Reviews for Sala Ayutthaya

Review 1:Wish there was a larger pool to cool off in.

Review 2:An amazing accommodation with great exterior and interiors, a really great breakfast, lunch, dinner and drink menu. A perfect place to relax and reset, we really enjoyed our stay here.

Review 3:Breakfast was just average. The outdoor furniture is unclean, so we didn't sit outside and enjoy the view that we paid extra for.

Review 4:Staffs are all excellent. Even when we were ill prepared with tipping money, when we arrived. Hopefully we made up for it in the end.

Review 5:Not enough parking space. Not enough staff at the restaurant in the evening so the service was behind. Breakfast was so and so, not quite worth the money you are paying.

Review 6:The room was very comfortable and the view of chaopraya river and the temple was stunning.

Review 7:I actually have mixed feelings about this hotel. With the overpriced accommodation I've paid, I think I should have got a better experience out of it. The river view is just alright. But there are no facilities and space for guests to share such as fitness center or space for lounging and reading. Probably due to the limited size of the hotel. Not to mention the parking lot which is available only for less than 10 from what I've seen. It'll be a bit struggle when you return to the hotel in the dinner time to find that non-guests also come in to have dinner and the hotel entrance will be crowded with cars.

Review 8:Some reviews say that the foods weren't that good. But we can say otherwise at least for the appetizers. We had appetizers and dessert as our dinner and they were unexpectedly great. Especially, the fried banana with ice cream. Breakfast might have limited choices. A few selections will be offered and they'll cook as you order from their menu. The Egg Benedict and crab omelet we ordered were delicious, though. The room is spacious and has a great natural light because of the big window and high ceiling.

Review 9:Due to the design of the hotel and the used building material, the airconditioning has to run day and night, otherwise the room heats up to 35 °C. Unfortunately, the AC is build in the ceiling, just over the bed, so a cold noisy airflow during whole night. Big noise from AC in sourrounding neighbour rooms. After complaining, the staff offered me another room, but situation was same. So, i slept on the Sofa, out of the airflow. At checking out, the staff gave me some discount, due to my complain. Very small swimming pool

Review 10:Friendly and helpful staff, good english speaking. Spacious room. Very interesting design of hotel and rooms. Beautiful morning and night view from the room across the river. Good breakfast.

Review 11:- limited parking - Note that this is a small hotel, we went on Sunday night so it was not too bad but weekend would be super crowded - our room got flooded because somehow the drain was blocked but we were upgraded to another room right away - lots of mosquitoes in the room but they gave us the repellent spray and tried to killed the mosquitoes for us

Review 12:- friendly and very helpful staffs - beautiful hotel

Review 13:The food & drinks are quite expensive, but you pay for a nice and quiet environment. Quality of the food (and drinks) are good, so worth a splash.

Review 14:The rooms as well as the complete design of the hotel is stunning. Super comfortable beds. Fantastic temple & river view from the restaurant area.

Review 15:Aside from the people at the front desk, no one else really speaks English. The restaurant staff is not trained well enough. I understand that they must be hiring local people and support that but their training is lacking. If you are going to charge 5 star prices at the restaurant, I expect 5 star service.

Review 16:Bed was amazing, the entire hotel smells great and everything is very clean. You can't beat the views from their restaurant

Review 17:Very inadequate car park space and no valet parking service means cars are constantly double-parked and owners have to be ready to move their cars at all times. Staff at reception were not polite when speaking English ("You move your car now"). Swimming pool is tiny. F&B service inadequate. Even as a guest staying at the hotel we could not get a place to eat/drink because tables were "reserved" by patrons not staying at the hotel. Instead of a restful and quiet weekend in an "intimate & indulgent" hotel setting, it was a harassed and stressful time in a relatively small and overcrowded/confined facility. For the prices charged, the quality was very disappointing.

Review 18:Location, view at breakfast.

Review 19:I booked the river view room thru booking.com but the staff at the hotel did not arranged my reservation appropriately. Actually they had prepared me non-river view room and told me that no river view room is available at the time. The reason why I had chosen this hotel was to enjoy the view from the room but my plan had been destroyed. Yes, actually Ms. Jaa, the front manager, tried to offer me better solution, thanks Ms. Jaa, it was really disappointing me that the general manager had never appeared before me to explain. I suggest everyone to confirm the reservation directly with the hotel once the booking has been done. During the breakfast, the restaurant staff spoiled coffee on my table and my phono got wet. Fortunately, my phone is Xperia, waterproof, but the staffs at the restaurant are basically not educated as professional. I will never use this hotel again.

Review 20:Location.

Review 21:Concept of very large windows to maximise views undermined by lack of privacy as other guests free to walk in area immediately outside. Reception staff not very friendly or welcoming. Restaurant staff inattentive. Asked to get lime but forgot. Asked if we wanted more coffee and then forgot to bring it!!!. Parking very restricted and had to wait for 20 minutes after checking out for another guest to wake, get dressed and move their car that was blocking ours. All cars parked two deep so other guests must suffer the same problem. The room is designed by an architect with more focus on creating something unusual than meeting the essential needs of guests. Sealed concrete flooring rather than tiles or carpet feels dirty under foot whether it is or not. Far too much space given up to the bathroom and nowhere in the room to work / use a laptop comfortably. Only one stool and no table or useful surface on which to place food taken in the room. No space to place luggage out of the way or to place it for convenient access so strewn over the floor and having to be stepped around or over. The cost of our standard room was exorbitant. Stayed the night before in a five star hotel with two room suite in Bangkok for less than paid here. Crazily over priced when compared to local competition. Pool is tiny and in a poor situation relative to other facilities

Review 22:Convenient location

Review 23:Breakfast ordered from the card, English breakfast with 3 beans (sic!). Personnel not quite sure if child can get her portion for free (although children stay for free). They need better manager and better attitude.

Review 24:Cleanness, quite near to attractions.

Review 25:The parking lot is super small. The hotel doesn't have a fitness center, only a small pool. I also would like to mention that the pool is made with marble; therefore, it has sharp edges and can be super slippery. The breakfast was just ok. Nothing to write home about. Signature cocktails are pretty steep at THB320++ per glass - even more pricey than some of the 5-star hotels in Bangkok.

Review 26:Great boutique hotel for those who love design and architecture. The location is great as it is located right across from the temple. The room is spacious and has a nice layout (more suitable for couples rather than family and friends). The bed is really comfortable and I love the circular bathtub. We booked the river view room with terrace and amazing view. Super friendly and helpful staff especially the security guard/parking attendant. WiFi reception is pretty good.

Review 27:Staff was definitely not as expected. It didn't look as if they were happy to have us. This staff should be trained to run a high-end resort like this. Security guard outside was a pleasant exception though.

Review 28:Beautiful design and stunning view from hotel on temple across the river.

Review 29:I was told breakfast was included, in the morning we were handed a menu which showed various options, with sides i.e bacon etc which were extra. When you are paying 'top dollar' for the accommodation, breakfast should be included whatever you want The signage outside the hotel needs to be improved, we drove right past the entrance because the hotel sign was covered up by a car parked outside the hotel The staff are not well trained, although we ordered appetisers, they brought the main course first, the main courses were sent back to the kitchen until the appetisers had been served, therefore the main courses were brought back to us, but my steak had been left under the grill to keep warm, then it was like a 'piece of leather', l complained and they did make a new steak, but we were just left waiting, when it arrived, it came without the 'french fries', therefore there was another wait, very sloppy service, l am sure we would have chosen to eat in the restaurant opposite the hotel, we would have got better service. For the waiting staff l would give the hotel 1/10, the manager tried to rectify the issue, but the damage was done by then. The two tables next to us were also having issues of overcharging and also having been given the wrong food, a night that the staff should forget

Review 30:The room was excellent overlooking the temple across the river

Review 31:the pool quite small and no space enough for parking during weekend

Review 32:The Hotel is beautiful with design , Great room , nice breakfast with the nice view near the river and very impressed , aroma massage very good

Review 33:Super friendly staff but poor understanding of English., All our orders came out wrong.

Review 34:The location and the view from the restaurant terrace are really nice. Intelligent architecture.

Review 35:None.

Review 36:The hotel is located at a super good location. Near to historical town of Ayutthaya. Facing super nice opposite Wat Phutthaisawan. The environment is super nice. Especially to the riverview rooms. Rooms decoration are calm and relax. Excellent for honeymoon couples. Food are super great. Serving with delicious cooking.

Review 37:The staff is very friendly but they don't seem to know how to do their job. This is especially evident in the restaurant. Waiting for more then 10 minutes to order or to get a beer is the norm. Finger food gets served without napkins etc etc.

Review 38:the staff is really good and try to do all for the guest but the parking area is horrible. The room was not prepared with towels and bathrobe. We booked a room with Temple view but in front of the terrace is directly the bar and the restaurant, so you can't enjoy the view. The breakfast you choose from the card, not much options. The idea is really good and the location is near to the historical park and the staff is good but the management try to make as much money as they can, so they don't think about the facilities outside. For me I never book this hotel because I travel by car and a parking area is a must have.

Review 39:The staff was not friendly or helpfull whatsoever. Whatever they could understand of what we were trying to say (nobody speaks any English at all except for the manager who understood a bit more) they weren't helpfull. Also, please be careful with the bikes the hotel offers. Mine was a dead trap with no brakes and a flat tire. We took them without noticing (is a 4 star hotel supposedly) and I almost killed myself. The hotel answer to this was denying the brake problem and sending complementary coconut drinks. If that wasn't enough, during check out we asked to get a taxi to the airport. The answer was that they didnt have any taxi numbers and that there weren't any taxis in the city...we ended up calling a taxi service we found online.

Review 40:The design of the hotel and it's nice river side views.

Review 41:The pool is beautiful, but not actually that comfortable. Not a big issue

Review 42:All of the touch-points were superb: clean and beautiful bathroom, comfortable bed, quiet and functional A/C. Additionally, as to be expected with the very high price compared with the rest of Ayutthaya, my room was fantastic. It was large with an immense wall of windows overlooking the ancient wat across the river. If you want to spring for luxurious digs, this place fits the bill.

Review 43:It looks like a modern hotel, however, it is noticed a very fast deteriorate on the infrastructure... Floor with a lot of dust, bath tube was impecable but the floor was really dirty. I stayed on room number 11, it includes a balcony and river view. Avoid this room, if you are a photographer looking privacy to take pcitures on the temple at the other side of the river. There are a couple of trees and they avoid a good picture. Staff is not so good in English. Book your transportation from and to Bangkok at Bangkok, it would be cheaper. I arrived to my room on the second day, and the room was a disaster, they did not make the room. My personal conclusion is this is not worth the money that you are paying.

Review 44:Nice scenery.

Review 45:The staff didn't speak English really well, but very friendly.

Review 46:The setting is stunning, the bedrooms are very spacious with great design, exquisite restaurant with view, perfect!

Review 47:First view is well designed, when after visiting the historic temples, you will sincerely respect the design, a refreshing experience. Nice sunrise above temples with Chao Phraya style breakfast was so cool, and so do the round bathtub.

Review 48:The breakfast was very good but only order from the menu. No buffet. But very good. No problem.

Review 49:I liked everything about this Hotel. I never saw something like this. You have to discover it for yourself. Just book the Superior rooms. They are good enough and right by the pool. Very nice big comfy beds. Big shower with huge bath tube. This Hotel is so nice and full of Art and mediteran like decorations and floors. Very nice view at the rive at breakfast time. Overlooking Buddhist Tempels and such things. I 1000% recommend this Hotel.

Review 50:amazing, cozy, stylish hotel. boutique style. room was amazing with the round bathtub and great bathroom amenities. breakfast was yummy with a great view over the river.

Review 51:Staff is friendly but unfortunately badly trained, service at the restaurant is incredibly slow and disorganized. I couldn't believe that they asked back the sleepers that my son used...maybe to re-use them???

Review 52:I loved our pool suite and the view from the restaurant.

Review 53:The pool is a little disappointing but the rest of our stay was perfect.

Review 54:The hotel is very clean and we had the best sleep at this hotel our whole trip. Staff are very caring and helpful. The food at this hotel is excellent. We were sad to leave.

Review 55:the swimming pool is tiny!

Review 56:The location - the view is just amazing! The restaurant has a very good chef - so if you eat at the hotel - better book your table

Review 57:We enjoyed our stay very much. The location is wonderful at the river, directly in the middle of the historic centre and perfect location and quality for breakfast and dinner. The staff and the hotel itself were excellent.

Review 58:You need to book ahead for your meals as the restaurant gets booked up, especially if you want to sit outside and enjoy the view.

Review 59:This is one of the nicest places that we have stayed at in Thailand. Fantastic location close to all of the cultural attractions of Ayutthaya, but quiet and intimate as well. Rooms are beautifully styled, just like the pictures, with big comfortable beds and baths made for sharing. Food was nice, and the menu is extensive enough to explore over a few days.

Review 60:No separation from the restaurant and private balconies, people can just walk in front of your room.

Review 61:River front views and balcony by the Wat and river. Staff was very attentive. Room was decorated and beautifully prepared for us.

Review 62:- Expensive! LOL but once in a while you would be willing to pay for something like this anyway : ) - Parking is a bit poor but the security works hard to satisfy everyone.

Review 63:- View - Design - Spacious room - Room layout - Bathtub is amaing! - Water is great! - Room! Room! Room!

Review 64:The wi-fi can be slow in some areas. The restaurant service is very slow.

Review 65:This hotel is a little oasis in Ayuthaya. The rooms are very large and comfortable and the restaurant has a great view of the river and a beautiful temple. The sunset was amazing. The food is excellent.

Review 66:the staff at the restaurant could be instructed more professionally (i.e. guests first- not cleaning or decorating tables instead) several nights sleep was disturbed by either loudly celebrating guests (2nd of Jan) until the morning hours or noisy neighbours unfortunately there was an ugly smell several of the 6 days we stayed, comin and goin (room no.18). We told the reception repeatedly, but it never disappeard completely.

Review 67:very comfortable beds/ cushions friendly personal at the restaurant outstanding design of the whole property of course the view from the hotels restaurant overlooking the river and Wat is spectacular.

Review 68:The service really needs to be improved. The first morning, staff brought only bread without butter which confused us a lot. The dinner at the hotel at night, food was not so good and very expensive. Staff were all busy with no service.

Review 69:Very nice hotel. Close to a lot of temples. Could see a beautiful temple view on the opposite of the river. Room was clean and designed nice.

Review 70:You will not receive proper greeting from the reception unless you drive Europe cars; limited parking lots, but the parking guard was very helpful.

Review 71:Made-to-order breakfast of your choice; nice view

Review 72:There is only very limited space to hang or lay clothes.

Review 73:Lovely hotel with a spectacular view. The staff is very friendly. The food is also good. The rooms are very light and spacious.

Review 74:- Tasteful & functional design of the rooms, and the whole hotel with a lot of attention to detail. - Beautiful view of the river and ruins - Great restaurant - Friendly staff - One of the best places I've ever stayed at. - Loved the free bikes

Review 75:Overpriced
