a very beautiful part of the world. Platypus swimming in the water. Beautiful outlook. Proprietor is an interesting local with lots of good conversation.
Review 7:Rooms are quite hot due to the lack of ventilation. In addition, the room layout is not particularly well thought. Whilst restaurant food was very good, level of service and attitude (due to New Years eve) was less than expected.
Review 8:Location and outlook
Review 9:The place is poorly built and unmaintained poor cleanliness no cooling and you can not open any windows in lower level rooms The noise from upstairs occupants walking around was very loud uncomfortable bed
Review 10:The location is excellent and the restaurant was very good
Review 11:We thought the restaurant was just average.
Review 12:Had a lovely view from our upstairs apartment. The accomodation is simple, rustic decor and also comfortable. The lady at reception was helpful. The Gordon River cruise is a must do.
Review 13:There was a mix up with our booking which meant a bit of a delay when checking in after a long drive. The washing machine and dryer in the guest laundry was dirty and full of lint.
Review 14:Lovely meal and breakfast was available the 2nd morning which was great.
Review 15:Decor a bit out dated. Staff disinterested but efficient. We expected more modern facilities or staff enthusiasm for the room rate.
Review 16:The availability of the fridge/freezer, kettle and toaster in the room. Great location. Beds comfortable. Complementary Port and chocolate nice.
Review 17:The only thing I did not like was a very demanding guest who gave the staff in the restaurant a very unnecessary difficult time and to their great credit they managed to remain polite and courteous.
Review 18:Great facilities, great view, very convenient location, absolutely fabulous restaurant (needed gluten free). The Manager was very helpful booked our important cruise and told us everything we needed to know.
Review 19:Reception was very hit and miss - the lady on reception made everything seem to be too difficult, and despite saying she'd be on duty at 0800, she still wasn't there at 0815 - no key drop, so had to leave key in room. No restaurant breakfast available, or items in rooms - had to walk into town
Review 20:the room was comfortable and quiet with great views - the restaurant dinner was very good and the manager Dannika was excellent - stylish and knowledgeable. A 10 minute walk to town centre...despite it advertising itself as in the centre.
Review 21:Reception staff was rude no customer service. Booked in for an ocean view on check in got told we could see the water from the kitchen window the most expensive stay on our trip and the most disappointing
Review 22:Our accommodation was disappointing. While the room was clean and comfortable, it had no outlook, was stuffy, and noisy at night from above. It did not match the advertised facilities of balcony, privacy and outlook. Unfortunately, while the restaurant food was good, the service was unprofessional.
Review 23:convenient for exploring Strahan
Review 24:All good.
Review 25:Great apartment on the harbour just a 5 minute waterside walk to the Gordon River ferry terminal. Lovely water views and a very good restaurant on site. Have some bread ready for the ducks.
Review 26:We arrived late at 7pm after a long drive and didn't know where to get a meal. We decided the restaurant was the easiest option and WOW- the food and service was Excellent!!!!
Review 27:Having to sidestep the same goose droppings on a pathway to our room the entire duration when it could have easily been hosed away (I almost did the hosing myself). The wifi was very patchy and mobile coverage in the area is Telstra or nothing.
Review 28:The location was beautiful and the area very peaceful.
Review 29:We stayed 2 nights in the 'Boatshed',single storey looking out onto Risby Cove.Beautifully quiet with resident ducks and 2 very friendly geese. Staff were friendly and helpful and the restaurant very good.
Review 30:No cooking facilities except microwave and no microwavable bowls etc. An electric frypan or cooking press etc would be helpful. The veranda is extremely dangerous when icy.
Review 31:View is outstanding. Warm, cosy and delightful set up.
Review 32:Close location to everything around Strahan. Little extras like daily chocolates, Port nightcap and heated floors and towels. Excellent restaurant and we had a great view from our room.
Review 33:we were turned away from the restaurant after waiting over 15 minutes for a table because they were understaffed, I understand this, however we would of been happy to have a drink and wait. In saying that we had eaten there the night before and it was wonderful.
Review 34:gorgeous location, great food
Review 35:Lack of Lighting in Car park Car Park Surface as it was unfinished made it very soft and muddy
Review 36:Comfort of Bed Nice Bathroom Plunger Coffee Electric Blanket
Review 37:We arrived and we're immediately told that the restaurant was fully booked for that evening. Wasn't a big deal as the township had plenty of options. However no breakfast option was a huge disappointment for us and the rooms are certainly starting to show there age.
Review 38:The position is great. It's an easy walk into the town and sitting on the balcony looking over the water with a glass of wine with friends is lovely.
Review 39:Rooms did not take full advantage of the view. Bathroom was dark and laid out oddly. There was no mirror over the sink for shaving.
Review 40:Nice view of bay area in Strahan; friendly staff. Room was comfortable and well-appointed. Restaurant was nice for dinner.
Review 41:Great location, set nicely amongst the melaleuca on the shores of Macquarie Harbour, looking back across the water towards the fishing/tourist village of Strahan. Very clean and spacious apartment, and the whole complex run with concern for the sensitive environment it operates in. Staff were friendly and informative, and genuinely interested in their guests and their guests (life) stories and reasons for visiting.
Review 42:Lukewarm welcome, restaurant was closed (not sure if this was a seasonal or staffing issue). Showing its age in some areas.
Review 43:Location, and views. Proximity to town, (short walk along the esplanade). Clean and spacious, met our needs.
Review 44:It was just a basic setup, with cramped facilities. The shower was in the bath. The fridge leaked all over the floor. The staff were not very interested in this problem. The port they provided in a decanter had no label and could have had anything in it. The windows are not double glazed.
Review 45:The location was OK.
Review 46:Had booked especially for the restaurant, but not advised until check in that it was closed, which was very disappointing. Woken many times at night by people moving overhead so more insulation needed!
Review 47:Roomy accommodation, close to main village. A bit tired for the price.
Review 48:No Air Conditioning or even ceiling fans. Unable to leave door open at night for fresh air as wire door lock was broken. Free wifi did not work.
Review 49:The View.
Review 50:It was so quiet and peaceful and easy walking distance to the wharf and local taverns. Lovely welcome and very comfortable accommodation. Would go back again.
Review 51:Not a thing!
Review 52:The stunning view ..the cosy cottage accomodation.and comfy bed..the adorable ducks and geese and the scrumptious brekkie...was a very relaxing stay..would highly recommend Risby Cove..is secluded yet 10 minutes from town centre.
Review 53:Wish their own restaurant had been open for dinner as breakfasts were good. They were not sure when restaurant opening for dinner but think they do have a chef!
Review 54:Great location particularly for Wilderness Railway and boat cruises, walking distance to nearby restaurants, shops etc. waterfront position of room lovely for great sunsets and sitting outside. Lovely breakfast in the restaurant. Really pleasant, helpful staff.
Review 55:Nothing.
Review 56:The location (absolute waterfront overlooking Strahan harbour) and the room's amenities and level of comfort were excellent. Probably one of the better places we have ever stayed and will definitely return
Review 57:The hotel is situated between the road and the sea with an uninterrupted view of Macquarie Harbour. Our spacious suite had a living area, bedroom and veranda overlooking the harbour.
Review 58:The accommodation next to the bay. The quietness and seclusion. I enjoyed the walks around the area, the close proximity to the small town. The picturesque countryside was breathtaking.
Review 59:Ideally situated for activities in and around Macquarie Harbour and the Gordon River. Wonderful on all accounts including breakfasts. I could easily live there. Many thanks to Chris and Lisa.
Review 60:Wall/floor a little thin, we could hear our neighbours downstairs.
Review 61:Service, location & facilities were excellent. The night we stayed saw an amazing sunset from our balcony.
Review 62:Everything was great.
Review 63:Fantastic view. Charming fishing village look with modern facilties. Staff very warm and friendly offering helpful suggestions for sightseeing.
Review 64:Perfect location Wonderful staff Excellent restaurant (our meals were delicious!) Will definitely visit again :) The Sawmill suite is perfectly located right on the water.
Review 65:Virtually no wifi from cabin so had to go to balcony of main building ie outside as no public area to use in evening. Very limited kitchen equipment.
Review 66:Spa bath luxurious. Balcony room was very comfortable and spacious and well appointed with nice view. Cabin was smaller and less well appointed yet both same price.
Review 67:Tv reception was very poor Blinds were not blockout Harbour room had laundry next to it & were woken by washing machine early in morning Every noise could be heard from room above Restaurant food was ok but waited 1.5 hrs for our meal, very understaffed & very expensive for what it was
Review 68:Location View (only from more expensive rooms though)
Review 69:only a show in the bath no hand rails ?? restaurant very poor one hour to wait for our meal very noisy in the kitchen the food was not well prepared no bread rolls etc
Review 70:location
Review 71:I would have enjoyed a walk-in shower but could understand a bath was better for younger families.
Review 72:The position was excellent, very restful & scenic. Restaurant had a variety of excellent food & staff were pleasant & efficient. The complimentary wine etc. in the room were appreciated. My 6 daughters & I enjoyed our stay - Thank you.
Review 73:The first impression of Risby Cove when arriving was not indicative of the establishment. Thankfully it just got better!
Review 74:Stayed in the Jetty Room. Great views along the Strahan waterfront and bay. In summer would be the perfect location.
Review 75:Wooden floors allowed noise from upper suites. But this was not too much of an issue. Breakfast should have been available.
Review 76:Location. Outlook and friendly manager.
Review 77:Bed was uncomfortable and so were the pillows. We had a unit above us and there was a lot of noise early in the morning as people got ready for the days outing so you were awake from about 6am. The restaurant menu wasn't very varied.
Review 78:location beside the water and close to everything
Review 79:There was nothing that we did not like about our experience
Review 80:Very clean Complimentary port Good quality linens and towels Electric blankets Comfy bed and pillows Tv in both lounge and bedroom Warm- good heating.
Review 81:We were greeted by the lovely Shiela who was very friendly and showed us to our room (2 bedroom apartment on top floor) which had fantastic views over Strahan and the Gordon River. Complimentary port and chockies were lovely. It was a shame the weather wasnt so good but cant be helped. Loved feeding the ducks from the balcony.
Review 82:check in poor having been asked to come back in 30mins as receptionist busy.
Review 83:views great large well equiped room.
