Reviews for Hakata Excel Hotel Tokyu

Review 1:Great location. Nice rooms. 24-hour Donki shopping is 5 mins away from the hotel, very convenient. Near subway, city center & restaurants. Clean & comfortable.

Review 2:the rate quite expensive compare to room and service we deserved. toilette was smell and the room was so tight. no space to hang our used towel and hotel amenities was not impressed.

Review 3:our family can stay in one suit and location was not too bad.

Review 4:LOCATION WAS perfect, evening strolls always interesting, the scene was a bit less family friendly at night but this was not a problem for our family, Loved being near the river and civic park, concert hall and lots of local activity. All the family loved the buffet breakfast. Possible to walk to hotel from train station, otherwise a quick taxis ride.

Review 5:Was a bit noisy at night due to some street race. And room feels a bit smelly.

Review 6:Location is fairly easy access to train statiOn and food. Staff was really kind in assisting with request and questions.

Review 7:Flexible arrangement for guest and helpful staff- We booked 1 day before and after we traveled to other rural area of kyushu. The hotel helped keep some of our luggage for few days. The whole thing is very smooth as we drive back to hotel after travel to other area. Helpful staff- As we were running late from the time we booked to take rental car, we asked the staff in front desk to help us call the company and change pick up time. She was nice and helpful~ Nice location- There are some small restaurants nearby and supermarket and 24 hr store, which was very convenient for tourist who still want to shop a little at night. The hotel quite old fashion but the facilities in general is satisfactory.

Review 8:Beds not great. Fukuoka was kind of boring.

Review 9:Close to the subway and in Fukuoka this also means close to the airport. Check-in was like 2 hours earlier than officially possible.

Review 10:Great location, very lively. Although be aware that the red light district is just around the corner. I did get guys trying to get me to go into girlie bars as I was walking down the street at about 5pm

Review 11:We lived in a so called non-smoking room on the 12th floor (so called non smoking floor) but the corridor and our room had the smell of cigarette smoke. The air purifier helped a bit but it was still very disappointing especially when we were travelling with small kids. Staff: some were good and nice but some were cold and with no smile

Review 12:It is very close to the Anpanman Museum.

Review 13:Location. Short subway ride from Hakata station (2 stops) & then 50 m from subway exit. Free late checkout at 12pm by joining hotel club rewards for free.

Review 14:nothing

Review 15:large seize room (suite) with all amenities. Ideal for family wit two small children. Close to canal city shopping, 20 minutes taxi ride to airport

Review 16:Excellent breakfast buffet, easy hotel for a tourist. Good location, but difficult to find for the first time from the subway. Excellent Foodways supermarket very close.

Review 17:Nothing to dislike

Review 18:Front desk staff could speak a little English and were helpful. Gave directions where we could go for dinner in the neighbourhood. We drove back v late (1 am) from a day trip and the carpark was closed. The front desk quickly activated a manager to help park our car. All done with smiles and bows. Excellent service.

Review 19:Beds are very hard but this is common in Japan.

Review 20:Great location! Close to many tourist spots and great restaurants. Rooms are a little larger than a typical Japanese hotel room.

Review 21:The hotel is about 20 minutes walk from the station but during the day there is a shuttle bus. There aren't many bars or restaurants near the hotel so you are limited to the hotel itself. The rooms are a little old but still well kept.

Review 22:The hotel has a pub and restaurant in the basement that's open til 1pm. The views from the balcony look over the bay to Miyajima island and beautiful at sunrise.

Review 23:It will be perfect if I was given the canal view. There are a few clubs around the hotel.

Review 24:The subway is just behind the hotel. Restaurant and a supermarket less than 5 minutes walk. There are many yatai not far away if you walk along the canal.

Review 25:None. They had a constraction during the day but receptionist told us when we checked in so it was no problem.

Review 26:This hotel is in the Main Street in hakata. Very clean and staff was friendly and nice.

Review 27:Although there was a Chinese speaking staff. She only speaks Chinese but could not answer most of our questions. Not knowledgeable enough about information for tourists.

Review 28:I like the location.

Review 29:The room temperature was a bit too hot and we couldn't make the AC work properly. The pillows are small.

Review 30:The location, the room, the size of the bed, the details and amenities, the building and staff.

Review 31:음식은(조식) 나쁘지 않지만 훌륭한 것도 아니에요. 딱 보통. The breakfast isn't excellent but so so.

Review 32:역에서 매우 가깝고 바로 앞에 강이 있어서 산책하기도 좋아요. The location is very very good and there is a lriver in front of the hotel. It is a really good for taking a walk at night.

Review 33:The room/bathroom were no better than APA, Dormy Inn, or any of the other central Fukuoka hotels that charge half the price.

Review 34:Staff were polite & helpful, location was good. Nice shampoo.

Review 35:Someone who previously stayed at our room must have left her earrings and it seemed that house keeper forgot to clean it.. Otherwise, the overall service and quality of the facilities are okay.

Review 36:I stayed a night at the hotel. The hotel is okay, but the restaurant right next to the hotel made the night special. It is located at the 2nd floor. It has the view over the river, the bridge and the musicians on the bridge, and people enjoying the night in Hakata. Though the master cannot speak English at all and we had troubles ordering Raw Squid Sashimi ("Ika" in Japanese), he later offered extra dishes and a bottle of Sake for free. The price is very reasonable, you get a raw squid sashimi and a choice of either fried or grilled squid at 2,000 Yen.

Review 37:Our only complaint is the smelly toilet. We called the housekeeping staff who gave us a spray that solved the problem.

Review 38:We booked a triple room which is more spacious than we expected. It's location is great with many dining choices nearby. Overall it's a pleasant stay.

Review 39:Very much a hotel to sleep only. Don't expect your luggages to be taken into your room for you. Room makeup is very basic. And you do need to prepay your entire stay up front.

Review 40:Excellent location. Close to Canal City and Tenjin. Just a short bus ride or walk away.

Review 41:Parents Beware! If you are going to stay at this hotel, be prepared that this is the red light district!! There are strippers clubs everywhere at the back of the hotel. The women were dressed in their sexy clothes and soliciting openly on the streets. My teenaged kids were shocked and ended up counting the number of streetwalkers on the night we arrived and were looking for dinner.

Review 42:Quite near to city area and subway station.

Review 43:The location is convenient & easy to locate. There are many eateries around and some are 24 hours. Even it's restaurant food is good that is reasonably priced.

Review 44:Be warned about the hotel surrounding. We walked around and seems we were surrounded by "18-and-older-only bubble bath." Didn't really bother us but might someone.

Review 45:The location was good. Walk a little bit to the back of the hotel then there's a subway. The hotel's next to the river. Yatai is within walking distance.

Review 46:We are a family of four and during our trip around Kyushu, this hotel's quad room was by far the best and most generous in size. The location is also just a 5 min walk from the main Tenjin street and we had a room with a nice view of the canal. The staff were also very helpful and friendly. We would highly recommend this hotel.

Review 47:No breakfast here but a huge selection of nearby coffee shops etc. Meant this wasn't a problem. Wasn't all that cheap!

Review 48:We booked this hotel as it seemed to be the very last hotel available in Fukuoka for the night before our flight out of Fukuoka airport. As such it wasn't all that cheap, but it was a pretty nice hotel. Centrally located and easy to find from the nearby subway station, we had asked for a higher floor room and got a top floor room, from which the views were excellent. Check in was quick and efficient and helpful - great tourist map provided in English! Decent sized room and comfy bed made this a good place to stay for the night.

Review 49:They were full booked, but the room was stinky smoked, I had a terrible night. I paid 10,000¥ on a sale, but in the surroundings, there was a chance to get a clean bed also for more or less the same price. I told personnel but nobody care to check.

Review 50:Location

Review 51:Nice view from the room. It was a small room but we were told that when we reserved it, but it was still plenty big. Good internet, nice bathroom, it had everything we needed.

Review 52:The hotel is on a narrow road facing the river. There wasconstruction going on obstructing the road outside blocking easyaccess from the street. At busy times the elevator capacity is not enough leading to queues of people waiting with their luggage at each floor. There was no alternative stairs to use as the door was marked "PRIVATE". I gave the staff a low rating even though they were on the whole very efficient because of a weird incident where they said that they didn't have one of my two room keys and then later produced it. I have no idea why this happened and it could have been a little disturbing if I wasn't a Japanese speaker. The surrounding night life might be a little too bustling for families with young children at night.

Review 53:This is a really nice hotel.Close to the airport by subway and central location for night life in Fukuoka. Opposite the river and a short walk away from the Yatai food stalls that Fukuoka is famous for.

Review 54:Staffs are not friendly and not helpful as well. The air-con no matter in the public area or in the room is a joke. We couldn't sleep well on the first night due to the heat. We turned the Aircon to 20 degree with high fan. But it is useless. We were both sweating. On the next morning, we asked for help at the front desk, the staff told us to leave our key and they went to check it while we were out. When we were back from shopping, the staff didnt say anything and just handed the key to us. I asked what they have found out. Then, the staff just said "the Aircon works okay, we can turn it on"...... And then I asked them if anything can do to help us, at least we need a good sleep. Finally, they offered us a FAN! It's really a big joke. Won't go back!

Review 55:The bathroom smells like mold and the carpet is dirty. The room is different from the room that I booked.

Review 56:The staff are very accomodating and friendly.

Review 57:None

Review 58:Excellent location. Working distance to tenjin and canal city and yatai stalls. Hotel is close by to good restaurants (ichiran ramen, saga beef BBQ, sushi joint) and subway station.

Review 59:rooms somewhat warn looking. clean but could do with redecoration. price is fair, but not a 'bargain' no additional facitities, only room and front area

Review 60:location is very good for walk to canal city, subway, nakasu area, easy to walk / bus to tenjin hotel is clean staff speak english

Review 61:Average regular 3 star hotel.

Review 62:Decent location just a couple of mins away from the nearest subway station. Walking distance to Tenjin.

Review 63:decent location. but a bit off the shopping area

Review 64:We booked twin beds for 2 rooms but we got queen size bed. Very disappointed.
