Reviews for De Maria House

Review 1:If you are driving the location is ideal. When travelling by bus it is okay- it is just outside of town (S. Agata) and only one bus line passes by the stop in front of hotel. This bus will take you to Sorrento. If you want to go to the coast (Positano) you have to backtrack to Sorrento and get a bus there. Make sure you have directions for the bus from Sorrento- take the bus to S. Agata via Mass Lubresse and you will get off at a church and the restaurant Pic Nic. The restaurant is attached to the B&B.

Review 2:Great place- clean with a view. Maria made us a meal when we arrived wet and hungry after getting lost in the rain.

Review 3:Fantastic place! Great hotel, very comfortable, clean, accommodating. Best food. Even if you would not stay there, just stop for dinner. Best Italian home cooking. Deserts and pastries are absolutely delicious. Thank you, Booking, for this hotel. We planned to stay four nights but decided to stay the whole week.

Review 4:We had some difficulty locating the hotel. The location gave us little choice in local restaurants

Review 5:Small and friendly. Good views from the hotel terrace.

Review 6:I really couldn't fault my experience!

Review 7:We arrived slightly later than anticipated, but were greeted and welcomed to the property with such warmth. We were shown to our room with a polished introduction to the guest house and its facilities. Our room was beautiful; very modern, clean, and spacious. We enjoyed a glass of wine on the terrace before sleeping like a log in this very tranquil part of Sant'Agata. The breakfast was delicious; offering a range of hot and cold drinks, pastries, cereals, hard boiled eggs, cheeses, meats, and home made muffins!

Review 8:Breakfast not starting until 8 is too late. Need to leave earlier to get on tours and ferries. Lack of variety for breakfast and dinner. Temperature of shower fluctuated badly. Unfortunate that no bar, pool or sea view.

Review 9:Clean and quiet, except for dogs barking all night. Staff pleasant and tried to help. Nice terrace. Reasonable bus links to Sorrento from outside.

Review 11:Outstanding experience in all aspects - Delicious and delicate food (Breakfast & Dinner), cleanness at the highest level, warm hospitality "from the heart" and professional & excellent service at the highest levels. Pleasant, very comfortable & big rooms, with all you need. Thank you - Teresa, family and professional crew for the wonderful & pleasant time we had at your place !!! We enjoyed so much from our stay at "De Maria House" !! Will recommend our friends and will surely come again once we are around.

Review 12:Wifi network could be improved, the rest is all perfect!

Review 13:It's like visiting the family you never knew you had in Italy - very welcoming, trying to do their best to make you as comfortable as possible. The room is cleaned every day, very large room, lots of light, nice terase outside. The restaurant next to the B&B is a blessing in disguise..one of the best restaurants in the area, delicious and great value for money. Every morning we had fresh home made cakes, it was delicious. The secured parking is also a great facility, especially in this area where parking is scarce. Great place for a vacation!

Review 14:It is a little secluded and away from sorrento . you will need to waitfor the bus and learn the schedule of the bus

Review 15:You feel like if you are at your old grandma's house, a true italianexperience, away from tourists. The people in charge treat you like ifyou are a visiting relative

Review 16:had a delightful stay throughout are time at the maria house, nothing was to much trouble for the staff it was a most pleasant experience , especially miss Assunta and miss Teresa who made us feel at home. we will look forward very much to returning for our next holiday. thankyou for a lovely stay . Tony & Chelsea

Review 17:I spent two weeks at De Maria House and found it very comfortable and I was very well looked after. I was delighted with the large, modern room I had, with a balcony. Lovely breakfasts and very tasty evening meals if you choose to have them, with fabulous views as well. I would definitely go back there - a very friendly family run B&B who take an interest in you having an enjoyable time.

Review 18:Family B&B with a restaurant called Pic Nic, but the name belittles it because a sea food dinner tastes like the real Italian family sea food dinner. What's more, all the cakes served at the morning breakfast are made in-house and also in this case, they taste like the ones my mother used to do. Excellent!

Review 19:We had planned to stay in Sant'Agata regarding our researches which mentions that there were some gourmet restaurants in this town before coming. But De Maria House is 1 km. away from the center of town and you have to walk about 10 minutes(Normally it's not a problem to walk only 10 minutes but we were too tired because we had travelled a lot during the day) or take a SITA bus. Even the SITA Bus stop is just in front of the property, if you want go to center after 5:30 p.m, the bus service is getting limited and obligates you to wait 1 hour. There is not a problem if you want to go to or come back from Sorrento but it's not the same for the reverse direction.

Review 20:De Maria House was by far the best modern, fully-equipped, boutique and classy place among our 9 days trip. We stayed here for 2 nights and it's hard to find a word to describe their amazing breakfast. Normally Italian breakfast is based on sweet food varieties but they even think to offer boiled eggs, 4 kinds of cheese and fresh tomatoes with olive oil and oregano on the top. Wi-fi was flawless. First night of our stay, we went to Sorrento by SITA bus and come back at a late hour; transportation is easy from the property. Second night, we decided to have dinner at their restaurant which is called "Pic Nic". The service, staff and their menu is very satisfactory in Pic Nic, we highly recommend this restaurant too. You will be charmed with the peaceful view.

Review 21:We stayed only one night, but I can say we are absolutely delighted with this guesthouse. We arrived there after a long distance journey and boat trip in Capri so we were quite fatigued. We had a very nice dinner in their restaurant that evening, its an open place with a fantastic view of the hills and fruit garden, the food and service were excellent and not at all expensive. The next morning after a good night sleep in a comfortable bed and a very nice breakfast we continued our trip like new. The location is close to Sorrento, it’s a fairly modern guesthouse and is very clean and tidy. Two floors, not many rooms, it appears that all of them have a balcony opening onto the fruit garden. The room is fairly big with a bath room containing an actual bath, a luxury at this price. The air conditioner works very well and soon had our room at a comfortable temperature. The bed is comfortable and big enough for a couple. Wi-Fi is good. Free secure parking is right next to a lift which takes you to the entrance of the residence. Generally the place has nice, friendly, welcome atmosphere. We both liked the place very much and will stay there again when next in the area.

Review 22:The guesthouse is family operated and our stay was beautifully hosted by the owner. Good parking and a relaxed setting in the countryside. Great breakfast and the location is within easy reach by car of the Amalfi coastal towns.

Review 23:The place, the room was very nice and modern, also it was quiet and good to rest, the windows were into the garden. The pasta in their restaurant was fabulous. The host was very helpful and nice and they have recommended us a very good activity with "Sud Side Kayak".

Review 24:The remote location causes discomfort driving a rented car to and from nearby tourist attractions (narrow and twisting roads).

Review 25:Warm treatment by the owner and her family, home atmosphere, the peaceful nature surrounding, on site parking.

Review 26:The WiFi is terrible. It kept breaking up, and it looks like the routerhas some virus. There was a man in the middle attack that infected allwebsites that did not use https with a script that kept redirecting meto phishing websites and add sites. Be very careful when using theWiFi, and do not attempt unless you are an experienced user who knowshow to handle these kinds of security threats. (Using facebook, gmailis safe, since they use https, and the virus could only infectunencrypted traffic.)The walls are a little too thin, I could hear everything that went on next door... We also noticed that for what ever reason, the light in the room went on sometimes on it's own. It was particularly annoying at night. There are a lot of mosquitoes in the area, and the hotel does not have any facilities to stop them, so take your own.

Review 27:The minute we arrived the old lady who appeared to own the place actedimmediately as if she knew us for ages. She was very kind all along andtried her best to speak English. (Not very common in the region...) Whenwe were leaving, she came after us, so as to say good bye. She makes youfeel like you are visiting your grand mother in Italy :) And in aperfectly good way! Also: don't miss their house specialty in the restaurant! That dish was worth driving from Budapest to Sorrento on it's own!

Review 28:The place was hard to find. At first I was worried it wasn't legit.

Review 29:Very friendly staff, clean room, scenic location. Its location in a small village offers a truly authentic experience. Great restaurant on site.

Review 30:Suberb family run b&b set in the hillside with great views. Very friendly hosts who were accomodating and welcomed us during our stay. Rooms were very clean and comfortable, with everything you need. Good choice for breakfast and we really recommend staying there for dinner. The chef was amazing, true italian home cooked food, which was delicious- the best we had all holiday! Definitely worth a visit!

Review 31:We liked everything about this place. First we booked only one night , however when we've learned about the area and this B&B decided to stay one more night. Hosts are very caring and friendly!

Review 32:a bit hard to find at first - but that was our GPS fault

Review 33:Family owned, and excellent service. Wonderful breakfast feast included. Very helpful with advice

Review 34:We came in fairly late after a little trouble finding the place but once there parking was convenient and the hosts were welcoming. They had dinner that night with wonderful dishes. Breakfast was delicious. Very clean room with patio overlooking the garden. A great place to stay, highly recommended.

Review 35:We wanted to stay out of the touristy section of Sorrento/Capri, and this was a great spot- ideal for hiking, and exploring the area, but very affordable. Very clean, good facilities, no complaints. Hosts were very nice and we had an excellent dinner at the restaurant. Breakfast was great.

Review 36:There is absolutely nothing that we didn't like about De Maria House. It's location is slightly out of the way, but that, for us, just made the opportunity for adventure even greater (make sure you walk up to the beautiful Sant'Agata). If you don't drive - we don't - there is a very regular bus that will take you pretty much anywhere along the coast. Pick up a timetable from reception!

Review 37:From the moment we arrived at De Maria House - Terese was kind enough to meet us off the bus from Sorrento - our stay was nothing short of wonderful. This really is THE hidden gem of the Naples Coast. The rooms are fantastically clean and modern, the food served in Restaurant PIC NIC is to die for (Pizza Bianca is a personal favourite) and the service, well, it's like staying with family. We were made SO welcome. We can't wait to return. Thank you Terese and all the family so much.

Review 38:Everything perfect! Lovely place, great food at their restaurant, nice rooms and a very helpful staff (Teresa, Augusta and Lidia are wonderful persons). 100% recommended!

Review 39:I and my wife loved this place. Everything was perfect. The breakfast is complete! The most delicious I already have had. A lovely family hosted us, with much professionalism. I strongly DO recommend for people visiting Sorrento, Capri and Amalfi Coast. Perfect!

Review 40:The worm hospitality The filling that we are part off the family and the care and advise they gave as. The good food. Every thing in de maria house was the best ever.

Review 41:The location is the only negative point. I would recommend it only if you are travelling by car, since the bus service does not seem very reliable. Beware of the crazy Italian traffic, this is not to be underestimated, especially if your nerves are weak.

Review 42:The facilities are very modern and extremely clean. Ms. Teresa and the whole family are very kind and helpful. The restaurant is really good (do not leave without trying the caprese with tomatoes from their garden!), and when you are a guest in the b&b they will prepare a warm meal for you even if you arrive well after lunch (we arrived near 3pm). The breakfast is also very good (and copious for Italian b&b standards).

Review 43:Nothing

Review 45:This B&B was a little too far from Amalfi Coast where we wanted to be. So we did waste too much time on buses or in our car to get there.

Review 46:It was a modern B&B which was up in the mountains, so very quiet and peaceful!, owners were really nice, and the views were beautiful!, would recommend this B&B.

Review 47:TOO FAR FROM THE AMALFI COAST where we wanted to visit!! We were told to rather go by bus. And the first day we were on a bus for 7 hours!! We were very frustrated and should of taken our own car!! We had been all over Europe for 4 weeks and Really needed to relax and enjoy the beaches on Amalfi !! But ended up spending so much time stuck in traffic etc!! If you want to visit Amalfi POSITANO, SORRENTO, or RAVELLO , rather stay on the coastline! It's more expensive but then you can then park your car at the hotel, and walk everywhere, and it's STUNNING!!

Review 48:This hotel had been renovated so was very modern and beautiful! The mountains surrounding the hotel was really beautiful!!

Review 49:lovely hotel! warm and friendly atmosphere in this family-run hotel, delicious breakfasts and dinners homemade, spacious rooms, convenient parking. Everything was perfect, best place for Sorrento-Amalfi-Capri vacation!

Review 50:hotel was great! very clean with friendly staff. best breakfast we had during our 14 day vacation in italy!

Review 51:I didn t like the quality of the bed and the location

Review 52:Breakfast was excellent!

Review 53:Helpful staff, great cake at breakfast!

Review 54:Nothing.

Review 55:Location, parking was easy, and meals can be provided if asked for. The staff was helpful with information of the place.

Review 56:thank you

Review 57:THE OUTSIDE OF HOTEL

Review 58:FOOD, PIZZA , FREE CARPARKING, TRIP TO CAPRI BOOKED BY OWNERS

Review 59:Food (excellent) Room (clean, modern style) Service (supportive, friendly) Location (no street noise; nice view into the garden)

Review 60:Owners, very nice and polite. Room comfort. Clean . Capucino for breakfast :) .

Review 61:Very good place to stay around Sorrento and the area. Comfortable accommodation, good location, good restaurant , very welcoming hosts .

Review 62:Its hard to find, there is no sign indicating the name of the place, we passed it several times and it wasnt until one of the locals pointed it out to us that we could find it. So make sure you find it on google earth or something otherwise you'll spend a bunch if time looking for it.

Review 63:Super nice hotel, beautiful mountain view and very reasonable price. Food in the restaurant is excellent and they have great house wine. The family running the hotel is very friendly and everyone goes out of the way to help you.

Review 64:Our stay was too short! Note when entering the street name on on gps enter the street "via reola" This street turns into via Regina margherita.

Review 65:Everything! If your looking for a place away after a busy and chaotic day in Sorrento than this is the place to spend the evening on the patio to enjoy a quiet pleasant dinner. The staff and owners are extremely helpful and accommodating.Great hosts and excellent food at very reasonable prices. The owner booked our trip to Capri which was worth the money. Highly recommend.

Review 66:St. Agatha itself is a small town, with not much to see and do in it.

Review 67:Family managed, personal and warm hospitality. Rooms were very clean Very good breakfast with delicious omelette Tasty dinners in their restaurant. Very good value for money. Good recommendation for Capri island tour

Review 68:While the view was beautiful, the location is a bit far from major centres. There is a local bus that stops right out front and runs every half hour so if you don't mind the 20-30 minute bus ride to Sorrento each way then location is not an issue.

Review 69:Staff and facilities were great. A tasty and varied breakfast is included with your booking. The family that runs the B&B are warm and accomodating. The room was spotless and cleaned daily. A lovely view from the window and relatively quiet.

Review 70:Breakfast is from 8 until 10 and we arrived around 9.15. It looked like the guests from the other rooms had already eaten there breakfast but the tables had not been cleared properly. The coffee was on a hot plate and about a third full with extremely stewed coffee that my husband (a strong coffee lover) could not drink. Most of the cakes on offer were very dry. The ham and cheeses looked like they had been sweating for some time. And the proprietors hovered around as we ate which is a little off putting. It is very hard to find the entrance to the B&B, signage could be much better. There was a door to an adjoining room in our room which had a large keyhole through which one could peek if so inclined (I stuffed it with tissue!).

Review 71:The room was spacious and clean. We liked the out of town location.

Review 72:The delightful family that operates this B&B really made us feel athome! We arrived in the area rather late, and had problems finding iteven with a gps, so we called and they actually sent a family member toour location to lead us back to the B&B, and help us to unload ourluggage! The next night we had a delicious dinner of SpaghettiBolognese. We were there for three nights, and they continued to behelpful the entire time, and even invited us into the kitchen to watchthe extended family work together baking the Pasqua cake for Easter.Best of all, that night when we came back, we both got big slices of thefreshly baked cake - wow! It was a wonderful experience and we agreed wewould love to stay there again.

Review 73:Building under construction on outside (adding balconies and an elevator). Work started before 8 am so impossible to open curtains to enjoy light and view in the morning. Work also noisy during day. Will be very nice when completed--nearly done. Ate dinner there twice--no menu or prices. We were surprised at the end to be charged 40 euros for a grilled (very ordinary) fish. We were the only guests for four out of the five nights we stayed but were assigned one of the smaller rooms..

Review 74:Modern, clean, comfortable and family/staff very helpful and kind. Helped us figure out the bus, kept checking with us to make sure everything was OK throughout our visit--very attentive. Breakfasts were good..appreciated private parking.

Review 75:Theresa and her family looked after us very well.We were the only guestsas it was the middle of January and it was lovely. Theresa explained thebus to Sorrento that stops out the front and we used it several timesduring our 4 night stay. Theresa cooked us dinner each night so we didnot have to go out in the dark and cold . The on site parking was anadded bonus and the whole establishment is very modern inside. We reallyenjoyed our stay and recommend it to any one wanting a place nearSorrento. It is only a 30 minute bus trip and costs 1.30 euro each way.We had room 2 which had a view over the local area and it had largeglass doors that opened. It was not a balcony but nice to let in somefresh air. The air conditioning was very modern and could be controlledindividually. The bed was very comfortable and we used the heated towelrack each night to dry our hand washed clothes. We loved our stay, thefamily are so nice and everything is spotlessly clean!

Review 76:The family was very friendly and welcoming and went out if their way to help us, the food was fresh and excellent, the room modern and immaculately clean with a lovely view of the countryside. We enjoyed the peace and quiet, but access to Sorrento was easy with the bus. We highly recommend this place, it has been a highlight of our trip.

Review 77:A few minor points: Breakfast food seemed like left overs from day/s before. And some dishes at the in house restaurant were misses rather than hits.

Review 78:Stayed 2 nights but by far our most comfortable accommodation in Italy during our 2 week holiday. Both my husband, and my mom who had her own room thought so too. Maybe abit hard to find but we had our Tom Tom that led us directly to the parking lot! Spacious and very clean rooms with modern switches much appreciated. A lot of areas in the compound to lounge around. The owners were friendly and approachable :) Hope to be back during spring/summer in future.

Review 79:The Food fist and foremost! Although not in Sant'Agata itself, the location suited us very well as we had walked from Amalfi. The rooms are quiet, well appointed and have good views.

Review 80:Maybe sound-proofing in rooms could have been a bit better

Review 81:Convenience of having such a good restaurant on the premises Welcome from the owners Spacious and comfortable newly appointed rooms Easy access to Amalfi coast and Sorrento Secure and easy parking

Review 82:very!!! thin walls. you can hear everything from the other rooms and they can hear you. you must have a car because there is nothing to do in the close area

Review 83:nice resteront very clean, big rooms

Review 84:Very good hotel and wonderful family.

Review 85:I could not fault this beautiful place

Review 86:The very friendly owners and all their staff, the food was excellent, pasta and pizza could not taste any better, very highly recommended, we shall most certainly return

Review 87:The GPS is not accurate. Mid town turn right pass two petrol stations, down the road 1 Km on the left side a church next a sign board "Pic Nic"" that's it.

Review 88:Nice and comfortable rooms/ Modern and new design. The old and very friendly land lady is welcoming you and showing you the premises, making you feel at home. There is a nice romantic restaurant on site for dinners, the land lady does the shopping, and she is an excellent cook too, all the food is home made including the grandfather making pizza and bread while the rest of the family are helping too.

Review 89:nothing that was not great

Review 90:De Maria house is a great place to stay! The staff is very friendly and helpful, the house is well managed and very clean - not to forget the restaurant - a real tip :-)

Review 91:We had some difficulty finding DeMaria house because the sign for therestaurant "PicNic" was more prominent than the B&B sign. Also, though generous in amounts, the breakfast was the worst we had inItaly of the 6 B&B's that we stayed in during our trip. Most ofthe choices were left over cakes from previous nights' dessertsserved in the restaurant. Too many sweets even for Italy. Although theinside of the building has obviously been updated, the outside is a bitshabby. There is nothing much in the immediate area of DeMaria House.

Review 92:We really enjoyed staying at this family run B&B. Our room wascomfortable and spotless, with a great shower in the bathroom. Anotherbig plus was the ample free parking which is often hard to find inItaly. The staff was friendly and ready to help at any time. Thelocation of DeMaria House was convenient to the Sorrento peninsula, theAmalfi Coast and Pompeii and Herculaneum. There are some very nicevillages within short driving distance of the B&B and also a nicebeach nearby. We ate most of our evening meals in the PicNic Restaurantattached to the B&B which were very tasty and good value. A verynice touch was that on our last day, our hostess gave us a bottle of hervery delicious homemade limoncello as a memento of our stay.

Review 93:A bit hard to find. Look for the sign "Picnic" in large letters. "De Maria House B & B" is in much smaller letters below it.

Review 94:This place was a bit hard to find, but it was an excellent alternative to the over-busy Sorrento area. We did some hiking here on some very scenic trails, and it was an excellent hub for driving the Amalfi coast--a veritable full-day roller coaster ride in our tiny Fiat Panda rental car.

Review 95:Leaving

Review 96:You will not see any barbarian tourists here, instead you'll find a memorable experience. The rooms are very clean and the view to the valley is great. The family is fun and extremely helpful, making the stay more personable. We stayed 4 nights and had dinners in the B&B restaurant Pic-Nic. Even better, the food is traditional to the region and location. We arrived by public transportation and relied on this method during our day trips. The bus stops right out front of the B&B, with a Tabbachi next door for tickets. The stop is PASTENA (from Sorrento catch the bus to S. Agata Via Massa Lubrense).

Review 97:Not much to do in agatha .

Review 98:The best pizza ever eaten, made by il nono. Breakfast: a breakfast you can normaly only dream of in Italy. Eggs, cheese, ham , fresh fruit....... And all kinds of pies made by nona :-) Lots of information about the region.

Review 99:- Hard to find even with GPS - Basic breakfast

Review 100:- Very clean - New furniture and facilities - Friendly and responsible staff - Convenient for a day trip to Capri - Restaurant on site - Free parking

Review 101:The most wonderful B&B experience in my life, if you are looking forreal italian immersion experience look no further, if you're fed upwith impersonal hotels just go to De Maria House! Seniora Teresa makesthe best fish and calamari I've ever eaten!, All the food they serveis fresh and comes from local market from local producers, De MariaHouse is located just about 20 min drive from Sorrento.

Review 102:Everything was perfect!!!! I was in my honeymoon and staying at De Mariawas the perfect choice. The staff (Augusta, nonna, nonno and everyonefrom this kind italian family) so helpful, the bedroom always clean, well decorated, and the food...no words to describe!! Perfect! Thankyou!!! Luciana and Daniel (Brazil)

Review 103:A family owned hotel which is located in a beautiful country side area. We spent 4 days during mid-March. The staff headed by the Mother Ms. Teresa is there to help and assist with any need we had. The rooms are renovated, well equipped and very (very) clean. Breakfast is good and rich with wide selection of tasty cakes. We ate dinners at the hotel made by the staff. Dinners were excellent in a reasonable price. The hotel has a private parking lot (which was important for us). The fact we chose this hotel contributed to the success of the entire vacation. Excellent value for money. We highly recommend staying at the De Maria House and we will back for sure.

Review 104:We were at this hotel for three days and we liked it very much. At breakfast we always had very delicious and warm cakes and there was a great variety to choose from and almost all of them were homemade. That was very impressive. The atmosphere at this hotel was very good and we want to come back!

Review 105:It is rather high up in the mountains and took about 15 minutes to drivedown the hill each day. Difficult to find with gps. Look for a tall signadvertising Pic Nic Restaurant and you are there and just a few metresfrom the church.

Review 106:Very clean, modern, wifi that actually works well, great food, friendly, wonderful breakfast, great value! Loved our 4 day stay andate dinner there every night. Very helpful owner and family. Thanks fora great stay!

Review 107:Nothing at all!

Review 108:Teresa made us feel like family, and prepared osso bucco for us specially on request. Breakfast always had something special on the table. We had two en suite rooms that were spacious, clean and comfortable. The location is fantastic at the top of the massa lubrense and easy to drive to sorrento, Amalfi. We spent five days at de Maria, and loved every day there.

Review 109:Everything, this is a little gold mine in the middle of nowhere.

Review 110:All of the staff were wonderful, couldn't do enough to help us

Review 111:No dislikes.

Review 112:Wonderful food, excellent service, very friendly family. Spotlessly clean.

Review 113:very good breakfast, nice view from the room, quiet.

Review 114:excellent breakfast Friendly family Good home cooked evening meal Delicious cakes and desserts

Review 115:The acoustics of the room was poor. We could hear everything that happened behind the wall.

Review 116:The owners were friendly and helpfull.
