Reviews for The Crays Accommodation

Review 1:Crays is a short walk to the main village of Strahan and its' waters edge. The villa's are very roomy with all the comforts of home. The walls also don original art work and photography that depict the region.

Review 2:Expensive compared with other coastal town's accommodation in Tasmania. Possibly everything in Strahan is more expensive. WiFi nonexistent in unit - just would not connect. Only mobile reception in Strahan with Telstra

Review 3:Great to be a short easy walk into the town centre. Large unit which easily accommodated our family of 5. No bay views but pleasant outlook onto trees. Good facilities in kitchen.

Review 4:Bed was quite hard and it was a shame the beautiful view was blocked by trees.

Review 5:Spacious , well equiped facilities and a lovely short walk to main street.

Review 6:The bed was rather hard. It didn't worry my hubby but I woke up sore.

Review 7:The accomodation was large for just the two of us. It was very quiet in a good location.

Review 8:Wifi not yet available in all units.

Review 9:The Crays was located opposite a restaurant and small harbour and there was also a lovely park nearby. There were plenty of utensils and cutlery in the unit. A nice little touch was the magazines and knitting bag. So glad for the heater in November as it was freezing. Plenty of tea and coffee provided. Staff were quite helpful.

Review 10:Decor very dated and towels paper thin (you could actually see through them)

Review 11:Spacious room within walking distance of town centre. Good restaurant 1 minute walk away. Very friendly and helpful staff

Review 12:Friendly helpful staff, clean, relaxed, great location, fantastic recommendation for dinner. Had everything we needed, & use of the washing machine & clothes line was very handy.

Review 13:Interiors a little dated compared to other accommodation stayed at on this trip. But minor issue.

Review 14:Great location. Friendly staff. Very large apartment. Lots of space.

Review 15:not just here lots of places have small fridges, half size sawn off types, leads to unecessary bending, raise them up or replace with taller ones

Review 16:peace and quiet ,very comfortable beds ,spacious rooms, central location.

Review 17:Room located near main road a tiny wheeny noisy in late afternoon but after 9pm through to 830am... silence...very silent.

Review 18:Location an easy walk to town centre and other sights and resturants.

Review 19:Disappointed in the number of Strahan establishments that weren't open (no reflection on the Crays) and/or didn't advertise opening hours.

Review 20:Facilities were very basic and it was further away from main street and with no view which we weren't really clear about when booking,

Review 21:Communication prior to arrival was very thorough.

Review 22:No Wi Fi at King suite

Review 23:All the facilities relate to the comforts of home Very roomy unit Nicely decorated Recommended accommodation Free Washing machine

Review 24:The only thing I could say about this lovely cabin is that the bed was very hard.

Review 25:The rooms had everything you need except a washing machine but there is a laundry on site. The staff were lovely and waited for us to arrive before closing the shopfront. Lovely ladies. Great stay.

Review 26:Our self contained accommodation was very clean and comfortable. Very nice location surrounded by trees. The unit had an outside deck. The kitchen was well stocked with respsct to utensils, etc. Easy check in and check out. Strahan is a beautiful location.

Review 27:Carport was a bit tight but OK for a small car.

Review 28:Just like a home away from home. The unit had all you could ask for, even capacity for recycling of vegetable scraps. Comfortable bed with nice linen. Appreciated being able to catch up on some washing. Lots of space by separating the bedroom area from the lounge area with a curtain.

Review 29:Reception is not on site. WiFi is not available in the unit, it was recommended that I try to connect in the communal laundry because, 'that's where the modem is'.

Review 30:The Crays is clean and comfortable. Undercover parking is terrific when packing and unpacking in the very wet weather we experienced at Strahan.

Review 31:Lacking an oven so only basic meals could be prepared. However, there was a microwave and an excellent bbq area

Review 32:The cottage was clean, well presented and very comfortable.. However, there was a microwave and an excellent bbq area. Set in a very pleasant garden the cottages are ideal for a short break in this picturesque and interesting region. The CRAYS at The Esplanade are within an easy, flat walk of the railway station, harbour, village centre and the small range of eateries. Also very close to the start of the Hogarth Falls walk. A word of caution, now that the vegetation has matured there are very limited water views, and then only from one or two cottages. This did not spoil our time at the cottage. Would recommend.

Review 33:Very well equipped, roomy, comfortable, felt like home, like we could have settled in there for a while :) Deck was lovely, would have been nice to sit out there if the weather was better.

Review 34:Time constraints meant we could not stay longer. Will come back.

Review 35:Lovely roomy apartment with view of the harbour. Close to the cruise wharf, shopping strip and restaurants.

Review 36:Everything about the Crays was great. Friendly staff. Thanks to Wendy for giving us a heads up of where to dine we had a lovely meal with amazing views. Shame we only stayed one night. Strahan is lovely and well worth staying a few days. Our cabin was spacious, immaculate and very quiet. Would definitely return and highly recommend.

Review 37:Spacious, well equipped and clean. Gardens were pleasant. Staff were efficient and gave good information. Wendy not only informed us of a mobile that was left behind ... she sent it to us. Exemplary service.

Review 38:Nothing - perhaps providing shampoo and conditioner would tick all the boxes.

Review 39:Excellent location. The decor is a bit dated but the cabin was well appointed with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The bed was especially comfortable. It was quite cold and raining in the evening on the two nights we were in Strahan but the heating in the cabin made it lovely and cosy.

Review 40:Two portable hot plates and no oven, but there was an electric frypan.

Review 41:The Crays is well located along the road around the harbour. You do not get harbour views, but you do get the views of a glorious garden a short walk out of the main shopping strip. The accommodation is demountable homes so the fixtures and fittings are relatively basic, but spacious and SPOTLESSLY clean (cleanest place I've ever stayed). Megs and her husband were thoughtful and asked about the comfort of the beds (they've had comments previously about them being too firm). We like our beds firm so it wasn't an issue for us. We spent 5 nights here (booked two units and my elderly parents stayed in another unit, which they were really, really happy with) and used it as a base for travelling around the southwest. Would thoroughly recommend the Crays.

Review 42:Nothing

Review 43:Comfortable, clean, relaxed - lovely landscaping provided privacy , undercover parking at the door made things easy. Close proximity to where wanted to go, walk into town

Review 44:Light in lounge area did not work, and perhaps a light over sink area would give more light for doing dishes in.

Review 45:In all, just about everything except for the 2 items listed as what I didn't like. Would certainly recommend it to others.

Review 46:Nothing critical to add

Review 47:From the minute we arrived, we received a very friendly greeting with lots of useful advice for the area. The accommodation was spacious, clean and comfortable and as a group of 7 in two lodges we could have sent the week there very happily. We would thoroughly recommend and happily return.

Review 48:Limited heating facilities for use during cold weather

Review 49:Location, unit facilities and comforts (except heating), proximity to local walks and places to eat. On site laundry.

Review 50:Just the shower curtain!!

Review 51:The Crays is within a short walk to town, cruise boats etc. very comfortable unit, very spacious with good heating. Would recommend to others.

Review 52:If there's anything I didn't like it was the heater. Couldn't turn it down low enough. Haha

Review 53:The unit was comfortable and the setting was terrific. Wonderful location

Review 54:The location of Crays on the esplanade of Strahan is excellent. The facilities are first class and include a fully equipped kitchen, lounge, comfortable bed and nice verandah. Wendy, the hostess and owner is extremely friendly and helpful (but is located in a separate office in the centre of town about 800 metres distant). The only downside is there is no person on site at the 6 unit complex and you need to find the location of the accommodation and to enter and operate the heater and facilities without guidance.
