Reviews for Zfreeti Hotel

Review 1:Having to pay cash on arrival is very inconvenient , I would expect this from a hostel not this type of hotel.

Review 2:Everything, rooms very comfortable, rooftop breakfast nice. The hotel's ebikes are a really good way to explore the temples at your own pace

Review 3:I called and emailed ahead at least 3 times to let them know we will arrive with the 3am bus. I even booked from the night before to make sure they had a room. When we arrived, the reception guy was quit grumpy, did not seem informed that we were coming. He said because we check in so late, the room we booked was not available, so he would give us an "upgrade". It could not see a difference but ok. They only accept cash for payment. The first two nights they had a large Indian group staying and the special arrangements they made for them really tainted the experience of us other guests. Shower drain was clogged so two people showering right after one another flooded the bathroom.

Review 4:Except for the check-in guy, all staff members were extremely friendly and attentive. Some of the waiters practised their German on us. The atmosphere is nice for dinner by the pool and the food was great. Room was clean and well-furnished. Staff was helpful with arranging bus tickets to Mandalay for us. There is an ATM in the lobby.

Review 5:That most rooms have only twin beds not double

Review 6:We arrived early and reveived a room at 6am .The staff were all very helpful and friendly .very good buffet breakfast .nice room and nice bathroom .good position.we had a safe and kettle in the room

Review 7:Internet connection was sporadic and slow in the room. Better connection in the lobby.

Review 8:Staff very helpful and friendly. Enjoyed having breakfast on the roof! Had dinner at the hotel restaurant one night and we thought the food and service was quite good.

Review 9:Wireless connectivity was pretty much non-existant but then again so is the rest of the country.

Review 10:Loved the pool. Pool patio bar. The Staff was excellent! Nice clean rooms.

Review 11:There is no phone signal (I bought prepaid sim card and it didn't work in the hotel grounds), and wifi is very very weak, we had to sit at the reception area to be slightly connected. Not for people who need to be connected to internet.

Review 12:Staff were very friendly and helpful, hotel and room were modern and spotless.

Review 13:Hotel and room not clean. Bed is not comfortable. Poor breakfast selection.

Review 14:Staff were helpful. Location was great for sightseeing and lots of nice restaurants nearby.

Review 15:The hotel doesn't accept cards whatsoever. We booked a few flight tickets via them, which drained our cash. Wifi in the room isn't the best, there were couple of nights I just couldn't get any messages out from Whatsapp...

Review 16:The hotel is simply designed, very clean and makes very comfortable stay. The stuff are polite and cheerful. It was also really helpful to have an early check in arranged, after a long and cold overnight bus ride.

Review 17:Wifi connection (as the rest of Myanmar) is not ideal. I would changecurrent white restaurant tables and chairs for wooden furniture

Review 18:Staff is exceptionell, very friendly and skilled. Pool is beautifull andthe location of the hotel is perfect close to a nice street with lots ofrestaurants while the food at Freetzi is also from a very good standard.

Review 19:The water goes everywhere when you shower. The water doesn't drain fast enough. The towels look dirty. There is no safety box in the room if you book the standard room. The hotel is located on a side street that is dark once it gets late.

Review 20:Staff is very friendly and attentive. The restaurant food is delicious and very well priced.

Review 21:terrible noise level starting at 5 am tiny room with tiny bath from without a shower curtain next building only 2m away from room window pigeons in the breakfast area no wardrobe or safe deposit box in the room Internet was not working for 4 days straight

Review 22:proximity to restaurant street

Review 23:The drain in the shower didn't work very well causing a flooded bathroom. You can hear the doors of all the other rooms opening and closing...it's a bit noisy....though I wasn't too much bothered by it.

Review 24:Nice hotel and room. Very good breakfast.

Review 25:Near the Old Bagan area, you need a E-BIKE (5$ day) to explore it. Nice and new hotel , polite and smilin staff spoke good english, clean rooms, huge buffet breakfast, nice swimming pool and bar area, good restaurant, you can find a small mini market behind the hotel turn left; in the same street lot of restaurant too. Safe area even if bit dark at night. 1000% RECOMMENDED (I travel south east asia since 1997). YOU NEED E-BIKE!

Review 26:Great overall experience, wifi connection was poor though. Rooms were a bit bare bones, but clean and comfortable.

Review 27:Great location, hot shower and the pool area is really nice. Didn't eat at the restaurant but the food looked really good when we passed by. The breakfast buffet on the rooftop had something for everyone. The staff was very friendly as well.

Review 28:Wi-fi is absolutely useless. Its not a Myanmar problem cos the restaurants around the corner had very solid Wi-fi. Change your provider!

Review 29:Staff were very accommodating. Pool/bar was a nice place to chill on rainy days. The e-bikes are great. Plenty of restaurants close by.

Review 30:Check all arrangements in writing - that is in ENGLISH letters - NOT only Burmese !

Review 31:An erroer had 'occured' in the booking of onward bus travel. In 30 minutes the reception 'manager' arranged for an alternative bus connection and we mande it ON TIME !

Review 32:Small wet bathroom. Rooms on top floor are below the rooftop restaurant so can be noisy in the early mornings. Don't hire the hotel's electric bikes - the larger scooter ones in the shop on the other side of the street are much better.

Review 33:Helpful and friendly staff. Breakfast. Rooftop restaurant. Swimming pool.

Review 34:Having no safety deposit box in the room was really an inconvenience. Topped by an advise that no values should remain in the room. It's not a solution to carry around all values all the time!!! A big hotel with lots of guests.

Review 35:Swimming pool and surrounding gardens are lovely. E-Bikes from the hotel. Breakfast on the roof.

Review 36:stuff is very unsufficient. WIFI nearly never works. The restaurant served me prawnsalad with dirty prawns. The comment was "sorry". 2 person in a twinroom do only get one key. Payment is only possible with cash money (Kyats) or dollar (bad rate-converting). Bathroom is very small and always wet.

Review 37:The hotel itself is quite nice and clean and has a good swimmingpool. Rooms a bright with good aircondition (but small bathroom)

Review 38:There is exactly eine double bed in the superior room category. We did not get it although explicitely requested. Internet connection is/was horrible. But maybe that's thd case for all Bagan. :(

Review 39:Very friendly and supportive staff, great breakfast buffet, nice restaurant, all in all modern and enjoyable hotel.

Review 40:Staff really friendly. We´ve eaten in many places in Myanmar and the restaurant of the hotel is really good, and prices are very adjusted, non in the level you can think in a hotel of this category. Pool is simply perfect, and rooms very confortable and clean. Furthermore, we lost our backpack during a bicycle tour and staff of the hotel work a lot to answer everybody surround where we lost it, also with Police. Fortunately, found it!!!!. Amazing!

Review 41:downside - we booked in the hotel, a trip to mandalay by boat. We asked for the best one ... it was the worst trip we had in myanmar . Shwekeinnery river cruise, dont get in it. The engine broke and we had to hold around 2 hours in the middle of the river and do the rest of the trip without air-con

Review 42:Old bagan is more expensive than Nypyang or New Bagan, but "supposelly" near to temple site. However, temple site is GIGANTIC and far from any place, and you will need to rent a taxi or something to move from place to place (temple to temple), so it isnt worth it to pay more to stay in old bagan or wherever as at the end it will be the same money you spend.

Review 43:Hotel is so cute!! Cool pool (not so big as in the pics but cool anyway). Staff was really nice and helpfull. Would go back for sure.

Review 44:The room is too small, especially bathroom, in relation to the price. The water is OILY. Yes, you read it right, there is OIL in the water. You keep rubbing your face or your body with it and you will still find it slippery. There is no kettle for you to boil water like other hotels. Wifi was down 90% during the 3 days I was there.

Review 45:- slow if at all internet (like almost everywhere in bagan)

Review 46:- really friendly and helpfull staff - modern rooms - Pool Area - good variety and tasty breakfast

Review 47:A kettle and cups in the room would have been most welcome.

Review 48:Conveniently situated in Nuang U, swimming pools especially welcome after hot dusty sight seeing day.

Review 49:When we booked with Booking.com, use of one e-bike was included in the price. When we got there , the hotel refused to honour the use of the bike. This resulted in an additional $20 expence. If you do any booking with this (good) hotel make sure you factor in that they might not honour all aspects of the booking. This spoilt an otherwise good stay.

Review 50:Great pool after a hot deay exploring. Great breakfast

Review 51:The main temples are nearer to New Bagan, but if you rent an e-bike this shouldn't be a problem.

Review 52:Western like breakfast with even omelets. Very friendly staff. A great shop across the street, where you can even rent-bikes.

Review 53:We're travelling for 7 weeks and needed some clothes washed. I'd recommend getting your laundry done elsewhere as it's very expensive here.

Review 54:Great hotel in a good location. Slightly away from the main restaurant strip, but close enough to walk there for dinner. The room was smaller than some of the other rooms we've stayed in, but as we weren't in it long, it didn't really bother us. The staff made us feel very welcome and arranged a taxi to the harbour for our early morning boat on departure. The breakfast was one of the best we've had in Myanmar - don't miss out on the egg bar, where you can get your eggs cooked how you'd like.

Review 55:Very good breakfast. E-bikes available to move easily and fast to the temples. Even they provide you torch lights if you want to go to see the sunrise from one of the temples. Also, after a tiring day visiting temples, the pool is the best reward. As it is in whole Myanmar, the staff is very charming. They offer you free transfer from the airport.

Review 56:Very bad internet connection. I suggest to buy local sim and use your own local hotspot device. More better.

Review 57:Free breakfast, free pickup from hotel to bus station, nice pool.

Review 58:The wifi is a bit slow and week of connection.

Review 59:The room is prefect and clean, the location is ok, not far from the downtown. People is very friendly and helpful. Restaurants are near this hotel.

Review 60:Lovely hotel with amazing staff, nice pool, amazing brekfast buffet, a lot of e-bikes and perfect location because it is directly next to the restaurant road

Review 61:Too much perfume/mosquito spray odour was in the room when we first entered.

Review 62:E-bikes for reasonable price for rent. Near restaurant street. Swimming pool with happy hour to cool down.

Review 63:the wi-fi sometimes did not work properly.

Review 64:It's quite luxurious hotel with very affordable price, the beds are comfortable, the facilities are great, room and toilet are clean, though not really spacious, buffet breakfast are generous, location is quite near to the main attractions which is old Bagan where we can ride a bike there, and you get free electronic bike rental as a guest which is good.

Review 65:Policy not to give ebike on check out day. Seems a bit petty

Review 66:Close to restaurant street. 1 block walk. Friendly staff.Nice outdoor and pool areas. Good bfast

Review 67:Wifi was not stable. Pool closes at 9h30pm

Review 68:Excellent hotel, stuff always willing to help. They offer rental e-bikes, which makes easier to visit the hundreds of pagodas around. Food was excellent.

Review 69:Wifi was poor in the room. Flies all over the breakfast food.

Review 70:Quite literally the best hotel in town, an oasis of calm, lovely pool. Close to electric bike rental

Review 71:Small room and bathroom. Bored flies during breakfast. Public area not so clean.

Review 72:Location. Breakfast in rooftop. New hotel.to Rent e bike and to buy tickets refer to shop in front; friendly and cheap.

Review 73:The hotel staff are friendly and helpful. There's a nice swimming pool but I have no time for a swim. So disappointing! The room is clean and cosy. The restaurants are within walking distance.

Review 74:There is nötig much space to put things in or on and no hangers or much space to hange things at all.

Review 75:Nice pool! One E Bike was free of charge for booking with booking.com

Review 76:Wifi was impossible to get from the bedroom. We had to go to the reception everytime we needed it. Breakfast was OK, but we had better ones in other hotels in Burma. Not the hotel's fault but the swimming pool was always crowded with family people and all the couches around it were always taken by people who were not using them, as they were only staying in the water. It was a bit annoying for people who wanted to chill on these couches.

Review 77:Lovely hotel, the place is beautiful. Room is clean and comfortable. Staff is helpful. e-bikes were convenient to use. It is close to restaurants and travel agencies. Best mango juices I had there! Food at the restaurant was good.

Review 78:No dislikes.

Review 79:Relaxed place on the outskirts of town, free bikes available. Extremely friendly staff, food is okay but Myanmar is not food heaven for gourmands anyway. Recommended for the peace and quiet loving traveller.

Review 80:Wifi is a bit patchy, particularly when there are lots of users, but pretty normal for Myanmar. The bed is very, very hard (also pretty normal for Myanmar). All electricity is controlled by the room key so the fridge and air con will turn off when you leave the room - also air con tends to cut out if it is overloaded so nights can get hot if you're asleep when this happens! But really fairly minor upsets, overall a great place to stay.

Review 81:I've stayed at the Zfreeti several several times now and the service is always very good. The breakfast is fine and nice when it's on the roof (in season), and the omelette station a great option. Room service menu is a bit limited, but it is prompt and relatively tasty. The little restaurant/kiosk near the pool is lovely and has excellent curry! The wine is even pretty good. Front desk staff are always very friendly and welcoming, and helpful. The location is great, close enough to town but not too noisy, and an easy electric bike ride from a large proportion of the temples, bit of a hike to New Bagan, but Old Bagan no problem.

Review 82:This is a little tourist trap. Maybe I was unlucky going there in low season but the service&breakfast and facilities could be better for this price. I wouldn't stay here next time...

Review 83:The price was too high. We visited a three star hotel in old Bagan right on the river which was cheaper per night than here

Review 84:Pool, clean room, great showers, good staff.

Review 85:Hotel staf was just perfectly nice and helpful... starting from reception desk employees trough people working in the hotel restaurant and bar ending with the ladies cleaning rooms and hotel gardeners. I realy loved them all for their smile and kindness. Good localisation. Very nice interior design. After whole day of sightseeing a Zfeeti swimming pool brings a very nice relief.

Review 86:Unreliable staff. We had a tyre puncture on a scooter hired from reception in the middle of nowhere, called the hotel for help, after guaranteeing they'd send someone for help, no one showed up and we were left there. On the day of checkout we had to catch a bus out in the early hours of the morning. After reception guaranteed they had contacted the bus company and that the bus was coming to pick us up at 5 am, the bus didn't come. Staff were unhelpful about the situation and refused to admit any responsibility. They charged us extra for late checkout after causing us to miss the bus. Very poor customer service. Also, pool is murky and dirty.

Review 87:Room is fine I guess.

Review 88:Poor wifi in room. Had a bit of a bad stomach after having their restaurant food No lifts

Review 89:Great location, situation within 5 mins walk to nearby restaurants and shops. Great laundry service

Review 90:We arranged a tour to My Popa with the hotel; it wasn't really a problem for us only a funny experience, but apparently the taxi driver wasn't licensed so we had to wait for about an hour on the way for the police to go away and stop controlling licenses. So as an advice, they should arrange tours with licensed drivers :) Should consider the free bike for 24 hrs, meaning, from any time of the day, not only as a calendar day from morning to evening.

Review 91:Amazing breakfast and swimming pool. Free electric bike for one day. 24 hrs reception.

Review 92:A common problem in this part of the world: the shower was not properly separated. Only had a small step and the screen, not enough to prevent the entire bathroom flooding, which takes ages to dry and leads to mold growth.

Review 93:Pool, good rooms and attentive service. We also ended up liking the on-site restaurant, which provided surprisingly good food - and of course excellent breakfast. They have both bikes and E-Bikes for rent and are well positioned to explore Bagan.

Review 94:Staff was very helpful in all regards - in particular Myat Min. We took a night bus the day we checked out and were free to continue using the pool and facilities until our pick up, which was great.

Review 95:Their potential big advantage became disadvantage - we hired 4 electric bikes to ride around Bagan and 3 out of 4 got flat tyre. Another thing I didn't like that they demanded you to pay my bill on the moment of arrival, that always looks suspicious.

Review 96:Friendly staff, swimming pool, good location, many options for dining not far from the hotel

Review 97:Air-conditioning in room has a delay function of 5 to 10 minutes, which means you have to stay in a room of 38 degrees or more for some time before air-conditioning is functioning.

Review 98:Excellent location, nice swimming pool, friendly people

Review 99:Great location with lots of eating and drinking places 5 minutes walk away. Electric and normal bikes available from hotel and an ideal place to start exploring the temples and pagodas.

Review 100:This hotel is very well located in the centre of Nyaung U, close to Shwezigon Pagoda. The rooms and toilets were clean and well furnished. The staff was very helpful with arranging transportation, trips etc. The things we loved the most were: the swimming pool, the roof terrace where the breakfasts were served, the amazing food: especially the curries, however we also enjoyed breakfast buffet with plenty of things to choose from, nice drinks at the bar, and finally the wonderful electric bikes we used for sightseeing. We can recommend this hotel with the greatest pleasure.

Review 101:No wardrobe to unpack, very limited space. No safe box in the room. Poorly designed bathroom with awkward layout. WiFi was down for the whole stay(it worked fine in nearby restaurants). You have to pay CASH, no option to pay by credit card

Review 102:Friendly staff Can rent bikes at the hotel Swimming pool is a plus Decent breakfast Some restaurants within walking distance

Review 103:This was one of the nicest places that we stayed in Myanmar. The room was fantastic with a great shower and the hotel was within walking distance of good restaurants.

Review 104:Poor signal WiFi but it was expected.

Review 105:It was really amazing for the hotel to let the guests check in as early as 0630 am without extra cost. The staff were very attentive and response to our needs promptly.the location is convenient to travel around.

Review 106:I dont have any qualms about the place maybe bcoz we didnt stay long in the hotel. So far we are happy with the service. The staffs are helpful too.

Review 107:The room's big ang clean. Beddings clean and comfortable. Just the way I like it :)

Review 108:Wifi signal very weak in room but tolerable in lobby.

Review 109:Location is good with bike & taxi hire facilities immediately outside hotel. Nice , airy lobby area.

Review 110:The wifi was so so however it is the best we have found travelling round Myanmar, so no fault of the hotel.

Review 111:From arrival, the staff were kind and friendly and went out of their way to ensure we had a great stay at this beautiful hotel! The breakfast was amazing, the staff were super friendly and the hotel was beautiful!

Review 112:If you are looking for interaction with other young backpackers, here it will be more dificult. It works like a hotel.

Review 113:The bed is very good and the staff was very friendly and polite (above average).

Review 114:I did not like the exaggerated exchange rate between the dollar and the local currency. I think it was a very dad policy they have.

Review 115:the staff is extremely servable, kind and always willing to please you.

Review 116:Wifi, but this us no fault of the hotel. It would if been good to have free bikes, and the laundry was expensive.

Review 117:Great room, the staff were excellent through out the hotel. The good was much better than expected, and the location was good to see all of the temples not just old Bagan. Even had room service!

Review 118:Although we booked for double bed, we were given a twin bed instead and wasn't informed by the reception upon check-in.

Review 119:Really liked the hotel. The hotel is clean and the location is near to many eateries, merely 5 minutes walk. Just outside of the hotel you can rent your bicycle and e-bike. Nice small pool to chill out after a long day of visiting the temples and pagodas. Staff at the reception should be more proactive. We stayed on the 1st floor and the room was quite huge.Would stay here again! Highly recommended

Review 120:We were given a room on the ground ,floor next to the reception, although we had reserved our room eleven months before ,but after our complains they moved us to a better one on the first floor.

Review 121:very good location near shops and restaurants.Good breakfast and nice pool,

Review 122:I wish to relate an incident during check out where the reception staff accused us of swapping their in room slippers. As you may find out you have to leave your shoes outside during a temple visit. Since we didnt bring any slippers we used the hotel's. the slippers are the type where you would normally pay $2 for. He insists that we changed the slippers. It was the white slippers with blue bands. When he brought them from the room he showed us the difference. I was shocked to say the least. Its actually the same slippers but with a different brand. He insists that the hotel does not use this brand. I wonder why he would want to create a fuss over such a little difference. Its just a different brand over essentially a same rubber slipper. So I asked how do you want us to settle this since we do not have another pair of slipper of the same brand that he demanded. He said you have to pay $5. I paid him but what I am totally miffed about is he created a scene suggesting we removed the hotel's worthless rubber slippers. It was totally embarrasing and I would never step foot in this hotel again.

Review 123:I love Bagan and thats about all I like about this hotel.

Review 124:Drains were a bit smelly around the pool area and taxi drivers outside the hotel tried to charge an exorbitant rate.

Review 125:Pleasant hotel in good location with lots of restaurants nearby.

Review 126:Based on the price what we had paid, hotel standard is poor. The water in pool is way too cold to enjoy. Staffs are very unorganized. We did have to change our room as they couldn't give us the room in the first evening which we had booked. Second night they shall have changed our room and moved our luggages to the new room. Unfortunately, they were not organized enough and have spent the whole day to find our stuffs to bring to our room finally at 7pm. Breakfast is average, most of the staffs at the reception didn't really understand English well but they always answered with YES. Some of them are not friendly nor helpful. One can difinately find a better place to stay with this high price rate

Review 127:place is nice, the pool is beautiful

Review 128:1. Hotel staff did not behave in a way that made me feel they were particularl happy to be there, or that they worked for a three-star hotel, which is way too expensive but considering it's Myanmar so I can let it go. 2. Myanmar people do not accept U.S. dollar bills that are even a little bit scratched and, knowing that, they still gave me as I checked out a 20 bill as change that had a cut on it and it was refused all the way throughout Mandalay, my next city. "Just unload the bad bills onto the foreigner" I guess is their motto. 3. Laundry service said they could return my clothes by 9 pm next day. And twice I had to call them way past 9 to get my laundry back. 4. Woken up on two days by a strong sewage smell from the bathroom. I mean OMG. It gave me a headache! Never had this in my entire life and I have traveled in a lot of places. 5. When I checked out, an older French couple I had met somewhere in Bagan were before me. And when they were done the guy in charge said smilingly, "We hope you come back again." And when it was my turn, nothing. I mean I did not really need it, but okay, I won't come back again.

Review 129:Restaurant staff were really courteous. Breakfast and dinner food was great. And there was a pool.

Review 130:Rooms (standard &superior) smallish, Staff service partly soso, poor English, restaurant overpriced, especially drinks

Review 131:Pool area and rooftop restaurant is great , as well as location, village nearby

Review 132:1. gave us an occupied room. 2. changed us to a room with a broken door lock and did not intend to fix it. 3. put a pile of big tiles just in front of our door and we had to walk carefully to avoid the tiles.

Review 133:Staff was not as friendly as what we were used to elsewhere in Myanmar. The wifi was practically not working.

Review 134:Breakfast is served at a roof top terrace. If you go early, around 7am, you can see the balloons taking off. A truly unique experience!

Review 135:No safe or kettle in the room, limited space to unpack.

Review 136:Friendly staff and a nice small pool for relaxing. There are many reasonable local eateries within a five minute walk. Taxies and Horse Carts for hire right at the door.
