Reviews for Hotel Sierra Resort Hakuba

Review 1:Excellent hospitality and hotel facilities especially the Onsen. The small touches such as snacks availiable thru the day, some drinks in the evening and good staff attitudes were big pluses. The staff were always very helpful and wanted to ensure you enjoyed your stay.

Review 2:Only negative is the bus rides to any ski resort or dinner. The inhouse restaurants were OK but nothing to talk about.

Review 3:Absolutely amazing hotel. One of the only hotel's I have felt like a really valued guest. The staff are welcoming, the wine and curry after skiing/boarding is so lovely. The grounds spectacular and facilities like the onsen and ski locker were fabulous. Stay here you will not regret it especially even with children

Review 4:I really enjoyed the location. It was beautiful looking out the large glass windows at the snow and fairy lights. The Japanese restaurant was amazing. The sushimi was the best we had in Japan. Big call, I know. It's reasonably priced as well. Between 30-40 for a large main meal. The staff are also very helpful. It was very romantic. My partner actually proposed outside the hotel out the front of the chapel :)

Review 5:Nomihodai is the devil, can't remember the last time I got so drunk... At least avoid it if you plan on skiing the next day!

Review 6:The staff at Sierra provided exceptional service, and spoke excellent english. They were very accommodating in supporting our itinerary with shuttle buses and generally helping us make the most out of the ski trip. I am also a tattooed person and was worried that the onsen might be off limits as with many other public baths but the Sierra staff indicated that it was accepted at their facility which was a great relief. I'd go back in a heartbeat and confidently recommend Sierra to anyone!

Review 7:If Iwatake was open (only 5 minutes away), this would have been 100% perfect for us! However, it was closed due to low snowfall. Getting to Happo-One required catching two buses that was tiresome with two young children. Having said that, we would definitely choose to stay at Sierra again!

Review 8:We have skiied in Hakuba the last three years and stayed at three different hotels. This was by far our favorite! We loved everything about this hotel - from the staff to the facilities, the lobby (stocked with complimentary drinks, food and popcorn for the kids!) and the onsen! We loved this hotel!

Review 9:The decor of the room is a little outdated

Review 10:The two last common lounge rooms with full length windows looking out to the beautiful bushland! We also love the coffee and various tea options, nice comfortable chairs with lots of visions! It's a great place to relex!

Review 11:A lot of hang out public areas with free drinks where we could relax, read or just snooze off on the reclining chairs. Both Japanese and western restaurants are good value for money.

Review 12:The hospitality of the general manager and staff was overwhelming. We were a big group and they were very accommodating to our requests. Beautiful layout. Tea/ coffee/ popcorn/rice stations throughout the day. Beautiful onsens. Convenient ski rental and storage at resort.

Review 13:We did not use the onsen bath but was charged in our room fees.

Review 14:The lounge area is very good to relax after dinner and also good meeting point with friends staying in separate rooms.

Review 15:We didn't like when the 3rd days of our stayed, the bus couldn't dropped us at the destination we wanted. (it's not like the first and second days)They changed the schedule. They only dropped us in the certain spot which is not practical at all that we should find another transportation.

Review 16:We love nature so the secluded resort was a delight. The entire staff was incredible, polite, helpful and friendly. The onsen was super, actually everything was! We are definitely coming back.

Review 17:Should be more washing machines; provide usb charging power points

Review 18:Hotel grounds, breakfast, staff helpfulness, shuttle bus, onsen, on site ski rental shop

Review 19:Massage wasn't very good but not really apart of hotel

Review 20:Everything was amazing about this hotel. From the free shuttle bus to the complimentary free wine. Staff were so helpful with organising skiing and booking restaurants would of been hopeless without them. Breakfast was really good with lots of varieties. Onsens were really nice and was definitely worth booking a private one. Rooms are also very spacious. Definitely value for money. Would recommend and definitely going back

Review 21:I do not have a bad experience.

Review 22:I love the customer service provided by the front desk staff, the interpreter was very fluent in English. I also love the hot spring/onsen and the delicious food served during our stay. The cost of the hotel is just right and reasonable.

Review 23:Friendliness of staff - we felt like part of the family. The services provided - pick up & drop off to station, Advice re restaurants in town with drop off & pick up, the lovely areas to sit in & look at view. Also really enjoyed the French food at hotel restaurant

Review 24:needs a proper drying room for wet ski gear other than boots, skis - such as gloves, etc. log fire in room pointless - a waste of space, hot tub on bedroom balcony never connected up - plumbing not finished. no drawer space for clothes whatsoever, decor style is dated though almost all fittings are new.

Review 25:we liked the staff a lot - very polite and helpful and eternally patient, the beds, the buffet breakfasts, the snacks, the onsen (!), free glasses of wine while chilling in the lounge, decent size bedrooms (Junior suites have 2 proper rooms - very comfortable for 4), Japanese toilets (all those buttons!), the lawn, the views, the restaurant, the restaurant recommendations, support for skiers (cheaper to get passes at the hotel than at the ski areas), etc, etc. It even has a dog hotel (i.e. kennel).

Review 26:Leaving!

Review 27:Thoughtful little touches were found all throughout the hotel, from the Japanese snacks outside to the complimentary popcorn and drinks. The shuttle bus was always available to take us wherever we needed to go, or be picked up from. The staff were fantastic and helpful, with a special thank you to Fumie and Selina for whom nothing was ever too difficult. Lastly, the private onsen is a must try!

Review 28:I am amazed of this hotel. The team is doing a great job. Personalized service and sincere team! And the food was great in all restaurants in the hotel.

Review 29:Hotel decor is a bit dated.

Review 30:The staff at the resort are the stars of the show. They are helpful and knowledgeable. Plus hotel is very thoughtful. From free snacks at the end of ski day to coffee milk at onsen!

Review 31:A little out of the way if you want to get to the slopes for first runs you need a taxi which isn't cheap

Review 32:Junior suite was generous. The onsen is spectacular. Polite staff and included breakfast. Good wifi

Review 33:The staff are really accommodating and will transport you where you need to go. Fantastic service, complimentary drinks and food provided all day. Great place for kids to sled upon return from the ski slopes.

Review 34:The Resort is set in a beautiful forest which was snow covered. The rooms are very comfortable, staff speak fluent English and very attentive. There is a Resort shuttle to take you around as well as public transport. Food was excellent and very well priced. Excellent areas for children to play in the snow. We will be returning next year - highly recommended and from what we saw, the best accommodation in Hakuba by far.

Review 35:The wifi was attrocious. Very seldom did i get a connection, even though the signal strength was indicated as strong. when i did connect, speed was slow to nonexistent. Poor for a top hotel and had a lasting impression on my stay. Please fix this Sierra!

Review 36:The onsen was fantastic, friendly staff, very generous food/.drinks post skiing. A breathtaking location as well.

Review 37:The wifi was a bit patchy at times.

Review 38:We had a large, spacious room and even with an extra bed put in for our daughter there was plenty of room. The staff were extremely obliging. We were able to hire ski equipment via the staff which was brought to the hotel and replaced again if they did not quite fit. There were complimentary coffee and teas, juices and even miso soup and green thai curry to eat upon returning from skiing (light meal only). The breakfast buffet was the best we had during our stay in Japan (and of course being westerners we went for the cereal and fruit!) All in all there was nothing to fault. We enjoyed our time at Sierra Resort and would highly recommend it.

Review 39:Wifi isn't great but not a big deal

Review 40:The onsen is amazing, staff friendly and helpful, transport to town and back again in the evenings, spacious rooms with great views, free hot food, free drinks, breakfast was pretty good

Review 41:Absolutely nothing.

Review 42:Our 6 day stay here over Christmas was nothing short of magical. The staff at Sierra Resort were so very helpful and friendly. Shuttle bus was always at hand to take us to places. We were in the west wing and although a little dated, it was extremely comfortable and the view to the snow filled grounds and trees lit with fairy lights was nothing short of a fairytale. The complimentary food (curry, rice, miso soup, popcorn, juice) was very welcoming after a day in the snow. Breakfast and dining at night was A+ for variety and quality. 2 private onsens and the larger onsen are not to be missed (even if you are a little shy). We would totally recommend this hotel to anyone as one of the best in Japan.

Review 43:Generous facilities and hot food and cold drinks in the lobby, lounge, and onsen restroom Great staff v helpful and genunine desire to assist and help with itinerary, bookings, transport, and meal options

Review 44:Perhaps a coffee shop serving snacks and variety of hot drinks would be nice There is a self help coffee dispenser that is always available Soup and curry was also available at the entrance foyer at no charge

Review 45:Wonderful staff , friendly helpful Stunning mountain scenery from the gardens and foyer A splendid family hotel in a forest setting.

Review 46:We had a 100% positive stay and experience here. The staff were friendly and always happy to help. The bus service to and from the snow slopes, station and local restaurants was very convenient. The building and rooms are amazingly designed. The beautiful glass floor to ceiling windows over look the pretty hotel grounds. These are in the lobby, restaurant and sitting rooms. Absolutely stunning during snow season. The hotel room was spacious and clean. Perfect for those travelling with lots of ski/snowboarding gear. The heated floors in the room helped keep your feet warm and also your snow boots. The restaurant service and food was outstanding. The Private Japanese Onsen was so relaxing and we'd highly recommend trying it. We would not hesitate to recommend Seirra Resort to anyone or to stay there again when we are in Hakuba. Thank you Seirra Resort.

Review 47:Great resort - good setup for families

Review 48:Not so convenient if we need to go into town.

Review 49:The warm soups and drinks waiting for us after a day of skiing.

Review 50:Location,staff , food, hotsprings

Review 51:- friendly staff - considerate of all details around us

Review 52:Nothing to not like!

Review 53:Staff, location, staff, shuttle services, staff, breakfast, staff :)

Review 54:Service was top notch. The free shuttle was very helpful to get to the ski resorts.

Review 55:The staff were helpful. Facilities are awesome especially the onsen. I am going back again in Jan 2016.

Review 56:Very helpful and nice staff. The place was very comfy. The complementary food and drinks were nice.

Review 57:everything!

Review 58:They didn't have espresso coffee. The rooms could use a refurb.

Review 59:The hospitality of staff and the breakfast were excellent.

Review 60:Beds and pillows very hard.

Review 61:Staff very accommodating, beautiful scenery, great facilities. Would definitely stay again.

Review 62:Specious and well designed common areas.

Review 63:Great place and helpful staff

Review 64:Great place and staff

Review 65:Slow wifi.

Review 66:Loved the private and public onsen and helpfulness of the staff who went out of their way for you at every opportunity.

Review 67:The staff are very warm and one of the best hospitality ever got in Japan.

Review 68:A bit dated. Needs a facelift.

Review 69:Friendliness, free drinks and food and the onsen was excellent!!

Review 70:Helpful staff and shuttle bus. Great breakfast. Large rooms.

Review 71:that i had to leave

Review 72:loved the resort loved the staff nothing was a problem for them beautiful facilities and services

Review 73:what a wonderful experience, a gem set amongst lovely surroundings, staff were excellent and so helpful, the whole place is geared to make the guest feel at home, as if your happiness is their priority,,,,,,we will stay again at the earliest opportunity !!!

Review 74:The a la carte menu at the hotel restaurant didn't offer much, the set course was much better.

Review 75:At first I was a bit concerned about staying here as I emailed the address given to me by booking.com ahead of our trip to check a few things and never received a reply. However, once we arrived all my concerns disappeared. The hotel was comfortable and the staff were extremely helpful and super friendly, helping us with ski hire and restaurant choices. Although you aren't right on the mountains, the shuttle bus service is great and the hotel shuttle bus will drop you off and pick you up from any restaurant in town. We also had the set course meal at the hotel restaurant one night and it was delicious. We had a great stay at Sierra Resort and will definitely stay there again.

Review 76:Beds were too firm.

Review 77:Excellent customer service!!!! The resort was really nice, clean and the free shuttle to the go out in town or the ski areas were great. Free buffet breakfast was great. The double room was really spacious. My 2 kids, ages 3 & 7 had enough room to run around and we did not feel cramped at all. I will recommend and will stay at this hotel again.

Review 78:It is trivial, but the Japanese standard seems to be placing a single pillow per bed... Fortunately all I had to do was ask and an additional pillow was provided. There wasn't much to dislike about this hotel.

Review 79:Every one of the hotel staff I engaged were exceptionally helpful and polite. I also appreciated the fact there was always at least one person available with ability to communicate in English.

Review 80:The hotel itself could do with a bit of an update, but it was good enough. The resturant food was not very nice to be honest, especially the lunch there wasn't good at all. Its also very expensive, we went into the local town and had dinner most nights and the food and prices were excellent

Review 81:This is a very nice place to stay, the staff really make it a great experience.

Review 82:Nothing

Review 83:The staff were exceptional and went out of there way to help with everything. Breakfast was fantastic with a good selection. The door to door ski bus shuttle suited us perfectly and Sierra was really close to Tsugaike and Iwatake which were great ski fields. The on site Onsen was a real bonus. The various lounges gave you a sense of space and had complimentary tea and coffee. Reception booked our restaurants for dinner and the resorts shuttle did the drop off and pick up. One of the best places we have stayed and we will definitely be back!!

Review 84:Information wrong on website about hot tub information - don't operate outside during winter and double rooms don't have them outside Bed didn't get made with the environmental option

Review 85:Hot snacks provided after skiing Free transport to town Staff excellent Nice breakfast

Review 86:We were overcharged at check out - booked via booking.com for 40,000 yen per night and yet we were charged 64,000 yen for the second night with no plausible explanation and we were unable to resolve due to language barrier Charged full adult price for 2 year old child (despite providing own travel cot) Not young child friendly at all due to the tranquillity of setting. We felt very pressured to keep our toddler quiet and restrained so we didn't upset other, mostly older Japanese, guests - rather stressful! A lot of tour groups used this hotel whilst we were there so the restaurant was very busy and the set dinner menu was of poor to average quality External gardens, onsen and facilities are beautiful but the rooms are extremely dated and in need of repair / renovation - not good value for the rate charged Our non-smoking room smelt strongly of cigarette smoke when aircon in use

Review 87:Stunning setting with beautiful gardens and lush green manicured lawns Peaceful and quiet location surrounded by forest Wonderful view of snow capped mountains Lovely pool area

Review 88:Well we booked this hotel mainly because we wanted to utilize the patiohot tub and when we arrived we were told pipes were frozen so we couldnot use it. Pretty bummed out but at least they refunded us for half thecost of the room because of that. Other than that it was a nice cozyroom, used the fire place and relaxed. Would come again but will callahead of time to make sure we can relax in the outdoor tub :)

Review 89:The walk to the onsen (hot spring) from my room is a bit long for thetired legs!

Review 90:It is away from other hotels/resorts in the middle of woods. Veryrefreshing. Nice design and very helpful staff. The hot snack andbeverages are like god-sent when you come back after all the hard workon the slope!!

Review 91:Extremely friendly and hospitable. Polite and professional. Helpful and respectful in all matters. Great set up, location, and services. Relaxing atmosphere, peaceful, with a beautiful backdrop. Not a fault to report just praise for Sierra Resort. They/it made our holiday in Hakuba.

Review 92:A bit far from anything but the website was clear about this sowas expected

Review 93:Staff were great, happy to help with any requests, Place was clean, rooms were a good size for the price

Review 95:The fact that we had to leave

Review 96:Service was impeccable. Location gorgeous The onsen was amazing And again the customer service was the greatest

Review 97:every thing was superb

Review 98:No bar Food options Remote

Review 99:Onsen Room size

Review 100:Wi Fi does not reach all corners of the hotel, improvment is needed

Review 101:great place and excellent service

Review 102:The services is very good and staff is very nice. The onsen is really nice too.

Review 103:quite a big hotel

Review 104:English speaking staff excellent onsen nice room and good temperature control. good food and good choice of menu

Review 105:Location Dated Rooms

Review 106:Onsen Shuttle service Staff

Review 107:About 10/15 minutes to get to the skiing spots. Not many food options

Review 108:Beautiful place to stay. Very spacious and relaxing with a spa bath

Review 109:The staff were fantastic and very hospitable.

Review 110:staff very friendly and very helpful and efficient. onsen baths were fantastic! shuttle bus service at your beck and call.
