Reviews for Amazing Bagan Resort

Review 1:Location a bit tricky to get to, would be nice if they arranged pick-up, etc.

Review 2:Breakfast was superb, great selection of Asian & Western. Nice grounds. AWESOME E-Bikes. Nice spa massage, pool ok

Review 3:* Rooms on 3rd floor are really noisy, the hotel has a pigeon colony that make a hell of a noise on the metal roof. Thankfully the pigeons calm * Matresses are quite hard

Review 4:* Quiet location, beautiful swimming pool * Beautiful, large rooms

Review 5:Location is a slightly from the main attractions and food. Not walkable, but can be reached by a short cab ride.

Review 6:Great service staff. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The restaurant serves a decent breakfast buffet spread.

Review 7:The pool water could have been a bit cleaner. The massages are average but we could not find a single place in Myanmar with good ones, so these are rather in the higher range of quality...

Review 8:We stayed 5 nights in the villas. They were spacious and nice. The restaurant is nice and not too expensive for this standing of hotel with a very efficient service, with a good variety of dishes. It is a very quiet location, very convenient to go exploring the temples by bike or ebike. But outside of the "city center" so you need a bike (5/10mn) to go there, eg if you don't want to eat at the hotel. We really enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it.

Review 9:It is a bit further away from the town but with an e bike it is really to do (only 4 minutes to town and 15 minutes to the most popular pagodas). The bikes were a bit outdated but this every where in Myanmar. With an e bike (= a scooter instead of electric bycicle) you will beter off anyway because of the sandy roads in the erea of the pagodas

Review 10:Staff was really friendly and extreme service orientated, breakfast is really good, the rooms are very clean and pool was very chill. The cottages were nicer and more quiet compared to the other rooms.

Review 11:It gets a bit noisy sometimes at 1st floor. The pillows are a bit hard.

Review 12:Very helpful staff, we needed a dr.for my child and ine of the ladies was very proactive in hrlping us and doing following up. The facilities, with many green around us. Nice tamarind sweets they gave us every night!

Review 13:I can't praise this place enough. The location is ideal (and quiet at night, no dogs barking), the room, spa, restaurant all excellent. But above all the staff were amazing. They were always on hand to help (balloon ride, motorbike hire etc). This was the best hotel I've stayed in for a long while.

Review 14:The location is less convenient than some of the other hotels in Bagan, as it's close to the airport rather than to the temples. The hotel is a bit past its best, there are others in Bagan which are a bit newer and smarter.

Review 15:This is a perfectly nice hotel - large rooms, swimming pool, helpful staff. Good wifi. A decent option.

Review 16:Restaurant Very uncosy. Food basic. (A lot of good restaurants closeby (5 min bij ebike) Laundry service Very expensive we asked if they could arrange ballooning. Staff said they put us on waiting list for ballooning because iT was full. But when we asked iT ourselfs at the official office for ballooning ourselfs that wasnt true and we were able to arrange ballooning ourselfs. If we would have waited on the so called waiting list from the hotel we wouldnt have had the great ballooning experience!

Review 17:Beautifull hotel. Clean Large rooms. Great swimmingpool! Good ebikes rentable at hotel Good WiFi

Review 18:We took a villa. The AC did not cool the room sufficiently. The water was only lukewarm, not hot enough. SMOKING was allowed in the breakfast area - REALLY DISGUSTING for people who don,t smoke

Review 19:responsiveness

Review 20:Because you are a little out of Nyaung- U the hotel charges a little much by way of premium for taxis or pony carts when it orders them . Best to get a taxi driver card on arrival and have them call your driver .

Review 21:The staff were excellent - friendly and helpful . The room was comfortable perhaps a little dated. The restaurant was very good both for breakfast and , perhaps surprisingly, for good food , soups and traditional meals at dinner

Review 22:Bombing the mosquitos while you're at the pool! Using what smelled like diesel. Sitting by the pool became impossible, it was like being in a bush fire. It only happened one night that I'm aware of, but some warning would have been good.

Review 23:Nice and quiet, staff would fall over backwards to help you. Got us fabulous electric scooters - much better than everyone else seemed to be getting around on.

Review 24:Shower had no water pressure, and the location was quite a long way from Old Bagan, or other townships. Not a lot of options for dinner aside from the hotel restaurant.

Review 25:Pool area and beauty spa facilities are great.

Review 26:The staff was sometimes too pushy... They always pushed and told us what we can purchase from the hotel. In my point of view it was slightly too much...

Review 27:The breakfast and food in generalist not the quality expected it was very much sub standard. The price outweighs the value also the rooms are old and require refurbishment. We overpaid on this hotel

Review 28:Being close to the golf course is a plus

Review 29:The facilities are a little dated but in general the charm of the resort beats that fact.

Review 30:Location is great, just get the e-bike (negotiate with the desk) and explore Bagan. Nyaung-U is really the centre of Bagan so it's really close yet far from everything so at night it's completely quite. Amazing pool, great staff. Fantastic breakfast selection. For this price - just amazing.

Review 31:poor Wifi at my room location, although wifi was good at reception

Review 32:Room near the pool has a nice look and feel Bagan style Excellent Staff service - very helpful and accomodating

Review 33:Nothing really, was very happy with our stay!

Review 34:Very helpful and polite staff, good location - very close to the main street for lunch and dinner, and fairly close to the pagodas.

Review 35:The bathrooms are the only negative aspect of this great hotel! They should be renewed and they should fix the water pressure.

Review 36:Great Rooms!!! Great Staff!!! Great Breakfast!!! Great Hotel!!!

Review 37:I've been to Bagan to visit temples and be in touch with locals, but it seems to be on holidays on my home town. Hotel was Full of europeans. In fact everywhere I was .If I go to Myanmar again I won't go in August.

Review 38:The staff

Review 39:This is a beautiful resort outside Bagan town near the gulf club. I stayed in a comfortable bungalow in a huge garden full of trees and flowers. It was very quiet, the room nice and the beds very good. Also the bathroom is good and the hot water works. The breakfast buffet is very generous for Myanmar standards. The staff is very friendly and polite. Only the Wifi does not work as usual. But I can recommend this hotel wholeheartedly.

Review 40:As Location is a bit outside, the free bikes could be in better condition.

Review 41:Very nice stay, good pool area and great breakfast; not too far from Airport/town

Review 42:Unfortunately I was ill during my stay but the staff went all put to help me, including accompanying me to hospital and interpreting for me, preparing food to suit my restricted medical diet and checking on my needs regularly. All with warmth and great kindness and concern.

Review 43:We request a double bed but they didn't fulfill our request, but they moved the twin beds together on our request. So positive at the end.

Review 44:Location is OK to visit all Bagan area. The food at the restaurant was great, although a bit expensive. Staff was kind and helpful.

Review 45:A better choice of pillows would be good.

Review 46:The Resort is not a swish 5 star European style place, but it has an unpretentious charm about it that is perfectly suited to the general environs of Bagan. The staff are very helpful and friendly, and happy to help wherever and whenever possible. I love the place, but if you're uptight then I doubt the place is for you.

Review 47:Wifi signal was not very strong but I believe that was a common thing in the area.

Review 48:This place is really amazing! The whole place is beautiful. Extremely helpful and friendly staff. Breakfast was delicious and it had a great variety of food. We loved everything about this place!

Review 49:Rat in room that woke us up at 2:30 in the morning. After pleading with staff, finally changed our room. But we lost much sleep, and staff only gave partial refund on drinks, and not on room (after we raised the issue).

Review 50:Beautiful resort in need of updates. Lovely ground. Nice staff. Breakfast was good. Pool nice but a bit full of bugs.

Review 51:The staff and the breakfast. We arrived at 4am and they gave us a coffee and call for us to get an ebike. Our room was ready at 9am. The breakfast is excellent

Review 52:Nothing to dislike about this hotel!

Review 53:This hotel takes Burmese hospitality to another level! I have not seen a more hospitable, warm, always smiling, efficient and concerned staff, and I travel a lot. They even gave us a temporary room to freshen up in as we reached the hotel at 5 am, way before their check-in time. They arranged bus tickets, e-bikes and so many other things efficiently and with a smile. Their service blew us away. Keep it up!

Review 54:bit out of area from nearby towns but nothing further than a 10 min short bike ride away, the free bikes were a bit shoddy and was much better on the e bikes.

Review 55:Really luxurious and posh place in Bagan with really caring staff and amazing breakfast. The rooms were really spacious and pool was a nice touch.

Review 56:nothing

Review 57:Excellent staff, tasty breakfast, professional massage Although located a few kilometres form the city centre it doesn't matter at all - you will any way have to rent an e-bike for 5 USD or car with a driver to see all you need to see

Review 58:We stayed in a suite, they should put transparent white curtains to keep privacy and at the same time we don't need to draw the curtains to make the room dark during the daytime.

Review 59:The hotel ground is beautiful with a nice and relaxing swimming pool. The staff are friendly and helpful. The spa is a must try one. We made use of the e-bike and bicycle offered by the hotel to visit all the sight seeing spots, but they need to check the bikes everyday. But the hotel is a bit away from the Old Bagan, we have no choice but eat in the hotel in the evenings. Luckily, the food are not bad at all.

Review 60:Too overpriced for what it is terrible "free" bikes the worst "wifi" - much better at other hotels AC is too small for the size of the room, so the rooms are always hotter than they should be.

Review 61:Nice staff Big Rooms Fairly Clean

Review 62:1) poor communication amongst the staff. They have a book where the staff write notes for the next shift but things never seemed to get communicated. I requested an early morning taxi with 1 staff member and when I went to confirm the next day, it never got booked and it wasn't written in the 'book'. I ended up booking a 5th night at the hotel. Told the front desk and asked if I could just stay in the same room and she said yes. Later that evening another staff member asks when I'm checking out the next day and if I need a wake up call. Then on my last day, the front desk manager tells me at 3pm that since I booked 5 nights, I'm entitled to a free massage and a free dinner. I was like...when were you planning to tell me this so I could actually take advantage of this? 2) The concept of "5 star" hospitality is something that the Burmese are slowly getting their grasp around. The staff members are very nice but act in ways that in any other developed country would be considered inappropriate. I walked by one staff member on my way back to my room who was throwing up over the rail into the bushes. Most of the time, you couldn't find a staff member at the pool so you could order a drink or food. You had to walk to the lobby and ask them to find a waiter even though the pool was crowded with guests. It's one of the hottest months and they had 1 pool umbrella. They eventually was able to get another. 3) I wouldn't recommend booking e-bikes through the hotel. Every e-bike I got had some sort of problem with it (ran out of electricity, pedal missing, headlight barely worked). They charge the same price as other companies in town that have newer bikes.

Review 63:1) hotel location. It's secluded from the main road but it's a resort..so it was nice to be away from the hustle and bustle of bagan. Biking distance to 'restaurant row' so you had a range of good food options and not stuck to the hotel restaurant (which was never busy) 2) breakfast option was expansive for Myanmar. After traveling around Myanmar, their breakfast was one of the best. 3) wifi was strong. never had any issues 4) power went out 2x but quickly got back on 5) AC worked well (after biking/walking around 104 degree weather, it was heavenly) 5) for the price I paid ($55/night) this was the best bang for the buck for any hotel I stayed in Myanmar, granted this is off peak prices.

Review 64:bit off the road, which can be an advantage. But it takes you a bit longer to the main road.

Review 65:very good and trained staff, that gives you the feeling, your are something special!

Review 66:- No lift, but it was not a big problem.

Review 67:- Tranquil location - Free bicycle rental (But if you wanna travel to old bagan, renting e-bike with extra fee is a much better option) - Variety of breakfast - spacious room

Review 68:I suggest that they slash off the price for e-bike rental. cost me $16 for 1 e-bike for a seating of 2 persons because they charge it "per person". inconvenient and expensive if your partner doesn't know how to ride a bike since $16 can already get you 2 ebikes.

Review 69:Comfortable Oasis in Bagan where you can relax after the whole day tours.

Review 70:Nothing. Everything was excellent. I love everything of it.

Review 71:The staff is super attentive. It was my friend's birthday and they help organize the best surprise for her. She was super happy and touched. And when we got back from sightseeing in the morning, they notice we didn't have breakfast and called our room. They held the breakfast 20 mins longer just for us.

Review 72:Nothing

Review 73:I happened to be very ill when I arrived at the hotel and the staff did everything in their power to help. They managed to get me a good Dr who came to see me in the room and the staff provide me with everything I needed, plus the kindness and moral support.

Review 74:The hotel is located a bit remotely from the old and new Bagan but it doesn't really matter as there is not much to do in the "city" anyway. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the breakfast is absolutely amazing: buffet with a great selection of international and local food. The swimming pool is accessible from 7am to 10pm so you can enjoy after a day of visit. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. I will definitely go there again.

Review 75:The rooms need updating. The bathrooms are shabby. The shampoo smells funny. The beds are mediocre at best. The indoor dining room was loud with the staff being noisy and cafe like. Lacked ambience. The courtyard was wonderful

Review 76:The pool was excellent after a long day out in the heat. The breakfast was excellent .

Review 77:Although breakfast was good would recommend you eat elswhere for your other meals. Portions are small and tasteless - very disapointing. Bathrooms are very tired. Pigeons area problem nesting in the roof and making a lot of noise and mess.

Review 78:Location - very beautiful

Review 79:We had no bad experience. The location was away from shops and restaurants, but we enjoyed the peace and quiet.

Review 80:The resort atmosphere was a welcome respite to a day out in Bagan. Much as we enjoyed touring the pagodas, the horse carts etc, it was great to come back to the resort. The pool was great! And the wonderful staff and service. The tree-lined avenue leading to the resort was beautiful, perfect for cycling.

Review 81:Evening meal options a bit limited and the town is a good 20 mins walk so you need to hire a bike or get a taxi. Access road to the town is dark so some people may not like to walk/cycle. This didn't put us off and we borrowed lights from Reception.

Review 82:The staff at the resort are friendly, polite and helpful. Quick and easy check in process and we were lucky to be allowed a late check out. Villas were nice and there is free wifi. Pool is a god send, very welcome after a dusty, hot and early start at the temples. Use of free bikes and there is a great breakfast selection.

Review 83:Main hotel area is pretty tired looking and could do with more cleaning overall. Staff also seem unmotivated but generally friendly. Overall, management could be improved.

Review 84:Great pool area, great night sleep with gentle warbling of pigeons only. Nice jungle views from all the windows as far as we can tell. Free bikes (sufficient to get you down the long country road into the town, but pretty rubbish for longer distances) and cheap E-bikes for rent.

Review 85:Unfortunately a few issues with service and communication with the staff at the resort, despite best intentions. One night at the restaurant because there was a large group of 20 people having a meeting there was no attention paid to any other guests - and there were only 4 of us there. I had to go inside to ask for a menu and there were 5 staff inside just talking amongst themselves...after waiting 15 mins for someone to come over and take my order I decided to give it a miss and ended up eating at a great Indian restaurant on restaurant row in town. I requested an English speaking day tour through the reception staff and initially I was sent someone from the day spa to speak to me. It was unfortunately all very confusing but in the end we did get a tour guide booked for the following day, but sorry to say the communication from the guide was not so great. This hotel has a lot of potential but service and communication skills can be improved particularly at reception where most guests go for help. Other than this the room was great and I enjoyed the breakfast

Review 86:The bungalow suites are spacious and very comfortable Nice grounds

Review 87:The location is a bit remote but we used the bikes daily to go around. (free of charge)

Review 88:Beautiful place with very nice staff. We travelled with our one year old daughter and the staff loved her. They treated her like a queen and everybody wanted to play with her. Swimming pool is well maintained and a perfect spot to relax after visiting the temples. Our bungalow room was clean, spacious and they also provided a baby bed.

Review 89:- Not closest to town, need to get through some dark country road so usually need taxi to get anywhere at night. During the day can use the free bike the hotel provides - Room can be cleaner given the prices, particularly the bathroom wasn't very clean

Review 90:- Very pretty resort near a golf course (might be the same company) - Great choices at breakfast

Review 91:The hotel grounds, pool, good wifi, good breakfast selection, spacious room, free bicycles, available ebikes on site for reasonable price, arranging of transpo

Review 92:Although the hotel was a bit far from Nuang U, there were free bicycles available. Also e-bikes for rent at a very low rate. Staff wonderful. Nice breakfasts. Would return without question.

Review 93:If there is one thing that could be improved, it is the quality of the food. The breakfast buffet is terrific but, in general, the food in the restaurant was not up to par with the rest of the resort.

Review 94:The pool is excellent with multiple areas for lounging about.

Review 95:2km walk to restaurants in town bathroom would benefit from renovation taxi prices back from town at night varied between 3USD and 10USD, you're at the mercy of the taxi driver (not a problem of the hotel but a problem that results from the remote location)

Review 96:wonderful breakfast buffet great facilities quiet and relaxing atmosphere no noise from the street at night nice and large rooms very good value for money great staff helping with everything hotel has complimentary bicycles and low cost e-bikes

Review 97:The location is not good, pretty far from anything. The bikes are in very bad condition. The service is inequal.

Review 98:The bedroom spacious, the swimming pool, the breakfast

Review 99:A somewhat isolated location (For Booking: in contradicion of what was mentioned in my confirmation the breakfast was included. This seems to be the general standard in Myanmar)

Review 100:- Friendly and helpful staff. When I had a problem with the E Bike I rented they ensured I got a full refund. - One complimentary dinner and massage (because I stayed more than 5 nights) - Excellent buffet breakfast - Free, although rickety, bicycles

Review 101:Location (far from everything $5 to go to the closest city restaurant) Not enough electric bikes Disorganised staff/management with a very pool level of English Pool not always clean Room on ground floor have the swimming pool machinery next to their doors

Review 102:Large swimming pool Friendly staff

Review 103:Bungalow rooms set around the pool are pleasant and location is quiet for a good night's sleep. Pool is a good size and open 7am-10pm. The breakfast buffet is pretty extensive but Dinner was not as good and some of the items on the menu literally are too good to be true (eg don't bother trying to order port!). Walking to Nyaungshwe takes about 20 mins down a quiet road for a wider range of dinner options. the location of the hotel is peaceful but set a little bit away from the main Bagan attractions so you need to factor in an extra 30 mins or so to get to Old Bagan and surrounds.

Review 104:The location, the pool and the garden were so beautiful, the staff welcoming and friendly, great service, good wifi, free bicycles and close to Nuang u where you can find great restaurant. The hotel restaurant is not bad either. Loved my stay here and would come back anytime

Review 105:None.

Review 106:Great location - near to bus station, easy access to Old Bagan Amazing service from staff - provided excellent service and attended to all our needs Free rent of bikes, and easy rental of e-bikes to get around Old Bagan and New Bagan Great facilities including nice swimming pool

Review 107:Suite had no view. Wifi was slow. Though the restaurant had a nice atmosphere the food was only average.

Review 108:The corner bengalow suite was spacious and well designed. Good breakfast Pleasant pool area. Friendly staff.

Review 109:Bikes are for free but not useable / broken. Assume they want to rent out their E-bikes. A bit disappointing for a hotel in this price range. We had to go downtown to rent mountain bikes.

Review 110:Very good breakfast buffet. Location a bit out of town but very quiet. Nice pool, clean rooms.

Review 111:Bathrooms need updating, and we think it's time they invested in New bike's even if they are free.

Review 112:Food in the restaurant was good including an excellent breakfast, nice big comfortable rooms but the bathrooms are a bit dated. Isolated location, nice and quite with free bicycles and cheap e-bikes. Staff as always in Myanmar very friendly.

Review 113:It is a little secluded and having to get a taxi in to pick you up to town cost 5USD. That we felt was a ripoff, so we walked out instead, which took us about 20mins. The pathway out was very shaded so it was a cool morning walk.

Review 114:The staff were friendly, facilities were pretty decent, rooms were very big, breakfast was quite alright. Just a little hiccup that at times, the power went out, but I guess it went out throughout Bagan. I would recommend this hotel.

Review 115:It is a little bit expensive and a little bit far away, but I would definitely recommend this place.

Review 116:They do have wifi, even in the pool! And breakfasts and dinners where really good. Also, really good installations! Very happy about the place!

Review 117:Plenty of greens and is comfortable for staying especially after the hot-day travelling around the historical sites in Bagan. And So wonderful and amazing.. playing golf among the pagodas.

Review 118:Food in restaurant (apart from breakfast) was not up to the standard of the rest of the hotel. Service was excellent but cooking could be improved.

Review 119:Location; Helpful staff; Room size; Swimming pool; Breakfast.

Review 120:We had a fantastic stay here. We stayed in a cottage suite and loved having the pool on our doorstep. Buffet breakfast was varied with good pancakes in particular! We hired e-bikes to go see the temples and they were a lot of fun (be careful on soft terrain though)! Staff we're very friendly and the little touches of tamarind sweets and mosquito spray were very much much appreciated. Definitely recommend!

Review 121:Breakfast isn't really amazing. The position: ABR is a little out of Nyaung U but not that bad if you take the bike.

Review 122:The staff was very helpful and polite. Rooms were very clean. Free bikes. I had my birthday during the stay and the staff cheered me with a cake and balloons.

Review 123:Food served could be tastier

Review 124:Staff were very helpful, instead of the electric bikes available for hire at the hotel, we wanted to rent a bigger electric bike which rides 2 and the staff were accommodating enough to call a 3rd party shop and made arrangements for our request. Room was spacious and clean.

Review 125:Cocktailbar was kind of a joke. But staff was very friendly.

Review 126:Free bike rental, but be aware of biking in the dark, there is no light on it. Wifi was strong

Review 127:Too far from Old and New Bagan....good half hour by bike. Not advisable if the heat is too intense. The room air-conditioning units did not work well and did not cool the rooms sufficiently.

Review 128:Friendly, helpful staff. Nice pool but the pool water was too hot to use.

Review 129:It's a bit far from restaurants and the main temples, but the road there is lovely and it's close to the airport. The staff's English was sometimes difficult to understand.

Review 130:Bikes for free. Nice garden.

Review 131:Wifi didn't work so well.

Review 132:Great value for the money. Good location.

Review 133:Good service, nice isolated location.

Review 134:Food

Review 135:Food was poor quality and issues in communication . Good location.

Review 136:Rooms a bit damp.

Review 137:Swimming pool, and the grounds of the hotel. Relaxing afternoons after busy visit to the temples.
