Reviews for Hostel Old Town Kotor
Review 1:Be warned that there's no lift. And it's in the old town so taxi can't come in, and if you're dragging your luggage it's stony road.
Review 2:There's a kitchen and shower right in your dorm. They offer stay 5 nights pay for 3; but for me I only needed 1.
Review 3:The hostel was so dirty entirely. I tried not to touch the pillow and blankets. Bunks were really uncomfortable. The sink in the reception was full of flies. Our room smelled bad.
Review 4:The staff was so nice. Dinner and breakfast for 3 euros was really good and delicious.
Review 5:A little noisy at night.
Review 6:Really nice layout, with small communal area and kitchen for each group of rooms. The private room we stayed in was really comfortable, and had a nice ambience.
Review 7:our room had very thin walls so it was sometimes a little bit noisy
Review 8:very friendly staff, great late night program, good dinner, clean, good wifi, a kitchen to prepare your own food, nice people, great location in the old town
Review 9:I m sorry to say it but first night i came too early and i asked the guy who work in hostel during the night period, i could pay exstrafor staying early, but he said come tommorow, he made a girl got out a city where i havent found before..
Review 10:i liked the hostel where found historical old city center, you can find it easily. The other important thing, whole details, and design perfect, it is the best hostel i have ever seen
Review 11:- here was no kettle in room :( - the cold floor. small rugs near beds would be good
Review 12:- old town! - nice people, always ready to help, thank u all - there is a place waiting to check-in or check-out - there is a kitchen
Review 13:The staff is almost only men, the furniture is old, the sockets are not working. Sleep and rest impossible, day or night, a loud noise until 3 am from the street of cafes and music. Some sleep two on the bed, as the lead sovershenno strangers in the night in the bathroom. Air conditioning not working, dirty linen, damp and gray, Wi Fi weak, only at registration, only cash, credit cards are strictly not accepted, rooms for Luggage no.dirty shared kitchen in the corner there is no kettle, no one cooks
Review 14:located in the old town
Review 15:Wifi was very marginal in the room.
Review 16:Convenient location inside the old town, and really seemed like a great social atmosphere (though unfortunately due to a really early flight the next morning I wasn't able to take much advantage of that).
Review 17:The montenegro tour advertised is overpriced. The thing is that the second half of the tour is worthless; first part, when you go to the mountains (national park, mausoleum) is really beautiful.
Review 18:Very friendly staff, nice common area, clean. Well situated.
Review 19:Sadly the drainage in the top study is asphixiating and hopefully will be fixed, and the beds rather narrow.
Review 20:Warm super welcome, great people, beautiful old buildings, almost fantastically converted. Great atmosphere and fittings in general. Worth going and staying for the experience is super.
Review 21:The mosquitoes, it might help to place a few anti mosquitoes thingy in the room.
Review 22:I like building, the central location, the staff and the good atmosphere. It is run 100% by Montenegrin which is a plus as they can provide insight advices. The staff are cheerful and organized various events to increase interaction and bonding. In the room there is even a kitchenette, very convenient. Another plus is the possibility to sign up for a tour, no need to look further as in September there is no further to look at.
Review 23:The staff are friendly and like to make sure you're well looked after. One of most fun hostels I've stayed at. Great place to meet fellow travellers.
Review 24:For my very personal feeling I think this hostel might have too many people. Every time when I went to reception I always saw people there and I only have seconds to ask a question. But maybe some people love it. Kitchen is in the dorm room (suite). The intention is good. But if you want to rest and someone is cooking, it will conflict. A little expensive. When in summer peak season it will cost more than 20 Euro per bed.
Review 25:It is a quite big hostel, which have two building and several floors in each building. Location good. No big noise will be a big plus (other hostels in old town will have large street noise). They offer two transfer (to Mostar and Tirana) and three tour, which are all classic. But the tour will be available once over 4 people so you can mail to ask first.
Review 26:Location is great. Wifi is awesome. Staff is friendly. Hostel is beautiful! Felt like I was staying in a castle. Loved the two hangout rooms- one for relaxing, one for partying.
Review 27:Can get a little busy in reception at checking in time but this wasn't too much of an issue.
Review 28:Beautiful hostel located in a perfect location in Kotor's beautiful old town. Room was really lovely and staff were helpful and friendly. Would recommend to anyone visiting Kotor.
Review 29:The mattress was uncomfortable.a bit painful to sleep on it.We booked 2 bed.it was both uncomfortable.
Review 30:So helpful stuffs.room was big and queit. Location was really good.cool place
Review 31:Bathroom got a bit dirty. Air conditioning in my dorm wasn't working so the windows were open which meant biting insects came in. The first night, the reception turned into a nightclub style thing and it felt intimidating to go in, plus there were a lot of very drunk people in and around reception falling over and even peeing in the street outside the hostel. To be fair, this wasn't happening the second night I was there so may have been down to a few particular people.
Review 32:Really good location in the old town and close to everything. My dorm had a bathroom and kitchenette inside. Lots going on and all sorts of trips and transfers organised. I did the Montenegro tour and it was fantastic.
Review 33:the bed creaked out of control!
Review 34:i loved everything about this hostel! the staff is wonderful (esp vlado!), i loved the set up of our dorm room with a kitchen, table, and very spacious bathroom, i loved that it was in a historical extremely old building, location is perfect and next to the oldest fish restaurant in kotor. there's really nothing to complain about. loved the hostel, loved kotor!
Review 35:Hostel can be good but we dont know because we stayed another house, not hostel. Owner of house is really rude and wiseacre. Sheet wasnt clean so I told her. She was angry and shouted me. She told me ''I shaked off sheet and is enough!'' But I think it isnt enough. Because there are many many hair on the sheet. Really unclean and no smiling face.
Review 36:Only location is good.
Review 37:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The common room areas were great. It catered for everyone's needs, if you wanted to chill out there was a lovely atmospheric room for that and if you wanted to party there was a different room for that. Rooms were great: clean, tidy and well presented. Location was fab!
Review 38:We chose this hostel for the fact that they were providing a transfer service from Tirana to Kotor by bus. The problem is that the staff were not confirming the bus until the last days, so we had to search for other options. Luckily another hostel in the centre of the town perfectly provided the service, without any deal, but Hostel Old Town was not trustable for this. When we arrived we also didn't like the attitude of the staff: they were acting like the cool guys of the town, without in my opinion respect. They should understand that we are clients and we deserve to be respected, not as their buddies.
Review 39:Position
Review 40:We chose this hostel for the fact that they were providing a transport service from Tirana (albania) to kotor. They let us wait until the last days to confirm the service, so we have been never secure of it. We decided to contact another hostel in the centre of kotor, which gave us a perfect transport service. Of course we were quite disappointed with old town kotor. When we arrived there the staff was overacting, doing bothering jokes. The room was very little and unconfortable. I would never recommend this place to anyone, there are much better hostels for me in kotor, providing professional services. In old town kotor it looked like we were in a party club more than a hostel.
Review 41:Position in the old town.
Review 42:Would be useful to get better directions as it's hard to find. Also directions for free parking when requested as this is not near the hostel.
Review 43:Great staff and atmosphere. Lots of activities but also a chill out area. Very sociable hostel.
Review 44:WIFI was atrocious. Basically, didn't work the whole time I was there or was so slow there was no point trying to use the internet.
Review 45:Great old building with a lot of charm and character. Perfect location in the old town.
Review 46:Staff member made sexually suggestive comments that made me uncomfortable. They were also not on time for opening reception at 8 when lots of us were waiting to check out.
Review 47:Location in the old town is great and the building is rather cool and unique. The kitchen facilities are good with lots of fridge space and oven, microwave, kettle. Loved that the bottom bunk had curtains so you could close off from everyone else! A nice touch.
Review 48:Quite noisy in the nights (at least if the room is facing the street or stairs), but earplugs helped a lot.
Review 49:Impressive old building, relaxed atmosphere. They also organize transport to Albania (Tirana and Shkoder) for 25-30€.
Review 50:Actually, it was not a room in the old palace we have booked but an apartment owned by friends of the hostel.it seemed like the hostel was over booked. The apartment was nice but It was not the room we booked on Internet. We booked our room accorded to the nice description we read on guide and online. Everything was unclear. Nobody forgave for that.
Review 51:The apartment was nice and well equipped.
Review 52:Beds and pillow were not comfy. WiFi never worked in room (but did in the chillout room).
Review 53:Amazing staff-very helpful! Really funky decor. Lots of fun atmosphere, but a super comfy/quiet chillout room, too. Ensuite was cleaned every day. Little curtains on bottom bunks for privacy. Fantastic location. Fun tours and pub crawls. Greatttt AC!!
Review 54:Wifi stopped working over night. Had to carry bags up a lot of stairs. They also took our passports and kept them at check in without telling us. When we questioned this they told us it was because we hadn't paid, but we had. We were leaving early the next morning and if we hadn't noticed in time we would have left without the passports. Also they say free parking nearby but it is very hard to find any.
Review 55:Very good facilities, kitchen in the room. Pub crawl was so much fun, they set up beer pong and encourage a social environment. Excellent location
Review 56:Excellent location; incredible old house and well decorated; they have two common rooms - one a bit quieter; staff are super friendly and they organise plenty of tours. I'd definitely stay here again.
Review 57:The location is perfect Staff is attentive and friendly, they ensure the comfort of all people in the comununes rooms advising you respectfully of limits and advatages of the spaces. They organize daily events with good food, good gathering activities, and good music! the price is reasonable Transfers to close attractions have competitive prices. Building is beautiful, enables you to feel the old Kotor in a very authentic way.
Review 58:it was a bit costly for what it was,the shower kept leaking over the floor and the room didn't smell that great....
Review 59:Easy access to old town and the rest of the city, friendly and helpful staff.
Review 60:Really great, friendly staff, very sociable hostel and a good value dinner available every evening. We had a great stay and would highly recommend this place.
Review 61:nothing
Review 62:Mickey and his family really know what hospitality is, They welcomed me into their home as I was one of them. Mickey is always in for a good conversation and knows everything about the city, so he can point out all the good places to eat and to drink. At the end of my stay he drove me to the bus station so I could catch my next bus . P.S. Mickey's omelet is a must for every person visiting Sarajevo! ;)
Review 63:Maybe the rooms are not so clean and the hostel is too noisy during the night.
Review 64:The hostel is great, a renewed historical building in the center of Kotor. The rooms are big and comfortable, maybe not so clean, but no problems. The main goal of the hostel is the staff: they organize tours, dinners (we had a bbq on the top of the hill with a fabulous panorama on the bay). Thanks to Nikola we had realized our dream to get to the North having rafting and to go to Sarajevo. We will be always grateful to him! .
Review 65:One of the best hostels during the trip. Excellent location. Nice and helpful staff. Comfy beds and nice decorated rooms (amazed by the plugs inside your locker) The hostel offers lots of tours and activities for visitors. Highly recommended!
Review 66:Very friendly staff. Beautiful location and set up. I felt secure and well looked after from the check-in. I had a great time on the pub crawl even though it's usually not my thing. It seemed everyone wanted to stay longer, including myself.
Review 67:Wifi on my floor was slow, but in other areas it was great.
Review 68:Staff were very helpful and friendly. Air conditioning!!! Great common rooms and had the dinner one night which is a good deal.
Review 69:Everything was just amazing!!!
Review 70:I loved everything! Great personel, great hostel. Have just the best memories from there and wish to come back :) you are amazing!!!
Review 71:Maybe the best hostel I have ever stayed in! The hostel is in the middle of the old town and located in an old building. The decor of the room was really cool and the room was clean as well. The hostel guys were really funny and made us feel like home. Every evening a cheap dinner is served in the hostel so we had dinner together with other guests and went for a pub crawl after that. We really enjoyed our stay!
Review 72:Wifi did not work properly in our room; if you travel by car it is better to find accommodation outside the old town or in the village next to kotor
Review 73:very good location in the old town, nice and helpful staff, room was clean and ok
Review 74:No curtains on the main window that meant little or no privacy. It is a difficult one as the stone feature wall is lovely but a small blind or external shutters are required.
Review 75:The room was beautiful and right in the Old Town. WiFi was really good. Host were really knowledgeable and told me some great places to visit.
Review 76:Great hostel in a great location and the staff will do everything they can to look after you/get you what you need. Highly recommend! Dinner pretty good too.
Review 77:Common dinner is not really worth it, if you're low on cash - just join the part after eating to party
Review 78:Every evening there are some activities for all the people from the hostel and sometimes strangers as well. Nice (a bit loud for some people) music supports those evenings in the lobby. Rooms are fine, kitchen in every appartment as well.
Review 79:Party in the reception on arrival was a bit shocking, personal at the reception very informal and over the moon, many staff (or not ???) at the entry
Review 80:perfectly located and fully equipped, helpful with contacting kayak rental, room absolutely okay and rather quiet
Review 81:Amazing staff and atmospere. Great location. In the middle of everything. Great BBQ and parties. Dorms separated from the lobby so good also for those who wants to sleep at night instead of partying.
Review 82:Bring earplugs: it is a bit noisy.
Review 83:Very friendly and helpful staff Great tours and transfers organised by the hostel Great kitchen facilities Comfy beds, with nightlight and plug next to the bed.
Review 84:for ourselves there was a bit too much of a "hostel spirit", including noisy discussions under our windows until around midnight
Review 85:the hostel is located in a quiet corner of the old town, in a nice historic building (done respecting its history). we stayed in a double room with a shared bathroom and were pleasantly surprised that we had to share it (and a small kitchen corner) only with 2 other double rooms.
Review 86:Lot of stairs to get to the apartment which is on the top floor.
Review 87:The displayed art/antiques along the stairs. The great Montenegro tour organized by the hostel.
Review 88:Internet wasn't very reliable. Signal would drop constantly and the speed wasn't good. Wi-fi on the common area was better
Review 89:Super cool staff. Daniel and the others are very outgoing and helpful. Real buddies.
Review 90:Seriously the best hostel in Europe. Not just the facilities it's more. The staff are friggin awesome!! As soon as you walk in the door you know you are in the right place. Great Montenegro tour was also awesome. Value for money and then some. Nikola, Daniel, Slavko and Co. ...you guys rock!!!!
Review 91:We stayed in a double room with a shared bathroom and it was brilliant. The bed was comfortable and they had great facilities with plenty of hot water and fast wifi.
Review 92:Historic Building, not as noisy as we expected but did take ear plugs, private rooms great for more mature guests, supplies of coffee andtea! We booked tour and Tirana transfers - staff were uber helpful
Review 93:was all good!.
Review 94:The staff goes out of their way to make all guests happy with their requests. The place is very nice for a hostel with nice clever decor
Review 95:No bathroom or kitchen sink plugs available. Slightly overpowering bathroom deodoriser.
Review 96:Friendly staff, €5 dinners available. Rooms with heaps of atmosphere, I felt like it was Goldilocks wi three cute beds in our room in the 13th century building wi 21st century mod cons.
Review 97:Staff was amazingly friendly and they organize fun activities each night. Movie nights, beer pong nights etc. Hostel was perfectly clean and there were many old items for decoration. We stayed at the roof top and it has very romantic decoration. If anyone left a bad review here do not trust them. Believe me! It was absolutely perfect. Thank you for all the staff and their friendship.
Review 98:It felt commercialized when the staff's friendliness feels scripted. Smiling without moving your muscles...the assasin kind :) anyway, its a business and its their to sustain hyper energy day and night to pump up the hostel crowd to party. Must be tough. I knew its a party hostel so its of course a bit noisy. I did my own laundry because their service was full for that day. Unfortunately there was instruction fir everythibng in the room but laundry. The cleaner moved my only 3 pairs of expensive hiking socks and they're gone. i waited for ages to get somebody of course nobody cared only i asked a few timws over long time of waiting. anyway, only one female staff apologized and felt bad about it. Please add instructions to tell people not to use the laundry lines.
Review 99:I picked this place because of its antique interior setting. Quite cool actually. I could access the convenience ( laundry, excursion arrangement etc) i need. They also arrange pub crawls for 3e which i didnt join. Friendly staff
Review 100:This is the best hostel I stayed so far. There are * drapes at each bed * lockers * wall outlet (розетка) in each locker (!) * one can order breakfast and dinner * one can join tours
Review 101:Very clear and comfortable rooms. Good location: historical atmosphere and also 5 min from supermarkets and bus station. Very friendly and helpfull staff.
Review 102:First the building, when do you have last stayed in a 13th century tower! Then the staff, they're simply brilliant. always gentle, always spot on there for you.provided us with all the information we needed.
Review 103:Nothing
Review 104:Everything was awesome! The hostel is located in old house of Kotor, so you can feel the real atmosphere of the past. Around the hostel there are enougth cafes with montenegro's and usual food. If you want cooking, there is kitchen with hotplate and an electric kettle. The hostel is not far from seafront and city bus station. Special respect for reception's guy, who always was very kind and helpful. Nikola, Daniel and Marko, I like you! If you are living long time, hostel has its own system of discounts.
Review 105:I have nothing to complain about.
Review 106:The hostel is in the ideal location (right in the old town). The staff was very nice, gave me advice on a daily basis and helped me organising my trip. I stayed in a private room that was a bit dark (well, because its in the old town), nicely furnished with stable internet connection anda shared bathrbathroom that was nice and clean as well. The community kitchen is well equipped and clean as well.
Review 107:Bed a little unconfortable.
Review 108:Amazing location, at the heart of Kotor's Old Town. Very old building nicely renovated. Spatious kitchens and common areas only for 3 double rooms, so maximum 6 people.
Review 109:The shower temperature is not hot. but it was OK. No problems.
Review 110:Everything. Room that I stay was really cool. Very kind hostel staff. I asked where is the stadium that football game is in Podgorica. Even he didn't know but he searched on internet and found it where is for me and told me how to get it. And carry with my very very heavy suitcase to my room... I haven't stayed such a great hostel. I was like I wanna stay longer even I already got my return flight ticket.
Review 111:They upgraded our room for us as a better one was free. Staff were really nice and friendly and invited us out with them in the evening. The room was incredible, reminded me of staying in a castle. It had an electric heater in case we got cold! The location couldnt have been any better!
Review 112:There's no central heating or central hot water in Kotor, so in winter it was very cold in the room. You should sleep in outdoor clothes to avoid catching cold.
Review 113:Friendly staff, hipster surroundings, plenty of cats nearby
Review 114:Very cold room, but hotel staff deal with it
Review 115:Very authentic and beautiful interior, definitely exactly what I am looking for. Location! Staff was very friendly and helped us with accommodation (there were very cold in a room and they extremely helped with heating), car rent and by answering our questions. I strongly recommend this place for others)))
Review 116:We asked a staff member for a restaurant recommendation and he sent us to the most expensive place in town. We're staying at a hostel, we're not rich! The bed was very uncomfortable (we could feel the springs) and the pillows were too flat. The room was drafty and cold, the wifi didn't work, and the kitchen was understocked.
Review 117:Marko was a great help and very friendly. Really welcomed us and gave us great information on anything we needed to know. The location was perfect for wandering around the Old Town.
Review 118:We came in December and even with the conditioner constantly working at 30 grad it still was pretty cool in the room, so it's better to go during the tourist season; WiFi was pretty slow
Review 119:Great location in the old town; a unique authentic look of walls and the building (just like on the photos); the host speaks excellent English; everything works; there is an incredible view from the mountains, and the stairs to go up there is 50m next to the hostel.
Review 120:Very helpful/friendly staff, lovely old building, spacious room, easy to access from the bus terminal... I liked this hostel so much and ended up staying an extra night.
Review 121:The overpowering smell of the airfreshner in the bathroom was very intense. Coming down the stairs in the rain with luggage, was a bit dangerous..but th stairs were there before suitcases, so what can you do.
Review 122:Value for money..Studio flat for just the 2 of us. Very cute. Staff helpful.
Review 123:Free wine! Additional blankets! Cool guys! And a beautiful location that you can go directly up the fortress from your staircase. Definitely would like to stay here again if I'm ever lucky enough to visit Kotor again.
Review 124:The (hourly and half hourly) ding dong of the Church bell which rang once @ 1oc, twice @ 2oc, 3 times @ 3oc, 4 @ 4oc etc and once on the half hour- I know because I heard it!
Review 125:the location excellent - so central. the staff were very helpful and pleasant to deal with. Overall I would recommend it highly (despite the toll of Church bell !!)
Review 126:- the bathroom was kind of filthy (they should definitly renew the joints of the tiles, they are are full with mold!) and also smelly - the beds were creaky and the mattrasses were worn and sagging
Review 127:- nice staff - good location
Review 128:The wifi was pretty poor, and if you wanted to connect, you needed to connect to other networks. The place was noisy during night - because of people and because of the city bell
Review 129:The design of the place is very unique, and the studio room is quiet big. It located in the center of the old city, so you can traveled through the ancient streets, and climb the fortess, even during night time.
