Reviews for Tudor Manor Bed & Breakfast
Review 1:We have stayed in many B&Bs in NZ and over seas and never encountered one before this where we felt like we were encroaching on the family. Hearing people moving and talking above and around us and at times young people yelling isn't really conducive to a restful time away from home. As we could hear others, we were wondering how private our stay was.
Review 2:The room was beautifully appointed and very comfortable. Lots of little homely touches added to the experience. The breakfast selection was perfectly adequate and tasty, all be it unusually 'presented' for a B&B.
Review 3:The location was quiet yet near the beach and facilities. The outside space and pool were good to have for a longer stay. The host family were so welcoming it made our Christmas week really special.
Review 4:A little short on utensils for 3 and the roll away bed lacked a duvet cover but generally very happy with our stay.
Review 5:I like the view of incoming aircraft and very friendly owners.
Review 6:Absolutely nothing- we were home from home- joyful sounds an laughter from the families children but what's not to be expected in a growing family home :) wonderful.
Review 7:The single most AMAZING place I've ever stayed, correction the pleasure to stay. This family home opened to your heart- wonderful memories made lazing by their pool - jacuzzi use on tap- clean crisp fresh smelling bed sheets/towels- every type of friendly you could wish for. A family home opened in all its magnificence to your every use. Lazy days- fresh lavender bushes creating a sweeping smell of beauty throughout your senses. A sensual and relaxing break. We loved it so much we booked again an again throughout our stay we couldn't bring ourselves to leave, the Parisian chic themed room we had was perfect after our weary working days.. Recommend again an again.. PERFECT!! & Lisa and Vince kindly sorted out every need.. Robes were a lovely touch an so was a drink I requested by the pool with nibbles :) Thank you
Review 8:This was not a real problem at all, but the room goes out to the garden and sometimes people (other guests) would walk past our window and look in our room. Also, the rooms are attached to the main house, so you might hear some noise from other people - however, for us that did not matter at all and we didn't feel disturbed in any way.
Review 9:We stayed in the Bordeaux room, which is really nicely decorated and comfortable. There were fluffy bathrobes waiting for us, a huge DVD selection, candy, and a great selections of teas for breakfast. The staff was really nice and took care of everything - the offered us to watch the early morning rugby game in their own lounge, one morning we found fresh brownies in front of our room - it was lovely. We also made use of the spa pool (very relaxing) and even saw a shooting star that night. Wifi was working great. It only takes a few minutes to get to the local shops, restaurants (I recommend Kilim Cafe - yummy Turkish food) and to the beach. (The ferry to Kapiti Island leaves from there as well.) It is also easy to get there by public transport: there is a bus stop down the road (1 minute walk maybe) which takes you to Paraparaumu train station in no time, from where you can catch the train to Wellington. Overall, we had a great stay and I can recommend this place!
Review 10:No complaints. Great place.
Review 11:Nice B&B style loding in their home-attachment. Loved all the toys and DVDs provided. We were in African-themed suite.
Review 12:The shower only seemed to have only two setting off and full on which was too hard.
Review 13:Nicely appointed room with good facalities. The owners were friendly and helpful and provided a nice breakfast.
Review 14:Very cramped room. There was too much on the there, all good but really hard to negotiate especially with a baby and buggy.
Review 15:Most incredible choice of breakfast items! Beautiful house and grounds
Review 16:Being able to hear other people in the house, but I suppose this is all part of being in a B&B!
Review 17:Stunning room. Lovely and spacious. Disappointed we weren't there for longer to relax and enjoy all the luxuries. The room had everything we needed and more. We would definitely return.
Review 18:Breakfast in room badly organised - everything in a walk in cupboard. No dishes for cereal and no butter for toast! Welcome was hurried and it seemed as if we were just a necessary inconvenience!
Review 19:Close to beach.
Review 20:Good DVD's for entertainment. In room food was good quality although serving area somewhat suboptimal. Bathroom and shower in good order. Big four poster bed was a nice surprise. A good walk to the beach.
Review 21:The room was a little small and the garden furniture was for decoration only. Had hoped to have breakfast in nice company, but you get your breakfast in your room.
Review 22:Very nice family, very nice house with pool and whirlpool. Room very nicely decorated, snacks and a lot of DVDs. Free wifi
Review 23:Bed was a bit squeaky, and a bit of noise upstairs.
Review 24:room interior deco, large option of tea/coffee/breakfast. Privacy was given, nice Spa and pool, close to beach, a very pleasant stay.
Review 25:nothing really. My only (very minor) suggestion would be to have instructions for the tv/dvd player and some soap available
Review 26:quiet - roomy - comfortable
Review 27:Nothing!
Review 28:We stayed in the regency room - so comfortable! Lots of little treats to find in the room (check the drawers in the dresser for some choccies :D) A little kitchenette in a very large cupboard that was extremely well stocked with bread, English muffins, jams and spreads, juices, an abundance of different teas, coffees and hot chocolate. Also a wide range of savoury snacks ready to eat, or to heat up in the microwave. The only thing I would say - the crockery had a metallic edge - not good for the microwave! Regardless, we improvised and were able to make food in the microwave with what we had. The family were all very friendly, polite, helpful, accommodating and professional. Great location to the shops and waterfront.
Review 29:We were blown away with the choices for breakfast and drinks available. An attractive and comfortable space, we were sorry we didn't have time to watch any of the interesting DVD's available.
Review 30:We stayed here for our wedding night in the french room and it was lovely, so many beautiful special little touches that really made it a lovely night to remember and lovely friendly staff :-)
Review 31:The White room downstairs can be noisy. It's close to a washing machine and you can hear the family bumping about sometimes. We'll try the upstairs room next time. It's not a big deal though to be fair and that's the only criticism.
Review 32:This B&B is in a lovely beach area close to Wellington city so makes for an easy get away. We love that the owners give you complete privacy. They will chat if you want to and if they sense you don't want to, they disappear (though you can always call or ring the bell). The room is better equipped with breakfast goodies than any top hotel. Breads, jams, preserves, a myriad of teas and cold milk, even pancakes and a lovely dish of fruit and choccies. Sopranos Italian restaurant is walking distance woth outstanding food and service.
Review 33:Shower was a bit small for the size of the bathroom.
Review 34:Very spacious room with great attention to detail in period style. Large bathroom. Great location being onky about 10 minute walk to Paraparaumu beach, shops and eateries. Chocolate treats left on desk in jar were a nice touch.
Review 35:Cramped kitchen with not enough empty shelve space to work on,ie make coffee or breakfast.
Review 36:Comfort and convenience, nice bed staff that were attentive and helpful. Very close to the beach and a nice little shopping centre.
Review 37:My unexpected arrival. T V did not work. No cooked breakfast. Constant noise over night sounded like branch tapping against wall close to bedroom.
Review 38:Friendly helpful hosts. Comfortable bed with nice linen. Spacious room and ensuite. Separate entry. Garden outlook.
Review 39:Could have done with another chair in the garden area.
Review 40:The bed was so comfortable. Excellent breakfast choices in the room. Fruit and chocolate were a nice treat. A few minutes walk from the beach and some good restaurants. Very private room at the back of the house.
Review 41:Value for money, lots of choice of hot and cold drinks! Beautiful garden and pool area, a lot of thought gone into the bedroom (we stayed in the Bordauex) friendly owner and a lovely night away! Thanks so much :)
Review 42:chair on small outside patio area (enclosed by lavender) was unstable (chair legs could only be placed partly on concrete slabs and pebbles) and my wife had a fall and hurt her back
Review 43:Lovely room and nice treats. Just what we needed after my wife's long flight with delays from Perth
Review 44:The owner was very welcoming and hospitable. The room was heated when we arrived and was nicely decorated. The kitchenette was well stocked with a wonderful array of the common staples one would want. The room had a huge collection of DVDs so one could just relax on the comfy bed and be set for the night. The spa was also amazing, even during the winter it was heated and provided a relexing ending to the day. Would stay there again and would highly recommend it.
Review 45:The small kitchen is nice, and there are many choices to drink, but not to eat. There were two yogurts in the fridge, but unfortunately were expired. All the jam jars and the marmite were open which I didn't like. when we asked the owner to bring some other choices, she was nice and brought us some good bread and some chees, and there were some chocolate and almond which were really good. As a whole, it was a good experience
Review 46:The room is really nice, it is even more beautiful than the picture (we stayed in the French style room). The bathroom is big, and the room is really calm and nice, with a nice small balcony.
Review 47:Bed and pillow was uncomfortable noise from the attached house was a little loud at times. (door slamming, conversations, pipes)
Review 48:we were left alone/undisturbed.
Review 49:I liked it all.
Review 50:The hosts were very welcoming. The furniture and decor was luxurious.A real treat to stay here.

Review 74:That you walked in and everything was already there didnt need to go to the supermarket coz there was amples of food there for us already.
Review 75:wifi was unreliable
Review 76:Spacious, well appointed suite Superb location High quality food & beverages
Review 77:Lack of awareness about the importance of preparing and serving gluten-free food
Review 78:French provincial theme for the room

Review 93:Nice location Friendly host Nice accomadation
Review 94:needed bigger mug for tea
Review 95:plenty of choice of teas & treats pretty china
Review 96:You need to realise this is an annexe of the hosts home. If you like homes with room extensions you will love it. Noise distraction for me was little discomforting and having to walk past residents bedroom a little off putting
Review 97:Bed great Breakfast first class room ok Shower ok room size just like an en-suite of a home It was OK for one.
Review 98:Consistent helpful and friendly service. Gave me all the information at time of booking, to make my decisions. I recommend this lovely venue. It is ideal for my overseas guests, to stay at during business events.
Review 99:The back gate wouldn't close properly. It was annoying but that was only a very small problem.
Review 100:We enjoyed a delightful, private room that was lavishly stocked with breakfast food and other treats. It was a great way to celebrate our 8th wedding anniversary.
Review 101:Such a great B&B with warm and friendly hosts and a great atmosphere. We loved our time here and only wish we had been able to stay longer. Thanks for a great stay!
Review 102:The bathroom could be improved by: Updating the toilet, installing a slide shower to better accommodate taller people and to be able to control the water pressure which was very high. The mirror needs to be bigger to cater for varying heights of clientele.
Review 103:Friendly service, exquisite bed linen and very comfortable bed, very well stocked pantry with an extensive range of breakfast items, vast range of DVD's provided in the room. Easy to find location.
Review 104:No problems
Review 105:Great décor and size of the room was great too. Enjoyed having DVD as a rainy wet afternoon. Good recommendation to eat at the Turkish restaurant in town.
Review 106:Being a sport nut would have liked Sky T.V. channels
Review 107:Relaxed atmosphere and room comfort. Hosts very friendly. Many little niceties like range of breakfast items and coffees etc.
Review 108:There was a bit of noise in the morning, banging around in the house and the staff came in to clean the room right on the dot of 10am and we had not quite packed up..would have been nice to have at least a half an hour's leeway before they started cleaning.
Review 109:The house was lovely and it was a spacious room with some nice touches like fluffy bathrobes...and the breakfast was good, lots of choice. We had good weather and sitting on the balcony in the morning drinking coffee was terrific. Easy walk to town and the beach.
Review 110:Cold showers, breakfast not really well presented, have to make it yourself. Suggestion a common dining room, for all the guests would be more professional. Also did not like to use same open jam jars used by previous guests as well (hygiene?).
Review 111:Quiet place, privacy, close to beach and shops.
Review 112:Parking was cramped. We scraped our car on leaving as the turning circle was so tight with other cars. Breakfast facility in the cupboard - really disliked this.
Review 113:We were a bit disappointed in Tudor Manor. The room was attractive but very small. The owners had way too many DVD's on the shelves - could have used the space for what we wanted space for. Looked like they just decided to rent the room out instead of living in themselves. Bathroom was good size but we had to prepare our 'breakfast' in the cupboard. There was so much stuff in the cupboard you had to prepare your breakfast on the table where you were to eat. Breakfast choice was okay but hardly exciting - cereal, bread for toast, fruit juice, but did have nice coffee for plunger. Lady owner very nice.
Review 114:It had cobwebs on ceiling in living room. The carpet felt dirty and the baseboards were very dirty like the place is not thoroughly cleaned after each guest. Felt uncomfortable.
Review 115:It was spacious and comfortable.
Review 116:Disappointing DIY breakfast with poor quality ingredients (but overall stay still very good value)
Review 117:Room beautifully appointed; high quality furnishings; own external access leading on to lovely garden; lots of thoughtful extras (DVDs, board games, nibbles); friendly welcome & pool available; nice bathroom & hot shower
Review 118:Nothing, we loved everything!
Review 119:We loved the décor, privacy, all the special touches, it exceeded our expectations and we had a wonderful stay. We made a change to our booking at the last minutes and they were very accommodating. We will be back next year! Highly recommend
Review 120:It was a very private location and the suite was located at the back with a separate entrance, which was very convenient. I liked the personal touches and extras like free really unlimited wifi, lots of stuff for breakfast, toiletries, DVDs, games and books. The host was very friendly and helpful.
Review 121:When arriving at the property it was difficult finding the owner. Would of helped to have a buzzer on the front door.
Review 122:The pantry in the room The French décor The table outside the room The chocolates by the bed The huge selection of movies Basically everything in the French styled room
Review 123:Nothing, it was all great!
Review 124:Lisa is a lovely welcoming host. We stayed in the safari suite and it was amazing. Really comfortable and extremely well equipped, they have thought of absolutely everything you might need. Its tucked away from the town but close enough to walk. We didn't go in the pool but it looked lovely. Would definitely recommend this place.
Review 125:Location and privacy and Lisa and Vinnie excellent owners and very friendly. Food great. Great wifi - loved the Frenchness with the room. Handy to shops and transport. Great fish and chip shop at Paraparaumu Beach.
