Reviews for Peppers Parehua Martinborough
Review 1:Very quiet in beautiful surroundings. Very close to Martinborough town so we used the free bikes and had a wonderful bike ride around the vineyards. Staff were lovely, accomadation was fantastic and the breakfast was also great. Would definately stay again.
Review 2:When we arrived the door was double locked, which took us some time unlock. We were told the chefs special would be changed the second night, it wasn't. therefore we ate in town the second night. Maybe offer complementary bikes if you are staying two nights or more.
Review 3:We enjoyed the quiet location, close to the vineyards. Lovely units and nice friendly staff made us feel very at home. Nice bath.
Review 4:Everything. We stayed there for our honeymoon and everything was beyond expectations. Staff were helpful and the facilities were great. Perfect location being far enough from town but still so close. We both enjoyed our stay and have recommended it to so many people already.
Review 5:Creaking rooms and roof all night long that kept you awake. Unfriendly waiting staff in restaurant not one said Merry Christmas even onarrival for Christmas Lunch. DiningChristmas Eve for my mothers 80th birthday dinner was served our main course after a long wait and never saw waitress again so sat with dirty plates and never given menu to order desert so got up and left. I expected a far better service than was provided for cost paid. I would not recommend Peppers Martinbourgh to anyone.
Review 6:Comfort of rooms
Review 7:They did not have enough bikes for all guests and so we had to hire some in town.
Review 8:Beautiful stand alone luxury cabin accommodation with high quality finishes.
Review 9:The cottage was excellent and had everything we needed. Greta the receptionist was welcoming and very helpful. Guest laundry was free Massage facility available on site
Review 10:Swimming pool needed to be cleaned of fallen leaves ( my husband sorted this whilst swimming). Jets in the bath needed jetting before next use to get rid of hairs. Ran out of the special menu in the restaurant (other food was offered in place). Cobwebs to balcony and higher ceilings (not a big thing but noticeable). Not sure if Peppers have their own Vineyard, if they do we weren't offered any on arriving, in the room or at dinner, other local vineyard wines at dinner.
Review 11:Location was in idyllic and peaceful surroundings but still walkable/riding distance to vineyards (we walked). Use of the swimming was good particularly with the hot weather. Food delicious and very filling from the on site restaurant. Breakfast very good with plenty of choice. Bed huge (upgraded to a lake view cottage), bathroom luxurious and having an enclosed private balcony was lovely.
Review 12:Restaurant staff could be more attentive. Sent back the fresh oysters starter as they were luke warm and the waitress said she would inform the chef. That was the last we heard, no apology or replacement (manager did refund this when I raised it again at checkout). The main lamb dish was over done. At breakfast the 2nd day, the table wasn't laid and we had to search out our own cutlery and napkins.
Review 13:Location, cleanliness, facilities,
Review 14:Not a major issue but we had few spiders in our room. Might be just because it is out in the country and they just make their way into your room.
Review 15:My fiancé wasn't feeling the best after our drive through the hill. Greta, the receptionist was brilliant and was so kind by letting us check in as soon as we got there.
Review 16:The staff were ok, maybe they need some encouragement and enthusiasm from there management.
Review 17:We really loved the location and the room was fantastic. Also it was really nice the room was heated before arriving.Great little touch.
Review 18:Coffee machine... When you replace machines, get a Nespresso, hands down the best. LCD TV was pretty naff, very grainy. Those are the only things we could fault.
Review 19:Unit was awesome, well designed. Bathroom was great, spa bath was excellent.
Review 20:Our room was so inviting, luxurious and very spacious. There was a lovely outside private area, with the sun streaming in when we arrived. Would love to have stayed for longer. Lovely restaurant, with yummy food just 2 minute walk.
Review 21:Beautiful place to stay! Very 'homely!' Great underfloor heating in bathroom. Fireplace...lovely to sit by! Loved the outdoor area...very private.
Review 22:Hard to think of anything.
Review 23:We had a perfect stay on way to Wellington. Our cabin was well appointed and staff very friendly and efficient. Great breakfast and all for a very reasonable price.
Review 24:Could have had a handgrip in the shower which would have been great for my elderly mother.
Review 25:The comfortable bed and able to watch TV in bed. The walk in shower and spa bath were great.Spacious, warm and we'll thought out.
Review 26:Would have been nice to be a tad closer to town. The pot holes between the driveway exit and the sealed roadway, the pot hole on the left of the sealed road just prior to the entrance, and the weeds growing in the spouting of our unit, all of which provide a 'bad look' for a complex of this standing).
Review 27:The staff, facilities and room were outstanding
Review 28:only problem was I did rely on the wifi for replying to my business matters and it wasn't working so had to resort to other means. Even after reboot by staff of the modem wifi still wasn't working in the morning so this let down an otherwise perfect score.
Review 29:great room and facilities
Review 30:No major negatives, but a small gym would have been a bonus & certainly the outdoor pool could have been heated - it was too cold for use without wetsuits !!
Review 31:Really thoughtfully designed, light & airy, cottages with all mod cons, great breakfasts & a wonderfully intimate dinner with a plentiful selection of wines by the glass plus ever friendly service.
Review 32:Internet service was poor . Breakfast on the second day not as good as the first and no where to sit when we arrived at a busy time other than bar stools
Review 33:The staff were cheerful and bright and very helpful The room ( we stayed in a lakeside cottage) was lovely. Everything to hand for a luxurious stay.
Review 34:Not enough towels. Breakfast was scheduled for 8.30 but cooked food wasn't ready when we arrived. Had to wait for it. Had to ask for salt and pepper and was given empty salt shaker. Minor issues but would expect better from 5 star accommodation.
Review 35:Beautiful relaxing environment. Facilities.
Review 36:The ideal weekend retreat from the rat race. The winemakers cottage was just so comfortable and quiet and yet in easy walking distance to town centre. Loved the restaurant -beautiful food and attentive service. Would love to go back & spend more time.
Review 37:Spa bath for 2, tap in wrong place so only 1 person can be comfy in bath. No bikes for kids. Apartments cold overnight if heater wasnt left on. Outdoor furniture needs upgrading, 1 chair nearly fell apart. For a 5 star facility a few things need upgrading & maintaining.
Review 38:Lovely setting & apartments
Review 39:Water from shower went all over the bathroom floor making it a slip hazard and unpleasant for using toilet etc afterwards
Review 40:Great layout and would be good for a short and long stay
Review 41:N/A
Review 42:Luxurious for a romantic weekend away. It was quiet and secluded and a beautiful setting. The room we had was absolutely modern and luxurious, bed was a huge superking, we had a hot tub on the deck as well as a large spa bath.
Review 43:Didn't realise it was quite so far from the Square, a bit too far to walk . Overall, had a wonderful stay.
Review 44:Staff, food and room were all exceptional.
Review 45:1. Kitchen rubbish bin full .... on arrival 2. Kitchen sink faucet kept moving around 3. Shower rose leaking, we had to disconnect and reconnect the hose from the head to get it going again 4. Bathroom floor tiles did not heat up like they have in previous visits 5. Toilet needed janola as badly stained 6. No sharp little knives to cut tomatoes etc 7. TV speech was not in sync with the actors on programmes on all channels 8. Food on wall by couch and table 9. Dining room chair, leatherette peeling off seat 10. Jug leaked, water all over bench in the morning 11. Put dishwasher on and when finished all plates etc were covered in gunk 12. Went to hand wash the dishes and the detergent was so watered down there was no soap to clean them, so we put them back into the dishwasher. 13. The coffee machine didn’t work properly either. If you didn’t hold the lid down after popping the coffee pod in, it wouldn’t pour out the coffee.
Review 46:I love the peaceful surroundings and the apartments are beautiful
Review 47:Wouldn't change a thing
Review 48:Fantastic online deal, and even with discounted rate we were given an upgrade on arrival at the property. The unit was beautifully presented and very well appointed. Staff were very friendly and professional.
Review 49:Wi fi was really poor, and apprently they had just had it fixed. It wasn't an issue for myself. But my sister in law needed to do some work as she was travelling from the UK.
Review 50:Really great value and a beautiful place to stay.
Review 51:The connection of the wi-fi was quite temperamental. Also, at a 5 star Peppers accommodation, I expected the outdoor pool to be a heated one and that it should be made available for guests throughout the year.
Review 52:The place was serene. The room was luxurious and well equipped. It was private and quiet. Everything was clean, tidy and modern.
Review 53:This would have to be one of the best places we have stayed at. The staff, facilities and room were all far beyond our expectations. A truly fantastic place!!
Review 54:This is the second time we stayed at Peppers in Martinborough and it was as lovely as the first time, rooms are warm, comfortable, cosy and quiet and staff is welcoming and very friendly. Breakfast as well as dinner were delicious.
Review 55:Bugs were in the bath, just needed to be cleaned, bed was hard and just two singles pushed together, needed a mattress topper. Wifi didn't reach our room
Review 56:Everything else
Review 57:The only negative was the wifi........good connection in early hours of the morning only!
Review 58:The property is great and there was nothing to fault it. The receptionist was very helpful and pleasant. Our room was beautifully decorated, very modern and roomy with great facilities. Great value for money!
Review 59:This is a great place, love the studio rooms and the layout, the bed is fab, nice to have a balcony, I've been here twice and will be back. The staff are excellent and the breakfast is fantastic.
Review 60:Loved the privacy of our Winemaker's Cottage, the heated bathroom floor, the jet bathtub. I added on the daily cooked breakfast - it was a big meal and very good with plenty of choice - for $8 per person a day it was a bargain. We cooked 2 lunches and 1 dinner in our cottage kitchen! Best of both worlds.
Review 61:The only criticism was that we were over charged on our meal bill by accident. New staff member apparently and once picked up by us was rectified quickly.
Review 62:Great place, we'll definitely be back. We had a little one and they were very accommodating with us bringing her in to the restaurant. Beautiful rooms.
Review 63:We would have loved a gym and heated pool also
Review 64:Chrissy who worked in the Pavillion restaurant made our stay extra special with her personal touch to service and friendly nature.
Review 65:Breakfast was poor. Tinned fruit? The only place on our entire NZ trip that did not serve fresh fruit. The wifi was almost unusable.
Review 66:The property is located in vineyards a bit less than 2km from the centre of tiny Martinborough. The units are spacious and well-appointed and the bed was comfortable. Unfortunately for us, we arrived on one of the coldest days of the year and the heating (a gas “log” fire and an electric oil radiator) proved inadequate to take the chill off the unit. The warmest place was in the bathroom where the heated floor tiles and heated towel rack were very much needed.
Review 67:The wifi is very poor. It did not work at all in our place (number 3) and was extremely intermittent even in the main building - more like a flickering light. If you need reliable comms, bring your own.
Review 68:Great village and well located on the outskirts of it. Excellently designed, clean, comfortable lovely outlook. Breakfast is wide variety but not absurdly so.
Review 69:Amazing facilities. Great value for money. Stayed here for the second time and plan on coming back. The spa and fire place make it the perfect place for a winter vacation.
Review 70:The units are quite and extremely comfortable. We enjoyed having a gas fire and the lounge being apart from the bedroom. We had dinner at the restaurant and the food and service were excellent.
Review 71:Separation of units , size of unit , standard of fit out , gas fire , view , the developement embraced the character of the environs , seclusion on site . We ran out of heating gas at 9pm , all sorted , no problem.
Review 72:The fact we had to leave
Review 73:We loved our stay at peppers. The weather was terrible (most of the north island had flooded) we put on gumboots and borrowed the umbrellas and had a blast. We will be back
Review 74:Some of the breakfast food was not served hot (but still tasty)
Review 75:The unit was very modern and tidy. Lovely gas fire, comfortable furniture. Good spa bath. Picturesque location, but not far from the township. Staff were friendly and responded to queries promptly.
Review 76:The entire stay was wonderful and without complaint. Breakfast delicious and would fill even the hungriest to start the day.Rooms so inviting, relaxing and warm. Fab bath and shower. The pics really do not do justice. It was so much more than even we expected. You couldn't want for more. Book it - you certainly won't be disappointed. Nothing else locally really compares to this quality - nothing. Enjoy :)
Review 77:If you're going to have beds that can be split make sure you have a topper so they don't feel like it. Two beds of differing firmness at slightly differing levels pushed together don't equal a double bed.
Review 78:Great room, great bathroom, love the furnishings and the decor. The fireplace was perfect for a cold night, the food was top notch, and staff relaxed, friendly and helpful.
Review 79:Cottages were lovely and welcoming, very cozy and perfect for a nice get away. Staff were excellent and lovely - couldnt of asked for more. Will definitely be returning!!
Review 80:If we were to stay longer, the only thing would be a slightly bigger television.
Review 81:It was such a perfect location near the vineyards. The cottage was beautiful and very comforting with an open fire and heated tiles in the bathroom, was lovely. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay :-)
Review 82:Only two very minor niggles. The TV reception is very poor - could only get really good reception on one channel. And, this really is a niggle but, is it possible to get the bacon crispy? Everything else for breakfast was excellent.
Review 83:Just about everything but mainly comfortable bed and sofa and chairs. Lovely little details even if you don't avail yourself of any snacks in the fridge or the bar or toiletries in the bathroom. The room was also immaculately clean. And it was so well designed and decorated - such pleasing aesthetics (for a change).
Review 84:The place was amazing! We will be back again for sure. Staff were so friendly and welcoming. Place was fabulous, TV, heating and lighting on and ready for us. Recommend to everyone well worth the trip to Martinborough.
Review 85:Great well appointed cottage with all the comforts - excellent facilities. Delicious breakfast and dinner. Couldn't fault anything. We will be back and next time hope to stay longer.
Review 86:Nothing....it was perfect
Review 87:The wooden hot tub was amazing, the food at the restaurant was perfect, staff were friendly and accommodating....couldn't have asked for a better place to spend my birthday weekend awy
Review 88:No complaints at all
Review 89:Comfort, quiet location, friedly welcoming staff, the warm and cozy bungalows are very well presented and luxurious. Very good bathroom and kitchen facilities in the bungalows, will certainly go there again.
Review 90:Loved the cleanliness, the solitude, it was so quiet here even with neighbours right next door. Lovely. The WIFI and the phone didn't work but a walk down to Reception soon had someone fixing both. Thanks for that. The toiletries were gorgeous thanks as I forgot my shampoo! The staff were fantastic and in the restaurant once I explained I was a coeliac I was looked after. Tremendous! Loved it here but we were lucky we had a car as it is a bit far to walk to the centre of town. Would stay again definitely.
Review 91:Location, room size and view, we didn't have the opportunity to eat in the restaurant because had an wedding party that night but we heard a lot of good things about the food, we decided to eat in the room, the room is fully furnished with every thing you need to make a good meal !!
Review 92:As senior travellers we found the wet room style shower a risk factor. Our bathroom ,though luxurious, was a fall risk after each shower with the bathroom floor flooded w water. Some type of non slip mat would be helpful before you have a disaster to deal with. Extra towels/ bath mats would help.
Review 93:Wonderful service - staff went out of their way to go the extra mile - reception stayed open for our late arrival, staff recommended dinner at local winery and arranged transport. Nothing a problem. Loved the furbishing of our cottage. Wanted for nothing. Loved the instant gas fire, coffee Nespresso machine , spa bath, private terrace, wifi, discreet room servicing.
Review 94:Couldn't find anything to not like.
Review 95:Loved the space, furnishings, comfort and wet room shower. Kitchen well equipped for a short stay and the locale was lovely. The pool was wonderful. Friendly staff too. Great breakfast.
Review 96:One night not long enough!!
Review 97:Lovely cottages, great size and very comfortable, fireplace for winter would be lovely, enjoyed the spa bath and the breakfast was great. Good price on booking.com meant we had a great value stay as well.
Review 98:The wifi just does not work and it clearly has not worked for some time after reading earlier reviews. They should either fix it or stop advertising that they include wifi. There is no excuse.
Review 99:Comfortable room, great bed, well equipped kitchen. Good breakfast.
Review 100:Lack of cooling facility in summer. Winemakers cottage were hot. The common areas in the 2 bedroom unit had air conditioning but not in the bedrooms.
Review 101:Modern furnishing and decor. Scrumptious breakfast.
Review 102:Only downside was very spotty to non-functional wifi.
Review 103:Beautiful furnishings, spacious cottage, friendly staff, delicious breakfast and a great jumping off point to a wine adventure with a bike rented for the day
Review 104:Noise from adjacent room, paper thin walls you can hear every conversation No WiFi connection in room, needed to walk to the restaurant to download emails and news
Review 105:Well appointed cottage Close to everything Good restaurant Lovely fireplace
Review 106:On arrival there was no-one in reception and had to wait. Same at checkout.
Review 107:Beautiful, clean, modern villas. Close to the vineyards. Quiet and romantic.
Review 108:We found the wifi was too slow. There was a damp /mouldy smell in our bathroom.
Review 109:We liked the friendly and relaxed atmosphere. It was a beautiful place to stay and we felt very comfortable..we were very happy to be upgraded. Thank you.
Review 110:We loved the quiet privacy of our cottage which looked out over countryside with no sign of other humans. We also loved the modern architecture of the cottage itself with its high ceilings, interesting and workable layout and overall luxurious feeling. Gail -Thames Gail Thames
Review 111:We were really looking forward to using there pool since it is summer and had been very hot days their, but the pool was closed for the two days and nights that we stayed. The whole reason we stayed there was because of the pool.
Review 112:Was so quiet, and the service was awesome.
Review 113:I didn't like it actually. If you take the time to call me I will inform you in more detail as to what you need to correct to make you a five star. Giving a five star rating is misleading.
Review 114:tv reception for the very short time we watched tv, wasn't really a problem though only thing i thought i could write negatively about.
Review 115:Comfortable place to rest a weary head after a days wine touring vineyards on bikes. Bed was comfy and the room felt quite plush. I woke up and thought damn isn't this nice!!! Had a coffee then had some breakfast at the restaurant which was pretty pretty pretty pretty good.
Review 116:Pool cold however refreshing after a hot day biking around wineries. Later check out would be good as breakfast is from 8:30 till 10:30.
Review 117:Great room, surrounded by trees so each unit was very private.
Review 118:The internet was intermittent. The 'bar' never appeared open by itself. It would have been nice to have it staffed from 4-6pm before dinner to provide snacks/drinks.
Review 119:The rooms and outlook are great. Service was attentive and helpful. Food was good although expensive. Facilities; tennis, pool, bikes - great.
Review 120:The pool was not in operation which was a shame and for an up market establishment breakfast was very disappointing. One of us managed to get food but the buffet then ran out of bacon, eggs and tomatoes. After 15/20 minutes it arrived (no tomatoes) but by then one had well finished and the other had not even started. Staff seemed distant and irritable. Shame as the breakfast was a big part of our treat away from home.
Review 121:Loved the location of this place, very peaceful. Well layed out complex, very rustic setting. The finishing touches to the room are of a high standard eg the merino blanket, kitchen accessories, coffee machine, cushions etc. The office staff were very helpful & courteous.
Review 122:Exterior quality of the building did not match up to the high quality interior - especially the rough nature of the balustrade which obstructed view of the lake and it's cute inhabitants - small point only.
Review 123:Private secluded and peaceful - providing a special and luxurious feel without being over the top
Review 124:Wifi connection was inadequate. But this was apparently being dealt with. Also an espresso machine at the breakfast would have awesome.
Review 125:I really loved the piece and quiet. Especially the privacy. We could see nothing but farm land and we would never have known if anyone one else was at the resort. Which is exactly the sort of break we where after.
Review 126:Nothing
Review 127:Our lakeside unit was very thoughtfully designed and we could not fault it. Loved being able to light the gas fire to warm up at night. Good restaurant on site. Would love to stay again!
Review 128:Small TV, could feel the join in the bed mattress, not enough space in dinning room to enjoy the buffet breakfast comfortably
Review 129:Location, peacefulness and quality of the accommodation, added luxury of the supplied bathrobes and slippers and a great breakfast
