Reviews for City Backpackers Hostel
Review 1:Unfortunately, the shower and the toilets haven´t been as clean as I would have wished, but that might have been caused by the fact, that the hostel was almost fully booked that day.
Review 2:There was a quite international and friendly atmosphere within the young guests, the staff was really helpful and friendly and the common rooms were well equiped and comfortable. Location and breakfast have also been very nice, so for this price the hostel is a really good choice and I would join it again...
Review 3:The staffs are really commit to the regulation for quiet hours (23-07) at the hostel which is good. A set of computers that we can use is also a great point.
Review 4:The staff was super frienldy. The breakfast in tasty and enough. The other hosted people are friendly and nice to each other. The rooms are heated and clean.
Review 5:the kitchen is not enough equipement for every one (maybe an oven will help to have more people cooking at the same time and often some of the cooking plates were not working) and a lot people leave it dirty (put some sign to clean it).... add some forks... but good organisation with the fridges ...
Review 6:Good place where to stay and quite close to the city center.... nice enviroment and staff and a lot of comfort. it is nice both inside and outside. it is a nice place to meet people since there are a lot common rooms and since the sleeping room are not too big. a lot of services are free - free pasta!!!! My friends and I feld very happy to be there!!
Review 7:Nothing much, some little problems with the cooking plates. They turn off after every 3-4 minutes and u always have to check them. The left ones don't work almost all the time.
Review 8:The hostel is really close to the central station, the staff is really kind and helpful and the rooms are clean and comfortable.
Review 9:I lived Ina mix4room, the upper & down bed makes a lot of noise. Some people were still talking after 11pm outside the room. Every room has its refrigerator but still somebody "steal" my food, which is maybe not related to the hostel but I was really not satisfied.
Review 10:Nice hostel in Stockholm. The staff is nice and the equipment is good, especially the kitchen and common room. Fast wifi. Convenient place near train station and airport shuttle.
Review 11:- Breakfast is not included (but you can buy it with discount in the day of check-in). - There is no "quiet" room, where you will be able to work.
Review 12:- The hostel is located in the city's center, close to the central station (5 min by walk).
Review 13:Some guests did not respect the quiet hours, and the price was a bit high (though commensurate with the location, I suppose!)
Review 14:It was near the train station, and all of the major sites. The staff were friendly and quite helpful, the rooms and common areas were very clean, and the free pasta was an awesome addition to the stay.
Review 15:The private bathroom could have more hooks for hanging clothes or bags.
Review 16:Staff at the reception was so friendly and welcoming , bed is comfortable , atmosphere just right! Location is great near to everything . Would recommend it to everyone else who visits Stockholm
Review 17:It was in a great location central to everything and also had a great cozy feel. The staff was great and really helpful. The facilities were also wonderful with plenty of space to lounge and relax
Review 18:bathroom could be better
Review 19:really big space cozy and clean room with good bed could enjoy sauna have movie night every night - could enjoy traditional movie good decoration
Review 20:Amazing reception! We even received an e-mail before we arrive with all the schedule of activities that the hostel was helding during our stay! Free movie nights, free pasta, free ice skates to borrow and use in the ice skating ring in the city center during christmas... Lovely place!
Review 21:Didn't know about the private showers which included hair dryer etc, had been using the basic showers which have no locks!
Review 22:Great hostel with lots of organised activities, fantastic that they offer free ice skate hire, free pasta and a sauna! Nice and clean, easy walking distance from central station.
Review 23:Has everything you need including laundry, wifi, computers, lounge, lockers, etc. Location is right in the middle of Stockholm within walking distance of the Central station. Staff are very helpful.
Review 24:None.
Review 25:Location is close to central station, shopping street and supermarket. Bed was really comfortable. Availability of private bathroom is the best while shared bathroom is also available. Staff is very attentive. Sauna and free pasta are the great buy-ins for me. I arrived late yet hostel sent me an instruction in the email on how to get-in. Highly recommended this hostel!
Review 26:It's a very big hostel and I feel more shower/bathroom facilities would be better. Didn't like you're not allowed to go in with shoes.
Review 27:Rooms were huge, had lockers with locks not keys, awesome location, nice staff, free pasta all day, few nice events, movie screenings
Review 28:Staff were amazing and friendly. One guy helped me out when I got pickpocketed, thank you! There's a massive kitchen/hang out area downstairs and shoes off policy so nice and clean. 10min walk from the Arlanda Express/Central train station and then you can walk to town.
Review 29:They charge you for clean sheets during the check in. Isn't a responsibility of all hostels to provide free of charge clean sheets to their customers ? Breakfast can improve
Review 30:Good facilities , free coffee , most of the staff is very friendly
Review 31:The facilities are amazing. Amazingly well located, it's a 5 minute walk from Centralstation and very close to the shopping centre. The beds are very comfortable which help quite a bit after a long day walk.
Review 32:The three nights booking policy for nights that include Friday, Saturday or Sunday will deter bookings since many people travel on a weekend breaks. Although 2 nights policy should be fine.
Review 33:It's a cool place with a young and fresh vibe to it. Comfy beds, cleaner everymorning to clean the rooms, beds, toilets and kitchen areas. Most rooms are in the basement without a window but don't worry, there is adequate ventilation. Considering its winter, I thought the place would be cold but nice and warm throughout both the day and night. Communal sofas in the basement for winter and upstairs veranda for summer are perfect to meet people in addition to cafe, btw met some nice people whom I am friends with now! The staff is always more than. Happy to help and are cheerful which is great since the last thing you want is arrogance whilst on your holiday. Hire the bike and go around the city, it's lovely! And don't forget to cook together with people all over the world and try the pasta, the coking classes and the pub crawl :-)
Review 34:The wifi wasn't so stable and they charge you for bed linens.
Review 35:Great location near central station and not too far from the old town. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Large common area with all facilities in good condition. Great atmosphere!
Review 36:you have to pass through the kitchen in your way to rooms (wasn't convenient)
Review 37:Location is second to non, helpful staff specialy the lady receiptinst was great, real value for money
Review 38:Nothing bad
Review 39:Amazing atmosphere! Great kitchen and common room, beds where comfy and great way to meet people all around the world! Breakfast was great too!
Review 40:Reception opens only at 8am (had to wait a bit), the bathroom and showers of my dorm were out of use due to renovations, somebody ate one of my cinnamon rolls left overnight in the kitchen (they were labeled), breakfast costs extra 59-69SEK
Review 41:Sauna available for free use, cosy and we'll equipped common rooms & facilities, bedlinen available for rent, dorms for ladies (easier to change clothes, etc), good security (different codes for the hostel and the dorm rooms, change daily), individual locker for each person in the dorm (bring your own lock), free coffee at the reception, free pasta in the kitchen, very organised and orderly, less than 10min walking to the train station which is super convenient when catching an early train, location is close to shopping areas and a good starting point for sightseeing
Review 42:Location is great, near to central station, old town area, main tourist spots, supermarkets, and shopping streets. Facilities are nice, well-equipped. There is a kitchen that you can buy own foods from supermarket or eat free pasta. Feels like home.
Review 43:Was asked not to wear shoes inside the hostel but found the floors a little dirty to walk barefoot. Slippers are a must.
Review 44:Super super SUPER helpful staff; centrally located; perfect room design with emphasis on personal privacy; plenty of common spaces; and a wonderful kitchen!
Review 45:When you arrive in a new city all by yourself it can be difficult to find your way around. The receptionist was fantastic since my arrival. Gave me some very good recommendations. One of which, the breakfast. Very good starting of the day. The bike tour was also fantastic. Gives you a very good idea of the city.
Review 46:Nothing serious
Review 47:Friendly, ready to help staff, good location, free to use iMacs in common area, clean well organised kitchen with free pasta, stable Wi-Fi. Excellent decorations in the lobby. Great atmosphere
Review 48:The no-shoes rule would work better if it was more "enforced".
Review 49:The staff is very friendly and all facilities are in good condition. The location has easy access to the central station and the main streets.
Review 50:The location is good but is a bit of a walk from the central station. About 10 minutes. Which is ok but with luggage can be bothersome. They also charge for the blankets. What's that about? They ask you: do you need blankets? Of course! who travels with them? You also have to decide on the spot if you want breakfast (for a fee), because if you decide later then it's more expensive. My advice: take it! There are not that many choices but for the money is good enough. If you buy a sandwich at 7-Eleven it will be more expensive!! Also I wish the bunk beds had curtains for privacy but not a big deal.
Review 51:Overall it is a great hostel. The decor and the facilities are great. They have Apple Mac's everywhere. The kitchen is big and there is a fridge per room. They even have a fridge for leftover food you can grab for free. Pasta is also free of charge if you want to cook.
Review 52:The luggage storage room is in the basement without a lift. So if you have heavy luggage, i suggest you to really think if you want to put it there.
Review 53:The mixed room I stayed is very big! It's clean and the location is good.
Review 54:The bathrooms were a bit small and in the mornings, you had to wait for a free one.
Review 55:The dorms were very clean and the staff was great. The location was excellent and close to the main metro, bus, and train stations.
Review 56:Room circle around the common area so you have to go through the middle of everyone to go to your room, also it gets very loud outside your door when you're trying to sleep. Bathroom was dark and not that clean.
Review 57:Location was very good and price was reasonable
Review 58:The hostel lobby makes a great first impression, with its antique decorations, laid back chill out places and free coffee in the evening! The hostel lives by the first impression.. Clean amenities, great communal areas, well equipped kitchen and comfortable beds. I stayed at 3 different rooms and even found the room closest to the communal area not so loud. Stockholm is quiet expensive, so u can save money by cooking food! There are a lot of free stuff in kitchen as well! And the staff are all really nice ppl!!
Review 59:I know some people had problems with wifi but it worked for me so I'm not sure. The hostel was very far away from the old town where you usually go out so it was a long way back home after the pub crawl (if you cannot afford the expensive buses)
Review 60:I liked the mood of the hostel, a lot of cool people hanging around and its easy to make friends. The cleaning ladies are so nice! They were super nice and cleaned everything really well. My pillow was a little bit dirty and she changed it without me asking for it. Nice kitchen Sockets in every bed. free pasta ! showers and beds were very clean
Review 61:none
Review 62:good location (near the central station), wifi everywhere, available desktop computers, plenty showers and toilet, luggage room, kitchen, free pasta... and the best part: SAUNA!!!
Review 63:I travelled at september and the room was a bit cold. I thought that it is a social hostel but ı couldnt find it. There was movie night but only one person was watching and there was nobody at bar. At the breakfast there were middle age people.
Review 64:The staff was so helpful and polite, especially long man in the reception was so nice. Location was ok and easy to find. They alert guests about being quıet.There was a paper on walls and writing that "be quıet after 10 pm, people pay for to sleep". In front of my room, there was tv and chairs, people were talking and ı stressed about noise, but about 11 pm they went. It was quıet at night. There were a lot of toilets and shared showers. Also there was a private shower. If you dont want to use shared showers, you can use it. Kitchen was big and there were free meals and drinks.there were computers and internet, ıt is so useful.
Review 65:* Bit chaotic check in * Guy at breakfast was indifferent, poor English/communication * WIFI in room very spotty (downstairs) * People were not using the sheets * Information whether flip flops or house shoes are allowed would be good - floor was sticky and/or wet in places, not nice when walking with socks (as you have to take off shoes) * Information about code locked doors for private showers lacking
Review 66:* Location - 10 mins walk from Central Station * Good value breakfast option
Review 67:The "no shoes" rule was a bit much. I understand they have to keep the place clean. Place is too loud for me. Our room was right next to the kitchen and that didn't help.
Review 68:The location was very close to the Central Station.
Review 69:The rooms are very small with the cheap metal beds many hostiles are now using that are noisy and wake everyone up when someone comes in late or has to leave early for a flight. The bathrooms are pretty gross, even by hostile standards, the one I used had a massive leak out of one of the joints that just sprayed water all over uncontrollably. There was one toilet/bathroom near our four rooms in the basement, so there was quite a backup at times and the bathroom is extremely small.
Review 70:The location is really good; walking distance to main train & bus station. Outdoor lounge area is really cool.
Review 71:Not enough toilets for the number of guests
Review 72:Everything. The hostel is in a good location. The staff is very friendly. The kitchen has everything one needs to cook. It is currently being renovated. Very good price.
Review 73:Internet connection doesn't work that well in the rooms.
Review 74:Nice courtyard, good ambiance and a lot of places to meet up other travellers. Animations such as movies and tours. Sauna. I even had a sauna in my room ! Nice location, close to the main train station. Good value for money overall, especially for Stockholm.
Review 75:- Some of the staff are really nice, but others not - The showers could be cleaner - Some beds are really noisy, so every movement makes a loud noise
Review 76:Good location, free sauna, nice dorms and common rooms.
Review 77:It was pretty much perfect!
Review 78:Perfect atmosphere, so quirky and different to everywhere else. Staff were amazing. Facilities fantastic. The place was spotless. Beds were the comfiest of my whole trip. Organised events within hostel. Definitely will be back!
Review 79:Not much negative to tell. The toilets were clean but just a bit too worn-out generally. (They're working on it.) The kitchen was too noisy during dinner time, which is fine in itself, but for the people sitting in the common room next to the kitchen, the noise was pretty disturbing.
Review 80:The organisation of the whole hostel was quite impressive, with all the labelled refrigerators and other stuff in the kitchen. My dormitory room was very clean, as the common room, and my bed was very comfortable. I spent a few hours in the common room, which was also cozy and comfortable. All in all, a very nice experience.
Review 81:Nothing was wrong with this place. Maybe the beds are a little squeaky sometimes, but that didn't bother me at all. The breakfast is always the same, not an issue for me but it can bother some people.
Review 82:Superfriendly staff, we talked with Ildi,Ollie and Katarina. Great place and fantastic location. The best hostel there is in Stockholm, simple as that. Great private showers, never too crowded.
Review 83:Bed linen costs extra to hire.
Review 84:Very comfortable bed and grest kitchen. Good location very close to the central train station. Love the private showers.
Review 85:As a female in a shared mixed-gender room, I found there was a lack of private areas where one could get dressed for example. The washrooms were too small for this.
Review 86:For a bed in the city, this was a very cost-effective place to stay. The staff were friendly and there are a lot of facilities on the premises that enable self-sufficiency.
Review 87:Nothing serious. Staff could be friendlier, but I feel they're a bit overworked. No complaints.
Review 88:Perfect location. Pretty decent property. Quite like the vintage theme they've got going. Amazing breakfast for the money paid. Overall pretty good.
Review 89:I have to say it's so bad that there is no elevator....my luggage is too heavy! And the staff is not so ethusiastic...
Review 90:The location is pretty good, 10min walk from the central station.
Review 91:Breakfast wasn't included but I think this is typical of Swedish hostels. We bought breakfast, but there is no buffet (just a list of things one can pick). The hostel is quite close to the train and bus station (a 10-minute walk away) but a bit far by foot from Gamla Stan (approx. 25 minutes) and Soderlarm (45-50 minutes) where all the action is!
Review 92:The hostel is amazing. It is the only hostel I have ever been with a (free) sauna. Free tea and coffee are also available.
Review 93:Breakfast at the cafe was okay, but it was just so little.
Review 94:Take-off-shoe policy was the best, since I really hate wearing shoes inside. Because of that the floors of the hostel were quite clean. Each room has its own entrance password, which helps the safety.
Review 95:Wifi signal was low from our room (but it was okay in common areas) It was a bit cold in the night Some people might not like the rooms downstairs because there is little light (in that case, they have rooms available upstairs)
Review 96:Everything. This place has all that you can ask for from a hostel: nice kitchen, many bathrooms/WC, activities, free tea/coffee, reasonably priced and good breakfast (for Stockholm), comfy beds.
Review 97:it was cold in the room. However, when I asked whether room temperature could be changed they suggested they will give me an extra duvee which was fine. Also, I didnt like the fact that the hob doesnt work from 11pm onwards...
Review 98:Staff, atmosphere, people and the fact that people take shoes when they enter the building.
Review 99:I had to leave after one week because my holidays were finished .....
Review 100:Perfect location right near to everything, big guest kitchen, really friendly and caring staff, big inner court to stay outside in the evening or having some coffee in the morning. Sauna and pasta for free, fast and well-working wlan everywhere and really clean. And a sufficient number of sockets at your bed to charge your mobiles and tablets, even one in your locker.
Review 101:Some rooms are at basement level which might be an issue for some people.
Review 102:Very friendly and helpful staff. Clean and safe place. Free WiFi & printing available. Easy to meet new people. Organised kitchen with some free food items available for all to use. Excellent location close to main train, metro and bus stations.
Review 103:One washer and dryer. Used stairs to go down from our ground floor room to the showers and kitchen. Hostel does have elevator but I do not know if it went to the basement kitchen/showers. A good hike to the old inner city.
Review 104:Several lounges. Large, well equipped kitchen. Good security. Sauna. Good bus connection to main station, old inner city and Abba museum. Good bus connection to grocery store up the hill but not great back to the hostel but it is an easy downhill walk.
Review 105:I didnt feel comfortable there. Prior to my arrival Ive sent two emails but i got no response-( Too many stair cases plus everything works on codes only... Even though they say the check in time is from 8.00, its a lie because its just the time when reception opens up... You can leave your bag there, but the check in time is not until 2pm(which is typical for a hostel, but they shouldt have written 8am i think) You can to pay for sheets. Toilets didnt have toilet paper
Review 106:Location. Many toilets. Quite clean
Review 107:you can have free pasta to cook for yourself and every room has its own refrigerator, that's cool!! Staff are so nice and I really enjoy staying there!!
Review 108:Well-appointed interior in a secure setting. Comfortable and cozy - always managed to get a good night's rest after a long day of sightseeing! Only a short walk from the Central Station. Plenty of iMacs available in the common area for everyone to use, which was unnecessary given that the WiFi worked well even inside the room!
Review 109:The only downside is that the beds were particularly squeaky, and the floor under the bed was pretty dusty - which I found out the hard way!
Review 110:The hostel wasn't too far from the station, and yet there wasn't a lot of traffic going past it so it was in a nice, quiet area. The rooms were decent sized, and it had plenty of areas to relax and chat to other backpackers, including a big kitchen and a large lounge with computers and free wifi available.
Review 111:Everything is OK. Wish to stay in Stockholm for longer days.
Review 112:Fantastic location! 10 mins walking to center station and easily to go to old town and many place. Safe and relexy environment. Affordable price for Chinese visitors. Accessable WIFI signal in room. Delicious breakfast.
Review 113:The whole atmosphere in the hostel is great, the staff is really cool, the are kind and willing to answer questions. Everything was really clean and it has the best hostel breakfast I've ever had. Totally worth the 65 sek.
Review 114:The hostel is very close to the central station and easy to locate. It was clean and well-maintained. The wi-fi was also excellent. The people at the reception were nice but compared to other hostels I found them less enthusiastic. I found the nomenclature of dorm rooms interesting. They have named the rooms after various islands in Stockholm, like Djurgarden, Skeppsholmen, Kungsholmen, etc. I enjoyed staying there for three nights in May 2015. I'd like to stay here again if I return to Stockholm sometime in future.
Review 115:all the bathrooms are in the basement , that's kind of inconvenient for the guests upstairs
Review 116:very nice location, just 5 minutes from the train station
Review 117:WiFi is useful, but about my trip I don't want to tell my friends or coworkers.WiFi in this hostel need to peach in FB.I don't like it.
Review 118:Everything
Review 119:only minus point are : 1. most of bed rooms are underground, still have some windows on the top of the room. 2. the kitchen is small, not enough table, especially some people gathering to drink and have dinner together everynight, other individual can't use. sometimes are really noisy , it's awful to eat in such noisy underground space.
Review 120:it's very clean, stuffs clean the room every day, the kitchen is good, free noodle, the common room is beautiful, toilet and shower are nice and enough , it's almost perfect with this price. maybe the best hostel in stockholm.
Review 121:Would have appreciated it if they provided a couple of clothes hangers for guests staying at apartment units. Our apartment had its own entrance right on the main street; made me somewhat anxious at first.
Review 122:Spacious room that actually accommodates more persons than the stated maximum no. of guests. Toilet was a bit rusty but I personally had no problem with that. Located right at the city centre but on its rather quiet side. Walking distance from/to the central station and bus terminal, and very near to bus stops, which is very handy on rainy days.
Review 123:The rule where you take your shoes off once you enter hostel and no shoes in bedroom " it's a Swedish custom ". Even though we payed for private room.
Review 124:Nice , clean hostel . I stayed in a private 6 beds with private shower/bath
Review 125:Coffee was not very good unfortunately. Also--it's a hostel, so if you booked a shares bathroom, you're sharing bathrooms.
Review 126:Very friendly and affordable place to stay. Comfortable beds and breakfast was a good value: choice of fresh-made waffle, cinnamon roll or sandwich plus yogurt, OJ, coffee or tea and fruit.
Review 127:I had put the label with my name and date in my gluten free fresh food on the kitchen, the one for my bedroom, someone has taken it : (( my food disappear!!! Next day no food left! Very dissapointed! I think also they should put any type of hanger or a dangler into the walls of the room, there was plenty space on the room. It was rainning so much, the coat was completely wet and there was not anything inside the room to put it out to dry!!! even just a single chair had help!
Review 128:I liked the fact that you can use the kitchen, specially when you are intolerante to gluten as I am. Very well located, very clean and also to be able to use the sauna. Big sized room for 8 girls.
Review 129:no lift (however, staff was very kind to offer help if needed)
Review 130:Nice stay at a very original place in Stockholm. Near the central station but accommodations near the royal palace can offer a better view of the river.
Review 131:I'm not crazy about hostels in general, but expensive as Stockholm is, I decided to go for it. It felt clean, safe and is very well located. Wi-fi signal was strong, and it looked like the place had all the facilities needed in a hostel although I didn't use much of it.
Review 132:Staffs are not very friendly. They did answer all my questions, but, somehow, I feel that they are not very nice. I am not used to taking a shower with other people so it was very weird and uncomfortable to do so.
Review 133:Very close to the Central Station and shopping places. Many restaurants around. Was the cheapest option I can find in Stockholm.
Review 134:I didn't like the fact that sheets and towels have to be paid aside, but that seems to be very common in here and it's made clear in advance, anyway. The breakfast is also paid aside but I think that's fair, you can always buy your food and prepare it in the kitchen :)
Review 135:The staff is super friendly, and helpful when needed. I think the hostel is very well organized and both the room and the common areas are spacious enough. I really liked the fact that there are private wc and showers. Also, the breakfast was really good and well served.
