Reviews for Hotel Hakuba
Review 1:The beds are hard as a rock and extremely uncomfortable. The hotel isn't really in walking distance of any restaurants.
Review 2:I loved the kitchenette and the access to the shuttle.
Review 3:It was quite a long walk from town. We had to walk about 1.8 km to go go A-Coop.
Review 4:I liked that the hair dryer was right next to me. It was really convenient for me to blow dry my hair at night after a long day.
Review 5:far away from other restaurant , supermarket .... Need time to wait shuttle bus to ski place.
Review 6:It's clean , polite , the room is big , good facilities and resultant.
Review 7:The location was good, a walk or short ride from the station and from restaurants, by a stream, with a lovely view from the room. There is a good, useful shop in the hotel lobby, and a small indoor and outdoor onsen, which I was brave enough to try, as instructions about onsen etiquette were provided, along with a robe/yukata.
Review 8:Nice place but we come when low season don't have activities for us . Quiet town but good atmosphere,I ride bike around this town and take pictures it's very good. Staff can't speak English have once can but it's no problem. Oh at the room have a good view too very very nice.
Review 9:If it is snowing a lot, you may need to use taxi for 1000yen to reach night restaurants. The futon in the triple room was uncomfortable to sleep on but manageable.
Review 10:Excellent shuttle options to reach the ski fields. Great onsen. Very affordable ski rental and great drying room, very secure. Wifi worked well. Staff very helpful.
Review 11:Outside takeaway food cannot be ordered to the hotel or brought into the hotel/rooms. When I went to order pizza using their phone at reception, they refused and advised me of the hotel rules. Its a shame because nothing is walking distance to the hotel, only option is $40 p/p buffet in their hotels restaurant. Though they did call a taxi to take us into town
Review 12:The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Great price for what you get. Loved the kitchenette in the room and plenty of space in the room. Great views from the room along with a small standing balcony.
Review 13:This hotel has no laundry services of any description. The nearest is a taxi ride away, so this was a bit of a show stopper for me. There is also no bar, just a vending machine, as this hotel is a distance from the village area you either have an early night or get back in the taxi.
Review 14:Room size was good by Japanese standards.
Review 15:They have shuttle bus, make sure you use it. Don't try to walk to it from Hakuba station cause its farer than you think it is and there are no signs for the hotel. Make sure you call the hotel prior for a shuttle bus or just take a taxi.
Review 16:Nice hot spring, breakfast buffet was great. Staff speaks english pretty well. Room was nicely comfortable for a long stay.
Review 17:The fact that they had NO Laundry service Bed options only single legs hung of the end. No bar at all Location is remote costs 1000 Yen to get anywhere
Review 18:I liked the Onsen That's it
Review 19:Not prime location, No staff members spoke enough English or give enough information to coordinate shuttles/other activities in the area
Review 20:The experience, cleanliness, facilities
Review 21:They don't offer room service and the only food available is a buffet which I felt was overpriced. The hotel decor and room was very dated. I felt the overall cost for the stay was overpriced.
Review 22:The wifi was good and the rooms were well sized.
Review 23:The staff was extremely courteous and helpful in all ways. The hotel is in a central location to all mountains and the train station. They have a small kitchenette in the room, which would be convenient if you cooked. We did not use it; instead we ate at the hotel restaurant which had a dinner and breakfast buffet with a large selection. The hotels Onsen is top rate and clean. It is a terrific hotel. *Note: if you do not speak japanese, you may have some difficulty. The staff does not really communicate to well in english.
Review 24:Staff really struggle with English, location is a bit far out and there are no free shuttles into town except a few infrequent services to the ski slopes
Review 25:Really nice onsen and good breakfast spread
Review 26:Not that I didn't like it, but I hope they can improve more in communicating with their customers by speaking in English. Hope they put priority on this.
Review 27:Foods!!!!
Review 28:Have to get used to understand how the bus timetable works and inter resorts transfer within the same day is time consuming.
Review 29:Definitely the bus service n bus stops right in front of hotel. Take advantage of the ski hire at hotel, it's good deal tho not the latest ski equipment. Some great local restaurants around if you asked the staff.
Review 30:The price was the main issue 15000 yen for an average room is too much. Nothing special about the room or the hotel
Review 31:Staff were friendly and happy to help. Nice view from room
Review 32:Communication is sometimes an effort, as the staff aren't fluent in English, but they are extremely helpful and accommodating.
Review 33:Free shuttle bus to all skiing resorts right outside hotel door. Free ski locker. Mix of English and Japanese breakfast options (both delicious). Staff are amazing.
Review 34:Bit old, Snowboard/ Ski Hire from the Hotel has limited range of gears, Restaurant inside the hotel is a bit overpriced in my opinion
Review 35:Spacious Room, Clean, Indoor and Outdoor Onsen, Walking distance to restaurants and Shuttle Bus from and to Station. Receptionist most helpful to book Shuttle Bus to any Ski Park
Review 36:The location. It was kind of in the middle of nowhere, no restaurants near it. First, we have to walk around 10-15 minutes to get to the nearest restaurant. Second, my kids took some courses in Evergreen for snowboard/ski lessons in Kokusai Slope, it was very easy to get there but very hard to reach the hotel after lessons. It took us almost 2 hours to get a shuttle bus to hotel. I do not recommend this hotel if you are bringing kids or its your first time to Hakuba. Third, they cancelled a pick-up after we went to the Snow Monkey Tour, we had to walk around 15-20 minutes from where the tour bus dropped us and it was freezing cold.
Review 37:The staffs, even they don't speak English very well, they're trying their best to help you....
Review 38:Nothing! Can't wait to book for next year.
Review 39:Incredible service, even with limited English the staff were insightful & above & beyond helpful with everything we needed. Free wifi, ski rentals next door to the hotel were easy & affordable with skis, poles, goggles AUD $100 for 5 days, free ski lockers also next door to hotel. Breakfast was included & fantastic; local options plus a western menu. Free shuttles to different ski slopes but when we missed the last shuttle our hotel drove us there! Onsen was amazing after a day of skiing, view from our room was seriously beautiful. I am still stunned by the value for money we received from hotel hakuba.
Review 40:Location, you're dependent on the shuttle busses.
Review 41:Onsen was great. WiFi very fast. Staff very serviceoriented allthough there was only few that could speak english well.
Review 42:The staff were always friendly and helpful. The rooms were very comfortable, excellent heating but also with an outside door if it got too warm. The onsen was a miracle cure for the aches and pains of skiing. The hire place next door was very convenient. And the view was just amazing! We had a fabulous time and hope to return.
Review 43:Should sell microwave food at the store in the hotels as there is microwave provided in the room. That will make the hotel a perfect place to stay
Review 44:The friendlyness n patience of the hotel staff!!! The excellent service of the ski rental staff!!! Short ride to ski resort area
Review 45:The staff were very friendly and helpful. Wonderful breakfast every morning and very relaxing onsen. We would stay again. Ps loved the family room with the tatami area.
Review 46:No room service after hours Need free shuttle to restaurant area after dark
Review 47:Loved the Ibsen at hotel especially after skiing during the day Nearest restaurant to hotel is 12 mins walk away so csn be disadvantage when you arrive late at hotel first nite Good and easy having ski rental place at hotel - very convenient Shuttles to ski slopes also good
Review 48:This hotel was awesome and great value for money. Beautiful inside and out with great views, nice Japanese breakfast, wonderful staff and convenient free transfers to the ski fields. Rental equipment for skiing/snowboarding is available for a cheaper price than what we saw elsewhere. We loved this hotel and felt so comfortable here.
Review 49:Room was tiny but that seemed to be the norm in Japan.
Review 50:Clean hotel and a good location.
Review 51:Far from conveniet stores
Review 52:Wifi is very fast
Review 53:Staff spoke very little English, beds and pillows very hard! Self catering facilities extremly poor.
Review 54:Garden surrounds, mountain view
Review 55:Smoking room
Review 56:Staff excellent.
Review 57:Bed very hard, noisy in mornings.
Review 58:Fantastic views, free shuttle buses to and from ski fields.
Review 59:Couldn't cook on little stove nothing to cook in
Review 60:Very comfortable, very clean and very friendly
Review 61:Restaurant was all buffet.
Review 62:All rooms looking out on the mountains wonderful.
Review 63:Great hotel, amazing staff who are more than happy to help you reserve bookings, location is further away from town centre but an easy walk and buses come fairly often. Lovely experience all around!
Review 64:Nothing!
Review 65:The best part of this hotel is the amazing staff! Everyone was super friendly and incredibly helpful! The second best part of this hotel is definately the (very clean) onsen! Breakfast (Japanese style) was good too with great variety. Shuttle buses to various ski resorts stop right in front of the hotel and ski rental is next door. There are also some good restaurants within walking distance!
Review 66:So glad we chose this hotel as although it was in a western style the whole experience was totally Japanese. The staff were incredible, nothing was too much trouble. The Onsen is a must too. It's a 10 minute stroll to the main central area so no problem. They'll happily run you around in the shuttle bus if you pre- book it too.
Review 67:Very good hotel! Nice staff, awesome view from top floors, and mountain river on the side. Free Japan bath in the hotel must use after skiing. Little bit far (1km) from Hakuba center, but we always go by walk.
Review 68:Location a bit away from nightlife (still walkable distance)
Review 69:Excellent staff, great hospitality, option to have a breakfast included, quiet hotel, ski hire shop whitin, free shutle buses to slopes and back, overall cleanliness
Review 70:Staff were very helpful and assisted where possible. Ski shuttles to all resorts were accessable on doorstep of hotel. Ski hire and storage in same area making easy days for skiing. appartment Accommodation, lots of space with two bedrooms, lounge w/TV, sepp. Bath and toilet area.
Review 71:It was a bit isolated from Happo Village. The first floor smelled smoky from the smoking room.
Review 72:The staff were helpful, even though only a few spoke English. The rooms were comfortable and large for a Japanese hotel. The breakfast buffet was good, but mainly comprised Japanese food. The onsen was excellent - we went to the supposed "best onsen in Hakuba", which is a few hundred metres away, but I think the hotel onsen was better. Buses to the ski resorts picked up and dropped off at the hotel. The ski house was large and had lockers. Overall, the hotel was great.
Review 73:Cigarette smell in some areas Japanese food was not identified so wecould not make an informed decision on what to eat.
Review 74:Fantastic views from room and restaurant. Excellent shuttle bus serviceVery comfortable room but sometimes too hot and airconditioning did notallow fan to cool the room
Review 75:Decor is a bit dated. Bed was a bit uncomfortable- mattress was abit lumpy.
Review 76:The onset is wonderful. The breakfast was very good- both Japanese andwestern style available. Lovely views from all windows.
Review 77:The onsen was awesome and clean!!
Review 78:Leaving
Review 79:great staff good food very nice hotel !

Review 81:Excellent place to stay, great location and the staff were excellent.
Review 82:Nothing
Review 83:Everything
Review 84:somewhat distant from slopes
Review 85:nice surroundings if xc skiing
Review 86:Needs a Bar.
Review 87:Nice hotel, friendly and helpful staff, courtesy van.
Review 88:Lovely onsen, good views from the room, great bus service to the slopes from right outside the entrance
