Reviews for Grand Hotel Huis ter Duin
Review 1:Spa (sauna) is only open at noon and solarium was already closed at 5 pm, so after using spa in late afternoon it was not possible use wellness facilities, and in the morning next day was not possible to go to sauna, which is a bit annoying as the hotel is presented as spa hotel. We stayed in a double room, but unfortunately on king size bed were provided two single blankets, when we requested a king duvet the response from the staff was that this is not possible for a standard room - so why to bother to place a king size bed without providing king duvets?
Review 2:Location is great Front desk staff is very kind and provides all the necessary information, so after check in there is no need to contact reception with basic questions Beautiful facility Bar is extremely cozy Spectacular view even with a land view Everything was very clean
Review 3:We missed as elderly people a mini breakfast. Just Tea and one or more mini snacks would be fine. We missed the possibility to order fresh orange juice from the bar in the lounge.
Review 4:Room service was very poor, we arrived at 11.05 and could not get any food so ordered room service but had to wait a very long time and it was not good when it came, we did not get charged but I was very hungry so big let down.
Review 5:Staff was very friendly although bar staff very slow. Nice location, beautiful hotel and rooms.
Review 6:With a roomrate of over 500 euros a night it is the first time visiting 4 or 5 star hotels that we are charged 2 euros to use the room coffeemaker,Per CUP......A pettiness without words.
Review 7:The style of the hotel,it's location except the suite bathroom, which is made of inferior material and does not really fit in with the beautifully done room/suite
Review 8:The breakfast is expensive and not that good. I would like more home made jams and artisan breads eg. And the opportunity to order eggs and other hot dishes a la carte.
Review 9:Breakers restaurant is lovely and the location of the hotel on the beach is great.
Review 10:the old section of the hotel is more like a 2 or 3 star level .... old and not that clean ... After complaining got into the new section which was acceptable....
Review 11:Location and service
Review 12:Ontbijtbuffet niet helemaal op niveau.
Review 13:Rust, stijl, comfort, uitstraling. Gerenoveerde kamers hebben goede bedden. Mooie suite. Fantastisch strandpavillioen. Gezellige lounge.
Review 14:The Hotel is wonderfull but management missed to invest over the last 15 years. I have come here 10 times since and nothing has changed, the management only starts now to renovate rooms, the staff service is terrible at breakfast as there are too few waiters meaning that the fruit salad empties fast and plates are constantly out of stock. While clean and very cozy, our room has not been renovated for years, the telephone and radio were old. Same picture in the bathroom, all nice and clean but old. This is a pitty as the Hotel wants to claim 5 stars and sets the prices accordingly. But competing with 5-6 star hotels across Europe, the management team has to live up to expectations of their guests. If it chooses not to the 5th star will be lost in 4 years at the very latest. That would be a shame.
Review 15:Location, sea view, breakers beach house, bed, cleanliness in the room, pool and nice sauna (fits 5-6 persons), wonderfull sitting area outside towards the sea
Review 16:I liked everything, but feel for 250€ a night the rooms could have been a little nicer. Do not get me wrong, great place; but bathroom could use upgrading and carpet in room a little run down.
Review 17:Overall, staff was super! They were a great help with directions to local attractions and offer great advice for parking in Amsterdam. Fantastic view of the Sea from room!
Review 18:Wonderful meal in Breakers Beach House but €6.50 for a bottle of tap water was definitely excessive! Not even a screwed on cap. Shame.
Review 19:Wonderful location and superb sea views. Great choice of pillows!
Review 20:I could imagine some people would be thrown off by the fact that the hotel could here and there do an update/grade, however we were able to appreciate the patina on this establishment that has been rising from the dunes of Noordwijk for well over a century!
Review 21:Professional, welcoming, polite staff Very large room, see sight as promised Very large bed, clean and comfy Average age of guests was about 50 years over ours, but we still had a great stay, very relaxing.
Review 22:Parking space up front was not announced as paying - could easily have parked on the street outside the hotel and saved myself the charge. Also, I booked a room with breakfast included on Booking.com, only to discover that there is an option to have breakfast thrown in for free.
Review 23:Great facilities - one of the best hotel pools ever and very clean!
Review 24:Huge pillows on bed, a bit to big for me, scaffolding on building but that will come off soon and we did know prior to stay, overall very pleasant stay with swim in pool oh we weren't to keen on getting naked in the Sauna etc we are British lol
Review 25:Balcony and sea view amazing, great parking in front of hotel and food was amazing great staff
Review 26:The hotel is/was redoing its entire seaside building front. We paid up for a seaside room which frankly was more a view of a some fine scaffolding. Also, the bathroom did not smell too fresh and beauty/wellness could not be booked on the weekend anymore.
Review 27:Access to beach
Review 28:Our (specifically requested) sea side view was limited due to reconstruction activities. EUR 12.50 for parking feels bureaucratic given the total sum spent during a weekend
Review 29:Friendly staff, great location, great food
Review 30:People at reception unprofessional. Invoiced twice the room and even after the cancellation the extra payment was taken from my account. Now have to fight... Never go there again!
Review 31:- 1pet €47,50: too expensive - 2 pets 2x €47,50: very ridiculous. In the information they say that "they may charge you". But it is "they will double charge you".
Review 32:- Location
Review 33:There are 3 types of pillows available in the room: hard, harder, rockhard. Unfortunately only found out late at night so did not bother to call housekeeping at that time. Apparantly housekeeping does have softer pillows if needed. So tip: test the pillow already in the afternoon to avoid midnight dissapointment. Rooms are clean but in need of renovation as the style brings you right back to the 90s.
Review 34:Location is great, their beach club is fantastic, the breakfast buffet has plenty to choose from. Booked a land view and got upgraded to sea view :-). Rooms are very spacious.
Review 35:Bathroom bit old. Furniture old. Slow check-in (long wait)
Review 36:Very nice view. Room was very clean and quiet. Good flatscreen TV Good breakfast buffet Friendly staff
Review 37:It was dark for me in room so this stressed me a little. We were given wrong information that our invoice would be without details (I wanted only total sum).
Review 38:Absolute cleanliness. Impeccable courtesy of staff. Very nice breakfast Very good steam room and swimming pool. Luxury hotel !!!
Review 39:Excessive price of the Breakfast (29€) - no champagne Excessive price for the Parking (13€) - outside Room was not clean (bathroom) Bed was not comfortable for a 5* Service at breakfast was slow (15 minutes for coffee) Service not 5* level (unfriendly) Supplement for children (1 year old) Dogs are allowed at the hotel and are everywhere Children are not welcomed...
Review 40:Free and good Wifi connection Nice location on the beach
Review 41:Room furniture and trimmings are outdated Freestanding aircon (noisy and unaesthetic) should not be present in such a hotel Balcony was dirty and messy
Review 42:Location Cleanliness Breakfast Friendliness of the staff
Review 43:Spa and pool area is pretty small and run down - it really doesn't reflect well on the rest of the hotel. They should close it, or re-do it from scratch. A bit on the edge of the centre of town but its only a 10 min walk away.
Review 44:One of the best hotels in Noordwijk and at a good price. Large car park. Nice building with direct route to beach bar and sea.
Review 45:Single Duvets on king size beds Had to pay to use sun beds restaurants booked out for private venues rooms were standard for the price no tea or coffee in the room versus the price.
Review 46:The view The breakfast Breakers close to the sea Champaign at breakfast the TV and wireless
Review 47:The cost of breakfast was hugely over priced at Euro 55 for a coupleparticularly considering the quality. The lack of coffee makingfacilities was a further disappointment. Coffee making facilities are agiven in Australia, usa and Asian countries.
Review 48:The old charm atmosphere and service was very good and we particularlyliked the Beachhouse.
Review 49:It was too expensive, facilities wasn't same as they described and we saw mouse in the bar and restaurant and we got a photo of it.
Review 50:I like the location, food.
Review 51:beds are a bit soft and uncomfortable . No coffee or tea facilities in the rooms.
Review 52:Amazing views and outlets. Award winning Michelin star resturant cuisine, not to be missed. Privacy
Review 53:On the last morning we found after a returning from a walk at 08.30am that the maid was already preparing the room for the next guests although the room was clearly still occupied. The toilet was old and needed regular help to stop running. The shower was awkwardly placed and difficult to set at right temperature. All in all, we were disappointed after having had much beter experience in the past.
Review 54:The location of this hotel is super. Parking is never a problem and the personnel at the front desk is friendly and helpful.
Review 55:The hotel seems understaffed. There was nobody to help us unload the car. The staff was sometimes undertrained, if not rude. It was hard to believe for a 5 star hotel.
Review 56:The room, the food at the beach club restaurant and the indoor swimming pool
Review 57:Wifi had a poor quality signal in the room (4th floor). Air condidn't work in room. Parking is a ridiculous 12.50 euros a night!Price paid on booking.com was not total cost. Small print shows 3.65euros pp/pn
Review 58:Big luxury rooms Comfy bed and good choice of pillows Good location, right on the beach
Review 59:Toilet a bit old, can see a lot of scale and stubborn stains in the toilet bowl. At some corners, you can see molds and dust. There is a bottle of wine on the desk, don't how long it has been there, and how long it has not been dusted, because you can see it is covered with dust. All these are small points, do not affect my liking and rating of the hotel, but since it is graded as a 5 star luxury hotel, such small details should be attended to.
Review 60:Comfortable hotel on the beach, relaxed, not crowded or commercial as in other famous beach resorts. Staff friendly and helpful. Good size rooms. Lounge and restaurant very good too.
Review 61:Everything and the food, exelent!
Review 62:The food
Review 63:Get rid of the rats!!
Review 64:Location excellent
Review 65:A very nice stay. Expensive but very nice!
Review 66:Service & Luxury
Review 67:no hospitality tray in room..room interior bit dated
Review 68:location
Review 69:Don't understand why hotel guests have to pay for sunbeds & umbrella etc on the beach.
Review 70:Location, Breaker's & bar in lobby area.
Review 71:-----

Review 74:The discoloured toilets in the bedrooms
Review 75:Helpful staff
Review 76:didn´t miss a thing! and very friendly staff (especially the reception!)
Review 77:TV remote was a bit tempermental and the TV shut off on occasion without explanation
Review 78:Everything was up to the usual high standard
Review 79:Excellent breakfast buffé! Spacious room with a balcony and a nice view.
Review 80:This is a lovely peaceful hotel. In a good location with very helpful pleasant staff. Good breakfast nice pool and sauna.
Review 81:During our stay there was construction work on a saturday afternoon; this made a lot of noise
Review 82:The location is great, the room is fantastic
Review 83:We had a room and there was work going on on the outside.....We got another room where there was no work. Excellent service
Review 84:Staff was hardly visible Rooms get outdated for 5 star hotel / old bathroom Facilities in room limited
Review 85:Location Style Fitness Breakfast
Review 86:Not enough staff at the reception and waiting at the elevator.
Review 87:Location, the view
Review 88:it was noisy during the night I could hear other people celebrating something
Review 89:the location and view is top good diner and breakfast
Review 90:Old accomodation. Worn out bathroom, poor breakfast
Review 91:Sea, club below in the cellar,
Review 92:The decor and paintwork (especially outside) are now looking dated and are in need of revitalising.
Review 93:Wonderful location overlooking the sea.
Review 94:Location superb / great terrace / nice beachclub with good food.
Review 95:Bathroom too small Beds too narrow Placement of nightstands
Review 96:Beachclub Terraces Friendliness of staff Restaurant Latour
Review 97:queue into the checkout
Review 98:Staff, hidden costs, service
Review 99:Location, quality of amenities
Review 100:Service on the terrace was good. We had to remind the staff to inform us about a few questions we had.
Review 101:We liked the location and the architecture of the building
Review 102:Extra payment of Eur 12.50/night for baby. Payment of parking while there is a hugh (empty) parking lot.
Review 103:Close to the beach. Good service. Good WIFI
Review 104:WiFi signal in the room was not very strong. Sauna/steam room/pool close already at 9pm.
Review 105:The service of the staff is outstanding! Cleaners, receptionist, bar + restaurant staff ... I have not a single complaint. That is how service should be! The lounge is very nice - swimming pool and sauna/steam room are excellent.
Review 106:When the beach restaurant Breakers is overbooked w non-hotel guests, the staff get stressed and there is no service anymore. But the setting is nice!
Review 107:The location is perfect, direct at the beach. Rooms are spacious. Some of the staff members were excellent, some v unfriendly and not professional.
Review 108:Couldn't use Breakers (beach club) during our stay, as it was hired out for a wedding, then for a company event. Be nice to let the guests use the facilities, maybe make a little area available all the time? Not enough reception staff when we checked in. Parking card did not work, and had to go back to reception for a new one.
Review 109:The location is excellent, and the range of facilities (lounge areas, restaurant areas) is wide. The staff were generally helpful, and the quality of the rooms, and food was good.
Review 110:We didn't try the breakfast, because it was very expensive, at least for us. It was 27 EUR per person per day, but maybe it worth it, we really didn't try.
Review 111:The hotel was perfect, deluxe room, very nice view to the sea. In the hotel there are big spaces everywhere, nice furnitures where you can have a rest. The wellness departement is well equipped. The employees are very kind and helpful.
Review 112:Noisy freestanding Air conditioning unit in room. But it was necessary to use this as no opening windows and room very hot. Made a lot of noise.
Review 113:Fantastic service from all of the staff. Very relaxed atmosphere in the hotel. Excellent dining facilities.
Review 114:The wife thought the lighting in the bedroom is poor for putting on make up, the toilet had never seen cleaning fluids!
Review 115:Just about everything though food and drink expensive
Review 116:The Spa was nothing special. The massage service was poor, almost like they were not trained on how to give a massage. It was disorganized when we arrived, so it may have been a one time thing, but we found it not relaxing and certainly not worth the time or expense
Review 117:The location of this hotel is perfect for beach lovers and also day trips (Kuekenhof and Amsterdam). The staff is great and the hotel is wonderful. The pool, beach and outdoor areas are really nice. Great value for our money. We look forward to returning.
Review 118:The hotel's luxury was mainly to be found in the public spaces. Our room was very, very basic and dated. There were no coffee / tea-making facilities in the room or chairs on the balcony.
Review 119:Loved the location, as our room overlooked the beach and we watched a beautiful sunset. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The staff was friendly. Free Wi-Fi access.
Review 120:Spa/pool area is slightly out of date, needs a touch-up, clean and neat but not modern anymore.
Review 121:lovely classy chique atmosfere, right on the beach.
Review 122:Breakfast was good, but you can offer fresh orange juice and better (fresh) scrambled eggs for such price
Review 123:Nice classic hotel, beautifully designed, well maintained, great view over then sea and dunes
Review 124:- Long waits at the elevator - Poor fitness area, old not working equipment! - Breakfast long wait for someone to bring (cold) Coffee!
Review 125:- Location - Room - Breakfast buffet very good
Review 126:I find all the services restaurants are over priced... parking eur 12.50 a day ..;
Review 127:the hotel is a 5 star hotel... the facilities are excellent..;
Review 128:N/A
Review 129:I have previously stayed here on business and it was marvelous for my personal vacation as I knew what to expect. Beautiful location right on the beach of the North Sea with many activities. Child and dog friendly and plenty of things for both the kids and the pet to do.
Review 130:the bed was too soft and the 'neighbours' had a dog in their room
Review 131:very friendly staff, breakfast was great, the sea view was awsome, nice room, nice bathroom
Review 132:The price they charge for a standard breakfast is exorbitant. Why woulda 5-star hotel feel justified in charging guests to park in their ampleparking lot? The Engineering Department who maintain the under-performing air-conditioning units missed the memo that mentionedclimate change has arrived in Europe. The room was clean but thegeneral appearance of the hotel and room decor is dark and dated. TheHotel Gift Shops where closed on Monday's, really? I didn'tlike dragging my luggage through the parking lot (95f) into the hotellobby to be met by a bellhop who wanted to know if I needed help takingthe bags to my room.
Review 133:Loved their beach facilities where the staff pamper you without beingpervasive. The sundeck at the beachfront restaurant is superb but beadvised; food and drink prices are high. I enjoyed parking my Fiat 500rental between a Bentley and Ferrari.
Review 134:Not always good service. Had to wave in the restaurants to grab the waiters attention but my 6 year old loves running around so he would go and get them.
Review 135:It was 29 degrees. We loved the Breakers beach place is very nice. Delicious food - very nice decor. Spa fantastic. It is a very large hotel but we had a great time! Very friendly staff
Review 136:Nothing
Review 137:The location at first. Car parking very easy and in front of the hotel. The food and service, the shuttle to the Beach house for our 91 years old mother....perfect
